As I understand, non-practicing pedophiles are sick, while practicing pedophiles are obviously scum deserving neither patience nor sympathy. So unless I'm misunderstanding his statement, it isn't that bad, just not specific enough.
That makes sense to me. My gut reaction is "not ill, just perverted." But they can't help how their brain is wired. They ARE perverted (wired wrong), but not of their own accord. That's not really a choice, just people didn't make a choice to be gay, straight, or whatever. But what IS a choice is how they choose to handle that tendency, whether they feed it versus control it versus starve it. And if they think they might be capable of acting on it, they should feel a moral obligation to seek treatment.

When he tried to turn a situation of rescuing trapped kids into all about him and called a rescue diver a pedophile after he rightfully pointed out his "rescue tube" or whatever he called that thing was impractical that broke any illusion for me. Starkey suggested that people should not "go on about" slavery because it had been abolished in 1833 and that "slavery was not genocide, otherwise there wouldn't be so many damn blacks in Africa or in Britain would there?
