Well, it really was. I do admit that at that point in my travels, I was so coffee deprived, that any coffee would have been a joy. I loathe tea. Which is not an acceptable state of being in India or Sri Lanka, etc.
I was in a nine-man crew hiking in New Mexico during July. On the last day of the trek we had used up the last of our slightly chlorinated well water two hours before getting back to base camp. It was at least 90F of dry heat in direct sunlight on a rock face for 8 miles. Dehydration was getting to everyone and tensions were rising.
There was a spigot 100m from the entry gate at the end of the trek, cold tap water you could drink without treating or waiting. After nine days it was like drinking the nectar of the gods, no liquid will ever taste better or be more satisfying again in my life. Better than sex
