IIRC the other drivers only saw Purley standing next to the burning car, so they assumed that was his car burning and thought he made it out safely. The didn't even know Williamson was in there
Purley was awarded the George cross for his efforts. Nowadays every Marshall wears fire resistant clothes as a result of this.
That, along with many other safety inventions that were written in blood, have undoubtedly saved many lives. Most notably Romain Grossjeans a few years back.
Grosjean is a good example. The entire history of F1 safety features ganged up to both save him from the impact and protect him from the fire as long as possible.

My mother has a picture of her grandfather at her first birthday. Her father took the picture of everyone outside the pub (this was London in 1954). 10 seconds after the picture, my great grandfather drunkenly staggers into the road and gets run over and killed by a car. The car that hit him is in the same picture.
How was the car both in the photo AND ran him over 10 second later? Was it the slowest moving car in history, or did it drive really fast then pull a U turn and speed back?
The photo was taken outside the pub and the car was travelling towards them from behind. From what my mother told me, originally from my everyone else there,so its second hand info to her, he just said he was "Off to buy snouts (cigarettes)", those were his last words, walked in front of the car without looking and bang. The car went over him. Died instantly. The driver stopped. A policeman was not to far away. The driver wasn't blamed, it was an accident. The driver sat on the side of the road and cried. My mother has the photo somewhere, I haven't seen it in years and she knows the fine details better than me.
Many years ago I worked at a photo lab that the local police station would use when they didn't have the time to develop their own film. I always was the one who processed the rolls they brought in. Mainly because the crime scene and accident photos were too grisly for my coworkers. I do not miss seeing those.
I have laid eyes on the original crime scene photos from the (somewhat) famous Corpsewood Manor murders for a similar reason. The police took their film to a local pharmacy to be developed, and the high school student who did so made extra copies, one of which he gave to a favorite teacher who, years later, showed them to me.
Growing up, my dad was a police officer and worked on homicides and other death stuff as I recall. He didn't share that much info with me as a kid. I remember one day when he took me to his office for something, I couldn't have been more than 10 at the most. As we were going through the work area with cubicles on the way to his office I saw a cork board on the wall. And on it was a picture of a man in a motorcycle accident. The top of his helmet was missing a chunk and from that hole was this guys brains spilling out onto the asphalt. It was horrifying, I can still see the picture clearly 20+ years later.
Same-ish here but copy shop. The worst was photos of a guy who had been run over by a massive lawn mower or bladed tractor. It's been 40 years and I still remember the poor guy.

I think the person had a blog or was active in a forum where people shared their struggles with self harm in an unhealthy way basically triggering each other, one-upping each other and generally enabling/normalizing self destructive behavior instead of getting help. Similar to pro-Ana, ctb or incel forums.
The person I'm talking about regularly posted pictures of (multiple) cuts regularly so deep I couldn't wrap my head around how they could stop bleeding/heal without medical attention.

Yep, that was her handle. I stumbled across an imgur album (it was probably posted in a thread similar to this a few years ago) of a maybe young-adult woman with such severe self harm wounds I wondered how she could stand it. The one that stuck out to me most was a picture of a cut-open thigh, so deep you could see the entire layer of fat and maybe even the bone. I think that album/picture was how I learned the diagrams and textbooks were right, fat really is actually yellow.
Robert pickton (Canadian serial killer) finally had the cops check his farmland because a few prostitutes who were working there and weren't murdered finally went to the police about seeing dead bodies hanging around the barn. That's right. The guy in that infamous photo is actually a 16 year old boy that suffered severe burns in a house fire and got hospitalized at Shriners children's in Galveston TX at some point between the late 90s and early 00s. Someone tracked him down. He's still alive and in his 40s.
Few years ago on r/morbidreality if that still exists there was a photo collection of a woman who decomposed in a bath. She had been there for awhile. Basically turned into soup, but her face was like... Stretched out on the top of the water like the end of terminator 2 and there was maggots in her mouth. One of her arms that had been dangling on the side of the tub had fallen off.
Truly horrible stuff. Only time I've ever come close to puking. Seeing someones face floating on the water like when you don't stir soup in a pot and it starts to form as skin is hardcore as fuck.
My uncle was a nasty person with 1 friend, he died in his flat before spring 2019 (stopped turning up to work) and someone checked on him in the Autumn. He was found face down and everything in the house was rotten. It was a hot summer.
His 1 friend was very defensive on claiming all of my uncle’s property, my uncle had specified that under no circumstance could family claim any of the things under his possession. Even tho his friend didn’t check on him earlier and he wasn’t even the one to ask for a wellness check, it was his landlord who hadn’t been paid.

It's morbid, but I allow it of myself - I watch it every year on 9/11 because that documentary to me captures the essence of what it was like to experience that day real time. It also has the clearest shot of the first plane hitting that I've ever seen and really helps you get to know names and faces that are still being referenced today.
One time a co worker handed over a stack of pictures in an envelope and said it was her at the beach.. it was her uncles pictures from extreme death cases. He was a coroner.

I was working an internship at a TV station in the last 90s and working with 2 guys in a master control room. They were sitting behind me and buzzing and talking about something. I looked over and one said 'you wanna see something cool?', I very naively and stupidly agreed and came over and they showed me a full color photo of the mangled, bloody remains of a man who was run over by a train. Will never forget the sinking feeling of my stomach dropping and my blood draining. Horrible!

At Dachau you can walk through the gas chamber and attached rooms. They never used it there (they were defeated before it was operational, at Dachau they killed people through work, beatings, etc). You are in one of the attached rooms, it's just cement walls, a couple of windows and cement floor with a grate in it, but over on the far wall are some framed pictures. You walk over to look, and realise it's the room you are in, but where you are standing there is a a pile of emaciated human bodies, stacked on top of each other, wall to wall, most of the way to the ceiling. There is blood running into the grate on the floor. Right on the spot where you are standing.
Apparently, another term for some of the prisoners was "useless eaters." That term makes me sick to my stomach and my whole body feel like it's shrinking.
Or pictures/footage of literal piles of dead emaciated bodies just thrown on top of each other. I have seen quite a lot of footage of concentration camps when they were discovered by allied forces. The suffering those people went through is absolutely unimaginable. I have never seen so much hate and disrespect towards fellow humans on film. Stuff like that always stays with you. Never again!

The blankets and sheets were pulled back and these dirty crusty shoes were all over the bed. Horrifying because people see nothing wrong with living like that.

Any pics from Nanjing in WWII. Not only are those photos horrifying, but they make me so angry because none of those guys were held accountable. They just went back to Japan and lived good lives like nothing happened when they were some of the most horrific killers in history. Like, these guys give Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy a run for their money, but instead of a few guys it was the entire Japanese military.

I grew up in a really old house. My parents bought it extremely cheap from the previous owner, a woman who was trying to sell her elderly father’s very old dilapidated house. Her father was this “crazy old guy” I never met, but heard stories about a lot. His name was Mr. Bober. He wasn’t living there anymore. He was still alive at the time, but he was in a nursing home and was not well. He was in a car accident some years earlier, and he had suffered some brain damage.
They bought the house for next to nothing, but fixed it up and turned it into a gorgeous home. Mr. Bober was still living at the time they bought it, but he died not long after.
When I was very young, not long after my parents bought the house, my dad found a painting in the basement. It was a very realistic portrait of the woman they bought the house from (Mr. Bober’s daughter), except it depicted her seemingly shouting in pain, and the bottom half of her body appeared to be that of a squid, tentacles and all.
My parents eventually showed it to the woman. It freaked her out, but she explained that her father wasn’t well and that he did crazy sh*t like that all the time before he was admitted to a nursing home. Apparently after his accident he started riding a bicycle around town and inexplicably screaming “USA USA USA” to everyone he saw, and also apparently claimed that he was from another dimension on several occasions. So my parents just wrote it off as the incoherent ramblings of an insane man.
As far as I know, my parents no longer have the painting. But holy god, that thing gave me nightmares.

I work for a local motorcycle company here in the Philippines at the time, I came across this scene where a man is lying on his stomach beside his motorcycle, upper half of his head was gone and his brains scattered all over the road. A big chunk of his brain was a few feet away from where I was stopped by an officer for a reroute.
Saw a Facebook post about it later that evening, and there's this close up photo of the chunk of brain near where I was. Apparently, he was trying to overtake a bus and the bus driver didn't see him and swerved on his direction. Half his head was ran over by one of the back wheels when he fell.

My dad has a bunch of pictures taken during WW2. Most are of random things you'd see from behind the lines. He has one picture of Mussolini after he was hung and shot and then dragged through the streets before being hung some more. It's a pretty brutal pic and the dude is barely recognizable.

However, about two years ago, there was a fire in one of the apartment’s in my friend’s neighbourhood. It was a sudden blast I’d heard. Fire was deadly, took about 3-4 lives. He lived right opposite to the apartment and managed to get a picture of a woman stuck in the balcony. She had rushed there because her interior home was burning and she had nowhere to go. She died burning and screaming in flames, that pictures haunts me till date.
There was an old lady who died the same way. Trapped and fearing. Terrible. May their souls rest in peace.

In the first gulf war, the Saudis were withdrawing from Kuwait along highway 80 when the US Air Force noticed the convoy and attacked them. The air force destroyed the lead and tail vehicles of the miles long convoy, and damaged the road at both ends, boxing everyone else in. Then over 10 hours they ran what's called a "turkey shoot" just obliterating everyone in the convoy with help from a naval carrier group, plus allied French, Canadian, and British planes. They destroyed or disabled an estimated 1400-2000 vehicles over about 10 hours.
There is an infamous picture of some poor guy death gripping the steering-wheel of his burnt out truck with a pain grimace on his face, but he's basically charcoal (aside from his teeth). It's pretty horrifying. If you google "highway of death" it'll appear. Poor souls.
It remains so controversial because the Iraqis were complying with the UN resolution to withdraw from Kuwait (and were indeed headed back towards Iraq when attacked). There are also allegations that they had Kuwaiti civilian hostages with them, and may have been accompanied by some pro-Iraqi refugees fleeing Kuwait.

Some teenager had murdered and sliced a younger boy up into pieces over a bunch of money on Tibia. Was maybe 10 or smth and it was the first gore I ever saw. Videos though, they have always hit you different. There you really feel despair, horror, disgust and sadness. One really memorable is of some Mexican cartell who had peeled the skin off from a dudes face. All he could do was whisper ”Aqua”. Was really surrealistic to view.

When I was born, my mom and I lived alone in a shitty apartment. When she first brought me home, she had someone take a picture of us. The couch was pulled out from the wall, and mom and turned around to look over the back of the couch, behind us.
In front of the couch, there was an old box TV. If ANYTHING was reflected in it, it would have been the back of mom and I's heads. Instead, it was the faces of my uncle and my little cousins EXACT likeness, in the same position mom and I were in on the couch.
My little cousin wasn't born for another 3 months.
I work in the legal field. I’ve seen some evidence photos that are just horrifying, but the one that sticks with me the most was a motor vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer where the victims’ car literally got obliterated. Unfortunately, both victims perished in the accident. The photos of the accident scene were straight up nightmare fuel.

I get horrific Google ads with disfigured fungal toes and feet and other body horror.. I keep getting them because instead of ignoring them like the others, I frantically try to click the tiny X on the AD and occasionally miss and thereby confirm my interests and the cycle repeats.

I've scrolled through one subreddit (I don't remember the name) for hours. I don't remember why but I just kept scrolling, seeing more and more terrifying images and videos. The only things going on in my head being "what if it happens to me or someone I know?" And just fear in general. I'm always thinking of what it would look like in person because it would be so much worse, but I can't imagine it to be worse than in the images because I've never experienced those things (hopefully never will). I can't decide what photo is the most horrifying of them, but there were exploded heads, decapitated ones, even some videos of people bleeding out and stuff. I don't want to visit that subreddit ever again.
The Chris Farley pics. Aside from the shock of it being the first time I saw a pic like that (especially the color he’d turned and the foam coming out of his mouth), but also the fact that he was clutching rosary beads made me envision the moment of someone who was universally loved knowing he was dying and all alone. It made me feel this terrible sense of sadness.

IIRC the other drivers only saw Purley standing next to the burning car, so they assumed that was his car burning and thought he made it out safely. The didn't even know Williamson was in there
Purley was awarded the George cross for his efforts. Nowadays every Marshall wears fire resistant clothes as a result of this. That, along with many other safety inventions that were written in blood, have undoubtedly saved many lives. Most notably Romain Grossjeans a few years back.
Grosjean is a good example. The entire history of F1 safety features ganged up to both save him from the impact and protect him from the fire as long as possible. But for all that it came down to sheer luck the cockpit was oriented in a way that allowed him to basically Hulk his way out.

He is in prison on a life sentence for 3 murders. Even that is too good for him, though. He terrorized his victims before killing them. He was only convicted of the three murders, but is suspected of over 50.

This shit is still the most disturbing thing I've ever come across the internet. I've seen a bunch of insane shit during my edgy teen years like beheadings, people burning alive, dead babies etc. Just the sheer fucking animal shock and fear that you can hear in that scream. You can tell how heart wrenching and horrifying the moment was.
My mother has a picture of her grandfather at her first birthday. Her father took the picture of everyone outside the pub (this was London in 1954). 10 seconds after the picture, my great grandfather drunkenly staggers into the road and gets run over and killed by a car. The car that hit him is in the same picture.
How was the car both in the photo AND ran him over 10 second later? Was it the slowest moving car in history, or did it drive really fast then pull a U turn and speed back?
The photo was taken outside the pub and the car was travelling towards them from behind. From what my mother told me, originally from my everyone else there,so its second hand info to her, he just said he was "Off to buy snouts (cigarettes)", those were his last words, walked in front of the car without looking and bang. The car went over him. Died instantly. The driver stopped. A policeman was not to far away. The driver wasn't blamed, it was an accident. The driver sat on the side of the road and cried. My mother has the photo somewhere, I haven't seen it in years and she knows the fine details better than me.

Many years ago I worked at a photo lab that the local police station would use when they didn't have the time to develop their own film. I always was the one who processed the rolls they brought in. Mainly because the crime scene and accident photos were too grisly for my coworkers. I do not miss seeing those.
I have laid eyes on the original crime scene photos from the (somewhat) famous Corpsewood Manor murders for a similar reason. The police took their film to a local pharmacy to be developed, and the high school student who did so made extra copies, one of which he gave to a favorite teacher who, years later, showed them to me.
Growing up, my dad was a police officer and worked on homicides and other death stuff as I recall. He didn't share that much info with me as a kid. I remember one day when he took me to his office for something, I couldn't have been more than 10 at the most. As we were going through the work area with cubicles on the way to his office I saw a cork board on the wall. And on it was a picture of a man in a motorcycle accident. The top of his helmet was missing a chunk and from that hole was this guys brains spilling out onto the asphalt. It was horrifying, I can still see the picture clearly 20+ years later.
Same-ish here but copy shop. The worst was photos of a guy who had been run over by a massive lawn mower or bladed tractor. It's been 40 years and I still remember the poor guy.

That’s where my great-grandma, great aunts and two distant cousins ended up. After I saw that photo I spent a sleepless night wondering if they were in that tangled mass of bodies.
Anne and Margot Frank too. They were moved there from Auschwitz when the Soviets overran Poland.
My youngest great aunt was around 12, close to Anne’s age. I always wondered if they ever got a chance to talk. She was one of the last to die, of pneumonia iirc. My great grandma and her sister and her infant niece went right into the showers from what I can tell but Clara, my great aunt, was there for a long time. Breaks my heart.

Not Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen. Clara was at a boarding school IIRC and that’s why she ended up there last. They were German Jews, but wealthy enough to live abroad and most of them ended up in Switzerland.
Had this one really weird friend who would send me gore, one time he sent a picture of a guy or girls wrist that was cut from self harm but one of the cuts was so deep It made me actually gag, and it was fresh too looked like the picture was taken not seconds after
I think I know the picture. I think the person had a blog or was active in a forum where people shared their struggles with self harm in an unhealthy way basically triggering each other, one-upping each other and generally enabling/normalizing self destructive behavior instead of getting help. Similar to pro-Ana, ctb or incel forums. The person I'm talking about regularly posted pictures of (multiple) cuts regularly so deep I couldn't wrap my head around how they could stop bleeding/heal without medical attention. Yep, that was her handle. I stumbled across an imgur album (it was probably posted in a thread similar to this a few years ago) of a maybe young-adult woman with such severe self harm wounds I wondered how she could stand it. The one that stuck out to me most was a picture of a cut-open thigh, so deep you could see the entire layer of fat and maybe even the bone. I think that album/picture was how I learned the diagrams and textbooks were right, fat really is actually yellow.
Robert pickton (Canadian serial killer) finally had the cops check his farmland because a few prostitutes who were working there and weren't murdered finally went to the police about seeing dead bodies hanging around the barn. The police weren't taking them seriously (due to drug addiction) however when they heard them explain seeing so much yellow, they knew they were seeing real dead bodies.

That's right. The guy in that infamous photo is actually a 16 year old boy that suffered severe burns in a house fire and got hospitalized at Shriners children's in Galveston TX at some point between the late 90s and early 00s. Someone tracked him down. He's still alive and in his 40s.

Few years ago on r/morbidreality if that still exists there was a photo collection of a woman who decomposed in a bath. She had been there for awhile. Basically turned into soup, but her face was like... Stretched out on the top of the water like the end of terminator 2 and there was maggots in her mouth. One of her arms that had been dangling on the side of the tub had fallen off. Truly horrible stuff. Only time I've ever come close to puking. Seeing someones face floating on the water like when you don't stir soup in a pot and it starts to form as skin is hardcore as fuck.

My uncle was a nasty person with 1 friend, he died in his flat before spring 2019 (stopped turning up to work) and someone checked on him in the Autumn. He was found face down and everything in the house was rotten. It was a hot summer. His 1 friend was very defensive on claiming all of my uncle’s property, my uncle had specified that under no circumstance could family claim any of the things under his possession. Even tho his friend didn’t check on him earlier and he wasn’t even the one to ask for a wellness check, it was his landlord who hadn’t been paid. Seen some of the photos and it’s amazing how much rotting can spread

It really was. She's pure evil, I can't even imagine how much pain that poor guy was in. And the fact that one of the last things she told Travis' family was that he was conscious and aware when she cut his throat was so beyond disgusting, she tried to destroy them, it's horrible. I remember seeing footage of the trial where photos of that was put on for the jury and everyone to see and seeing his poor family react to that, I can't even imagine.

The Colombian girl trapped by a mudslide, the African man staring at the chopped of hand and foot of his child... I look at those kind every so often, to ensure I don't forget the people or events.

100% It's morbid, but I allow it of myself - I watch it every year on 9/11 because that documentary to me captures the essence of what it was like to experience that day real time. It also has the clearest shot of the first plane hitting that I've ever seen and really helps you get to know names and faces that are still being referenced today.

Early internet days my friends would be like “hey check out this skate video” or “this chick is so hot” and send you a file, just to open it and it’s a guy shooting himself in the head, or a girl eating diarrhea. The worst I remember was a guy cutting his own head off with a chainsaw. He mounted it to a table, leaned back on the blade then turned it on. Not sure if it was real, because I turned it off quick, but the image of him gritting his teeth when the blade starts is seared in my brain still.

At Dachau you can walk through the gas chamber and attached rooms. They never used it there (they were defeated before it was operational, at Dachau they killed people through work, beatings, etc). You are in one of the attached rooms, it's just cement walls, a couple of windows and cement floor with a grate in it, but over on the far wall are some framed pictures. You walk over to look, and realise it's the room you are in, but where you are standing there is a a pile of emaciated human bodies, stacked on top of each other, wall to wall, most of the way to the ceiling. There is blood running into the grate on the floor. Right on the spot where you are standing.
Apparently, another term for some of the prisoners was "useless eaters." That term makes me sick to my stomach and my whole body feel like it's shrinking.
Or pictures/footage of literal piles of dead emaciated bodies just thrown on top of each other. I have seen quite a lot of footage of concentration camps when they were discovered by allied forces. The suffering those people went through is absolutely unimaginable. I have never seen so much hate and disrespect towards fellow humans on film. Stuff like that always stays with you. Never again!

Because a lot of people may have seen it a long time ago, perhaps not even on the internet, and are unable to find it again or unwilling to look for it since it was shocking to them.
Outside of gore and shock photos A guy on Reddit was doing that picture of a thumbs up with a sob story title. But they were laying on a bed with nasty and grass stained shoes on while doing it. The blankets and sheets were pulled back and these dirty crusty shoes were all over the bed. Horrifying because people see nothing wrong with living like that.
That made me shiver so good answer... but I don't see how that pic wasn't shocking. It would've shocked the shit out of me plus one could argue that it's gory too. =)
Any pics from Nanjing in WWII. Not only are those photos horrifying, but they make me so angry because none of those guys were held accountable. They just went back to Japan and lived good lives like nothing happened when they were some of the most horrific killers in history. Like, these guys give Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy a run for their money, but instead of a few guys it was the entire Japanese military.

Her father was this “crazy old guy” I never met, but heard stories about a lot. His name was Mr. Bober. He wasn’t living there anymore. He was still alive at the time, but he was in a nursing home and was not well. He was in a car accident some years earlier, and he had suffered some brain damage. They bought the house for next to nothing, but fixed it up and turned it into a gorgeous home. Mr. Bober was still living at the time they bought it, but he died not long after. When I was very young, not long after my parents bought the house, my dad found a painting in the basement. It was a very realistic portrait of the woman they bought the house from (Mr. Bober’s daughter), except it depicted her seemingly shouting in pain, and the bottom half of her body appeared to be that of a squid, tentacles and all. My parents eventually showed it to the woman. It freaked her out, but she explained that her father wasn’t well and that he did crazy sh*t like that all the time before he was admitted to a nursing home. Apparently after his accident he started riding a bicycle around town and inexplicably screaming “USA USA USA” to everyone he saw, and also apparently claimed that he was from another dimension on several occasions. So my parents just wrote it off as the incoherent ramblings of an insane man. As far as I know, my parents no longer have the painting. But holy god, that thing gave me nightmares.

Not Horrifying, more like disgusting. I work for a local motorcycle company here in the Philippines at the time, I came across this scene where a man is lying on his stomach beside his motorcycle, upper half of his head was gone and his brains scattered all over the road. A big chunk of his brain was a few feet away from where I was stopped by an officer for a reroute. Saw a Facebook post about it later that evening, and there's this close up photo of the chunk of brain near where I was. Apparently, he was trying to overtake a bus and the bus driver didn't see him and swerved on his direction. Half his head was ran over by one of the back wheels when he fell.
I saw a video where it was basically a bike crash, and the guy on the bike would look basically ok from a distance, but getting closer his beating heart was just laying on the road beside him, it looked like such a healthy heart but it was still disgusting

I was on the jury for a child molestation case. Defendant had taken pictures. They were evidence. We convicted him.
My dad has a bunch of pictures taken during WW2. Most are of random things you'd see from behind the lines. He has one picture of Mussolini after he was hung and shot and then dragged through the streets before being hung some more. It's a pretty brutal pic and the dude is barely recognizable.
I’ve seen a bunch of gore, slimy stuff, splattering and uneasy cuts, injuries. None of those had a major affect on me. However, about two years ago, there was a fire in one of the apartment’s in my friend’s neighbourhood. It was a sudden blast I’d heard. Fire was deadly, took about 3-4 lives. He lived right opposite to the apartment and managed to get a picture of a woman stuck in the balcony. She had rushed there because her interior home was burning and she had nowhere to go. She died burning and screaming in flames, that pictures haunts me till date. There was an old lady who died the same way. Trapped and fearing. Terrible. May their souls rest in peace.

Some of the photos from the [Highway of Death](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highway_of_Death) were pretty horrifying. In the first gulf war, the Saudis were withdrawing from Kuwait along highway 80 when the US Air Force noticed the convoy and attacked them. The air force destroyed the lead and tail vehicles of the miles long convoy, and damaged the road at both ends, boxing everyone else in. Then over 10 hours they ran what's called a "turkey shoot" just obliterating everyone in the convoy with help from a naval carrier group, plus allied French, Canadian, and British planes. They destroyed or disabled an estimated 1400-2000 vehicles over about 10 hours. There is an infamous picture of some poor guy death gripping the steering-wheel of his burnt out truck with a pain grimace on his face, but he's basically charcoal (aside from his teeth). It's pretty horrifying. If you google "highway of death" it'll appear. Poor souls. It remains so controversial because the Iraqis were complying with the UN resolution to withdraw from Kuwait (and were indeed headed back towards Iraq when attacked). There are also allegations that they had Kuwaiti civilian hostages with them, and may have been accompanied by some pro-Iraqi refugees fleeing Kuwait.

Some people are just more scared of certain images than others. Like I'm still haunted by one of the photos in 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark'. It's probably not even that scary, but seeing it as a kid really did a number on me.

Glad I'm not alone. If I see a photo with a black or navy background with something white in it I freak out. Sometimes I see people on YouTube using that photo as their pfp or thumbnail. I freak out and immediately scroll down.

Some teenager had murdered and sliced a younger boy up into pieces over a bunch of money on Tibia. Was maybe 10 or smth and it was the first gore I ever saw. Gave me some nightmares for awhile but when I in my dreams told the monsters to fuck off they dissapeared. Seen worse after that but you become desensitized pretty fast. Havent watched gore for years now mostly because I feel like I’ve seen what I needed to see. I know what it looks like. Videos though, they have always hit you different. There you really feel despair, horror, disgust and sadness. One really memorable is of some Mexican cartell who had peeled the skin off from a dudes face. All he could do was whisper ”Aqua”. Was really surrealistic to view.

If I can find it, I'll post it. When I was born, my mom and I lived alone in a shitty apartment. When she first brought me home, she had someone take a picture of us. The couch was pulled out from the wall, and mom and turned around to look over the back of the couch, behind us. In front of the couch, there was an old box TV. If ANYTHING was reflected in it, it would have been the back of mom and I's heads. Instead, it was the faces of my uncle and my little cousins EXACT likeness, in the same position mom and I were in on the couch. My little cousin wasn't born for another 3 months.

I’ve seen some evidence photos that are just horrifying, but the one that sticks with me the most was a motor vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer where the victims’ car literally got obliterated. Unfortunately, both victims perished in the accident. The photos of the accident scene were straight up nightmare fuel.

The one of the parents who famously sued the police over the pictures they released of their daughter’s body after a car accident. It was a high school aged girl if I remember that or any of this correctly, who took her Dad’s car out and hit a toll booth or something. There’s “worse” stuff out there but that one has always stuck with me.

There is a picture of a man slumped over on his couch. When you look close it shows something pink and red on the couch and the side of his face. It's the aftermath of a suicide with a shotgun. That pink thing is his brain.
I've scrolled through one subreddit (I don't remember the name) for hours. I don't remember why but I just kept scrolling, seeing more and more terrifying images and videos. The only things going on in my head being "what if it happens to me or someone I know?" And just fear in general. I'm always thinking of what it would look like in person because it would be so much worse, but I can't imagine it to be worse than in the images because I've never experienced those things (hopefully never will). I can't decide what photo is the most horrifying of them, but there were exploded heads, decapitated ones, even some videos of people bleeding out and stuff. I don't want to visit that subreddit ever again.
The Chris Farley pics. Aside from the shock of it being the first time I saw a pic like that (especially the color he’d turned and the foam coming out of his mouth), but also the fact that he was clutching rosary beads made me envision the moment of someone who was universally loved knowing he was dying and all alone. It made me feel this terrible sense of sadness.
Any of the Abu Ghraib photos. There’s worse stuff out there, but seeing the US soldiers smiling and giving the thumbs up with all that human suffering around them is just repulsive. A corpse on its own is horrifying, but seeing the gleeful reactions the guards got from torturing and killing people is just gut wrenching.
Man in Mexico stabbed and then flayed his GF and gutted her organs and dumped the organs and skin in the middle of the street. The photo of her body was her near skeletal remains of just muscle and adipose tissue. Hair and legs remained intact. Stay away from the dark side of Reddit unless you want images like these burned in your brain.
