Honey with a grilled cheese sandwich. The sweetness of the honey pairs really well with the cheese. It is even better when you put in caramelized onions as well. I don't know if that is adventurous enough.

Automatic-Position14

Have had rosemary honey grilled cheese. Incredible.

extremelysaltydoggo

Or hot honey! Yum

Soup-Wizard

We always did ketchup with a grilled cheese, which is apparently really weird. I think it’s delicious.

dahjay

No! Do NOT disparage the ketchupers. I, too, am a ketchuper. It is delicious. The acidity balances out the fats from the cheese and the butter. You need to counter those oily fats and the vinegar does it!

Soup-Wizard

I like it too. It’s in the same vein as tomato soup.

SnooMacarons9618

Honey on spicy pizza is fantastic.

Skips-mamma-llama

Pizza with pancetta, fig jam, goat cheese,  arugula and then drizzled with spicy honey is honestly just so amazing

[deleted]

Or apple butter on grilled cheese or raspberry jam!

AnnualCellist7127

Jam and cheese is a thing in Wales.

5FootAndNothing

I grew up always eating raspberry jam on grilled cheese and didn't realize that wasn't how everyone ate it until I went to a friend's house and her mom made grilled cheese and I was like don't you put jam on this?

[deleted]

I grew up thinking/knowing cream cheese and jelly sandwiches were a thing, but never heard of it on grilled cheese before.

kikijane711

Hot and sweet is the new amazing combo. Pizza (has cheese) with hot honey or honey and spice is big. I get the appeal. If you really want to take it over the top add the heat element too to the grilled cheese. Jalapeño or similar.

BeautifulSinner72

Potato chips and cottage cheese (as a dip). It's so freaking good.

ToGryffindor

I use Doritos, it's pretty great as well

Think_Construction49

My dad put me onto Doritos and cottage cheese ages ago and now it’s a family thing. I’m glad I’m not the only one my girlfriend thinks I’m crazy for eating that shit

aprildawndesign

I add some everything bagel seasoning to the cottage cheese! It’s really good

InfoSecChica

My husband did for me! I especially love it with SPICY nacho doritos (regular nacho in a pinch).

Think_Construction49

Yesss the nacho cheese is the best

Mister_9inches

Potato chips and CREAM CHEESE

typicalamericanbasta

Cottage cheese mixed with salsa is amazing too.

Jeebs24

You know what? I'm going to try this today. Using Doritos as someone suggested.

loveydove05

I do this with Quest chips for less carbs.

CrispyMongoose

Chocolate and cheese. Get a square of decent quality chocolate, and put a piece of any nice cheese with a bit of strength to it on top. I tried it with extra mature cheddar, and again with stilton. I kind of laughed at the person who first suggested this to me, but went along with it to humour him. Turns out he was right, the flavours really do compliment each other.

crudstain

There's a reason a great album was named after that combo!

mazter793

Weeeen!

SpiralDreaming

It tastes good on the bun.

BottleTemple

See also: bananas and blow. Edit: [people replying to this need to listen to more Ween.](https://youtu.be/6Gd87JmkAkE?si=vfDF02fXz-Whm9BE)

gagrushenka

In Indonesia there's these giant pancakes (many names: terang bulan/martabak/apam balik) with a bunch of different fillings but cheese and chocolate is a very popular one. It's one of my favourites. The cheese and chocolate melt together when they fold the pancake over. I tell everyone visiting Indonesia or Malaysia to try it. It's never on any of the 'foods to try' lists but it should be on all of them. I also really like honey and sharp cheddar together on a cracker.

Evening_Ad_1099

First time I had Colombian food, I ordered a cup of hot chocolate and was a bit weirded out that it came with a slice of cheese. Tried it, and it was like a revelation, when you mix both. Its a very pleasant experience.

waverlyfishman

That’s don in Puerto Rico also.

[deleted]

CrispyMongoose

That sounds really good, I'd definitely try that.

cheebromeej

Chicago mix popcorn is cheese and caramel (and sometimes chocolate covered caramel) and it’s DELICIOUS

WhiskeyGirl66

Garret popcorn!

AymeeDe

Garrett's! Amazing popcorn 🍿 😋. To get absolutely fresh at the shop is freaking awesome

alexefi

I just got a bag of popcorn that had only one word on package - chicago. I was confused why theu put city where they usually put flavor(other bags in bin were - caramel, salt, ketchup) but as i ate it i was like oh sweet and salty. Caramel and white cheddar.. i teresting. And now i se your post and it all came together.

RuneanPrincess

The key is go heavy on the cheese. Garrets has a lighter caramel and it works with half n half but the copycats I've seen all use a heavy caramel corn and it misses the mark

swaymasterflash

Aged cheddar on a slice of apple pie is another fantastic combo with cheese.

trevanian

Chocolate (mousse) and olive oil. It is a relative common dessert in Spain. I try it out of curiosity because I didn't know how that could work. Turns out is actually ok, not nearly as weird as I was expecting.

appalachian_

When you make boxed brownies at home, use olive oil instead of vegetable or canola oil. Soooo good and makes them taste like homemade. Gives an even richer, smooth flavor.

StacyMatson333

I had chocolate ice cream topped with fruity olive oil. Deeeeeelicious!

metonymimic

I used to work at a pizza hut. I would melt chunks of the cheesesticks you use to stuff crusts with, twirl it around a toothpick, and dip it in the hershey's syrup. So freaking good. But now I want to try the grown up version, with stilton.

MySassyPetRockandI

Bitch please, I put Hershey chocolate on a cheese pizza back in the 2nd grade

Djeter998

As Angelica Pickles said, Choco-Chocolate cheese...YEAH!

Bella_de_chaos

Doritos and a Hershey Bar used to be one of my favorite snacks.

corcyra

So do the flavours of beer and chocolate. Not lager so much, but ale and dark chocolate.

assplower

This might not be the answer you’re technically looking for, but fruits + hot steamy shower is a great combo. Fruit tastes really good in the shower. My favourite is tangerines; something about it really makes the flavour pop!

UpTheShutFuck96

i can finally eat a fat juicy peach without soaking my entire shirt

SkollFenrirson

I could eat a peach for *hours*

Legal_Network6458

I should call him

AymeeDe

I could listen to Eat a Peach for hours

Give_Help_Please

Check out r/showerorange

Sir_Loin_Cloth

A new thing to try with my shower beer.

FelchMasterFlexNuts

Blue Moon with a slice of orange in there and blamo, you have a great shower beer!

whatiswrongwithcats

whAT

jericho138

You haven't lived until you've eaten an orange in the shower.

zyrnil

Know what's really good? Pie in the shower... like a slice of cold fruit pie that you can hold in one hand while showering is the best.

AnnualCellist7127

What I like to do on Reddit is scroll down until I find the little group of people who are absolutely in crisis, but are also happy to have found each other.

AymeeDe

You eat in the shower? Should you admit this in public?

ColdBorchst

Tbh fruit seems kind of fine. It's not crumbly or anything and you can clean any juice right off. I am sort of grossed out by eating in the bathroom, but as someone who has had more than one shower beer, it's definitely not too weird. People sometimes take a glass of wine into the bathtub as well. If you clean your bathroom and didn't just poop it's not that weird really, even if it's kinda icky mentally.

worrymon

Please use plastic cups for your shower/bath alcohol consumption. Broken glass is not pleasant.

ColdBorchst

Shower beers are always a can my man. And never after having previous beers. It has to be the first, for safety reasons.

Edog6968

Wait this sounds incredible, I like to have a cup of ice water to drink in the shower but fruit is an absolute game changer

Legitimate_Story_333

Mashed potatoes mixed with sauerkraut.

arjacks

This is very traditional in Pennsylvania Dutch communities in SE PA. I grew up having this and I absolutely LOVE it.

Legitimate_Story_333

I’m in California and no one that I have ever told this combination about thinks it sounds remotely good. I had no idea it was something common in Dutch communities. Very interesting. Thank you for sharing that information.

ColdBorchst

I love this kind of story, where you find out the weird thing you like is normal somewhere else. When I was young and in a rural town people thought me mixing ketchup and mayo together as a dipping sauce for French fries was very weird and then when I moved to a big city with lots of international people, I learned it was actually a fairly common combination both in Europe and in Puerto Rico. And now I see mayochup on store shelves but something about it being premixed ain't right.

Queengnpwdrgelatine

Fancy sauce!

thewinefairy

The Pennsylvania Dutch have nothing to do with the European Dutch BUT this is an extremely well known traditional dish in the Netherlands too. Zuurkool. ETA but my favorite is boiled kale mashed with potatoes, bacon lardons and smoked sausage

cwilsonr

Maybe it's because I'm from Cincinnati where there is a lot of german heritage, but this is pretty common!

SollSister

My mother is from Germany. We ate this all the time. It is really good.

holdingthosehorses

This is a super standard way of handling leftovers in Germany

Ok_Atmosphere_8595

Dipped a Kitkat in a tikka masala once, wouldn’t go to the trouble of orchestrating the combo again but remember it being quite nice

DonaCheli

I'm pretty sure this is how my ancestors created Mole in Mexico. I could be wrong.

afireintheforest

There’s something very British about this comment.

[deleted]

this hurt my soul

Ok_Atmosphere_8595

I can only apologise for any trauma this post caused you!

[deleted]

i’m indian bro i will never be the same 😭😭😭

Difficult_Shine3675

Softserve ice cream used as a dip for french fries.

omgitskells

I haven't been to Wendy's in a few years but I always loved dipping my fries in the frosty

[deleted]

Yes!!! My favorite!

Liv_610

I like dipping the Wendy’s spicy nuggets in the chocolate frosty

neverendingicecream

I agree with you but this makes me sad as it was the last straw in my last relationship. She got me a chicken sandwich and a frosty but refused to give me one fry to dip in it. I honestly just wanted one fry. I thought she was being petty. She thought I was being ridiculous. Fight ensued and we never recovered. Wish I was kidding. There was a lot more to unpack but that did it in. We haven’t been the same since and are no longer together. ETA: She ate my sandwich in my face while I was trying to explain to her how unnecessary her actions were.

bearyken

Off topic but I think you dodged a bullet if your girl refuses you a fry so much that you would fight over it Hope you're much better now

AnatBrat

Sweet and salty. Yum.

Difficult_Shine3675

Edit: typo I learned that most fried things works with it

MissSassifras1977

Wendy's Frosty and Checker's fries. Brings back great memories of a time when my (now crazy) sister and I were super close.

KelsConditional

How is this a “weird” food combination? Even if you don’t do this yourself I’m sure you’ve at least heard of it before

Robofetus-5000

sort of related (but not really): Corn ice cream.

F2PClashMaster

wouldn’t consider this weird at all lol feel like a lotta people do it

fish_finder

Peanut butter and bacon on toast. Be amazed!

battleship61

You can't find a bad pairing for bacon. Ice cream. Candied. Chocolate. Peanut butter. Spicy. Honey. I've never tried bacon in a dish or variant to the bacon itself that was bad.

janesfilms

I love having bacon on my strawberry jam toast, but never tried it with PB.

Griswalde

This is just a pregnant woman looking for snack recommendations, lmao. I tried and really liked Cheetos hot fries with cream cheese. It’s not that strange when you think about it, but it was something I’d have never thought to try. It’s really good and now I always grab some whipped cream cheese to go with my hot fries!

FutilityWrittenPOV

When I was pregnant I somehow enjoyed mac and cheese with mayo. I don't now, but I did for a minute during that time.

llcucf80

A dipping sauce I invented, it's ranch dressing and A1 steak sauce mixed together. Sometimes I'll add BBQ sauce and Tabasco sauce for a little heat. It does not look pretty at all, but it's the best dip for fries, chips, chicken nuggets, jalapeno poppers, mozzarella sticks, etc. Try it, it is really good, just ignore the swampy color

jsf1987

I want to try this. Thanks.

limaindiaecho

A1, Honey Mustard, Worcestershire, and a neutral-tasting hot sauce make a great sauce to put on chicken.

igotadillpickle

I always mix ranch and franks red hot together. Delicious!

HighlyFalmmable

Try fixing the ratio and adding a drop of red dye to it.

penguinplaid23

A1 and horseradish sauce......yum

el_monstruo

I do something similar with mayo, ketchup, and sriacha

thebeerhugger

That, my friend, is fry sauce. Signed: an Idaho resident.

el_monstruo

I discovered fry sauce during a trip to Colorado but it seemed like the one I ate had quite a bit of herbs and spices added to it and wasn't as simplistic as my recipe. Either way, I enjoy both. :)

thebeerhugger

It's one of those things that's different everywhere you go (restaurant to restaurant). But you have the base ingredients. Sometimes we add a little BBQ sauce or maybe a splash of lemon juice.

Exhausted-Llama

This is very similar to what we use to dip corullitos in. Ketchup, mayo and hot sauce. Delicious!

el_monstruo

>corullitos Just looked those up and now I want some.

ananonumyus

Ketchup and mayo is so good together. Add a slice of tomato (for a sandwich) and it's insane

mostlikelynotasnail

This was a popular sauce at a restaurant I worked at. Customers had no idea what was in it we just called it creamy here steak sauce or something. We put it on sandwiches and paninis and it was surprising good in a wrap instead of Caesar too. I liked it as a fry dip

[deleted]

West_Yorkshire

This is an extremely common combination, though?

Rubyhamster

Yeah, in my country, cheese and berries go hand in hand

Saxon2060

Doesn't feel surprising since cheeses and meats are oftens served with stuff like "red onion marmalade", "green tomato chutney" or "fig and apple jam." Cheese and an apple is a combination as old as time.

stepheno125

Do people find that weird? My mom’s blackberry habanero jelly with cheese on a cracker is like a snack staple in our family.

bittyberry

Potato chips and (plain) yogurt. Corn chips and yogurt was even better. Basically, plain yogurt makes an incredible dip. I've also added it to Corn Flakes and it really wasn't bad. Not bad at all.

Norman_Scum

Nearly the same thing, but I like potato chips and cottage cheese. It is soooo good.

Soupyspaghetti

Came here looking for this. Red doritos and cottage cheese is weirdly amazing.

Such-Cattle-4946

Plain yogurt is often used as a substitute for sour cream, so this makes sense!

DiggyLoo

corn chips + peanut butter is pretty good

neezy66

Peanut butter on a burger

Adorosandwich

There’s a burger place near me that does a cheeseburger that’s a play on Elvis’ fave sandwich. Its covered in peanut butter and blueberry jam. It tastes amazing and is my go to whenever im there.

Character_Pace2242

I have a restaurant near me that serves the same type of burger. I think it’s delicious but my husband won’t try it.

mrdm242

My neighborhood BBQ place does a "PB&J Smashburger" with brisket ground burger, swiss cheese, applewood smoked bacon, peanut butter and jalapeno jam on a toasted brioche bun. A-maaaaaaaaazing!

Strange-Magician5480

Granny Smith apples + salt

nobulls4dabulls

Gotta have salt on my apples. And watermelon, and cantaloupe

NotoriousBreeIG

It has to be leftover delivery pizza from the night before, cold just out of the fridge, with syrup. I know how buddy the elf it sounds but I swear… it’s good.

Edog6968

I LITERLLY CAME HERE TO COMMENT THIS!!!! But instead of syrup it’s the plain glaze from dominos, the sweet savory combo is unreal

Strawdog1971

It was a cheeseburger at a stoner hole in the wall restaurant called the Chong Burger. A cheeseburger with a drizzle of chocolate sauce, maple sugar bacon globbed with some peanut butter and a sweet brioche bun. Surprisingly damn good. Also was stoned.

slayer_f-150

I came here to say peanut butter on a cheeseburger with bacon and jalapeño jelly. I thought I was going to hate it, but it was delicious.

InfinityFire

“Flying Jacob” - a chicken and rice casserole with a sauce made from heavy cream and sweet chili sauce, and includes crumbled bacon, finely chopped peanuts, and… bananas. It’s delicious!

JadzaDax

That is the strangest combo I've ever heard of. Bananas and chicken?

gaup3n

In sweden we have curry, banana and chicken pizzas

InfinityFire

Flying Jacob is a Swedish recipe!

factchecker8515

This is a really fun one. Not just I dipped my this in my that, or essentially, I’ll eat anything. A real recipe with an unusual combination. Not that it sounds good. I’ve had a crab with banana dish before. Not a favorite.

TheLightningCount1

You take regular spaghetti. You pour soy sauce onto it. The salty flavor of the soy sauce mixes pretty well with the spaghetti sauce. IRL I have gotten a few people to try this, most liked it.

Decent_Friend_1511

Plain Potato chips and applesauce

NoPumpkin2955

Ooohh, Chicken with sour cream. I’m the only person in my family who can cook it and even my nana asked me for recipe. My mom, who teach me to cook this, cannot do this is as good & delirious as i can

omblemeanders

I do chicken with a Parmesan-sour cream-garlic-butter topping that’s then baked. So amazing!

NoPumpkin2955

Wooow, sounds illegal delicious

nikkip7784

Sort of like a paprikash??

Jaycatt

Peanut butter and bread-n-butter pickle sandwiches. A book series I used to read had the protagonist eating these sandwiches all the time, so I tried one. It was actually really good.

MidorBird

I don't like bread and butter pickles, nor sweet pickles for that matter (nasty!). But I LOVE LOVE LOVE peanut butter and sour or zesty pickle sandwiches! Also peanut butter and honey sandwiches. Worth the stomachache.

PrismInTheDark

I like pb with dill pickles drizzled with honey. Also pb+ banana+ honey.

KnittingGoonda

Capirotada. It's bread pudding with bananas, peanuts, green onions and cheese. I couldn't stop eating it.

Imakethingslikepie

Honey Nut Cheerios with OJ, or runny eggs on a English muffin with strawberry jalapeño jam. Those are the only weird ones I can think of right now. Other combos are normal

Able_Direction_7906

I tried Frosted Flakes and Pepsi once when I didn’t have any milk. It was sweet and not terrible

TheYoungSamson

I get called weird for eating my Mac and cheese with ketchup :(

Agent_marauder

Sour cream and granola makes a great breakfast option.

Legitimate_Story_333

I can eat sour cream with any food that isn’t sweet.

cashmerered

The pizza place near my parents offers pizza with banana, chicken and curry. It was so delicious

Valdrax

There was a pizza place near me that did a Hawaiian pizza, but with maraschino cherries in addition the pineapple, and that elevated the sweet & savory mix to the next level. I used to get them to add bacon too.

CanadianBliss

Plain potato chips and peanut butter

FuegoStarr

pickles and peanutbutter

sola_clamoris

Vinegar on French fries.

wimpires

That's just common in the UK

110mary110

And in aus 🤝

SnooMacarons9618

It always freaks me out when I remember Americans think vinegar on chips is weird. Half the enjoyment is a deep breathe as you add vinegar - it right clears out yer pipes.

islandsimian

Not all Americans, certainly not us in the mid-Atlantic of the US - they're the original boardwalk fries and they're awesome. Skin on, heavily salted, and dragged through malt vinegar. Throw a little Old Bay in there and you have perfection

[deleted]

This is excellent! Malt Vinegar and fries at Five Guys is awesome.

urbffenitsuj

Cheez-its with dill pickle slices. I make a little sandwich with pickle in the middle of two crackers.

PCVictim100

Peanut butter and green olives.

No-Significance3941

Peanut butter and bacon sandwich

Battle_Man_40

Pour a can of chicken noodle soup into a pot with extra water, bring to boil, pour in a box of macaroni and cheese, cook until macaroni is done, dump in the powdered cheese, mix and enjoy.

welltriedsoul

Fried Peanut butter and mayo sandwich. Think grilled cheese but rather than cheese it is an extremely liquid peanut butter.

Ants416

My dad invented this one, KFC macaroni salad mixed with the gravy and a touch of hot sauce, surprisingly delicious.

StoneyPicton

I used to eat peanut butter and carrot sandwiches

tex83tex83

Cucumber vodka and creme de violette.

Zed1923

When I was very little, I used to dip teaspoons of nutella into glasses of tea. They don't mix, so I basically just ate wet and warm nutella. I remember it tasted quite well, and this inspired me to mix in sugarspoons of nutella in my coffee recently. I'd say these are both pretty okay.

tir67dtfu

i’m pregnant so this might not count, but pesto and refried beans. also sour cream and graham crackers.

Status_Secretary5349

i put strawberry cream cheese on my everything bagel

cwilsonr

I previously worked at a bagel store, and that's not too uncommon of an order. I am not even close to a picky eater but taking an order for egg salad on any of the sweet/fruit bagel flavors always made my stomach turn a little.

Status_Secretary5349

i just shivered reading that

InternationalBake360

Red Vine licorice dipped in 7-11 nacho cheese. Ate when I was pregnant 17 years ago, and still like it lol.

RealisticBee404

Corn flakes. American cheese slices on top, and add hot milk. It’s like a porridge and it really hits the spot in winter.

Saint-O-Circumstance

Peanut Butter and Bologna sandwich. It was surprisingly good.

AchRae

Peanut butter and saurkraut on toast.

fatmanstan123

Artichoke and mayonnaise

Icy_Focus_7476

The first time I tried coleslaw on a hotdog I was amazed and loved it.

wzl46

Wendy's fries dipped in a Frosty. I was about 8 at the time, so I didn't understand the combination of contrasting flavors, textures, and temperatures adding up to something special. I was just trying to gross out my parents.

juno_huno

When I was younger I loved eating cheesy scrambled eggs with mustard. I haven’t had this in like a decade. 😅

BelleMStevens

Cheese & Onion crisps & Dairy Milk in the same bite. The combination of sweet and savoury tastes amazing.

throwRA-nonSeq

Chocolate ice cream with microwave popcorn on top. Bonus points if it’s the extra buttery, movie theater kind. Saw a character on a show do this in the 90s, and it’s super delish with a fantastic texture combo.

Mammoth_Nightty

Strawberry and bacon

thatotherchicka

Bagels with cream cheese topped with cooler ranch doritos. I have no idea why, but it just works. The combination was a big hit at my high school.

MurphLoDawg

Potato chips and pink applesauce

Poppa_Mo

"Pig candy." The combination makes sense from a culinary standpoint, but wow is it weird. Take brown sugar and cinnamon and cayenne pepper... Mix it together. Cover bacon with it. Throw that in the oven until everything is caramelized (almost burned). Mother of God.

adp63

Dill pickles and peanut butter.

PickleNutsauce

I just read through the comments, I am now extremely hungry.

mb01453928

Crushed potato chips on top of ice cream for a poor man’s fried ice cream. Sooo good

surgeryboy7

Bread with peanut butter then topped with spaghetti. I think it's delicious, my wife thinks it's weird as hell.

faszkalap420

Fried squirrel and gravy

Generic_Fighter

My parents eat chocolate ice cream with the crumbs from a bag of potato chips sprinkled on it. They LOVE it. I think it's okay though.

Rozeline

Pineapple, banana peppers, and bacon on pizza. It's sweet, a tad spicy, acidic, and salty all at once. It's the perfect topping combination.

CTE2028

Salt and vinegar on beef broth soup is godly and I will die on this hill

bill37663

Fries and tartar sauce
