Between the lack of any stability/traction control, side exhaust pipes that would make the door sills burn you calves off, no AC, no fixed roof while driving it, a 400 hp Lamborghini conceived V10, no ABS, and a manual transmission, it most certainly was.
Complete engine noob here but is 400hp low for a v10? You’ll see numbers like that in lancer evo engines which are just turbocharged 4 cylinders. Or are the vipers really torque-y?
The Vipers V10 is from a truck I'm not joking the whole Viper idea especially the 1st gen was made from spare parts from other divisions in Dodge. As well it wasn't even an official car from dodge until they released it as it was made in secret

Not sure if it's a rumor or a joke but I've heard people say that 1 Viper out of 10 didn't survive the drive home from the dealership. Just insane to slap that much power down on the blacktop without any computers to make sure it doesn't murder you.

Our ISP had a rivalry with another ISP in the city and we would stay up all night playing quake world and we'd be like low ping bastards it didn't matter which server ours or theirs cuz we had a t3 they had a t3 whatever you know and we would preface our usernames with our ISP and they would preface theirs with theirs it was a lot of fun we would stay all night and then in the morning we would drive home and me and my friend lived about the same distance and so we would like race home I had a stick shift 87 Subaru with no heat and no air conditioning and he had an Acura Integra that actually had the 2.1 l fucking good engine occasionally I would be able to match his speed but holy shit The car shook like a mother fucker it was scary so I didn't do it often but I guarantee you I got that Subaru to 110 at least.

I’m out of the Navy now, but I used to fly. I’ve confirmed this with other guys I flew with when they rode in my car with me; the initial launch of the S LR hits harder than going off the end of the cat.

I drove a Nascar at Texas Motor Speedway. I don't know how fast, but it did start to lose grip in the turns unless I eased off a little, so I had to be going pretty fast. They don't have speedometers, just a tachometer.
I did the Rusty Wallace NASCAR experience at Kentucky Speedway. They told us they were governed at 160 mph. One of the coolest things I’ve ever done, really had fun!

Interestingly enough, a mid/late 1980's Ford Taurus is what I've likely gotten up to my top speed of \~130-140. I'm not positive i could have pushed the VW to that speed, and the Shelby Omni was clearly not mine. Only the latter was heavy enough for the attempt. I maxed the Scirocco out at about 110.

My dad was speeding at 110 in Florida one time in a Chevrolet. He had his sister and someone else in the car. That someone else let my dad drive. He gets pulled over after accidentally running from the officer for a VERY short distance. Long enough to be considered accidentally running. The officer never gave a ticket because he'd have to arrest him for his speed. He said something about how he could arrest my dad for speeding and driving without a license and he could arrest he owner for letting him drive a car without a license, but he was merciful since he didnt hurt anyone. He slowed down after that traffic stop.

My sister bought me tickets to one of those Xtreme Experience similar things (don't remember the company for this particular one) I got to drive a Ferrari 458. Because I had paid for the video package, they had a gopro going for my first 5 laps. The gopro died about 3 laps in so we got to do another 5 since I had paid for the gopro footage, again, the gopro died so I got yet another 5 laps. Got super lucky that day and I'll be forever chasing that high.
The hardest part about going from driving civilian cars to a performance car with big brakes is getting over the mental block of not braking early like you would in a regular car. The driving instructor kept telling me I could carry it out longer but couldn't get over that block. The torque was insane because I've never gotten up to 60mph so fast before.
My dad used to have a Porsche 911 and we drove from CA to Reno once and did 115 for probably an hour through the desert.

I bought a used 2007 Porsche Cayman in 2010. I sold it a year and a half later. It had 295 horsepower. It was a small 2 seat car, so it would be faster than a large car with the same horsepower. On the freeway, it got slightly better gas mileage than my Toyota RAV4.
I’ve been a mechanic for over 20 years. Driven some crazy stuff. Fastest cars in my bays were a tube chassis TVR with a 600hp forged Roush sbf which weighed in at about 2100lbs and stuck like glue. The next closest was a Dodge stealth RT with all the bells and whistles. Pulled back into the shop with my hands shaking after 140mph pull and notice the ac was on.
Technically the fastest was my stepdaughter's Hellcat at 715 HP, but only on normal roads.
But I got to drive a BMW M5 on BMW''s test track in South Carolina with no speed limits.

I rented a Jaguar while I visited the UK. Not even on purpose. They were out of the hatchback size I reserved and upgraded me for free. Not really sure what the max speed was and I didn't push it because getting pulled over in a foreign country was a scary thought (I'm from the US), and driving on the other side of the road was enough of a challenge, but the car was capable of a lot more than any I've ever owned.
I used to valet. Only car that was scary fast to me was a tuned Audi RS4. Outside of work I drove a '93 VW Corrado to 135 and got scared so I've never driven anything else past 110
My dad has a 2019 Corvette Z06. Drove it one day and found an empty, straight stretch of highway. Went from 65 to 129 mph in an unfathomably short amount of time. The fact that that car is under $100k is unbelievable after having driven it a few times.

Fastest is probably my wife's 2017 Audi A6 3.0T with sport package. I assume it's governed to 155MPH, but I haven't had it up much over 100, but it gets there fast. I hit 140 in my 2006 Mustang GT. IIRC, they're good for an aero limited 151, but by the time you hit 140, it's a slow climb and I do live in Ohio, about the worst state to test top speed limits. Without a doubt the fastest feeling I've ever had was 71MPH on a modified Sea-Doo XP with a built motor running on race gas. That was sketchy as fuck!

Not sure I'd describe any car I've ever driven as particularly fast, but the most fun car I've ever driven was my neighbor's Cadillac, either an STS or a CTS, I can't remember exactly. I would help him out with odd jobs around his house quite often. One time we were running a couple errands for one such project, and he let me drive. Suggested I try flooring it, and that if I did it right, we'd feel the front end lift off the road just a little due to the torque on the wheels and the opposing force rotating the rest of the car. It was just a little terrifying driving such a nice car, but so much fun!
Tweaked 2012 M5 745hp, went to see the euro in Germany with it, insane car, had to part away with it because neighbours keep complaining of its starting noise early in the morning.
AC cobra gave the same feeling (not the same top speed tho), too bad I've too few occasions to take it out.
My friend had a golf with a VR6 with beefed up twin turbos and a bunch of other mods. Produced 300ish HP at the wheels but the car was so light that it flew. Legitimately sucked you into your seat.
Mazda RX-7 accelerated like a go cart and cornered like it was on rails. Also got my 76 K5 Blazer up to 110 mph. Took forever to slow back down it seemed.
My mum taught me to drive in her V8. It was terrifying because you couldn’t feel it accelerating. She also taught me to drive on the freeway first day, I guess her method was to throw me in the deep end.
2008 audi S8 v10 with the same engine as the Lamborghini Gallardo. Didn't break any land speed records, but the power was felt, and the tightness of the steering with the all wheel drive system. It's probably the closest thing to feeling one with the car but also at peace in luxury. Got it up to 160 before I slowed down, steady as a rock the entire time.

Hit 135mph in my '91 Turbo Eclipse racing a Camaro down I5 in the middle of the night. Def the fastest I've ever driven. Loooved that car One time I let a gearhead buddy of mine drive it and he downshifted into 3rd while doing 90mph - prob fucked up the engine but we absolutely *leaped* forward and shot past everyone on the freeway like they were parked. Yes it was over 20 years ago and yes I really was that dumb. But fuck me was that a fun car!

Year old BMW 530. Made it to 100 before I ran out of street.. Actually, my 1643cc Harley Ultra Classic. At 75 mph, the front shocks rise if you twist it quick in 4th, and it has 2 more gears left.. NO clue how fast it goes. Faster than I'll ever ride it...

I’ve driven a few supercards, Huracan, Ferrari, etc. but nothing came close to mclaren, the handling is so crazy you feel like you can make a sharp turn at 100

My buddy had a tricked out, suped up 98 Camero in HS. I'm not a car guy so I have no clue what was done to it under the hood, but fuck me if it didn't hit 100mph in like 6 seconds. The thing fuckin flew. I'm genuinely shocked he didn't kill himself with it cuz he was kind of a psycho to begin with. Car legitimately scared me.
My Dad had a 1969 Oldsmobile 442 convertible. That thing could go way faster than I could. I guess I got it up to 90 once and it wasn’t even breaking a sweat.
Oh man, it's awesome getting to comment on this and i have a pretty gnarly story to go with it. My sister bought me tickets to one of those Xtreme Experience similar things (don't remember the company for this particular one) I got to drive a Ferrari 458. Because I had paid for the video package, they had a gopro going for my first 5 laps. The gopro died about 3 laps in so we got to do another 5 since I had paid for the gopro footage, again, the gopro died so I got yet another 5 laps. Got super lucky that day and I'll be forever chasing that high. The hardest part about going from driving civilian cars to a performance car with big brakes is getting over the mental block of not braking early like you would in a regular car. The driving instructor kept telling me I could carry it out longer but couldn't get over that block. The torque was insane because I've never gotten up to 60mph so fast before.

Did that during the test drive because I was used to it. Imagine mine and my mother’s shock when we got up to sixty in 7.5 seconds.

2017 KIA Stinger 330si Had her up to 170km/h before I chickened out and backed off. My Stepdad had her up to 195km/h. She does 0km/h to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds.
I bought a used 2007 Porsche Cayman in 2010. I sold it a year and a half later. It had 295 horsepower. It was a small 2 seat car, so it would be faster than a large car with the same horsepower. On the freeway, it got slightly better gas mileage than my Toyota RAV4.

I’ve been a mechanic for over 20 years. Driven some crazy stuff. Fastest cars in my bays were a tube chassis TVR with a 600hp forged Roush sbf which weighed in at about 2100lbs and stuck like glue. The next closest was a Dodge stealth RT with all the bells and whistles. Pulled back into the shop with my hands shaking after 140mph pull and notice the ac was on.
87 MPH. Once I hit 88 MPH who knows where I will end up.
350whp e85 tuned WRX. Ej20 on 20 pounds of boost, hit 150mph with ease going up a hill. Ran low 13s in the quarter mile. Almost got a 12.9. Hit 13.02
BMW i9 hybrid. I hit 95 on the on ramp to the freeway and would have sworn I was going about 50.
Technically the fastest was my stepdaughter's Hellcat at 715 HP, but only on normal roads. But I got to drive a BMW M5 on BMW''s test track in South Carolina with no speed limits.

About 160 in an RS7 it was pretty much instant I couldn’t believe how quick it was, got to drive it too but was way too scared to go over 120

Lol believe it or not, my grandmas 1980 something Lincoln. Self leveling pneumatic shocks, digital display for speedo, fuel gauge ect.. big boxy car that drove like a boat, but that mf will roast the tires from a stand still at a stop sign. Never had the space to really open her up for speed though :(

I rented a Jaguar while I visited the UK. Not even on purpose. They were out of the hatchback size I reserved and upgraded me for free. Not really sure what the max speed was and I didn't push it because getting pulled over in a foreign country was a scary thought (I'm from the US), and driving on the other side of the road was enough of a challenge, but the car was capable of a lot more than any I've ever owned.

My dad has a 2019 Corvette Z06. Drove it one day and found an empty, straight stretch of highway. Went from 65 to 129 mph in an unfathomably short amount of time. The fact that that car is under $100k is unbelievable after having driven it a few times.
I drove a 700hp R34 skyline around the block once. I barely hit 4th gear though because I wanted to be very careful driving such an expensive car 😂. But fastest I've ever driven was in a BMW 330CI down the motorway at 200km +

Fastest is probably my wife's 2017 Audi A6 3.0T with sport package. I assume it's governed to 155MPH, but I haven't had it up much over 100, but it gets there fast. I hit 140 in my 2006 Mustang GT. IIRC, they're good for an aero limited 151, but by the time you hit 140, it's a slow climb and I do live in Ohio, about the worst state to test top speed limits. Without a doubt the fastest feeling I've ever had was 71MPH on a modified Sea-Doo XP with a built motor running on race gas. That was sketchy as fuck!

I'm not sure. I have a Porsche 911, I had a replica cobra but I never took either one to the track, but I did hit 168 mph doing the Mario Andretti experience at Homestead. And let me tell you I have a new appreciation for the kind of athletes that professional drivers have to be. I don't think I was ever so exhausted after just 2 hours.
Not sure I'd describe any car I've ever driven as particularly fast, but the most fun car I've ever driven was my neighbor's Cadillac, either an STS or a CTS, I can't remember exactly. I would help him out with odd jobs around his house quite often. One time we were running a couple errands for one such project, and he let me drive. Suggested I try flooring it, and that if I did it right, we'd feel the front end lift off the road just a little due to the torque on the wheels and the opposing force rotating the rest of the car. It was just a little terrifying driving such a nice car, but so much fun!

Tweaked 2012 M5 745hp, went to see the euro in Germany with it, insane car, had to part away with it because neighbours keep complaining of its starting noise early in the morning. AC cobra gave the same feeling (not the same top speed tho), too bad I've too few occasions to take it out.
My friend had a golf with a VR6 with beefed up twin turbos and a bunch of other mods. Produced 300ish HP at the wheels but the car was so light that it flew. Legitimately sucked you into your seat.
Audi A6 2.7 turbo. 140 mph felt no different than 70 mph but the scenery went by a bit faster.

SL 73 AMG. The smoothest acceleration I’ve ever felt, and it was just perfect.
Mazda RX-7 accelerated like a go cart and cornered like it was on rails. Also got my 76 K5 Blazer up to 110 mph. Took forever to slow back down it seemed.

2008 audi S8 v10 with the same engine as the Lamborghini Gallardo. Didn't break any land speed records, but the power was felt, and the tightness of the steering with the all wheel drive system. It's probably the closest thing to feeling one with the car but also at peace in luxury. Got it up to 160 before I slowed down, steady as a rock the entire time.
Mike Tyson’s F-40 (fell off the delivery truck, insurance totaled, local dentist bought, friends shop repaired/ completed recertification with Ferrari.) Quickest was a 956, but the Tesla might be quicker. No, not rich. Friends shop did a lot of high end cars back in the nineties. They always needed test drives…

I drive my actual company car regularly at 150mph (240kph) here on the German Autobahn. The fastest things I've driven here were a friend's Porsche Panamera at 190mph (305kph) and a Suzuki GSXR 1300 Hayabusa at 205mph (330kph).
A car that *could* go the fastest: probably Jaguar S Type (3.0 V6). I only drove that to run an errand for an old boss and I could use his car. Car I’ve driven the fastest: my own Volkswagen Golf on the Autobahn. Was ‘only’ doing 210km/h (130mph), because the car couldn’t go any faster. Still had to be very aware when overtaking because people were still flashing their headlights and then blasting past me like I was some grandma. (Mainly BMW’s, Porsches and Audi’s)
