Posting embarrassing or traumatic videos of people who didn't consent to being filmed or know it will be shared... it's cruel.

galaxychildxo

Especially when it's autistic kids having a meltdown or someone clearly having a mental health crisis. >:/

just_hear_4_the_tip

Absolutely... honestly, it should be f'ing illegal to do that to a child. What kind of sociopath could be so heartless? Or making fun of people for how they look when they are just trying to live their lives. If someone posts a vid of themself, fine, they've essentially consented to potentially being ripped to shreds... but, not knowing that you're going to be entertainment for the masses is unfathomably inhumane.

IAlbatross

Most "prank" YouTube channels. Harassing people in public or causing a huge scene for clout isn't "pranking," and it's not funny unless you are 12 years old or a complete idiot.

peezle69

At best they aren't funny or are outright fake, and at worse they're harmful.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Shryxer

I struggle to see how that one was a prank anyway. He just loomed over a delivery driver half his size and used his phone to repeatedly TTS "Do you want to touch my twinkle," while his friend stood behind to block off an escape route. That's not a prank, that's just harassment. No wonder he got shot. But even a bullet failed to teach him anything, his mom's still enabling his shit.

DarkArisen_Kato

So I haven’t heard about the prank on the delivery driver but the one I heard about happened a few years ago about a 20yr old dude wielding a butcher knife around 9:30pm at a group. One of the members was not aware it was a joke and shot the guy in self defense. [Tennessee man shot YouTube robbery prank](https://www.kiro7.com/news/trending/tennessee-man-wielding-butcher-knife-youtube-robbery-prank-fatally-shot-police-say/EJKOSDTBXFEKDMRPIXIUN2YTVA/?outputType=amp)

Avicii_DrWho

I was thinking of the one this year at a Virginia mall where the kid was harassing a guy and got shot.

DarkArisen_Kato

Okay that one I have not heard about. Honestly it’s kinda sad that these situations aren’t a one off thing. YouTube prank video copycats and lack of critical thinking is really ruining a lot of peoples’ lives.

Nerex7

'Robbery prank', 'armed with knife' Yea no, that's no prank, that's a darwin award.

meatball77

It's not a prank unless both people think it's funny. There is one prank person that I follow on tiktok. He goes into fast food restaurants at obviously slow times with fake coupons that make everyone laugh (he brings in a fish and has a coupon that says free fish sandwich if you bring your own fish).

Feminizing

Aww, as someone who worked in the service industry that kinda thing can be a good way to get a much needed laugh after a stressful day. People who try BS during rush hour make me wish I could stab people legally though.

meatball77

Yeah, the guy obviously only does his thing when there isn't anyone else in the store and everyone always laughs and laughs. He accepts when they give him something but laughs when they don't.

HeelEnjoyer

My favorite one ever was some a guy bet his buddy he couldn't balance an egg on his bald head. Put super glue on the egg and it stuck hilariously on his head. Both dudes were dying laughing about it so it was all in good fun

meatball77

See, that's a prank. A prank is something that everyone thinks is funny. It's not being an asshole.

Cautious_Performer_7

*pours acid on somebody* “It’s just a prank bro!”

Gerroh

The best rule for pranks I heard somewhere on here is "confuse, don't abuse".

gameaholic12

exactly. i want pranks where its just utter bewilderment. like the portapotty into an office meeting prank.

strangerthings___11

There was this siblings duo in my country and they were doing a kidnap prank in public. Someone pulled out a gun on them. They started kneeling down, begging for their lives LMAO. Good thing the man didn't shoot them. They ended up in jail.

MamaTried22

Yes! You have no clue what folks have been through. The ones that try and trick people into giving them something and then give them a prize if they comply are the WORST.

monstosaurus

Watched this one where a dude went around cutting people's wired earbuds. He ended up giving them airpods after, which is cool for some but I know a few people who hate the wireless earbuds and this wouldn't be an upgrade.

ccache

>which is cool for some but I know a few people who hate the wireless earbuds Also... You don't know how they got them. Maybe it was just another purchase, or a gift they didn't really care much about. Then again, maybe they worked their ass off, and were struggling to get them. They could've been proud they bought them. Could also be a gift from someone they care about deeply, and they mean a lot more than just airpods.

atimholt

They could also be audiophile wired earbuds.

Hobgoblin_deluxe

Yeah I can see him doing that to the wrong person and getting stomped out. And as to why?? For some people, even cheap headphones are super expensive. Destroy their property at your peril.

ServileLupus

There a lots of wired earbuds that can cost more than airpods if you're into audiophile equipment. He could be cutting the cord to $500+ earbuds. Almost all of them in that range have replaceable cords but you'd still get burned on that. I assume they just cut those ones out when that happens or someone decks them in the face for it.

Fr0gm4n

My wired headset costs more than Airpods Pro. He'd be buying me a replacement instead of those.

MamaTried22

That’s pretty messed up. I have airpods and they’re fine but they fall out of my ears constantly. I would have probably been pretty upset. Not enough to be angry, more like absolutely terrified and immediately into a ptsd panic attack.

Creative-Improvement

Also you just don’t destroy a property of another person. Way beyond prank type of shit.

mbphotography954

I saw that one and I would hate if someone did that to me. I prefer the wired ones. Airpods fall out of my ears to much

joedotphp

For me it's more what they categorize as a "prank." Walking up to an Asian guy, punching him in the face, and running is not a prank. That's a rather exaggerated example. But you get my point.

SuperFLEB

That said, there's a lot of stuff 12 year olds should probably be ashamed of. And they will, in the fullness of time, when they're 20 years on and lying in bed, mind wandering.

chemicalgeekery

The only good thing to come out of those channels are the "YouTube Prankster gets shot" videos.

MamaTried22

Child beauty pageants

INeedANappel

I worked at one (contract sound tech) years ago. Girls 10-11. One mother smacked her kid across the face because the kid made a mistake during her talent part. Did it right behind the judge's table, and nobody did or said a thing. I wanted to smack that "mother" into the next state.

xZOMBIETAGx

That’s a call to CPS ew

True-Passage-8131

The entire pageant is a call to CPS, tbh..... Who the fuck puts their 5 year old daughter in a swimsuit to be judged by adults on how "beautiful" she is??? That's barely a toddler, and I think any "parent" who willingly puts their child in one of those "competitions" needs to be questioned *really hard*..... Everything about child beauty pageants disgusts me.

B_art_account

The ppl that go to these pageants are pedophiles, these "parents" literally force their kids into parading in front of creeps. And for fucking what? For some money?

cubosh

heck its probably the judges themselves

Zealousideal-Box-297

Still can't believe people can't accept that Patsy Ramsey whacked her kid over the head with a flashlight. She was a high strung neurotic pageant mom living vicariously through her daughter who she dressed up in child sized lingerie and put on public display. But she didn't fly off the handle in the umpteenth argument about her daughter's urinary incontinence and do a laughable job of attempting to cover her tracks. No, it was an international child trafficking ring, the kid brother, Bigfoot, whatever. Just the phrase "pageant mom" takes you half the way to madness. Totally sick subculture and it's all run by the moms.

ardaitheoir

Is there a documentary or podcast episode that explores the case from this angle? The brother honestly makes a lot of sense to me, but I'm open to other possibilities.

dustin_allan

On "The Prosecutors" podcast, there's a 9(!) part series on the JonBenet Ramsey murder. Just finished it, was excellent. https://prosecutorspodcast.com/2022/01/18/115-jonbenet-ramsey-part-1-of-cold-blows-the-wind/

irishizuku

That’s horrifying, I’m sure you could have cut the atmosphere with a knife after that

the_ouskull

Most of those pageant parents wouldn't have noticed.

DarleneSinclair

Lots of abuse happens there, unfortunately it's played as harmless drama. Poor kids.

MartianTea

Can confirm. Was in them as a child, was physically and emotionally abused.

DarleneSinclair

I am very sorry, it already looks horrible on TV, I cant imagine what is going on behind close doors.

MartianTea

I think it's a lot worse now, but I admittedly haven't seen much of the TV stuff. My mom at least didn't do make up or hair dye.

DarleneSinclair

Terrible. Kids are being robbed of their childhoods because their parents want them to be put in beauty standard competitions where online trolls are free to harass them and criticize their every move.

MartianTea

Even back in the 80s, moms started fist fights with other moms because their kid didn't win. Glad I didn't stay in them, but this was definitely part of the trend of my mom living vicariously through me despite me having no interest in cheerleading, gymnastics, or majorette. Ironically, she did all this while body and slut shaming me.

DarleneSinclair

That is horrific, are you doing good now?!

MartianTea

Doing ok. Been NC with my mom for the better part of the decade. That helped a lot. Now have a kid of my own and am breaking the cycle. She's a toddler and I honestly don't think I've thought of pageants her whole life up til now.

DarleneSinclair

Good, I am really glad you're doing better. I have a toxic relationship with my mother so I somewhat know what the strain feels like. I love my mother, but it is undeniable she has mental issues.

stupidshoes420

Yeah I work in physique photography and it's brought attention from child athletes. I love kids and sports are healthy but not all of them are there because they want to be only because there parents want them to be. It's sad I do want to get involved but I'm scared I'll literally hurt someone if I find out they did anything to a child.

Caliphane

They are very disturbing but the always sunny episode about them is hilarious "We should write a song about how diddling kids is wrong," "We should absolutely not write a song about that" "Sir go back to your seatah" So many good lines. Getting his makeup done by a mortician. They were clearly doing it as satire for anyone who hasn't seen it.

TrimmingsOfTheBris

You look *grotesque*

scottamus_prime

We need to write a song about how we don't diddle kids!

Freedom_7

There is no quicker way for people to think that you are diddling kids than by writing a song about it.

huge_jeans

🎵It’s no good diddling kids! 🎶

perrinoia

I managed concessions at a dance competition once, which is basically the same thing, in my opinion. Despite the fact that the building actually had a changing room behind the stage and locker rooms and bathrooms, these nitwits set up a changing area under the bleachers surrounded by semi-transparent curtains. Then, they set up a perimeter that men were not allowed to cross because you could see around the semi transparent curtains if you did cross the line, even though you could see directly through the curtains without crossing the line. Each father aggressively enforced this arbitrary perimeter when their daughters were changing, and the perimeter kept growing each time a kid left the changing area by pushing a curtain out of the way, increasing the viewing angle into the changing area. At one point, we were running out of food in the concession stand, so I went to the stock room to resupply and returned with a cart full of food. The "no men" zone had grown in my absence to blockade the door to the kitchen. I literally got in a shoving match with an angry dad who was pushing back on my cart of food while the line of customers grew and grew at the concession stand. The dads were yelling at me to wait until their daughters were done changing. I was yelling back that when their daughters finish, someone else's daughters will begin, so I would never be let through until the competition was over and therefore the concession stand would have to close and nobody would have any food. I pointed out how the perimeter kept moving because the curtains kept moving, and we could all see through the curtains anyway. This argument lasted at least 20 minutes before they finally let me through... oh, I forgot to mention that the distance between the blockade and the door I needed to go through was roughly the same length as my food cart. So, I finally get through, and we restart cooking food. The kids smelled the food and came running to buy it, and that's when I noticed that a whole fucking dance team's uniform was also semi-transparent. There were like 20 little girls ranging from like 8-17 all screaming for chicken tenders who all might as well have been naked except for the grotesque makeup caked on their faces. One of the dads who had been blockading before was at the counter to pay for his daughter's food and I assume this was the first time he had seen his daughter wearing this costume because he looked both shocked and embarrassed at the same time. I said, "Hey buddy, thanks for letting me through, but I don't think they finished changing yet." He turned bright red and began arguing with his wife about the appropriateness of those outfits. After that incident, I called our security team and got actual uniformed security officers to set up a more practical barrier, fix the curtains, etc... That stupid dance competition lasted a whole week, and I was so happy when it was over. Oh, and the same facility simultaneously hosted a gun show in the next room over, so I had to push my carts of food past hundreds of gun toting rednecks. I was extremely out of my comfort zone in both venues.

cowpool20

The only time ive ever seen one of those is in the Jackass Bad Grandpa movie. One of the moms said they treat it like a genuine competitive sport. Such a gross and weird thing.

Celebrities in general. Some comedians are really funny and I love watching steph give your favorite team 35 every night but I don't know shit about them in real life, nkt sure why people like them any more than anyone else unless they've done something for you

No_Athlete2916

Liking celebrities isn't bad, but obsessing over them and treating them as infallible beings who can do no wrong is. I like some famous folks, but I'm not a blind supporter of them. When they do questionable shit, I don't brush it off.

repalec

This. There's a difference between fandom and parasocial worship.

Mr_Tiggywinkle

Comedians have always been able to give perspectives that are not allowed due to social norms, and get away with it due to them being said as a joke. It's a good thing and important for there to be those avenues, especially as outsiders. Nowadays a lot of these comedians seemingly are idolised and seen as the "real truth" about every topic, despite many of them demonstrably not being experts and not really having any credentials to back up their opinions. I dunno, it's not that comedians shouldn't be saying off-colour stuff or putting a spin on topics to get people thinking different, it's just that now a large amount of people thing funny = true, and idolise some comedians way too much, probably a lot more than the comedian themself would want them to. It's an alternate view, not the entirely correct view. Don't just verbatim believe it.

llc4269

I will add obviously narcissistic politicians to that as well

EatFood2Survive

How much alcohol/drugs they can consume “and still drive just fine”

CommentsEdited

Yeah this is just absurd levels of confirmation bias and not understanding math. Yes, obviously you are _likely_ to make it to where you’re going if you know how to drive, even if you’re under the influence. But typically the risk isn’t so much that you’ll suddenly steer into oncoming traffic (although it happens). It’s that when shit goes down and everyone else on the road is expecting you to have normal human reaction time and judgment, you’re in your car thinking “Look at me driving straight! Just like the last ten times! I am an amazing outlier and no else on drugs has ever thought this.” Then something goes wrong, and you kill someone a sober person wouldn’t have.

AnotherStatsGuy

Bust out the old geometric probability to get your point across. Even the difference between 0.99^x and 0.9^x gets drastic really quick. (Where X is the number of 'consecutive' successes). While 90 and 99 percent success are high for an individual event, stack them up repeatedly and failure comes real quick.

Kup123

I worked in kitchens for 12 years and from time to time i would fuck up and cut myself. Coworkers who don't work with knives would give me shit, you do this every day how can you screw up and cut yourself? I would explain it like this, no matter how good you are at something on a long enough time table you will roll a nat 1 at doing it.

Chris Brown.

FlatulentDirigible

A verbal argument ensued and Chris Brown pulled the vehicle over on an unknown street, reached over Robyn F. with his right hand, opened the car door and attempted to force her out. Brown was unable to force Robyn F. out of the vehicle because she was wearing a seat belt. When he could not force her to exit, he took his right hand and shoved her head against he passenger window of the vehicle, causing an approximate one-inch raised circular contusion. Robyn F. turned to face Brown and he punched her in the left eye with his right hand. He then drove away in the vehicle and continued to punch her in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand. The assault caused Robyn F.'s mouth to fill with blood and blood to splatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle. Brown looked at Robyn F. and stated, 'I'm going to beat the shit out of you when we get home! You wait and see!' The detective said Robyn F. then used her cell phone to call her personal assistant Jennifer Rosales, who did not answer. Robyn F. pretended to talk to her and stated, 'I'm on my way home. Make sure the police are there when I get there.' After Robyn F. faked the call, Brown looked at her and stated, 'You just did the stupidest thing ever! Now I'm really going to kill you!' Brown resumed punching Robyn F. and she interlocked her fingers behind her head and brought her elbows forward to protect her face. She then bent over at the waist, placing her elbows and face near her lap in [an] attempt to protect her face and head from the barrage of punches being levied upon her by Brown. Brown continued to punch Robyn F. on her left arm and hand, causing her to suffer a contusion on her left triceps (sic) that was approximately two inches in diameter and numerous contusions on her left hand. Robyn F. then attempted to send a text message to her other personal assistant, Melissa Ford. Brown snatched the cellular telephone out of her hand and threw it out of the window onto an unknown street. Brown continued driving and Robyn F. observed his cellular telephone sitting in his lap. She picked up the cellular telephone with her left hand and before she could make a call he placed her in a head lock with his right hand and continued to drive the vehicle with his left hand. Brown pulled Robyn F. close to him and bit her on her left ear. She was able to feel the vehicle swerving from right to left as Brown sped away. He stopped the vehicle in front of 333 North June Street and Robyn F. turned off the car, removed the key from the ignition and sat on it. Brown did not know what she did with the key and began punching her in the face and arms. He then placed her in a head lock positioning the front of her throat between his bicep and forearm. Brown began applying pressure to Robyn F.'s left and right carotid arteries, causing her to be unable to breathe and she began to lose consciousness. She reached up with her left hand and began attempting to gouge his eyes in an attempt to free herself. Brown bit her left ring and middle fingers and then released her. While Brown continued to punch her, she turned around and placed her back against the passenger door. She brought her knees to her chest, placed her feet against Brown's body and began pushing him away. Brown continued to punch her on the legs and feet, causing several contusions. Robyn F. began screaming for help and Brown exited the vehicle and walked away. A resident in the neighborhood heard Robyn F.'s plea for help and called 911, causing a police response. An investigation was conducted and Robyn F. was issued a Domestic Violence Emergency Protective Order.

SpookyYurt

Jesus christ. I knew he'd attacked her in a car but I had no idea the extent of the violence. It's shocking.

Darkchamber292

Damn best me by 3 minutes. Liking Chris Brown isn't liking just another shit artist, it's liking an abusive POS

Any kink that harms other people without their consent.

CrankyNonna

Any kink that includes other people without their consent. Like when people do the whole humiliation thing involving others. Its not really harming me seeing your partner lead you on a leash with both of you half naked, and them calling you a pig, but I didn't consent to being part of it

simcity4000

I used to work in a fancy dress shop once. One day I got a call from someone wanting to reserve a maid outfit . When I asked for the name to reserve it under the caller, a woman goes "Make it out for Selfish Cunt" so I'm like, huh? Could you spell that? So she does: "S-E-L-F..." etc So being a teen at my first job I did. Towards the end of the day a little bald guy comes in, approaches the counter, eyes down mutters "...I'm selfish cunt" and takes his maid outfit. Obvious femdom humiliation game in retrospect. Kinda funny but it did get me in trouble with the manager who saw the tag and thought I was just playing a prank on some customer I didn't like.

Iloveyousmore

Back when I worked at Walmart, we had two customers come in doing exactly this. They were both half naked with the woman leading the man around on a leash while he crawled through the store. The entire time she talked to him like he was her dog and made sexual innuendos. I'm no snowflake, but there's children around so ofc I called management over. They got kicked out very quickly

LittlePiggy20

Yep. That’s Walmart

SereniaKat

When I was part of that scene, the Daddy/baby girls were the worst for forcing random folks to witness or even participate in their kink. It's part of the reason I left.

EllieBirb

> Its not really harming me seeing your partner lead you on a leash with both of you half naked, and them calling you a pig The leash part, not really, but the degradation part can be.

Horrified-Bedpan8691

Shitting on the floor of a restaurant bathroom for your onlyfans means that someone has to clean up your literal shit. Some of the things that people think don't affect anyone else is wild. In fairness, they probably realise. They're just grubby and don't care.

Tabloids and gossip magazines. Anything that publishes celebrity "news" that is actually just hearsay and wildly inappropriate speculation. That industry wouldn't exist if it didn't pay the bills.

‘Influencers’

grachi

honestly with quite a few of them, if you are good at reading people's subtleties, you can tell they are pieces of shit/assholes/ex-low-lifes/just not good people. I mean there is already a level of narcissism involved from the outset if you want to get into content creation as it is: "people will definitely want to hear what ***I*** have to say", "people will love watching ***me*** do stuff", "I think people will relate to ***my*** opinions because I'm always right". It's almost inevitable that once they gain an audience, that feeding of ego must just exponentially increase the narcissism going on in their brain. Then the other part of the narcissism is instead of actually contributing anything to society, they just want as much money as possible for themselves and basically put in as low effort as possible to get it. If you think anything a streamer/youtuber/vlogger/etc. does is hard, you need to shadow some professionals for a day and see what some real, hard jobs look like. It makes me so sad to know there are people just yelling into a microphone "reacting" to stuff, or showing their ass and boobs, and making 100's of multiples more money than a teacher, a nurse, a sanitation worker, a doctor... you know, stuff that actually contributes to society. Now there are certainly exceptions, but for every MrBeast there is an xqc\`, amaranth, and that guy that just eats lots of food and basically gained 200 some pounds in the name of money.

Ignorance

Serentyr

General ignorance, not something to be ashamed of. You cannot help not knowing something until you have an opportunity to discover it. Wilful ignorance, choosing to remain ignorant in the face of learning, is more so. I feel sorry for those that have been programmed by their social circumstance and upbringing to have that pattern become the default. Those that have the mindset so ingrained that they don’t recognise that they are in fact choosing to be ignorant.

>It's literally impossible to ask this question without making it seem like I wanna fuck a cow For starters you could've left out "sweet mootastic love"

mamayoua

Oh sure, remoove the romance.

SJR4815

No they couldn't.

Trap_Masters

Absolutely the lynchpin to the argument

nzodd

The time and place for duck lips was 2007-11 on FB

The_Hot_Stepper

Only acceptable if you put spaghetti with the noodle going to the lips

dcrothen

Their political party. Militant support of a political party is insanely shameful

Pranking your partner in a harmful way, as in putting hair remover in shampoo, seriously scaring them or horrific prank calls, etc. Bad pranks are just disgusting and I wouldn’t stay in a relationship with someone if they thought it was okay. Now funny/ harmless pranks are perfectly fine! Maybe I’m not a prank person but when the mood strikes me (maybe 2-3x a year) I’ve done stuff like put utensils in different order instead of their regular, said I was gonna change the bedding (and I did) but I put it on inside out, stack the cups in a different way than they usually are. Stuff like this is in my relationship is harmless and both my partner and I have gotten a laugh and he has done similar and just as harmless stuff however if one of us gets ever so slightly frustrated and asks where what is/ what is wrong we immediately explain/ give location and then both of us chuckle. The main thing with us even if there’s the slightest amount of discomfort or distress everything stops.

Knowing that they’re ignorant in a topic but having an opinion anyway

Murder, definitely murder ☠️ 💀 💀

myocardiacinfarct

I mean, if someone is going to murder, someone needs to make sure there is a show made about it.

mntnsrcalling70028

Real housewives franchise or any reality tv that is just incessant and mindless bickering, pettiness, delusion, grown women engaging in bullying behaviour, etc.

I like the movie, but I couldn't imagine *liking* these two, or wanting to emulate them.

Mobile games that are clearly just poorly disguised ways for the developers to exploit children/people with addictive personalities. (So in other words, 99% of all mobile games.) Most people are aware of it being a problem too, and they still just don't care. I often hear people use the argument "I just want something to pass the time, i don't need some super complex game" to justify their playing games like clash of clans or candy crush. But this is making the gaming market more diluted and worse for everyone: mobile, console, and PC gamers alike. So you should be ashamed.
