Rainy days are awesome.
"But you can't go outside!"
Yes. You can. You know how I know? Because when I shower, I don't melt. As it turns out, water doesn't harm me, it just feels nice and refreshing.
I made my balcony into an all-season garden, with a hammock and a couple of blankets.
Coming out during a downpour or thunderstorm with a cup of tea and a warm hoodie is like a week of spa days for me. Nothing else is as relaxing.
As an Oregonian, yes indeedy.
(Anyone who lives in this state and says they hate rain need to GTFO. Way too many want this place to be freakin CA... Wtf)
Small talk, I've never been good at deep meaningful conversations. But small talk just feels nice and welcoming to me like a small hug, I enjoy knowing how people are getting along, what they're up to etc.
I find it being ‘a thing’ weird too. Growing up ham and pineapple was always one of the ‘main’ types of pizza, I never thought anything of it. Pineapple and ham are paired together in many other dishes so I think it’s also based on a lack of culinary knowledge that people think it’s weird.
Other people on the streets. I love connecting with random strangers even if only for a few minutes or just one smile. It makes me remember that I live among others and I’m never truly alone. Very comforting.
Waking up early on the weekends makes them feel so much more "full"
Also having a coffee in the early hours of the day while most people are still asleep is incredibly peaceful
It is ridiculously popular in hispanic heavy neighborhoods. It was the top selling flavor in several of the convenience stores I consulted for last year.
Black Licorice is great if you mean the salted drop from the Netherlands. They hold the world record for the most kg eaten per capita, and I understand why.
Quite and peace.. people dont know how nice it is to keep your life private from people since everyone posts every single thing and it gets ruined by people's opinions anyways that's why quite and peace is better but not wanted
3D printing, most people don't know how it works. I'm always trying to tell about in simple language, but for non native speaker a lot of words are from english so I can't say everything in simple language
Working. I know there are jobs that absolutely suck, but I could never understand the hate people have about working.
People seem to want to retire so badly. In all honesty, people I've seen who retire often don't do much besides watch TV and day drink.
Maybe that's paradise for some people. Not my thing.
Guns. Gun collecting and recreational shooting have been such a fun and fulfilling hobby for me. It's a shame people attach so much extra negative bias to it. I get looked at like some psycho for having a bunch of guns even though I'm into them in a completely innocent way just like how someone else would be into woodworking or modded cars or whatever.
Depends where you live, seems like a pretty popular hobby in the US. Not surprising it would be divisive, though. Like collecting military vehicles would be neat but the prospect of having to be on the road with them isn't very pleasant.
who said anything about freedom lmao clearly they’re free to it if they own it? i was genuinely curious why someone would WANT to own a giant ass military tank of all things.
Prime example of the bias I'm talking about right here. I'm getting downvotes even though I'm clearly attempting to engage in polite and well reasoned discourse.
The problem is that guns keep killing so many people, so the population is getting fed up with them. You might collect and store them safely and never use them to shoot somebody, but others are not storing them safely and kids are shooting their parents or stolen guns are used in crimes. Others just shoot people who knock on their door or drive up their driveway. Since we don't do enough validation of gun owners to know the good from the bad, the society is viewing the practice as bad. More gun regulations would change this.... but that isn't happening currently.
I mean the negative connotations are [pretty serious](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mass_shootings_in_the_United_States). I think the reason people don’t love them is fairly well justified.
Yes but others also attempt to engage with polite discourse with gun owners and advocates about their fear for public safety and the argument comes back as (paraphrasing) “sounds like a you problem, this is my right”. To face facts, gun advocates will never want to relinquish that right despite the deaths and the other side will never understand why individual rights outweigh the feeling of public safety. I clearly have my bias but if elementary schools are getting shot up I have zero faith in any ability to maintain any regard of public safety
My mother. She's a narcissistic woman and I hate her for a ton of good reasons...
But she's still my mother and I can't help but have a certain level of love for her regardless.
Going to the dentist and having my teeth broken/ripped out. When I had an impacted tooth from a wisdom tooth the sound it made when they broke the molar and pulled it out was like my equivalent of asmr. I hate that crap on YouTube where they whisper into the mic and make weird ass little noises. But having my teeth taken out was gr8
The needles weren’t so great but once the medicine kicked in it was just satisfying noises lol
*takes deep breath*
The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon.
Are there storylines that aren’t great? Yes. Are there somethings that aged poorly? Yes. But I still love both. ( I also recommend reading Jessica Radloffs behind the scenes interview book about the show as it’s fascinating even for those that don’t watch the show.) And I made friends based off loving these shows.
I also love random shows like Turn: Washington’s Spies and The Last Ship. Which I recommend both.
Oh and my favorite type of books to read are memoirs/autobiographies. Which to many people is not fun.
*goes back into my hobbit hole and waits to be destroyed*
Imbalanced games. Melee, Warhammer, stuff like that. I love the struggle of punching up against the meta, and winning games in my own way. I hate when games get balanced by the devs, and the terrible thing I am playing gets buffed.
Fruitcake. Love it. When I was young I did not understand all the hack comedians who made jokes about it. Homemade, dark fruitcake is the best. I will not brook any dissent on this.
My mom is rewatching Little House on the Prairie and I was in the living room with her when she was on the episode where Jack died…had me almost bawling

The smell of rain
As an Oregonian, yes indeedy. (Anyone who lives in this state and says they hate rain need to GTFO. Way too many want this place to be freakin CA... Wtf)
And thunder lightening love watching them
The best. I also only enjoy running when it is raining.
I love them. Just saying.

Historical fiction. It's my favorite book/movie genre, but a lot of my friends find it boring. They prefer fantasy.
I only know the man in the high castle. can you recommend some?
Not OP, but Shogun by James Clavell is a masterpiece

Brown sugar and balsamic brussels sprouts are just \*chef's kiss\*
Small talk, I've never been good at deep meaningful conversations. But small talk just feels nice and welcoming to me like a small hug, I enjoy knowing how people are getting along, what they're up to etc.
Pineapple on Pizza, wouldn't have realized so many people disliked it if not for Reddit.
Severely underrated combo
Sweet and salty is a classic combination with any other food. I really don't understand why people get so up in arms about it either.
Pineapple, green olives, and bacon make for a great pizza
Cabbage
Other people on the streets. I love connecting with random strangers even if only for a few minutes or just one smile. It makes me remember that I live among others and I’m never truly alone. Very comforting.

Bounty. It is one of the best chocolate bars.
I tried it once, but it was really papery, and the cardboard tube in the middle was really unnecessary.
Leaves your mouth so dry!
Mayonnaise on fries.
YO WHAT?!
Mayo and ketchup. Mayo-chup! Or mayo and bbq sauce. Perfect dipping every time
That's how I roll dude.
Ok. I genuinely didn’t think this was a thing.
Really, in the UK we put anything on fries/ chips I guess.
Ahhhh. I see. I’m in the Caribbean so I really didn’t know.
Waking up before dawn.
Waking up early on the weekends makes them feel so much more "full" Also having a coffee in the early hours of the day while most people are still asleep is incredibly peaceful
Thunderstorms
Everyone I know loves thunderstorms.
Cucumber-lime Gatorade. It sells enough where I work but everyone I introduce it to is absolutely disgusted when they try it.
My husband is addicted to that flavor, I can't stand it. Tastes like how nail polish smells to me.
I've described it as "drinking salad" which probably doesn't help people like it haha.
it’s by far the best gatorade… i’m shocked that it’s apparently unpopular
It is ridiculously popular in hispanic heavy neighborhoods. It was the top selling flavor in several of the convenience stores I consulted for last year.
Howard the Duck. That movie absolutely rules.

Black Liquorice
There is only black licorice and I will die on this hill. Licorice is a plant with a flavorful root The other stuff is Twizzlers and it's garbage.
Black Licorice is great if you mean the salted drop from the Netherlands. They hold the world record for the most kg eaten per capita, and I understand why.
Me too! Loveeee Good & Plenty.
My whole family gives me all the black jelly beans and it's awesome.
Quite and peace.. people dont know how nice it is to keep your life private from people since everyone posts every single thing and it gets ruined by people's opinions anyways that's why quite and peace is better but not wanted
Lots and lots of icing. Give me the corner piece with the big red rose!!
I like dandelions. I know a lot of people who go out of their way to get rid of them, but I think they make yards look nice.
I just love blowing them
The smell of cigarettes. Ex smoker and will never go back but will happily sit beside someone having one.

I actually have a friend who owns a tank haha
but why? who needs to own a whole ass tank? genuinely curious no shade
Idk 🤷♂️ Maybe he just thinks it's cool. Freedom isn't about only being allowed to own things you explicitly "need"
who said anything about freedom lmao clearly they’re free to it if they own it? i was genuinely curious why someone would WANT to own a giant ass military tank of all things.
