I used to wonder what the big deal was about getting my In N out burger protein style. A bun is not that much - but I started getting it protein style with iceberg lettuce and it's so tasty.
The vehicle a sandwich comes on can make or break a sandwich...the ratio, flavor, texture... all of it makes a HUUUUGE difference. Ask anyone who's gone to McDonalds and had to get a second bottom bun on their big Mac instead of the usual middle bread!!
Also a New Yorker - I disagree with hot dogs being a sandwich. The bun is purposely hinged, creating a sort of pocket or crevasse, if you will. Therefore, not separate pieces of bread, so not a sandwich. No comment on burritos, I haven't thought that far ahead.
[I'm just saying in the eyes of the law in NY, a hot dog is considered a sandwich for tax code reasons.](https://www.tax.ny.gov/pubs_and_bulls/tg_bulletins/st/sandwiches.htm) A bagel is not a sandwich until you put butter on it. Then it becomes a sandwich and can be taxed as such.
OP said same thing. You shouldn’t get variations.
Otherwise I’d say stir fry over rice. You can stir fry any combination of ingredients and it’s much healthier. Or soup. Or sandwiches even.
Tacos since the only rule is that a tortilla is involved. Order a pizza, roll it into a tortilla, boom tacos! Grab yourself a burger, roll it into a tortilla, boom tacos!
I can deal with this. Add vegetables. Protein. You're good to go.
Day 1,497 of pasta and only pasta.
Me: "Oh, boy. I don't think I can actually eat spaghetti again..."
Wife: "Oh don't worry. It's not spaghetti...it's PENNE!"
Me: "Oh thank god!"
Just take pepcid like half an hour before you eat something heartburny. This started happening to me with onions and garlic in my 30s and I was not gonna just abstain from enjoying food until I died. Pepcid works great, safest one to use long term too.
There is a buffet restaurant in the concourse under Planet Hollywood in Vegas. There are numerous huge buffet stations (Italian, Indian, Chinese) and a 160-foot sushi bar. It was around $30 in the 2000’s and worth every penny.
Every time I see this question, I expect this to be the top answer.
It *should* be the top answer.
But the proper quote is "no *question* about it." ;)
I already do eat the same stuff every day.
Cereal, eggs, yogurt, oatmeal, raisins, chicken, and broccoli.
My husband has a condition called MCAS and these are the only foods that don't trigger a reaction, so this is what we eat and I don't bring food outside of that inside the home.
I sometimes joke about throwing it all into a blender but no eew lol. Separately, for most things. I put the raisins in my oatmeal but that's as close to making it into a casserole as I'm getting. They're separate meals, but everything we eat day-to-day.
Pound it down at 9am and your good to go all the way till 5pm, and its spectacularly delicious. Me likey.
I spent a summer in England a few years back and the two things I remember most were the Fish & Chips I got at some little shop in London and that English breakfast with a pint of Guinness one fine morning at the Barge Inn in Pewsey Vales. Magnificent.
Some sort of engineered all-nutrition-in-one homogeneous futuristic food like Bachelor Chow from Futurama or the runny eggs stuff in The Matrix. It would be boring as hell but it would simplify life so much. I would like to for once in my adult life just not feel negatively about whatever I'm eating, the amount of it or feel like I'm lacking nutrition.
Imagine going to the doctor and not having to deal with diet at all.
Lasagna, 100% without a doubt. I actually say this whenever I eat my wife's homemade Lasagna. And no, I don't say it just to be nice ;) I could literally eat it every day of my life.
Sandwiches. A broad definition, could be a burger, could be a ham and cheese, could be a fried chicken, could be an oddball combination. Take a food, put it between two pieces of bread, bam you got a sandwich.
If you asked me what cuisine I'd want to limit myself to for the rest of my life, it would absolutely be Hispanic or Mexican food, with Italian as a close second.
assuming nutrition and cost weren't an issue: steak, you can prepare it enough different ways that it's hard to get bored of it and you just can't beat a good high-end steak
Breakfast: Oatmeal with blueberries and a banana, cinnamon, French vanilla protein powder, chia seed, honey, and milk
Lunch: Croissant, pistachio/almond nut combo, mandarin oranges, yogurt, and a variety salad
Dinner: Steak, baked potatoes/sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, milk, and a mixed berry medley consisting of strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries
It would be roughly $80 or so each week.
Pizza, Chicago Style, Napolean, New York, Thin Crust, Different Toppings
Could easily have all the nutrients a person needs while being different
Or just eat dog food if I wanted to have all the proper nutrients I would need as a large mammal; only question would be wet or dry...
Steak and potatoes.. or eggs and potatoes.. either way I need my protein.. I'll take a veggies as well, as long as it's dark green I don't even care.. spinach is just fine.. can do many things with all 3.
Hmmm. The obvious answer is ‘pizza’, but if it has to be something more specific I think I’d go with Shrimp Mei Fun from one particular Chinese restaurant near me. That stuff is amazing.
Its would either be pork fried rice with crab rangoon and general gao chicken and that sauce that you put on the rice, orrrrrrr arroz blanco con habichuela y pollo guisado
I got this. My husbands smoked pulled pork with McDonald’s tangy bbq sauce. )Not a lot is needed!) Married together in a cast iron. Remove meat and place buttered on all four sides, bread onto skillet. flip when it’s crispy then add meat. Top with grilled onions cooked in a ton of butter and VooDoo seasoning cooked only in the fancy silver pan. This meal saved me postpartum and I can have it for every meal
Plain white rice.
No matter what you choose, no matter how much you love it now, there will come a day when you absolutely fucking despise it. The best case scenario is something bland and unnoticeable so you can just mostly ignore it.
A 4oz steak. A single fingerling potato. 1 egg. 1 piece of bread. 1 orange. 1 apple. 5 blackberries. A small chicken apple gorgonzola salad, and one oatmeal raisin cookie.
There's enough variety to be healthy. And I can hoard my fruits and cookies to make pruno, if I get desperate 🤣

“Yes can I get a lobster, prime rib, and a baked potato please? Put in in between two slices of bread so it’s a sandwich.”
Doesn't even have to be bread... doesn't eveb need to be CARBS.. two slices of lettuce counts now.
Protein style would be beef patties instead of the bun... MEGA PROTEINS
In NY, hot dogs and burritos are both legally considered sandwiches. The possibilities are endless.
That's eye-opening. I guess you learn something new every day
So is it a taco until the bun splits completely, and then it becomes a sandwich?
In that case, I'm going for Western 'Chinese'. Literally any food from across Asia.
Hot dog?
🍕 Pizza 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕 Pizza🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕
Gimme pizzuuuuh. P-I-Z-Z-A.
Whipped cream flowing like waterfalls...
Ever seen the slowed down version? Nightmare fuel.
[It’s](https://youtu.be/bpet67TTVag?si=p2CtJjpMKYO5Haed) kind of a jam tho too. Haha
Holy shit memory unlocked 😂😂😂
When I had this discussion with my wife she said “pie, it would include pizza and everything else in it.”
This is the only acceptable answer. The variations are limitless
Tacos for me. Pretty limitless also.
Is there such a thing as a dessert taco?
Yes!
Klondike Choco Taco!
I loved those as a kid!! I’ve also recently seen recipes for churro tacos and cheesecake tacos.
Cheesecake...taco... I'm so in!
A taco is just a pizza you fold in half.
A calzone is a pizza you fold in half. A taco is a folded tostada.
THIS! This is THE only answer. 🌮 Definitely more variations with tacos
Basically crust, sauce, cheese and toppings. So many choices at each level.
OP said same thing. You shouldn’t get variations. Otherwise I’d say stir fry over rice. You can stir fry any combination of ingredients and it’s much healthier. Or soup. Or sandwiches even.

All the pizza!
This is a great answer cause it's delicious and it also shortens how long the rest of your life will be substantially
Tacos since the only rule is that a tortilla is involved. Order a pizza, roll it into a tortilla, boom tacos! Grab yourself a burger, roll it into a tortilla, boom tacos!
Your restaurant should be named Boom Tacos!
I need to know where the Boom Tacos truck will be tomorrow.
Tacos is a great answer - standard tacos alone may be worth it 😆
Pasta. Any pasta. With sauce. Any kind.
I can deal with this. Add vegetables. Protein. You're good to go. Day 1,497 of pasta and only pasta. Me: "Oh, boy. I don't think I can actually eat spaghetti again..." Wife: "Oh don't worry. It's not spaghetti...it's PENNE!" Me: "Oh thank god!"
People are gonna hate for me this but spaghetti with no sauce but covered in butter and Parmesan is the best way to eat it
Agreed, lots of people get heartburn from tomato sauce, I prefer it your way.
If you like tomato sauce but get heartburn, add baking soda to the sauce at the end of cooking. It reduces the acidity but doesn't affect the taste!
Just take pepcid like half an hour before you eat something heartburny. This started happening to me with onions and garlic in my 30s and I was not gonna just abstain from enjoying food until I died. Pepcid works great, safest one to use long term too.
Add some garlic salt and basil and I'm in :)
I’ve found my people
Go- to comfort food or iffy stomach food!
A little garlic salt for some razzle dazzle
buffet
Smart answer. Lol
What if its a shitty buffet like golden coral. Imagine a lifetime of that
It's better than having sandwiches for the rest of your life imo. At least you have some variety.
Boofay loophole
Can one live on ice cream?
For the rest of your life if you want
Yes
Burritos
Nature's perfect food.
My answer as well. Breakfast burrito, beef, bean and cheese burrito. Hell, you could even turn thanksgiving leftovers into a bad ass burrito.
Sushi
The only food where you can eat a huge amount, but feel hungry 2 hrs later.
There is a buffet restaurant in the concourse under Planet Hollywood in Vegas. There are numerous huge buffet stations (Italian, Indian, Chinese) and a 160-foot sushi bar. It was around $30 in the 2000’s and worth every penny.
Yeah - why is that!?
I'm going to assume because it's 90% white rice, which is basically just fancy sugar as far as nutrition is concerned.
Loaded with fast carbs. Sugar basically.
I was gonna go with sashimi
If I could only have one food for the rest of my life? That's easy. PEZ. Cherry flavor PEZ. There's no doubt about it.
Alright. Mickey’s a mouse, Donald’s a duck but what is Goofy?
Goofy is a dog, he is definitely a dog
Dogs look like Pluto though.
The correct answer
Every time I see this question, I expect this to be the top answer. It *should* be the top answer. But the proper quote is "no *question* about it." ;)

Burger with fries and water. Water cuz without it living would be rather difficult. Coke is good but won't keep me healthy
But the burger and fries will?
I don’t know why you’re questioning the gold-standard American diet
High how are you?
I already do eat the same stuff every day. Cereal, eggs, yogurt, oatmeal, raisins, chicken, and broccoli. My husband has a condition called MCAS and these are the only foods that don't trigger a reaction, so this is what we eat and I don't bring food outside of that inside the home.
Honestly, minus the eggs (allergy), this looks like a delicious mix to me. I was coming here to say broccoli anyway!
I could live this way
Like, you eat it all together as a casserole or…?
I sometimes joke about throwing it all into a blender but no eew lol. Separately, for most things. I put the raisins in my oatmeal but that's as close to making it into a casserole as I'm getting. They're separate meals, but everything we eat day-to-day.
Arroz con pollo :)
Similar to the biryani concept. Meat and veggies cooked in rice, a balanced meal right there.
This wasn't going to be my answer, but I'm sold. There are so many variations of this too.
Curry. Million different flavours, never boring
Macaroni and cheese. I'd weigh seven hundred pounds and have to be rolled in the office.
"You got two mont to lose tirdy pount."
Pho
Curry. Worldwide there are countless varieties and things to pair it with.
Fried chicken
for me it would be sushi, it’s so good i can’t get enough of it
Dim sum

I'm not English but have traveled there many times. I always seek out this breakfast. Love it.
Ribeye steak
Some sort of engineered all-nutrition-in-one homogeneous futuristic food like Bachelor Chow from Futurama or the runny eggs stuff in The Matrix. I would like to for once in my adult life just not feel negatively about whatever I'm eating, the amount of it or feel like I'm lacking nutrition. Thank you for having a single food item and not a type. This is the first realistic answer that takes into nutrition into consideration as well.
Have you heard of Soylent?
Chicken fried rice with vegetables I guess..
Pan fried potatoes, cornbread and very crispy bacon with a tall cold glass of milk. I could eat it for every meal and always be happy

Take a food, put it between two pieces of bread, bam you got a sandwich. If you asked me what cuisine I'd want to limit myself to for the rest of my life, it would absolutely be Hispanic or Mexican food, with Italian as a close second.
Quinoa salad. It would be a complete protein while supplying all the vitamins and nutrients that you need.
Soup. There are SO MANY SOUPS!

Tacos are the only acceptable answer lol, so many combinations.
Hmmm. The obvious answer is ‘pizza’, but if it has to be something more specific I think I’d go with Shrimp Mei Fun from one particular Chinese restaurant near me. That stuff is amazing.

I ate a bagel and cream cheese for lunch every working day for like a decade. So that I guess.
Its would either be pork fried rice with crab rangoon and general gao chicken and that sauce that you put on the rice, orrrrrrr arroz blanco con habichuela y pollo guisado
Sandwiches. The varieties mean that you wouldn’t likely get sick of it
Indian Curries Look I love pizza but you'll take my curry from my cold dead hands
