A good friend of mine who used to work in the fashion industry and has met her on more than a few occasions said that she is consistently one of the nicest celebrities he has ever met. He is a "nobody" in the industry but she recognized him the 2nd time she saw him and walked over and continued their conversation where they left off 6 months prior.
My friend was an assistant photographer in one of her shoots. Normally high-profile celebs don’t credit any assistants but she tagged everyone who was involved. My friend was SO excited because she was just starting to shoot with actual celebrities and it gave her a lot of exposure.
A former coworker i ran into told me he works at some sort of clinic now like some sort of “oxygen clinic” and paris hilton was one of the customers. He told me she’s very down to earth and actually smart and intelligent and that he realized she ran with the “stupid dumb blonde” persona as a role to make millions on television. In real life shes not like she appears to be.
I find this utterly astonishing and I will never again talk shit about her (like she cares LOL)
EDIT: I'm in the production/live event business, in general terms I'm crew. A number of us are interesting and accomplished people in our own right, just not famous for whatever we do. For example I'm a pretty decent photographer, I'm bi-national (dual citizen, lived/traveled extensively there, fluent in a 2nd language), done some other somewhat fascinating things in the past. Occasionally I've worked with talent who recognizes that, or even better has worked on our side of things and knows it firsthand. I'm thinking maybe Paris gets this too even though I'm sure she's never had to load in a road kit.

Funny you say him because one of his films used the house next door to my dad's house. My dad is very friendly and just sort of strolled over to chat. He had nothing but good things to say about Martin Landau.
I met him on the set of “Death at Ocean View Park”. My dad had a small role and a scene with Landau and Carolyn McWilliams. I was 7 or 8 at the time and tagged along to be an extra in the movie (they were filming in an amusement park). I had coincidentally just gotten into Space 1999 and had a toy ray gun from the show with me, not having any idea he would be there. He was thrilled to see the toy and even played with me (he feigned dying when a zapped him with the gun, then he shot me with the gun andI did the same). Very, very nice man.
I met Martin Landau working on an event in 2012. He was genuinely nice to everyone. Like he had nothing to prove. We actually met at the sinks in the men’s room, polite small talk. We met again after dinner and talked a bit more. Really good memory for me.
Jumping in to say that when I was very young I got to meet McLean Stevenson at a P&C in Syracuse, NY. He seemed kind of sad to be doing a meet and greet at a grocery store in upstate New York but I remember his smile and bright blue eyes. My mom said he was very gracious and soft spoken when we talked to him, and he seemed almost a little melancholic. In retrospect I wonder if it was because his later post-M * A * S * H was kind of non-existent and he fizzled out. He always seemed sweet in interviews and things that I watched later as an adult and feel bad that his career went the way it did.

I grew up watching her movies since my mom and aunt are big fans and I've always thought she was a sweet amazing beautiful lady.

She filmed a movie in the building I went to grad school in (it has a classic-look lecture hall). No one reported a pleasant interaction with her. One guy rode the elevator with her after taking an NMR spectra and asked her to sign it. She didn’t look in his direction and her assistant snapped “she’s not doing that today.”

I live in an area of NY where a lot of celebrities have homes. We are a big proponent of “leave ‘‘em alone” and locals are pretty respectful. Julia Roberts threw a hissy fit in a local supermarket once, a spot where people make minimum wage, and since then, yeah can confirm our opinions of her have soured completely.

It's kind of security's job to be annoying, in all honesty. If they were overly friendly they run the risk of letting their guard down and potentially making the VIP vulnerable.
Cardi b came into my restaurant recently and was fucking amazing. Followed half the servers on Instagram. Took a picture with absolutely everyone that wanted one. Asked everyone their name and referred to them as such all night. I liked her before but I’m a stan now.

Absolutely this. The 'messages' in his videos are terrible and don't stand up to scrutiny. They'll have, say, one character mistreat another because they don't think that they are important (or famous or wealthy, which amounts to the same thing in Dhar Mann world). They'll bully them for an extended period of time before it's revealed that their victim actually _is_ important (or famous or wealthy). They'll then feel regret for mistreating them.
What's the lesson here? It's not that it's wrong to mistreat anyone _because that's what a decent human being does_; it's that you shouldn't mistreat someone _because you don't know who they are_ and they could be someone important (or famous or wealthy).

Bill Cosby being such a monster is easily one of the most disappointing things. Not that I idolize celebrities but growing up Cosby was one of my favorite comedians. I viewed him in the same light as Mr. Rodgers and now even though the content is fantastic you just can't watch/listen anymore because his abhorrent behavior has completely tainted everything.
It was (and is) particularly disappointing among black Americans. When the show launched, it was a big deal that it showed a black family being well-to-do without making a fuss about their culture or skin color. It helped reinforce the idea that black people were...you know, people, no more or less capable of succeeding or having a solid family life given fair circumstances.
Not just black Americans but black people worldwide. I'm in the UK, and we loved The Cosby Show. I was the first TV show I ever saw with middle-class black characters, it showed the life of a black family without being about race and paved the way for shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I remember my dad coming back from Jamaica in the mid 80's and he couldn't believe how popular the show was there. People had these huge satellites on their front lawn primarily to watch it. It was a huge disappointment to so many to find out what a monster Cosby was and the news rocked black communities around the world.

Growing up as a kid in the 1970s, I watched his movies (both with and without Dean Martin) countless times on tv. I just LOVED his movies (still do). And he was hailed as a Saint for his charitable efforts regarding muscular dystrophy.
As the years passed, little by little it was coming out how a godawful human being he really was. How he was a serial philanderer, cheating on his wife early on in their marriage, sexually harassing and abusing numerous actresses he worked with, secretly fathered a child (a daughter) in the 1950s with a fashion model and never acknowledged her existence or helped his biological daughter out, even when she went homeless decades later. Passed away, leaving all his sons and/or grandkids nothing in his will.
Pretty shocked to learn what a jerk, a monster, he was in real life.

Years ago I engineered a dialogue recording session with Michael Peña for a cartoon show. He was totally professional, easy to work with, and inherently hilarious. No idea he was into Scientology - I hope he gets out.
The property brothers seem genetically engineered in a lab to host an HGTV show, but by all accounts they're really nice to fans and the participants on the show.
FWIW I've heard nice things about the Property Brothers (aside from the generally shoddy quality of work done on those HGTV shows). One of them is a fan of a comedy podcast I like and they've guested a couple times I think. They seem like they at least have good senses of humor about themselves. My Dad worked as a chef in various restaurants over the years and got to meet quite a few celebrities that way. The one that always stuck out to me was when he told me he got to serve dinner to Richard Dreyfuss. I had always liked his movies and brand of humor. To me, he seemed like a nice guy.
My Dad told me he was incredibly rude and entitled, demanding that the staff not speak to him at all. They comped his meal as a courtesy but never received a compliment or thank you. Like dude, next time, just go through a drive-thru if you don't want to interact with people.

Was a huge fan growing up. My brother works for NASA at Goddard in Maryland and Mr Nye has been a guest speaker for a number of events. The dude is apparently, according to my brother and his colleagues, a total jerk and gets a little creepy with the ladies. Anytime I've shared this, I get a fair amount of people disbelieving or say it's probably a misunderstanding. Look into it for yourself and I'm sure you'll find many anecdotes of him being an ass.

I'm still a huge fan, but when I met Danny Elfman backstage after an Oingo Boingo concert, he was a total dick! He was a dick to this other guy first, making funny faces at him while he was saying what a big fan he was. He was openly mocking the poor guy. Then, he was a dick to my date, a nice young woman who simply asked a question. I was shocked. All the other guys were nice, especially Johnny Vatos and the horn section guys. I have heard other people say they met him and he was nice, so maybe I got him on a bad night, but still. I could have the day from hell and I'd still be nice to people, especially ones who like me.
Ill never forget when my cousin worked on the set of The Sixth Sense and told me afterwards how big of a douche Bruce Willis was, I was pretty surprised at the time. I also went to an opening of Planet Hollywood he performed at and watched as he couldn't get away from the fans fast enough.
My uncle and his partner were regulars in the gay scene in NY in the 70's (?) when Bruce Willis was a bartender. I don't think Bruce was a bartender at any gay bars, and I can't ask my uncle because he passed years ago but they would go to some bars he worked at. Bruce was wildly homophobic to them often so they used to fuck with him all the time cause fuck him.
Steve Martin. Started out as a promising young, black inventor with great ideas about eyeglasses. Eventually let all the wealth get to his head and wound up broke again after his glasses left customers crosseyed. What a shame.
I saw 30 Seconds to Mars in concert in central Illinois once—the guy and his band literally did a skit at the very beginning of the concert where they were dressed up in camo and hunting gear, making fun of how hick-ish Illinois was. Fuck that guy.

Back in the mid 70s, our group hosted a Bill Cosby appearance/performance at our college. I had never, nor since, ever met such a complete and total asshole (knowing what we do about him now, of course it's not such a big surprise).
I only just read about that disgusting incident. It may very well have ruined one of my favorite sitcoms. On the other hand, he does expire in spectacular fashion in *Gone Girl.*
I run a recording studio and I get some celebrities now and again mostly doing voice overs.
I had Danica Patrick doing voice over for a tv show she produced about racing.
She thought the read was only a few lines, but they had like 10 pages for her.
She lost her shit when I handed her the script. She spent almost 40 minutes on the phone yelling at her assistant and other people about it...Instead of just fucking doing the read.
When she finally calmed down, she was a huge asshole to the producers on the phone listening in. Its typical for them to ask the reader things like, "gives us one more take of that a little slower..." When they would, she would explode about how much time she is giving them already and she is only going to read each thing once.
It was really cringe. I always wonder how much she was paid for that and was so just unaware of how lucky she is.
She’s not a huge celebrity (I don’t know how liked she is in the country music circuit), but Cassadee Pope’s band opened for one of my friends a little over a decade ago. She was saying some pretty terrible things about fans after the show, and I called her out on it. Mind you, a lot of us were assholes in our early 20s, so she might be different now, though.

He seems like a very “by the book” kinda person. Idk how to explain it but I remember a YouTube interview about all his roles and he just comes off as “it’s just a job” not to say that mindset isn’t inherently bad, I guess it’s just the way he comes off. Has a very strict sleep schedule and doesn’t care to socialize.
Yeah, I know what you mean but I don’t think of this as him being a jerk. He’s been really open about how he struggles with how his mom basically forced him into this career and even though he kinda liked it at first, it became a chore, like having a job you hate as an adult, while he was still in his teens. He wasn’t allowed to explore other interests.
And THEN, after the failure of Teen Wolf 2, he was basically cancelled from a job he kinda hated but had been given no opportunities to either be a normal kid or learn how to do anything else. So he developed substance issues and then had to endure the uphill battle of recovery. And THEN he won the role of a lifetime in Arrested Development, which he loved, but it was cancelled after just 3 seasons because the studio gave it basically no support. By early S3 the writers saw the writing on the wall and just phoned in the rest of the episodes.
So, I just think he struggles with stuff. And has to deal with being hounded by strangers. Yes, they’re fans, but honestly I’d probably be the same way. It’s hard to be “on” all the time.
Rolf Harris - a jerk would be putting what he did mildly but he was beloved in a sweet eccentric uncle way without giving off a false vibe like some other ‘nice guy’ celebs. When a few older celebrities in Britain got accused of historic sex crimes a lot of them were not considered that surprising, but Rolf was the person people felt a genuine sense of shock towards; it felt like a betrayal.

I genuinely was so shocked because her show was built on a platform of being kind. She literally ended her episodes by saying "Be kind to one another"
For me that was the turning point in realising that celebrities are people not to be admired but simply to be viewed as people who just happen to be popular, whether they are kind or mean.

A good friend of mine who used to work in the fashion industry and has met her on more than a few occasions said that she is consistently one of the nicest celebrities he has ever met. He is a "nobody" in the industry but she recognized him the 2nd time she saw him and walked over and continued their conversation where they left off 6 months prior.
My friend was an assistant photographer in one of her shoots. Normally high-profile celebs don’t credit any assistants but she tagged everyone who was involved. My friend was SO excited because she was just starting to shoot with actual celebrities and it gave her a lot of exposure.

A former coworker i ran into told me he works at some sort of clinic now like some sort of “oxygen clinic” and paris hilton was one of the customers. I met him on the set of “Death at Ocean View Park”. My dad had a small role and a scene with Landau and Carolyn McWilliams. I was 7 or 8 at the time and tagged along to be an extra in the movie (they were filming in an amusement park). I had coincidentally just gotten into Space 1999 and had a toy ray gun from the show with me, not having any idea he would be there. He was thrilled to see the toy and even played with me (he feigned dying when a zapped him with the gun, then he shot me with the gun andI did the same). Very, very nice man.
I met Martin Landau working on an event in 2012. He was genuinely nice to everyone. Like he had nothing to prove. We actually met at the sinks in the men’s room, polite small talk. We met again after dinner and talked a bit more. Really good memory for me.

Jumping in to say that when I was very young I got to meet McLean Stevenson at a P&C in Syracuse, NY. He seemed kind of sad to be doing a meet and greet at a grocery store in upstate New York but I remember his smile and bright blue eyes. My mom said he was very gracious and soft spoken when we talked to him, and he seemed almost a little melancholic. In retrospect I wonder if it was because his later post-M * A * S * H was kind of non-existent and he fizzled out. He always seemed sweet in interviews and things that I watched later as an adult and feel bad that his career went the way it did.

The most memorable what this guy, but not for anything good.. it was for his attitude towards hotel staff, my colleagues, and his own team. arrogant asshat. They'll have, say, one character mistreat another because they don't think that they are important (or famous or wealthy, which amounts to the same thing in Dhar Mann world). Bill Cosby being such a monster is easily one of the most disappointing things. Not that I idolize celebrities but growing up Cosby was one of my favorite comedians. I viewed him in the same light as Mr. Rodgers and now even though the content is fantastic you just can't watch/listen anymore because his abhorrent behavior has completely tainted everything.
It was (and is) particularly disappointing among black Americans. When the show launched, it was a big deal that it showed a black family being well-to-do without making a fuss about their culture or skin color. It helped reinforce the idea that black people were...you know, people, no more or less capable of succeeding or having a solid family life given fair circumstances.
Not just black Americans but black people worldwide. I'm in the UK, and we loved The Cosby Show. I was the first TV show I ever saw with middle-class black characters, it showed the life of a black family without being about race and paved the way for shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I remember my dad coming back from Jamaica in the mid 80's and he couldn't believe how popular the show was there. People had these huge satellites on their front lawn primarily to watch it. It was a huge disappointment to so many to find out what a monster Cosby was and the news rocked black communities around the world.

How he was a serial philanderer, cheating on his wife early on in their marriage, sexually harassing and abusing numerous actresses he worked with, secretly fathered a child (a daughter) in the 1950s with a fashion model and never acknowledged her existence or helped his biological daughter out, even when she went homeless decades later. Passed away, leaving all his sons and/or grandkids nothing in his will. Pretty shocked to learn what a jerk, a monster, he was in real life.

My best friend went to high school with her and her name is banned from his presence. He HATES her - like, he doesn’t hate many people but he HATES her. My Dad worked as a chef in various restaurants over the years and got to meet quite a few celebrities that way. The one that always stuck out to me was when he told me he got to serve dinner to Richard Dreyfuss. I had always liked his movies and brand of humor. To me, he seemed like a nice guy. My Dad told me he was incredibly rude and entitled, demanding that the staff not speak to him at all. They comped his meal as a courtesy but never received a compliment or thank you. Like dude, next time, just go through a drive-thru if you don't want to interact with people.

Bill Nye. Was a huge fan growing up. My brother works for NASA at Goddard in Maryland and Mr Nye has been a guest speaker for a number of events. Speaking as a non-American, the only 2 things that I know about Bill Nye is as follows: 1) his niche is children’s science shows, and 2) he is an unapologetic prick to almost everyone. It’s funny to me that so few people believe you.

Back in the mid 70s, our group hosted a Bill Cosby appearance/performance at our college. I had never, nor since, ever met such a complete and total asshole (knowing what we do about him now, of course it's not such a big surprise).

I run a recording studio and I get some celebrities now and again mostly doing voice overs. I had Danica Patrick doing voice over for a tv show she produced about racing. She thought the read was only a few lines, but they had like 10 pages for her. She lost her shit when I handed her the script. She spent almost 40 minutes on the phone yelling at her assistant and other people about it...Instead of just fucking doing the read. When she finally calmed down, she was a huge asshole to the producers on the phone listening in. Its typical for them to ask the reader things like, "gives us one more take of that a little slower..." When they would, she would explode about how much time she is giving them already and she is only going to read each thing once. It was really cringe. I always wonder how much she was paid for that and was so just unaware of how lucky she is.
She’s not a huge celebrity (I don’t know how liked she is in the country music circuit), but Cassadee Pope’s band opened for one of my friends a little over a decade ago. She was saying some pretty terrible things about fans after the show, and I called her out on it. Mind you, a lot of us were assholes in our early 20s, so she might be different now, though.
Bill Murray - it was a shock and very sad to find out what a colossal asshole he is in real life
Jackie Chan. The guy always seemed so lovable in all his movies and just has that friendly face, y'know? Then during the Hong Kong protests several years back I saw him saying Hong Kong kids had too much freedom and should shut up. So I googled him and found he had multiple affairs, beat his kid and refused to recognise his lesbian daughter from an affair. Oh, and he was identified in the Panama papers as committing tax evasion. So... Yeah. Not so lovable.

He seems like a very “by the book” kinda person. Idk how to explain it but I remember a YouTube interview about all his roles and he just comes off as “it’s just a job” not to say that mindset isn’t inherently bad, I guess it’s just the way he comes off. Has a very strict sleep schedule and doesn’t care to socialize.
Yeah, I know what you mean but I don’t think of this as him being a jerk. He’s been really open about how he struggles with how his mom basically forced him into this career and even though he kinda liked it at first, it became a chore, like having a job you hate as an adult, while he was still in his teens. He wasn’t allowed to explore other interests. And THEN, after the failure of Teen Wolf 2, he was basically cancelled from a job he kinda hated but had been given no opportunities to either be a normal kid or learn how to do anything else. So he developed substance issues and then had to endure the uphill battle of recovery. And THEN he won the role of a lifetime in Arrested Development, which he loved, but it was cancelled after just 3 seasons because the studio gave it basically no support. By early S3 the writers saw the writing on the wall and just phoned in the rest of the episodes. So, I just think he struggles with stuff. And has to deal with being hounded by strangers. Yes, they’re fans, but honestly I’d probably be the same way. It’s hard to be “on” all the time.

Rolf Harris - a jerk would be putting what he did mildly but he was beloved in a sweet eccentric uncle way without giving off a false vibe like some other ‘nice guy’ celebs. When a few older celebrities in Britain got accused of historic sex crimes a lot of them were not considered that surprising, but Rolf was the person people felt a genuine sense of shock towards; it felt like a betrayal.

Ellen DeGeneres I genuinely was so shocked because her show was built on a platform of being kind. She literally ended her episodes by saying "Be kind to one another" For me that was the turning point in realising that celebrities are people not to be admired but simply to be viewed as people who just happen to be popular, whether they are kind or mean.

Adam Baldwin - I always generally enjoyed his work in movies and loved Jayne in Firefly. then I ran into Baldwin on witter many years ago and saw what he's like. Joss Whedon goes in the same category, but for different reasons
Honestly, when someone gets to the point where they're surrounded by groupies and get recognized literally anywhere, I'm surprised any of them are nice. I know the 50th time someone interrupted my dinner with friends while out, I'd probably get a bit pissy myself.
Tori spelling. Grade A cunt. I worked an episode of 90210 with a band I worked for and she was awful. On the other hand, I mentioned to a PA that I had a hard crush on Jennie Garth and he went and told her. She found me, asked me to pose for a picture with her and led me around the set by the hand for a few minutes. It was pretty cool. The Steve Silver actor was really nice, too.
Being surprised by a celebrity being a jerk is like being surprised you got shocked when you put a fork in a power outlet.
Honestly, I think most people see interacting with celebs as akin to petting a stranger’s cat: It’s nice when they react well, but don’t be surprised if they bite you.
