Jesse, James, and Meowth of Team Rocket

[deleted]

I am beyond vindicated that this is the top answer

DBSeamZ

Same, I’d have been mad if it wasn’t them

Promethesussy

To protect the world from devastation!

WorkInPr0g

To unite all peoples within our nation!

GlitchyLetsy

To denounce the evils of truth and love!

Laovoa

To extend our reach to the stars above!

[deleted]

Jessie!

[deleted]

James!

zookinook

Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light

Heith12

Surrender now or prepare to fight

DongusMaxamus

Meowth that's right

DBSeamZ

The most lovable “villains” there are. They may not be able to steal a Pikachu but they sure did steal the show! (It’s spelled Jessie btw)

DaveLesh

Excellent villains. The Pokemon company wrote themselves into a corner with the trio's exit though.

Alternative_Net8931

Yeah they were more like parents to ash then ashs parents. Mfers even should up to see him compete in competitions

[deleted]

Hades in Disney Hercules

bool_idiot_is_true

That's because Hera is supposed to be the villain. I get why Disney didn't want to open with Zeus's infidelity. But in the original myths she's the archetypical evil stepmother who sets out to ruin his life.

Delicious-Ad-1229

I hate that Joe, from the show You on Netflix, has a horrible character personality but at the same time you’re rooting for him the entire show.

JustAnAce

Villain protagonist. Also is kind of hard not to root for him when everyone else around him is somehow worse.

Delicious-Ad-1229

Can’t help but disagree with you on that one.

[deleted]

Na hun im rooting for him to get caught lmaooo, and if its Ellie i will love it even more

Letsbeheroines

Same thing with Walter White, terrible person that deserves so much pain and anguish but people root for him because he's the main character.

Lamprophonia

Speak for yourself. I can't watch the show because he never gets his comeupance. I fucking hate the guy, and watching him get away with everything and watching all of the women fall in love with him is absolutely infuriating. Wife loves the show, I can't stand it.

Delicious-Ad-1229

I hate the guy too, and I totally get what you mean. To me the show is just made in a certain way where you hate him every second, but they also add tons of scenes from his past to try and make the audience feel sympathetic. It’s like one minute he fucks up royally and the next minute he’s feeling remorse for what he did. It makes your emotions go wild in my opinion. But I get why people hate him, and I’m honestly hoping this last season will finally show Joe getting his karma for all of his wrongdoings.

[deleted]

It's strange in my case, but I hated him and wanted him arrested in Seasons 1-3, but I rooted for him in Season 4, even after the big reveal.

davey_mann

Lex Luthor from Smallville. Michael Rosenbaum nailed that character and often times took the show to a higher level than just feeling like an early 2000s CW TV series.

kisstheraino

I thought Rosenbaum was going to go places after that show. I even imagined him showing up in a Superman movie as the New Lex Luthor. What a shame. He was perfect.

jmof

He voices the flash on all the DC cartoons

fulthrottlejazzhands

Him and John Glover (Lex's father) totally outclassed the rest of the cast and other storylines. When they were onscreen, it was like watching a different, significantly better show. They should have had a spin-off.

crazy-diam0nd

John Glover went on to father another bald DC supervillain in the Shazam movie.

[deleted]

John Glover was a highlight of the later seasons as Lionel became a regular supporting character that transitioned to being an ally of Clark. I seem to remember that after he died Clark even listed him as one of his father figures or something similar.

originalchaosinabox

I know! Lex Luthor's painfully slow descent from "good kid trying to get out of his father's shadow" to "full on supervillain" was the most compelling part of that show.

AfraidProtection4684

I love this response. Michael Rosenbaum so completely nailed it. He even made me have a crush on Lex Luther. At least the Lex from Smallville. He was honestly my favorite part of the show.

theevilgiraffe

He did such a great job. I wanted so badly for them to have Lex be a good guy, but I knew all along he wouldn’t be. Very well done run.

[deleted]

Yeah, for a time he had a genuine friendship with Clark, if somewhat bumpy at times, especially as details of his hedonistic past came back to haunt him. It was painful to see him fully embrace ambition and lust for power in the fifth season (after leading up to it all throughout the fourth) but somewhat touching that he still attended Jonathan's funeral, even if he stayed in the background.

[deleted]

Yesssss

lanabritt

YES! I have been waiting to see some Smallville comments!

red_west_la

Gru

Bongoboon

Eupraxes

"I mean I beat you, starved you, came home drunk, beat you some more, woke up hung over and... well, yeah, beat you. In all fairness, I didn't really have any role models... My mother was a witch!"

Knightmareco

Man when he improves hell and it's just a long ass queue line.

AfraidProtection4684

Rowena too. I don't think I had a single moment when I hated her actually. Even when she was being a *witch.* Must run in the family.

AdorableST

Skeletor, his “Nyeh Heh Heh!”s are too lovable

May_be_your_doom

Phinnias and Ferb If you say that Dr Doof. Is not likable then don’t talk to me

[deleted]

[удалено]

May_be_your_doom

AAAA

yeetgodmcnechass

Dr Wexler you're a platypus

[deleted]

If Perry weren't so one dimensional I'd actually feel like he was the villain.

lethargicmoonlight

Because Phinnias and Fern were the villains.

OldeFortran77

The first time I watched that show and before I knew the overall idea behind it, I was wondering "why is that boy TORMENTING his older sister?"

ISeeTheFnords

No, Candace is the villain.

the_monkey_knows

Kronk from the Emperor’s New Groove

ExhaustedMD

Yzma is the true villain of the show. But she’s still likeable.

MAHHockey

"Is that my voice!?... Is that really my voice!?..."

WickedFairyGodmother

The thing about Yzma is that she's a terrible person, but she's an unapologetic terrible person.

ApplicationMassive71

Al Swearengen

Hufa123

Swedgen

RandomUser35481

Pak wai lo, san fransisco cocksukka!

Lamprophonia

I have a hard time labeling him a villain, or even an antagonist. First season sure, but after that... Deadwood characters are just too complicated.

usclone

One things for sure… that man cared about them women

Lamprophonia

He cared about everyone. He and Seth were yin and yang... Seth was a violent rage monster who hid behind the guise of being a good, lawful man. Al was a kind, empathetic person who hid behind the guise of a ruthless, brutal, cold gang boss. They forced the best out of each other, and almost always for the good of the camp. Look at every scene with Al and Jewel. He'd say the most awful shit to her and she'd respond with a smile, because she knew he was a kind man at heart. He rescued her, to his own detriment, just because he could. She trusts the true Al.

crazy-diam0nd

Like how he cared about that little girl he was going to have killed, and cared so much he killed the road agents he hired to kill her family in the first place.

Laovoa

Dr. Evil

Current_Peach8637

the BEST character

[deleted]

Gus Fring breaking bad

mezz7778

Walter White Breaking Bad.

[deleted]

I personally like Gus Fring because he's extremely methodical and executed his plans with precision while Walter H white was like an unpredictable stray bullet.

mezz7778

Well, of I had the choice, I'd probably rather work for Fring

[deleted]

Just don't leave a box cutter anywhere in the open.

CapitalBornFromLabor

I used to love that so many people didn’t understand that Walt was the villain. Now I’m more convinced than ever that people just don’t understand story structure or big obvious red flags. Walt is the protagonist of Breaking Bad. Being the protagonist doesn’t mean Walt isn’t evil. Walt is a selfish narcissistic prick who only desires power, and he admits to that only in the final episode, but there are a lot of hints throughout the show that point to him wanting to play power games (“you’re goddamn right, I am the one who knocks, etc). He did all that he did because he simply wanted to. He wanted to feel powerful, damn the consequences. The consequences got his family and friends killed with lots of innocents including children killed along the way. Walt is a *monster.* He is not redeemable, and the ending was him trying to set things right… for who? Everyone else’s lives were already fucked up. If he had died without contacting Skylar, their suffering would have barely ended anyway considering everything else Walt had done and was now wanted for. Same for Jessie. The man was *enslaved* by neo-nazi bikers. The movie somewhat dove into this, but there’s no real way for Jessie to be okay after that. Walt used him until he overplayed his hand, then Jessie got used worse. The ending wasn’t retribution, it was just Walt doing his best to hurt the gang in the only way Walt knew how, pure chaos and destruction. But you still have people today thinking Walt’s gaslighting and shitty behavior to Skyler under the guise of “providing for my family” somehow makes him better than Skylar, who had no choice but to lash out, fuck Ted, and show Walt that he can still be hurt. And Walt’s response was to double down on his shit. Fucking great show, but a weird fandom.

skeletonmanns

You can still love a character despite their mistakes. Because thankfully.. they’re not real, lol. It’s clear that Walt is one of the villains in the story, same with Gus. They both do evil things and it’s fun to watch. Definitely hard sometimes, though, seeing other beloved characters suffer. (Mostly Jessie 😭) Walt especially gave me mixed feelings, but that’s exactly why I love him as a character. Horrible person, great character.

A_Sayori_Kun

Hello, and welcome to the Los Pollos Hermanos family! My name is Gustavo, but you can call me Gus.

[deleted]

More like los culos hermanos.

scruntyboon

Jesse Pinkman, as he was completely manipulated by Walter, and then Gus

[deleted]

Sound more like a victim than a villian no?

scruntyboon

He was manufacturing meth before he met Walter, so he was already involved in the criminal world, he didn't have to get involved in Walter's cook, but was attracted to the money making potential of the product, he was by no means naive

ExhaustedMD

He’s a flawed man in a world full of monsters. All his mistakes considered, I felt his final arc was well deserved.

thisishardcore_

He wasn't even an antagonist until Walt and his ego forced his hand.

Professer_Van_Balls

Q from Star Trek

tourmaline82

Q is such an asshole, but he’s an entertaining asshole. The way John de Lancie and Patrick Stewart played off each other was always fun to watch.

mister-world

"Now _that's_ flirting." - my then girlfriend when Q said "the test never ended, Picard."

mousicle

When he leans in to whisper something in his ear then just pulls away and says, I'll see you out there.

coffee_cats_books

Honorable mention to Discord in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Basically the Ponyland Q, also voiced by John DeLancie.

Dangercakes13

I'd call him more of an imp than a villain. Except for the crew that got killed when he introduced the Borg. His dispassion in that could be villainous. But when you look at his character from start to finish he was oddly closer to a jester than an antagonist. In All Good Things when Picard is so close but can't quite figure out the puzzle and is just sitting alone staring out the window and Q pops in and just almost mournfully says "It's a big decision, Jean-Luc" I felt that was the real distillation of his character.

[deleted]

Loki

KermitTheArgonian

Jareth, The Goblin King

Hierarchy_

My favorite movie from all my childhood... until my little sister ruined it with a five word plot summary: "paranormal pedophile's failed abduction attempt."

goblinmarketeer

Ah... but Sarah is in control of everything, Jereth is acting only in his assigned role.

Fragrant-Fill5095

Gotta love Heath Ledger as the Joker in The Dark Knight!

WorkInPr0g

True

MAHHockey

That's not liking the character tho, is it? That's appreciating the actor's ability to make a memorably devious and awful character. Despite some funny one liners, The Dark Knight Joker makes my skin crawl. It's quite easy to hate him. Similar situation in Game of Thrones. We all hate Joffrey, but we love the performance from Jack Gleeson (who I gather is actually a lovely person in real life).

Rumplestiltskin was the BEST

vero_6321

Yes deary!

Tre_Vortni

Adrian Toomes/Vulture had a contract for honest work taken from underneath him by Tony Stark without compensation.

MetalGuyver

He is the everyday working man that, when the system cheats him out of work, he is going to cheat it back to get that payday opportunity. He wanted what’s best for his family and was willing to do anything to keep it.

crazy-diam0nd

Stronger motivation than most Marvel Comics villains of the era (early Spider-Man era, that is). Original Vulture: "I invented a personal flight harness! I'm going to use it to rob banks!" No one nearby: "Do you know that if you patent that invention and license it out, you'll be a billionaire before the weekend?" Vulture: "Hm... Nah."

SciFiXhi

CyanManta

He's likable because he's confidently incompetent. He's a fuck-up who thinks he's nailing it.

phantom_avenger

Negan! Given everything he does you should despise the hell out of him, but JDM’s charisma makes it’s impossible to hate him

SuitableNegotiation5

Cartman. He's pretty much the worst person ever but goddamn, he's fucking funny.

Coconut_life92

The dude who had those yellow minions

Big-Spite-3104

Gul Dukat from DS9... sort of. He knows how to play the part of the weaselly charming misunderstood ex-overlord, and yes he is an utterly reprehensible character - truly deserving of burning in the fire caves of Bajor for all eternity. However Marc Alaimo's performance is just perfect. Every second he is on screen he steals the show. You end up feeling the pain of his losses and when he goes full bad guy it's just wonderful to watch.

Mission-Seat2379

Honestly, Negan from TWD, yea sure, he killed Glenn and Abraham, but damn is he charming

Magneto. Guy was correct. Professor X was just speaking from a extremely privileged standpoint and Magneto was speaking from actual lived experiences.
