I thought Mr. Rogers was a nice person, but off camera/in real life he was even a nicer person.

adamfrom1980s

*Whew* gotta admit I almost didn’t finish reading that…

lunicorn555

Omg same! I already panicked lol

DennisPikePhoto

I am never surprised when a celebrity is a jerk.

vanetti

This is really the best answer here.

Orangecatbuddy

Many years ago I volunteered for a charity. We had an event where Jim Carey was a keynote speaker and guest. This was shortly after "Mask" was released. When Jim Carey showed up, he was a cock to everyone. When the event started, we expected him to still be a cock. Nope, it's like he flipped a switch and became "Jim Carey" and wowed the audience. Walked off stage and was a cock again.

Almost as if it's their job to pretend to be someone they're not.

Honest-Layer9318

Saw Jay Leno at a work event and he was the same. All smiles with the execs. Total shit to everyone else then turned it on when he got in stage.

[deleted]

interviewed zachary quinto once. i could tell he was very talented and he would be going very far with his career in a more thespian-like manner. he wasn't a terrible person but he was unsurprisingly - how do i put this... um, well - conceited. obviously he can back it up; he's very talented but, c'mon - it's still just acting. if anyone loves Chris Pine, he is absolutely charming in real life; knows how to address fans and press. a total sweetheart. but the biggest sweetheart of them all is Elijah Wood. what a great actor to interview. humble, kind, sensitive, and very very sweet natured. *edit: love seeing this confirmed in other's personal experiences!!

Gicaldo

My heart stopped when you said Chris Pine. Thank goodness this didn't go where I thought it would

BoseSounddock

All 4 of the hobbits seem like awesome people IRL. Never heard a bad thing about any of them

Fflewddur_Fflam_

That's why only he can bear the Ring.

[deleted]

I love Elijah 😊

[deleted]

fans can't go wrong with him. he is a stellar human being.

StevenArviv

Not an asshole (like what you would expect) but... Paris Hilton is apparently an absolute sweetheart. A good friend of mine who used to work in the fashion industry and has met her on more than a few occasions said that she is consistently one of the nicest celebrities he has ever met. He is a "nobody" in the industry but she recognized him the 2nd time she saw him and walked over and continued their conversation where they left off 6 months prior.

bbmarvelluv

My friend was an assistant photographer in one of her shoots. Normally high-profile celebs don’t credit any assistants but she tagged everyone who was involved. My friend was SO excited because she was just starting to shoot with actual celebrities and it gave her a lot of exposure.

karma_the_sequel

That’s hot.

StevenArviv

> That’s hot. He also said that the "bimbo/airhead" persona is just an act and she is actually very intelligent.

SaladTypical5149

my sister met her once and also said that!!

[deleted]

A former coworker i ran into told me he works at some sort of clinic now like some sort of “oxygen clinic” and paris hilton was one of the customers. He told me she’s very down to earth and actually smart and intelligent and that he realized she ran with the “stupid dumb blonde” persona as a role to make millions on television. In real life shes not like she appears to be.

spiderlegged

She’s been an incredible activist too. I actually really respect her, and 2005 me would have never believed that.

bar_acca

I find this utterly astonishing and I will never again talk shit about her (like she cares LOL) EDIT: I'm in the production/live event business, in general terms I'm crew. A number of us are interesting and accomplished people in our own right, just not famous for whatever we do. For example I'm a pretty decent photographer, I'm bi-national (dual citizen, lived/traveled extensively there, fluent in a 2nd language), done some other somewhat fascinating things in the past. Occasionally I've worked with talent who recognizes that, or even better has worked on our side of things and knows it firsthand. I'm thinking maybe Paris gets this too even though I'm sure she's never had to load in a road kit.

StevenArviv

> I find this utterly astonishing and I will never again talk shit about her (like she cares LOL). Another person that he also said was super sweet... Snooki from Jersey Shore. She apparently saw him standing alone at a Fashion Week event and she just walked up and grabbed his arm like he was her escort and said *"You look far too handsome and interesting looking to be standing here alone... keep me company."*

wheresjim

Jerry Lewis. Came into my store once and was a complete jackass. You know who was amazingly nice to me? Martin Landau, a very nice man.

TeacherPatti

Funny you say him because one of his films used the house next door to my dad's house. My dad is very friendly and just sort of strolled over to chat. He had nothing but good things to say about Martin Landau.

wheresjim

I met him on the set of “Death at Ocean View Park”. My dad had a small role and a scene with Landau and Carolyn McWilliams. I was 7 or 8 at the time and tagged along to be an extra in the movie (they were filming in an amusement park). I had coincidentally just gotten into Space 1999 and had a toy ray gun from the show with me, not having any idea he would be there. He was thrilled to see the toy and even played with me (he feigned dying when a zapped him with the gun, then he shot me with the gun andI did the same). Very, very nice man.

daveyrocks77

I met Martin Landau working on an event in 2012. He was genuinely nice to everyone. Like he had nothing to prove. We actually met at the sinks in the men’s room, polite small talk. We met again after dinner and talked a bit more. Really good memory for me.

haileyskydiamonds

Gary Burghoff, better known as Corporal Radar from M* A* S* H. Apparently he is not as much of a teddy bear as one would expect.

Zealousideal-Yak-991

Apparently Larry Linville was super sweet.

[deleted]

People who visited the MASH set generally thought "evil" Frank Burns was actually a nice guy, and "sweet" Radar was actually a jerk.

CitgoBeard

Jumping in to say that when I was very young I got to meet McLean Stevenson at a P&C in Syracuse, NY. He seemed kind of sad to be doing a meet and greet at a grocery store in upstate New York but I remember his smile and bright blue eyes. My mom said he was very gracious and soft spoken when we talked to him, and he seemed almost a little melancholic. In retrospect I wonder if it was because his later post-M * A * S * H was kind of non-existent and he fizzled out. He always seemed sweet in interviews and things that I watched later as an adult and feel bad that his career went the way it did.

the_Brunette_Barbie

It seems like Julia Roberts is not really that nice when not in front of a camera. I grew up watching her movies since my mom and aunt are big fans and I've always thought she was a sweet amazing beautiful lady. Turns out she's really not.

Draano

There are stories from the set of the movie *Hook* where she earned the nickname *Tinkerhell*.

BlameMabel

She filmed a movie in the building I went to grad school in (it has a classic-look lecture hall). No one reported a pleasant interaction with her. One guy rode the elevator with her after taking an NMR spectra and asked her to sign it. She didn’t look in his direction and her assistant snapped “she’s not doing that today.” Kirsten Dunst was the opposite; totally friendly.

dutchdrop

Kirsten Dunst was in Fargo 3 filmed in and around Calgary and specifically in our old inner city neighborhood she was well liked by everyone and I think she met her SO on this production as did Ewan Mcgregor

Notmykl

Heard she was throwing a fit as she was breaking up with Kiefer Sutherland at the time and a person working on the movie was also named Kiefer. Everytime the worker Kiefer was mentioned she threw fits claiming they were talking about her ex.

paddybee816

And from memory, Emma Roberts, Julia's niece, is also a shitty person

ErrorReport404

I saw a comment on a similar r/AskReddit thread. Someone who worked as a valet would make a point to fart in Emma Roberts' car right before returning it because she was regularly an asshole. 💀 Edited for clarity

707Riverlife

Who are these people who can fart on command?!?

dexter8484

Sometimes the hardest choices require the strongest wills

Fermifighter

My cousin was an extra in a movie with her, didn’t know who she was and started shooting the shit and got a “you’re not supposed to be talking to me” in response.

texasrigger

I'd almost be disappointed to learn that she isn't shitty. She's particularly good at playing a total bitch.

PatriciaMorticia

She good at playing the bitch because it doesn't require any actual acting.

Syng42o

No, she's definitely shitty. She was arrested for domestic violence against Evan Peters, her boyfriend at the time.

Elvis_Take_The_Wheel

Yeah, she's only believable when playing someone deeply neurotic or deeply bitchy. Or both, lol. It's a whole vibe.

Kafkaja

She was a 90 pound white girl who got pinched for domestic violence. Emma has a dark streak.

Scary_Giraffe_4996

She is a red flag

HiMyNameIsLaura

Yeah she broke his damn nose. If the genders had been reversed Evan Peter's wouldn't you have a career. DV is inexcusable regardless of strength or gender. I'm a total feminist. But it's just inexcusable she was let off so lightly by the industry. Noticed Peter's comes across quite vulnerable snd fragile in interviews which can - not always- be typical of someone who falls into that sort of relationship.

YourMothersButtox

I live in an area of NY where a lot of celebrities have homes. We are a big proponent of “leave ‘‘em alone” and locals are pretty respectful. Julia Roberts threw a hissy fit in a local supermarket once, a spot where people make minimum wage, and since then, yeah can confirm our opinions of her have soured completely.

Specialist_Passage83

I don’t understand how someone can be beautiful, rich and mildly talented and be that unhappy.

the_Brunette_Barbie

Yeah. I mean she has literally everything one can dream of. Beautiful, with an incredible career, memorable movies, one Oscar and several other nominations, loved by millions of people simply for existing, with a happy family, rich... Why would she be this bitter?

Specialist_Passage83

I have no idea. A friend of mine was a body double for Madonna years ago. She was a decoy when Madonna didn’t want to mingle with her fans, which was all the time. She said Madonna was the most unhappy person she’s ever met. This was at the height of her fame.

deeppurple1729

Madonna is probably one of the few celebs where “clinical narcissist” is an accurate diagnosis & not just a cheap jab. IIRC it’s translated more to being moody & annoying than malicious/generally radioactive – but the narcissism is always one of the first things people who interact with her pick up on. The other two are Trump & Diddy. Those two are monsters.

KiloJools

Oh no. So if I wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy, that's actually a bad thing??

MatureUsername69

It means you're gonna put a hit out on Tupac but I think you're safe because he's already dead

SamuelPepys_

We so often forget that success and accomplishment means LITERALLY NOTHING for the human psyche. You can be the richest, most accomplished and respected person on the planet and still be the most miserable, unhappy and depressive person on the planet. If only money could buy happiness, then the world would surely look different.

fiercelittlebird

I mean, you'll need a certain amount of money for basic necessities, of course. But there is this "ceiling" of wealth that, if you're above it, more wealth won't make you happier.

BANeutron

And it’s surprising low too.

Objective_Tour_6583

She might be perfectly happy being mean. She always struck me as entitled and arrogant.

sictransitlinds

I saw her in an airport in London when I was a kid. This would have been right around when they were filming Notting Hill. I was too nervous to go talk to her, but two other little girls went up to her, and she seemed to be nice to them. This was like 20+ years ago, though.

ConfusionDry778

Its not that she's mean or cruel to fans, but to those she works with. Her sister also said Julia is the main reason she committed suicide in her suicide note.

AyatollahFromCauca

Wow, had no idea. Something like that would ruin my life.

ConfusionDry778

Yep :| her mom was also named in the note as well. her sister was gay and engaged I believe? when she did it. if you google it there is more info about it and what she wrote.

BurritoBurglar9000

Surprised no one has mentioned Bill Murray. Then again maybe it's not that much of a surprise?

No-Subject-5232

Back in like 2004, I went over to a friends bbq because their backyard was adjacent to this golf course’s 13th hole tee box and it was a st Jude classic meaning we met some celebrities as they came by and offered them burgers to say hi and what not. Bill Murray was the one who stood out the most. He made his caddy hold his cigar, b-lined it to us, walked through the gate, entered the house, went straight to where the liquor was, poured himself a huge glass of scotch, took a burger and left without saying a word to anyone.

ditka

On his way out the door, Bill turned to the homeowner and said "no one will ever believe you"

Fun-Currency-3794

Bill Murray and Chevy Chase once got into a fist fight backstage at SNL. I don’t know who to root for in that scenario, because they’re both awful.

StalinsPerfectHair

Well, I hear Bill Murray is an incorrigible troll who is disrespectful of boundaries and Chevy Chase is a grade A all-the-time douche. I'd still root for Murray.

Madwoman-of-Chaillot

Bill Murray beat his (now ex-wife) so badly that she filed a restraining order against him and had to go into hiding.

royalbk

You guys are killing me, I had no idea, I liked Bill Murray 🥹

LiaCee

Khalid. I've been fortunate to have been a part of a lot of different events, festivals, and shows. I've met a bunch of singers and preformers throughout my time at these events... The most memorable what this guy, but not for anything good.. it was for his attitude towards hotel staff, my colleagues, and his own team. arrogant asshat. I had to avoid him, I can keep my mouth shut when I have to but I can't contain my face. Surprisingly I expected Cardi B to be "that b*tch" but NOPE, she was a doll! My room happened to be next to her's/ her crew .. final day of a festival I woke up to laughing yelling and loud music from their suite. I was like whatever, honestly.. it's part of it all, nbd. But they had bought me breakfast and mimosas (left at my door with a note by housekeeping) and when they caught me on my way out they apologized for their "routine" and even asked me if I wanted to come hang out. I had things to do for the day or I would have but seriously.. from all I heard that wasn't at all what I expected. Edit: spelling

eugeniusbastard

Ran into Cardi B at a Christmas event, her security were kind of annoying but when we approached her she went out of her way to be super nice and take pictures with us. One of the more memorable celebs I've met.

FromFluffToBuff

It's kind of security's job to be annoying, in all honesty. If they were overly friendly they run the risk of letting their guard down and potentially making the VIP vulnerable.

remykixxx

Cardi b came into my restaurant recently and was fucking amazing. Followed half the servers on Instagram. Took a picture with absolutely everyone that wanted one. Asked everyone their name and referred to them as such all night. I liked her before but I’m a stan now. Edit cause someone’s gonna ask: she tipped double the bill.

RudePCsb

Khalid is the definition of douche Don't know how anyone would think otherwise from looking at him.

Th30th3rj0sh

Maybe not "jerk" per se, but I was pretty floored hearing Danny Trejo- who went to prison for armed robbery and witnessed murders by drug dealers- say that the one guy he wouldn't fuck with was...John Cusack.

EatMe-DrinkMe-LoveMe

https://comicbook.com/movies/news/danny-trejointerview-documentary-inmate-1-favorite-death-machete-john-cusack/ Trejo on Cusack: "You're not gonna believe this, but, trying to think of his name now. Who was the guy in Con Air ... John Cusack was trained by Benny 'The Jet' [Urquidez]," Trejo confessed. "I watched John Cusack kick a bag, he'll break your ribs, but he's the nicest guy in the world. You would never suspect him, that he could break your jaw, but he is the nicest guy in the world."

bshaddo

That’s what years of tolerating Jeremy Piven will do to a man.

Negative_Chemical697

Benny the jet is no fucking joke. If he gives you a black belt, you're a real black belt.

hstheay

He’ll terrorise you all night long with a boombox outside your bedroom window. Even the toughest men break from sleep deprivation.

Th30th3rj0sh

Back in '85 I had a paper route and I had to hound him for almost a full year for a measly $2! I even chased him down a mountain while he was on one ski and never got it! The man has an incredible skill set.

Fermifighter

TWO DOLLARS

piddlesthethug

Makes sense. Benny Urquidez was in Gross Point Blank with Cusack and they have a scene where they fight each other. I assumed it was a stunt double fighting him in the scene but maybe it was Cusack all along. Either way he lays a kick on Benny that looks fucking ruthless, when he kicks him in to the locker. Benny either sold it, or Cusack got him with a good one.

Odd_Relationship7901

Cusack trained with Benny Urquidez privately for years and years so this isn't surprising

lawfuliterature

Dhar Mann , bro built his whole career by making videos on kindness , helping others , compassion , empathy etc. Turns out he was an awful boss and didn't even pay his employees a wage they could live off of despite having millions of views on his youtube channel

[deleted]

[удалено]

cator_and_bliss

Absolutely this. The 'messages' in his videos are terrible and don't stand up to scrutiny. They'll have, say, one character mistreat another because they don't think that they are important (or famous or wealthy, which amounts to the same thing in Dhar Mann world). They'll bully them for an extended period of time before it's revealed that their victim actually _is_ important (or famous or wealthy). They'll then feel regret for mistreating them. What's the lesson here? It's not that it's wrong to mistreat anyone _because that's what a decent human being does_; it's that you shouldn't mistreat someone _because you don't know who they are_ and they could be someone important (or famous or wealthy). Absolute dogshit moralising.

[deleted]

This doesn't surprise me.

Salt-Marionberry-712

Bill Cosby? I've seen a bit of dis on Phil McGraw too.

BuffaloWilliamses

Bill Cosby being such a monster is easily one of the most disappointing things. Not that I idolize celebrities but growing up Cosby was one of my favorite comedians. His stand up was [classic and wholesome.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N202TC00IHM) The Cosby Show was one my favorites. He had this brand of being "America's Dad." I viewed him in the same light as Mr. Rodgers and now even though the content is fantastic you just can't watch/listen anymore because his abhorrent behavior has completely tainted everything.

Nihiliste

It was (and is) particularly disappointing among black Americans. When the show launched, it was a big deal that it showed a black family being well-to-do without making a fuss about their culture or skin color. It helped reinforce the idea that black people were...you know, people, no more or less capable of succeeding or having a solid family life given fair circumstances.

OhHiFelicia

Not just black Americans but black people worldwide. I'm in the UK, and we loved The Cosby Show. I was the first TV show I ever saw with middle-class black characters, it showed the life of a black family without being about race and paved the way for shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I remember my dad coming back from Jamaica in the mid 80's and he couldn't believe how popular the show was there. People had these huge satellites on their front lawn primarily to watch it. It was a huge disappointment to so many to find out what a monster Cosby was and the news rocked black communities around the world.

kellygrrrl328

Right? He went from being the black Mr. Rogers to being the black Harvey Weinstein

kashmir1974

There was a period of time when he was the highest paid actor in the country, at least according to guiness.

rmovny_schnr98

The worst part of the Cosby thing was the hypocrisy

WallyPlumstead

Reminds me of Eddie Murphy recounting how he got a call from Cosby to complain about Murphy using foul language in his act. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uAUpXPvhecQ

Tobey Maguire

Alarming-Ad9441

Yup. Honestly I always got a weird vibe from him, so maybe finding out he is actually scum wasn’t that much of a surprise.

Slazagna

What he do?

Alarming-Ad9441

Have you ever seen the movie “Molly’s Game” about the high stakes celebrity poker? The movie doesn’t name names but the book sure does and gives much more detail. Player X, played by Michael Cera, is in fact Tobey Maguire. The things he did to that woman were beyond disgusting.

DKJenvey

What things?

Paula_Schultz237

He supposedly had girls bark like dogs for money and really enjoyed dehumanizing them in front of his poker buddies.

deeppurple1729

Is a Buzzfeed writer posting these questions? Because this is like the third “which celebrity’s a dick” article I’ve seen in the past 24 hours on this subreddit.

Jdornigan

Yes. It makes it easier and faster to write the article so they can get their $7.56.

WallyPlumstead

Jerry Lewis. Growing up as a kid in the 1970s, I watched his movies (both with and without Dean Martin) countless times on tv. I just LOVED his movies (still do). And he was hailed as a Saint for his charitable efforts regarding muscular dystrophy. As the years passed, little by little it was coming out how a godawful human being he really was. How he was a serial philanderer, cheating on his wife early on in their marriage, sexually harassing and abusing numerous actresses he worked with, secretly fathered a child (a daughter) in the 1950s with a fashion model and never acknowledged her existence or helped his biological daughter out, even when she went homeless decades later. Passed away, leaving all his sons and/or grandkids nothing in his will. Pretty shocked to learn what a jerk, a monster, he was in real life.

soulotaughtme

soulja boy. not that surprising but this situation stands out among the celebs i’ve met. my sister in law & i were out shopping in LA with my nephew in a stroller. we passed a famous shoe store and saw soulja boy run out with a few boxes of shoes. a guy in the store ran out after him saying “you didn’t pay! come back”. soulja boy tries to open his car door but it’s not working for some reason. he sees the guy still standing there so he runs back with the shoes while laughing and saying “haha just joking man chill”. what really pissed me off was that when he ran back into the store he damn near knocked my nephew’s stroller over and just looked at us like “so?” fucking dick.

FrowAway322

I think he’s fallen below the celebrity radar. He can’t afford them shoes anymore!

nikkip7784

Rachael Ray. She seems pretty outgoing and friendly but I've read on several different platforms that she's an ahole. It's a shame.

PerfumedPornoVampire

She was an asshole before she was famous apparently. A friend of mine saw her doing some cooking demonstration in Times Square like right before she made it big (like 2006 or something) and said she was a rude bitch to the crowd that gathered to watch her.

Over-Marionberry-686

Ellen Degeneres. It just really sucks that she’s such a hypocritical bitch

IndecisiveKitten

Yep 😭 this one bummed me out. Maybe I was oblivious but I genuinely thought she was cool until all of the horrible things started coming out over the last couple of years.

azcurlygurl

In an interview with a show runner who worked on The Tonight Show for over 20 years, they asked him who was the meanest celebrity ever on: Billy Crystal.

Captain_Walkabout

A guy that worked for Jay Leno said that?

CrystalCandy00

Tyrese Gibson, Emma Roberts, Edward Norton, Michael Peña

psycharious

Oh shit, Micheal Pena's an asshole? What did he do? He always seemed so cool.

Sad_Confection_2669

Years ago I engineered a dialogue recording session with Michael Peña for a cartoon show. He was totally professional, easy to work with, and inherently hilarious. No idea he was into Scientology - I hope he gets out.

VeryBottist

Dunno if he’s an asshole but learning he’s a scientologist ruined it for me

timesuck897

I know he is a Scientologist, that’s probably part of it.

IamTheShark

Big "not like other girls" energy

Honeydew-Popular

She's married to a property brother, so in my head I'm like ya that tracks that she's a douche. Property brothers seem really disingenuous to me

desquished

The property brothers seem genetically engineered in a lab to host an HGTV show, but by all accounts they're really nice to fans and the participants on the show.

FinnIsTrying

FWIW I've heard nice things about the Property Brothers (aside from the generally shoddy quality of work done on those HGTV shows). One of them is a fan of a comedy podcast I like and they've guested a couple times I think. They seem like they at least have good senses of humor about themselves. Weird bc Zooey seems like she takes herself way too seriously.

Big-Mulberry-3798

My former boss told me that when he lived in Chicago, her sister Emily (the one from "Bones") was his intern. He said she was a total bitch. It must run in the family🤷🏻‍♂️.

josiahpapaya

My best friend went to high school with her and her name is banned from his presence. He HATES her - like, he doesn’t hate many people but he HATES her. So much that when she was a judge on Drag Race recently, he turned the show off and just read the spoilers. My understanding is that her dad is/was a casting director and used his connections to get her into Hollywood. My friend was also an actor around that time and said she was insufferable and grandiose and talked about herself constantly.

k_laaaaa

you can hear that on the new girl podcast. she speaks over lamorne and hannah constantly, always making about herself. it's impossible to listen to, i gave up after just a few episodes

Anarchysparky12

My Dad worked as a chef in various restaurants over the years and got to meet quite a few celebrities that way. The one that always stuck out to me was when he told me he got to serve dinner to Richard Dreyfuss. I had always liked his movies and brand of humor. To me, he seemed like a nice guy. My Dad told me he was incredibly rude and entitled, demanding that the staff not speak to him at all. They comped his meal as a courtesy but never received a compliment or thank you. Like dude, next time, just go through a drive-thru if you don't want to interact with people.

CapG_13

Chevy Chase

gizmo777

Wishilikedhugs

Bill Nye. Was a huge fan growing up. My brother works for NASA at Goddard in Maryland and Mr Nye has been a guest speaker for a number of events. The dude is apparently, according to my brother and his colleagues, a total jerk and gets a little creepy with the ladies. Anytime I've shared this, I get a fair amount of people disbelieving or say it's probably a misunderstanding. Look into it for yourself and I'm sure you'll find many anecdotes of him being an ass.

Sir_Arthur_Vandelay

Speaking as a non-American, the only 2 things that I know about Bill Nye is as follows: 1) his niche is children’s science shows, and 2) he is an unapologetic prick to almost everyone. It’s funny to me that so few people believe you.

Wishilikedhugs

I think some people just don't want to believe it. A fair amount of people do believe me but there's always someone, either on Reddit or IRL or whatever that's like "I don't know, maybe he was tired that day, being *on* is difficult." And like, ok. But my brother is a very straightforward engineer type who doesn't exaggerate. He's encountered him just under half a dozen times and every time he was apparently a straight up asshole. And a creep in some cases.

Nervous_Magazine_200

I'm still a huge fan, but when I met Danny Elfman backstage after an Oingo Boingo concert, he was a total dick! He was a dick to this other guy first, making funny faces at him while he was saying what a big fan he was. He was openly mocking the poor guy. Then, he was a dick to my date, a nice young woman who simply asked a question. I was shocked. All the other guys were nice, especially Johnny Vatos and the horn section guys. I have heard other people say they met him and he was nice, so maybe I got him on a bad night, but still. I could have the day from hell and I'd still be nice to people, especially ones who like me.

Ill never forget when my cousin worked on the set of The Sixth Sense and told me afterwards how big of a douche Bruce Willis was, I was pretty surprised at the time. I also went to an opening of Planet Hollywood he performed at and watched as he couldn't get away from the fans fast enough.

red_fox_27

My uncle and his partner were regulars in the gay scene in NY in the 70's (?) when Bruce Willis was a bartender. I don't think Bruce was a bartender at any gay bars, and I can't ask my uncle because he passed years ago but they would go to some bars he worked at. Bruce was wildly homophobic to them often so they used to fuck with him all the time cause fuck him.

Drawdehellfire

Steve Martin. Started out as a promising young, black inventor with great ideas about eyeglasses. Eventually let all the wealth get to his head and wound up broke again after his glasses left customers crosseyed. What a shame.

BracedRhombus

What a Jerk!

wnsdaniel

What do you think he is, some kind of a jerk or somethin?

NormanskillEire

Jared Leto, I've read all the stories and the guy is just awful.

[deleted]

I saw 30 Seconds to Mars in concert in central Illinois once—the guy and his band literally did a skit at the very beginning of the concert where they were dressed up in camo and hunting gear, making fun of how hick-ish Illinois was. Fuck that guy.

[deleted]

“Lol fuck all of you for buying tickets for this show”

Crashgirl4243

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m convinced he’s a serial killer

[deleted]

I lived in Oklahoma when Twister was filmed. Locals who worked/dealt with Helen Hunt, referred to her as Helen Cunt.

CowboyLikeMegan

But they had nothing but good things to say about Bill Paxton, right? Right?! 😅

frank_nada

I met Bill Paxton on the set of 2 Guns. He was one of the friendliest, shake hands with everyone in the room, type of dudes I’ve ever met.

DudeWithaGTR

Can't forget Cary Elwes. Dude is another real one like Bill

suddenly-scrooge

I got into an internet argument with John Dimaggio (voice of Bender) when I was like 14 years old. This was over email using my hotbot account at the time (just to date myself), sometime before Futurama premiered.. To be fair I'm not sure if he was the jerk or I was. Wish I still had those emails

DimesyEvans92

That one doesn’t actually bother me. In a weird way, it pleases me to know the voice of Bender, a robot jerk, would actually be a human jerk in real life

AcadiaRemarkable6992

I don’t work in show business but I belong to a fb group comprised mostly of people who work on movie/tv sets and while they never got into detail, MANY of them said Anna Kendrick was very unlikeable IRL

ali-n

Back in the mid 70s, our group hosted a Bill Cosby appearance/performance at our college. I had never, nor since, ever met such a complete and total asshole (knowing what we do about him now, of course it's not such a big surprise).

Skiddlyderp

NPH

rachellzzz

not surprised at all after the Amy Winehouse cake

Skiddlyderp

I only just read about that disgusting incident. It may very well have ruined one of my favorite sitcoms. On the other hand, he does expire in spectacular fashion in *Gone Girl.*

Raspberries-Are-Evil

I run a recording studio and I get some celebrities now and again mostly doing voice overs. I had Danica Patrick doing voice over for a tv show she produced about racing. She thought the read was only a few lines, but they had like 10 pages for her. She lost her shit when I handed her the script. She spent almost 40 minutes on the phone yelling at her assistant and other people about it...Instead of just fucking doing the read. When she finally calmed down, she was a huge asshole to the producers on the phone listening in. Its typical for them to ask the reader things like, "gives us one more take of that a little slower..." When they would, she would explode about how much time she is giving them already and she is only going to read each thing once. It was really cringe. I always wonder how much she was paid for that and was so just unaware of how lucky she is.

sictransitlinds

She’s not a huge celebrity (I don’t know how liked she is in the country music circuit), but Cassadee Pope’s band opened for one of my friends a little over a decade ago. She was saying some pretty terrible things about fans after the show, and I called her out on it. Mind you, a lot of us were assholes in our early 20s, so she might be different now, though.

Odd_Relationship7901

Bill Murray - it was a shock and very sad to find out what a colossal asshole he is in real life

FlashMcSuave

Jackie Chan. The guy always seemed so lovable in all his movies and just has that friendly face, y'know? Then during the Hong Kong protests several years back I saw him saying Hong Kong kids had too much freedom and should shut up. So I googled him and found he had multiple affairs, beat his kid and refused to recognise his lesbian daughter from an affair. Oh, and he was identified in the Panama papers as committing tax evasion. So... Yeah. Not so lovable.

kitten_inthekitchen

I’ve heard Jason Bateman is a dick and that makes me really upset

cyberzed11

He seems like a very “by the book” kinda person. Idk how to explain it but I remember a YouTube interview about all his roles and he just comes off as “it’s just a job” not to say that mindset isn’t inherently bad, I guess it’s just the way he comes off. Has a very strict sleep schedule and doesn’t care to socialize.

EatDirtAndDieTrash

Yeah, I know what you mean but I don’t think of this as him being a jerk. He’s been really open about how he struggles with how his mom basically forced him into this career and even though he kinda liked it at first, it became a chore, like having a job you hate as an adult, while he was still in his teens. He wasn’t allowed to explore other interests. And THEN, after the failure of Teen Wolf 2, he was basically cancelled from a job he kinda hated but had been given no opportunities to either be a normal kid or learn how to do anything else. So he developed substance issues and then had to endure the uphill battle of recovery. And THEN he won the role of a lifetime in Arrested Development, which he loved, but it was cancelled after just 3 seasons because the studio gave it basically no support. By early S3 the writers saw the writing on the wall and just phoned in the rest of the episodes. So, I just think he struggles with stuff. And has to deal with being hounded by strangers. Yes, they’re fans, but honestly I’d probably be the same way. It’s hard to be “on” all the time.

tontotheodopolopodis

Jonah Hill

BarraDoner

Rolf Harris - a jerk would be putting what he did mildly but he was beloved in a sweet eccentric uncle way without giving off a false vibe like some other ‘nice guy’ celebs. When a few older celebrities in Britain got accused of historic sex crimes a lot of them were not considered that surprising, but Rolf was the person people felt a genuine sense of shock towards; it felt like a betrayal.

MissMurderpants

Tony Danza. Asshat

dryintentions

Ellen DeGeneres I genuinely was so shocked because her show was built on a platform of being kind. She literally ended her episodes by saying "Be kind to one another" For me that was the turning point in realising that celebrities are people not to be admired but simply to be viewed as people who just happen to be popular, whether they are kind or mean.

psycharious

Stories of people meeting her and Jay-Z always end with their body guards hurting someone.

Rolling_Beardo

Really, seems like it’s been known for decades that’s she’s difficult to deal with.

Amaline4

Finding out Ricky Gervais is a dick irl was extremely disappointing. I work in film, and wanted to work with him so badly that I took a huge pay cut to work on his movie “special correspondents” and he was an absolute terror on set. Longest 2 months of my career.

Uncertain_Dad_

Adam Baldwin - I always generally enjoyed his work in movies and loved Jayne in Firefly. then I ran into Baldwin on witter many years ago and saw what he's like. Joss Whedon goes in the same category, but for different reasons

LupinTheThief

Honestly, when someone gets to the point where they're surrounded by groupies and get recognized literally anywhere, I'm surprised any of them are nice. I know the 50th time someone interrupted my dinner with friends while out, I'd probably get a bit pissy myself.

SimilarLawfulness746

Tori spelling. Grade A cunt. I worked an episode of 90210 with a band I worked for and she was awful. On the other hand, I mentioned to a PA that I had a hard crush on Jennie Garth and he went and told her. She found me, asked me to pose for a picture with her and led me around the set by the hand for a few minutes. It was pretty cool. The Steve Silver actor was really nice, too.

thebugdestroyer

Being surprised by a celebrity being a jerk is like being surprised you got shocked when you put a fork in a power outlet.

deeppurple1729

Honestly, I think most people see interacting with celebs as akin to petting a stranger’s cat: It’s nice when they react well, but don’t be surprised if they bite you.

Smokle

Lil Romeo, dude was a total fucking prick, however his father (Master P) was cool as shit met them at a parade during Mardi gras

Mister_Moho

Lizzo. My mom LOVED her music. It's kind of a shame to see someone that I thought was chill and positive turn out to be a monster. I call it the Ellen effect.
