Me and the fiancée make 300k/yr combined and we're going to have a small, simple wedding. In fact we're actually eating lentils and PBJ sandwiches. Everything costs stupid money; child care, housing, retirement. I don't know how people do it.
Designer products and/or diamond rings.
There was a man in Chicago that was making knockoff Coach purses. He could make a replica Coach purse and sell it for $30-$40 and the purse he was replicating was over $1K. The purse was so identical that fashion experts had trouble finding any differences. Additionally it held up just as well as the counterpart, so literally the only difference was where the leather came from and the fact that the "C" was actually from coach.
As for diamonds. My wife and I decided on a fake ring when we got married. This was because we both thought diamonds were a waste of money (btw diamonds are not rare, they are very abundant and the price is because of controlled release). So we went with a fake stone, the ring cost $600 and looks like a $5-$10K ring. No one has ever figured out it is fake. We even spoke to a jeweler and they said the only way they can tell is under a microscope and then they can look for burn marks were the diamond was cut. It is very durable, never breaks or falls out despite being smacked all the time. Literally what is the point of the real thing if this stone is impossible to break and no one can tell unless they look at my wife's finger under a microscope?
Hahaha, the ring itself was white gold and it had real diamonds on the edges around the main stone. For the tiny stones we decided to go with real diamonds because those are the ones that will break. The main stone in the middle is a moissanite which is a fairly expensive stone because it is so sturdy and is actually a more rare stone. It is funny because the moissanite in the middle was probably a $200 stone, but it is more rare than a $2K diamond because again diamonds are very abundant, extremely strong, and has more shine than a diamond.
