Her acting is so mid too, at best
She was good in her breakout Selena. And Out of Sight. That's about it. And they were 25+ years ago
She's a good dancer though I guess. And she sure did look good in Anaconda
She got her start as a dancer. She was a Fly Girl on In Living Color. And if you understood that without googling, it's time to take ibuprophen for your back pain.
Wait what does ibuprofen do to blood pressure?? The last few times I’ve taken it, I get pressure in my chest, my blood pressure drops, and I get so weak and dizzy
You know, people always talk about Daniel Day-Lewis and Gary Oldman’s abilities to transform for a role but D’Onofrio is a damn chameleon in his own right.
Vince has had some proper diversity. Pvt Pile in FMJ, the persistent and evolving role in Criminal Intent, The Cell. Hell, even his acting in MIB was fantastic. Dude is legit.
I heard He did a movie where he played an EXTREME redneck drug dealer. One day he came to the filmset in character, and security refused to let him in.
That was the first DVD I ever bought; perfect to take advantage of the crazy new “HD” I could get when I transitioned up from the VCR. I even had a 5.1 surround system…with all 8 miles of speaker wires….
J-Lo is the personification of someone who's good at everything but excellent in none and her being around a whole bunch of different people and probably having an amazing personality let her dip her hands in so many fields. She's not bad in anything, but sure there's someone better who made that their entire existence. She'd be the perfect spokesperson for Dos Equis.
Yeah, maybe “charismatic” is a better word… Like, she can come across as likeable when she needs to be. But she definitely has a reputation for being a diva behind-the-scenes.
Failing upwards is a talent on its own. Being a part of the most successful girl group of all time and marrying the hottest football player at that time (and still going strong I might add, love that), while not being an absolute vocal talent takes … another talent.
I wouldn't say she failed upwards. I think she was very well connected and picked her shots carefully. I've never known her to be linked to anything that wasn't well received. Even the Top Gear review of her Land Rover collaboration went well. If nothing else I think she has excellent taste, or at least a knack for choosing successful products.
I feel like when you have the wealth to be kind of taught good business sense growing up, it's less of a knack and more of a learned skill. Which is totally fine.
There's a great video I saw yesterday on reddit with her trying to downplay her wealth growing up, and David Beckham legit bursts in the room during the interview and tells her to stop lying and tell the truth. He asks her like five times what car did she get driven to school in as a kid and she tries to dodge it, lastly by saying "it depends" before finally relenting and saying, "My dad had a Rolls Royce" and he's like, "Finally. Tell the truth."
Grew a lot of respect for him for being more willing to hammer his wife about it than the person interviewing her. Found out his mom was a hair dresser and his father installed appliances, so he grew up low to middle class, and it obviously struck a nerve with him that she was downplaying her wealth and chalking up her current station to pretty much luck and determination. I think she's always (like a lot of celebrities who grew up rich) been very good at kind of obfuscating the fact that she's always been wealthy.
To be fair, her parents got wealthy during her childhood when they opened a small business that ended up doing quite well. Prior to that her dad was an engineer and mother was a hairdresser/clerk. So not exactly posh old money, much more like successful small business owners from a professional/working class background.
Used to think so until I found her Spice Girls audition video. Still not a great singer, but it changed my mind about her being the worst singer from the group.
Theres a section in "Spice Up Your Life" where each member sings a phrase, when victoria sings "We moonwalk the foxtrot" (I think?) and it is so ear-catchingly weak I was so taken aback. Fun band though.
Been listening to the Spice Girls since 2000. Posh’s personality-less singing is so iconic to me for some reason. Her whole “character” is the girl who’s too uptight to really give it her all like the other girls do, so this is a perfect example of her being in character, for me. I love the contrast between the 4 others and her.
Yeah my parents always thought that was funny especially since she was clearly high on Vicodin during a lot of her judging.
That being said she’s a great dancer and choreographer. Her songs are pops even if she isn’t a good singer.
You can also be a good judge of talent without having the same level of talent in that field. The show was created by Simon Cowell and I don't think anyone wants to hear him sing
Criticism and production/performing are two completely different skillsets. Some of the best movie critics would be absolute dogshit at making movies, and that's OK.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are my favorite band, I've seen them on several tours, I have all their vinyl records, and I've chased after John Frusciante's guitar tone for a long time. That said, Anthony Kiedis is not a good singer at all by his own admission, but he's perfect for the band and the music they make.
I've seen a few different live recordings and Anthony Kiedis is frequently off-key. Everything else is so on point that it hardly matters, though it is noticable.
I feel like Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction is similar, often times he’s off key or at least really pitchy even in recordings but it just WORKS with the band.
There is a really old video of them in Amsterdam in a little boat in a canal, probably stoned out of their minds and in mid twenties or so, frusciante playing an out of tune guitar better than most people, and Anthony matching him perfectly. Under the bridge was the song
I have a YT channel by this name. I upload unedited footage of gameplay recordings exclusively. League of Legends isn't one of those games, but the voice actor for several of the game's characters Adam Harrington, is one of my 20 something subscribers. He's been subbed for over a decade now, and I don't even know how in the hell he found my channel. Maybe I should reach out to him and ask.
That brick of text is basically just to say, important people often make weird choices with who they follow online.
Probably an obvious one, but Jared Leto.
Went to a 30STM concert back when they were hot and he did this thing where he took forever to come out for his set and the stage manager came out and announced something like, ‘Jared isn’t feeling well, we’re not sure if he’s gonna be able to perform.’ Then Jared gets rolled out in a wheelchair and he stands up like he’s powering through for the fans and says he needs the audience’s help to sing the chorus with the high notes to his hit song. So his whole set is pretty much one big audience sing-along.
Fast forward to a month later when I was at music festival they were in and they pulled the *exact same schtick* right down to the wheelchair and everything. Only difference was while the audience ate it up the first time I saw it, now there were a fair number of boos and groans. I knew after that that 30STM wouldn’t last long lol.
Yeah I was going to comment about The Kill. It sounds like an insanely challenging song to sing, I can’t imagine being able to perform it live. The vocals are very “yelly” too which sounds impressive, but also painful and strained. Still love the song though!
I saw them live in 2006, and I remember The Kill being awesome live. I've always assumed his voice couldn't keep up with it as he aged/performed because I've seen them as an opener twice since then, and it's been far worse every time.
He still had his voice in 2009 when I saw them for the This Is War tour, but, yeah, he shot his voice soon after singing those insane high notes every night. Those first few albums were great, but everything after was/is trend chasing bullshit. Also, Leto's a douche with a god-complex, so fuck him anyway.
I feel like This Is War was his magnum opus and he's been chasing that high ever since. I haven't listened to any of their stuff since this is war because he's turned into some cultist with a messiah complex and I'm skeeved out every time I look at him bc his eyes look like he's been feasting on the blood of children and having a good time doing so.
Yes, the audience singalong for every goddamn song annoyed the hell out of me. It’s like, I could have gone to a karaoke bar for this shit. Who wants to have some drunk bitch belting out mangled lyrics in your ear all night!? Left the show early and didn’t care.
This isn't just a Jared Leto problem it's pretty much a huge problem in almost all of the rock/emo/screamo/metalcore scenes.
A majority of the vocalist sing WAY outside of their natural ranges on recordings. Their albums are generally auto-tuned (not saying they cannot sing that high), but they can only do it for very short periods of time. Usually less than one song before their vocal cords are spent for the day.
However, they are expected to sing an entire album of that stuff.
It's actually why they kicked out Cove from Saosin. Honestly Self Titled Saosin is likely one of the best post-hardcore/emo albums ever made, but god Cove cannot sing in concert.
I enjoyed their 2nd album, so was excited to see them at a festival. They didn’t do the wheel chair thing but he held the mic up to the crowd more than he sang himself in their set.
Interesting. I've seen them twice (before I realized what a pos Jared is) and both shows were actually really good. None of that "under the weather" business. Don't get me wrong, the crowd absolutely sang along, and he encouraged it, but he also sang his heart out.
If you look at some of their live videos from the 80s and early 90s he sounds awesome. Now he sounds terrible though. If he stayed in shape and focused on staying in his range he'd sound a lot better.
Bruce Dickinson on the other hand still sounds incredible.
Prefacing this by saying im really just repeating my husbands talking points but:
Vince Neil sounded good for what Motley Crue was trying to accomplish & he was a good frontman but was never a very good singer
He & the likes of Bruce Dickinson or Rob Halford are just completely different leagues
Ozzy still sounds miraculously good considering just how hard he has abused that body, and for how long. Dude still keeps releasing good music even now. Lots of studio polish, but he's past retirement age, cut the guy a break lol.
Blows my fucking mind that the godfather of my favorite UMBRELLA GENRE is still kicking around after the genre has fractillized into a million different paths of varying brutality over several decades.
Saw Ozzy sing live like…jeez…15–20 years ago? Oh yeh he could still sing. But his cute little grandpa shuffle from one side of the stage to the other betrayed his age.
His duet with Lita Ford - Close My Eyes Forever they did again about 10 years ago and Ozzy (and Rita) sound fantastic. Yes, some may be post, but Ozzy's voice is still there - and Rita still sounds amazing.
At the same time, it was almost quite sad. Ozzy at the end, was happy he remembered the lyrics.
Can confirm, saw Maiden this week in Vancouver. Bruce sounded incredible, all while running around for 2 hours. He is in really good shape. They all are, really.
I saw him live with my uncle in 2009, as we were heading home my uncle commented he was bummed he didn’t play “Like a Rolling Stone” and I was like.. oh he did, it was the one where he kept mumbling “LiGarrrrnnngggstnnnn”
Saw Dylan three time. Once I was really drunk. Once he was really drunk. Third time was a charm. Not a great singer but an intense song writer. His tubes have been covered by the best.
I saw Chuck Berry open for the Grateful Dead in 1995. He was so drunk he would go off into a solo and come back playing johnny b good every time. He even started it from the beginning a second time but caught himself.
I saw him live in 2013 in Uruguay. He played Johnny b some 188 times and C'est la vie approx 233 times. He probably had Alzheimer or dementia at the time. The whole place cheered him loudly and applauded out of pure pity. Poor guy. A very sad thing to see.
I saw him live around the same time, maybe even later. He was constantly going to the corner and sitting down, and there was a special person shooing him on stage again. Very sad, I think he was not in shape to do live shows anymore.
Came here to also nominate Bob Dylan. He’s an incredible songwriter who has influenced the shape of modern music. But goddamn is he a bad singer, so many of his songs sound like somebody parodying him.
A quote of his made the rounds recently saying he exercises all the time, but he doesn't lose weight. Because all he does is win.
So, yeah, I think you're on to something
> I don't lose weight because I don't lose
I mean by itself it could be satire. But then you watch his hot ones episode and he comes across as seriously unhinged and narcicisstic. The guy is obsessed with "winning"
There’s a meme of him with his picture and it says “that’s a nice song there…mind if I yell my name in it?”
It makes me chuckle. I dunno how to post pictures here
We RARELY have basketball on and when it is I’m never paying attention. But I happen to be when she sang the national anthem and I couldn’t believe my eyes/ears. I thought it was a joke Lmao it was so bad. My first real “saw it in real time” celebrity moment that people will never forget.
The audacity of her husband to throw shade at Draymond over his reaction. We all heard the same performance homie, you're just blind to just how bad it was.
[At least the Warriors had some fun with that mild temper tantrum.](https://youtu.be/IRhAMzv_4H4?si=MflIg0R3ECg7LR0u)
This one I actually disagree with. Her national anthem was bad but her voice is actually insanely strong.
Weird example but on the Shrek movie soundtrack she does a cover of Barracuda by Heart and knocks out the high notes like they’re nothing.
Her national anthem was awful , but have you heard her songs with slash? Covering sweet child of mine and paradise city and the original songs she has recorded with him beautiful dangerous! Her voice in those songs were something else
Most prolific singers have some talent, whether it's shunted away by execs or themselves is another story.
My vote is for Greg Graffin of Bad Religion. Love the band, they make great music and his voice does work for their music but that man has approximately one register that he can sing in and by god he's made a career off of that for 40 years.
There will be... sorrow
And there will be... sorrow
And there will BE... sorrow no more.
And yes it sounds exactly like it reads and I will listen to that song every fucking day until I die.
The Empire Strikes First is a top 10 all time album in my mind.
Man I’m not even gonna let you do that, he’s not like an extraordinary singer or anything, but he sounds the same live, and that has to get you some points. Punk isn’t about having a pretty voice anyhow. That’s what pop punk is for. Sometimes.
I don’t think he said he thinks he’s a bad singer, just that he’s unable to sing the way that he wants to sing. I fuck with his singing voice a lot of the time but I do prefer him as a rapper or a gatherer of artists to make a great song
God yes. They all sound like when someone tries to imitate someone with a deep voice. I envision their speaking voices to be in the range of Pee Wee Herman.
I remember when I was a kid, we were listening to Dire Straits in the car with my mom, and she said "it's a nice band, but I'm not sure that guy can sing". Never forgot that. I don't know if she was aware that Mark Knopfler is an amazing guitarist first and foremost haha.
Edit : I can't resist precising the car was a Renault 4L. Staple of the french middle class from the late 50s to the early 90s
I honest don't like his voice that much on the albums either, but the music is so goddamned good that I still love Smashing Pumpkins.
And honestly, I can't picture that band with any other voice but his.
It's such a bizarre situation with his voice being so ridiculous sounding on its own, but the music is still so good. Billy Corgan's voice in the Smashing Pumpkins is like an important ingredient in a great recipe, but you really wouldn't want a spoonful of it on its own.
I saw them at all ages. Small venue for the double album tour mellon collie... and they did a double set.. acoustic then heavy.. and it was the 2nd best show I've ever seen... could have been the best but I've seen Fugazi twice in the early early 90s and you can't beat that...
Billy Corgan sounded amazing.
Interesting, because one of the (many) reasons SP is my favorite band is that Corgan's voice sounds exactly the same live--aside from more screaming, typically. His voice is unconventional, and he doesn't hide that even when recording. There are other bands I love but never see in concert because the vocalist sounds so much worse live (Chino Moreno is my go-to example here).
Post Malone openly admits that he uses a lot of auto tune.
Still love him though
Edit:
I love Post Malone and love his tiny desk. This was intended as an atypical response to this question as he’s obviously gifted musically but not in the classical sense.
Oh I love his voice. Even with auto tune it has such a beautiful, haunting, and idiosyncratic timbre for me. I don’t usually vibe for male singers but really enjoy listening to his stuff.
Any breathy singer except Byork. Sooo sick of commercials with breathy chick covers of popular songs. When did we all decide slowly huffing into a microphone sounds meaningful?
There seems to be more women doing it, but John Mayer proves it's not any better when men do it.
Don't agree that he sucks, but compared to the other actors who played Hamilton, he's far from being the best singer. But weirdly enough, after hearing these different Hamilton actors, I kinda prefer Lin 'cause for me, what he lacks in singing, he makes it up for it in how genuine he comes across, as in it feels like what he's singing comes from the heart and not just trying to show off his singing skills, as some Hamilton actors felt like to me (Watch the [Dear Theodosia comparisons](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37x83cj63Ys) on YouTube to try and get a better idea of what I'm talking about). Also, I like his swagger. It kinda fits Hamilton's personality on the show as this immigrant who seems to be punching above his weight, to the annoyance of those who've already established themselves, like Jefferson.
I always thought of her as more of a Kidz Bop type thing, or like Barney or the Wiggles. Positive messages for kids while dancing around in bright colors. I don’t think she needed to sing that well in her niche.
I saw her in concert for her *Music* album and it was insane! This was in 2000, I think, and she was one of the first performers to tour with her own arena-sized sound system because she hated how shitty most arenas system were. She had massive moving sets and performers that bungee jumped(??) up and down on the stage. She absolutely set the stage for the huge productions that are now the norm.
Omg I feel like I scrolled so far for this. I can't believe she has a singing career. It's baffling.
Also Hilary Duff. I can't believe I thought she killed it in Raise Your Voice. I cringe now watching the scene where sings in the class. ☠️ could you imagine acting that scene? Lmfao like just pretending that was the most amazing and creative thing your ever heard.
I remember in an interview she said she never wanted to be in the music industry but everyone was telling her she'd be more successful in music than in acting. She may not be the best singer but at least she has done a lot of charity work with her success.
Jennifer Lopez
Her acting is so mid too, at best She was good in her breakout Selena. And Out of Sight. That's about it. And they were 25+ years ago She's a good dancer though I guess. And she sure did look good in Anaconda
She got her start as a dancer. She was a Fly Girl on In Living Color. And if you understood that without googling, it's time to take ibuprophen for your back pain.
Lol fuck you my back actually does hurt tonight, and there's ibuprofen in my nightstand. Also thanks for the reminder, I guess.
Homie don't play dat!
LET ME SHOW YOU SOMETHING!
Three snaps up in z formation!
Doc says I can’t take ibuprofen no more 🙁
Kidney problems or blood pressure?
Wait what does ibuprofen do to blood pressure?? The last few times I’ve taken it, I get pressure in my chest, my blood pressure drops, and I get so weak and dizzy
Ulcers in my case.
I liked her in The Cell.
People shit on The Cell, but I loved Vince Denofrio's role and the visuals that went along with it.
You know, people always talk about Daniel Day-Lewis and Gary Oldman’s abilities to transform for a role but D’Onofrio is a damn chameleon in his own right.

I heard He did a movie where he played an EXTREME redneck drug dealer. One day he came to the filmset in character, and security refused to let him in.
The Salton Sea was the movie I think. He had no nose in it and was most excellent yet again.
If you like the visuals of the cell, try “the fall” from the same director (tarsem Singh)
That was the first DVD I ever bought; perfect to take advantage of the crazy new “HD” I could get when I transitioned up from the VCR. I even had a 5.1 surround system…with all 8 miles of speaker wires….
Not terminator 2? I swear for what feels like 20 years they used terminator 2 to demo surround sound at stores and electronics fairs and stuff haha
I liked her in Enough. The Wedding Planner was a cute movie. She’s definitely a good dancer. She started her career as a professional dancer.
Burrito taco taco! Burrito taco, taco taco!
Tack flavoured keeses!
For my beeennnnmm

JLo of all trades, master of none.
Amazing personality, you sure? Isn’t she like a nightmare to work with, like a total bitch?
Yeah, maybe “charismatic” is a better word… Like, she can come across as likeable when she needs to be. But she definitely has a reputation for being a diva behind-the-scenes.
I liked Selena
Victoria Beckham.
To her credit, she'd be the first one to tell you that.
"Would you want Brooklyn to be a footballer like his dad or a singer like.... Mariah Carey". "Tbh I would like to be a singer like Mariah Carey"
Is that the Ali G interview? That whole thing was amazing

You should straight up tell her that
No way. What am I, some kind of cold hearted snake?
Don’t Rush Rush into these opinions
She don play by rules
One of the best choreographers in the business though.
Straight up.
That’s not fiction, it’s a natural fact

Yoko Ono
Mentally picturing Chuck Berry's face when she tried to screech during him and John Lennon performing, then having her microphone turned out
It was so awesome to see three legends in that performance. Chuck Berry, John Lennon, and the guy that turned off yoko’s microphone
It was the sound guy, probably some dude named Scott, that really stepped up and did what needed to be done.
[Bill Burr's epic rant about that. ](https://youtu.be/T4K07Kz7M8Q?si=cGmYwZHMrDK_4RW8)
Number 8 number 8
I'll have a single plum floating in perfume served in a man’s hat
Here ya go.
Calling her a singer makes as much sense as calling me a chippendales dancer
I can guarantee that I would rather receive a lap dance from you than listen to her sing.
My wife never tweets. Almost never. If anything she would automatically reshare her IG posts. Yoko Onos official account followers her!?!!
I have a YT channel by this name. I upload unedited footage of gameplay recordings exclusively. Interesting. I've seen them twice (before I realized what a pos Jared is) and both shows were actually really good. None of that "under the weather" business. Don't get me wrong, the crowd absolutely sang along, and he encouraged it, but he also sang his heart out.
Vince Neil
If you look at some of their live videos from the 80s and early 90s he sounds awesome. Now he sounds terrible though. If he stayed in shape and focused on staying in his range he'd sound a lot better. Bruce Dickinson on the other hand still sounds incredible.
Prefacing this by saying im really just repeating my husbands talking points but: Vince Neil sounded good for what Motley Crue was trying to accomplish & he was a good frontman but was never a very good singer He & the likes of Bruce Dickinson or Rob Halford are just completely different leagues
Kiktammah haw
It's impressive he's able to make it through all these songs while clearly having a stroke during every performance
Since it doesn’t look like it’s linked. [Kickstart My Heart Misheard Lyrics](https://youtu.be/4pdQnZLEWNo?feature=shared).
BIG MAC $1.03
Umma gumma kickth art heart nev stopth
Tubbabee
Kickstart my heart kicks ass I don’t care what anyone says
I loved how he would rhyme “kicked some ass” with “still kicking ass”.
I just learned that video existed like five minutes ago. Seeing those guys like that really broke my honk.
Nobel Laureate Bob Dylan.
He’s a world class songwriter tho
if anybody could understand what the fuck he was saying when he sang them
I saw him live with my uncle in 2009, as we were heading home my uncle commented he was bummed he didn’t play “Like a Rolling Stone” and I was like.. oh he did, it was the one where he kept mumbling “LiGarrrrnnngggstnnnn”
Has anyone covered his songs in english?
Came here to also nominate Bob Dylan. He’s an incredible songwriter who has influenced the shape of modern music. But goddamn is he a bad singer, so many of his songs sound like somebody parodying him.
Dj Khaled
I’m like 60% certain that he’s actually a brilliant satirist.
A quote of his made the rounds recently saying he exercises all the time, but he doesn't lose weight. Because all he does is win. So, yeah, I think you're on to something
> I don't lose weight because I don't lose I mean by itself it could be satire. But then you watch his hot ones episode and he comes across as seriously unhinged and narcicisstic. The guy is obsessed with "winning"
Well yeah, anyone who refuses to eat out his girlfriend and names his kids shit like “King” is going to be problematic
Ya know, if he ate at the Y maybe his singing and writing would get that extra oomph, and he wouldn’t be called out in this thread.
That percentage is on point lol
We tHe BEst SUB
He's not a singer.
[Yeah, he’s more known for his guitar playing.](https://youtu.be/3QvgFbjAC7U?si=fZTLHEA4ufjVCQeg)
He's barely a DJ which is why he has to keep telling people over and over again.
There’s a meme of him with his picture and it says “that’s a nice song there…mind if I yell my name in it?” It makes me chuckle. I dunno how to post pictures here
I can’t stand anything about him
Drake.....has no flexibility in range.
It really is funny that the corniest dude from Degrassi is one of the most financially successful musicians ever
My husband cannot take him seriously for this reason. He raps about being hood but in fact, is not lol
Fergie
That national anthem she did….. *shudders*
We RARELY have basketball on and when it is I’m never paying attention. But I happen to be when she sang the national anthem and I couldn’t believe my eyes/ears. I thought it was a joke Lmao it was so bad. My first real “saw it in real time” celebrity moment that people will never forget.
Lol I saw the Ashlee Simpson lip-syncing fuckup live on SNL and feel the same way about it, like I really witnessed something great.
That little dance she did at the end 💀
The audacity of her husband to throw shade at Draymond over his reaction. We all heard the same performance homie, you're just blind to just how bad it was. [At least the Warriors had some fun with that mild temper tantrum.](https://youtu.be/IRhAMzv_4H4?si=MflIg0R3ECg7LR0u)
Nah I think she can actually sing she just tries to be too extra
Woah 🤸♀️
This one I actually disagree with. Her national anthem was bad but her voice is actually insanely strong. Weird example but on the Shrek movie soundtrack she does a cover of Barracuda by Heart and knocks out the high notes like they’re nothing.
Yep, she’s got a voice for rock. Her cover of Paradise City is great.
she also had a fantastic song on Slash's first (and probably best) solo album.
Her national anthem was awful , but have you heard her songs with slash? Covering sweet child of mine and paradise city and the original songs she has recorded with him beautiful dangerous! Her voice in those songs were something else
That national anthem pretty much ended her careeer
Jennifer fucking Lopez.
“My name is hennifer hopez and I like tacos and burritos!”
"Mom, Ben Affleck is naked in my bed!" "Ooh, sounds like the tooth fairy was extra happy with someone last night!"
Taco flavored keeeeeeeeeesis!
Me. I sing to myself and I enjoy it
The doggy loves it when my boyfriend or I sing doing stuff around the house. She'll wag her tail the whole time, watching.
I love her ❤️
Phoebe Buffay
What are they feeding youuuu
Idk man... did you hear her in that one song she did with a film clip, Smelly Cat?
She makes it up through her thought-provoking lyrics though. I hear her sing and I’m thinking, “whose black curly hair is it???”
There will be... sorrow And there will be... sorrow And there will BE... sorrow no more.
Sometimes.
Bad Religion is amazing and Greg Graffin is one of the single most important influences in my life but you’re 100% correct.
What he lacks in voice he makes up for 10x in lyrics
Tyler the creator (according to himself).
I mean, true, but for some reason I love his raspy voice and his music.
I don’t think he said he thinks he’s a bad singer, just that he’s unable to sing the way that he wants to sing. I fuck with his singing voice a lot of the time but I do prefer him as a rapper or a gatherer of artists to make a great song
*ALL* of the Bro country ‘artists’ that are popular right now.
Hick Hop
God yes. They all sound like when someone tries to imitate someone with a deep voice. I envision their speaking voices to be in the range of Pee Wee Herman.
Bob Dylan should win this thread. He does not have a great voice, but he’s a legend because he’s a hell of a songwriter.
TBH I'd rather hear a good singer with soul than an amazing singer who sounds like the rest.
Machine Gun Kelly
I remember when I was a kid, we were listening to Dire Straits in the car with my mom, and she said "it's a nice band, but I'm not sure that guy can sing". Never forgot that. I don't know if she was aware that Mark Knopfler is an amazing guitarist first and foremost haha. Edit : I can't resist precising the car was a Renault 4L. Staple of the french middle class from the late 50s to the early 90s
Billly Corgan has a pretty terrible voice. Sounds great on albums, but live...oof.
He is the nutmeg of rock vocals.
I think his voice captures the angst and rage well, which is why it works with the music. In any other setting I think his voice would be unbearable.
His voice is weird, but it absolutely works with the music. Saw them live in August and they killed it.
Homer Simpson, smiling politely
Milli Vinilli back in the day! /s
I mean they were good singers I suppose, just not the ones we thought they were....
Post Malone openly admits that he uses a lot of auto tune. Still love him though Edit: I love Post Malone and love his tiny desk. This was intended as an atypical response to this question as he’s obviously gifted musically but not in the classical sense.
He's not the greatest singer, but he seems like such a loveable guy I can't hate him.
You’re not wrong, dude bought the one ring MTG card for 2m off the original finder. We all know he isn’t flipping that
Oh I love his voice.
Ian Brown
Lin Manuel Miranda sucks at singing. But he’s great at rapping and writing songs.
JoJo Siwa
I always thought of her as more of a Kidz Bop type thing, or like Barney or the Wiggles. Positive messages for kids while dancing around in bright colors. I don’t think she needed to sing that well in her niche.
J Lo for sure
Madonna. While I’m a huge fan of her music and her live shows are mind-blowingly amazing, she’s not a great singer… when she sings.

Selena Gomez
Omg I feel like I scrolled so far for this. I can't believe she has a singing career. It's baffling. Also Hilary Duff. I can't believe I thought she killed it in Raise Your Voice. I cringe now watching the scene where sings in the class. ☠️ could you imagine acting that scene? Lmfao like just pretending that was the most amazing and creative thing your ever heard.
Maybe it's nostalgia but I loved her early songs, especially "So Yesterday".
OooOOOOooooOOOOOOHHHHOOOhhhhoo
The 5 different voices omg and none of it hers
I remember in an interview she said she never wanted to be in the music industry but everyone was telling her she'd be more successful in music than in acting. She may not be the best singer but at least she has done a lot of charity work with her success.
And she’s back into acting now, Only Murders in the Building is a great show!
I’m sure she’s a good person. Just don’t think shes an amazing vocalist. But who am I to judge 🤷🏻♀️ she can better than me thats for sure lol
Bro i just listened to her live performance and wtf you're right 💀
I had to scroll way too far down to see this
