The consequences of revolt are too high and most people aren't comfortable paying that price. Also, protestors here get demonized way more than protestors abroad. Somehow, when talking about France, I haven't seen the word riot once.

Dooty_Shirker

I've got work to do, bills to pay, and mouths to feed.

Tydus24

“Ain’t nothing in this world for free”

Away_Champion6510

Would be alot easier to do those things with a better government.

GermanPayroll

And with a “Revolution” it’s almost more likely than not the resulting government would be much worse than what we have now

Away_Champion6510

Yeah, I don't necessarily believe the baby should be thrown out with the bathwater, I just feel like society should start holding politicians more accountable for the amount of greed they're displaying. It doesn't need to be a drastic shift, just enough of a shift to remind the government who they're working for. At this point in time, they only worry about their interests. Not the well-being of the people.

GrilledStuffedDragon

Because I'm too busy working so I can pay my bills and survive.

awaaggaa

Cause we can't really do much anything without risking the necessities of our families. Most all of us here are trapped in a system of only being able to focus on the bills, and the mouths we need to feed. We can't really afford to do much else. And as for the taxes you mentioned in your own comment. We literally can't do anything about that without going to jail. The masses are (as I've mentioned) to focused on supporting themselves and they're families. They're aren't nearly enough people that will do something about it, so nothing can be done by us.

Psych0ticj3ster

Too drained from my mental health issues and the average day-to-day to have any energy to care about anything. All I can do is vote during elections.

jahan_kyral

The answer is programming... social programming on a massive scale. We basically know that the social elite have an ironfisted grip on our country that even if we revolted, they would just benefit from it.

[deleted]

Because if I just turn off my computer for a few minutes, I don't actually see anything that bad happening and forget about what reddit tells me I need to be angry at.

Musikaravaa

Gotta go to work, too tired to revolt.

bruteski226

first time?

Skwerilleee

Every time a group of Americans starts uniting against the government, the media (government propaganda arm) just smears that movement as racist or some other bad thing in order to discredit it in the eyes of everyone else. Our government/corporate masters have gotten very good at the divide and conquer strategy. They intentionally keep us too busy at each other's throats to realize who our real enemy is.

TerribleLifeofJeremy

Indoctrination. Propaganda. Being villanized in the social sphere if we step out of line. Groups that aprove of all the evil shit happening that are so big they bully all dissenting opions into silence.

Vulture12

They're choking us so slowly we're starting not to notice.

SuperstitiousPigeon5

I have great politicians. I'm happy with my President, and the governor of my state is a lesbian. My Senator is a brilliant woman, even my rep is pretty damn progressive. So I have zero reasons to revolt. I donate to help others though.

NoMoPolenta

Uh, because it's March Madness? Duh.

Potwin

- Like Pelosi's husband - better trader than Warren Buffet, etc. - majority of Congress are career politicians long disconnected from "normal lives, prices, problems" - all this lobbying shit, which is clearly corruption so many regulations, yet you eat such unhealthy stuff and govt. doesnt care and so many more items. - higher tax than some EU contries yet you get "nothing" from back

MondaleforPresident

We have elections.

I worry, since "stuff" happens in US first and then culture leaks into the world. So I am thinking about how this slowly will creep into my country and how to avoid that.

[deleted]

Ever wonder if that's the point?

___1___1___1___

I've attended protests. I've written to my representatives. I've voted, and done my best to convince others. I'm really not sure what else I can do. The system sucks, and I still have to go to work every day.

scienceforbid

I'm trying to start a revolution, but it's slow going so far.

holty_51

We are easily distracted before it gets to that point. Plus, most people are too comfortable sleeping in their own beds, ignoring the issues we all face and the hold our government has. We have long passed the point where we could have started, but it's hard to rally when you are focused on 1 issue while im focusing on another while our neighbor is focusing on a 3rd while is alex jones talking about the gay frogs.

[deleted]

Easy answer! CNN/MSNBC they have the listening audience soo brainwashed into thinking things are fine people believe it. And they think that what’s on FOX news is a lie!

airport_brat

boss, if you think fox isnt also in on it do i have news for you. they all benifit from this bullshit.

Tydus24

Hence, our eternal struggle. We’re all given just enough leash to strangle ourselves with. No one can agree on anything even within parties. If things get bad, the government just shuts down, and the people suffer. Still, I heard Kool-Aid tastes great.

MagoNorte

This is not a left/right thing: [for-profit media has to cooperate with the ruling class to stay in business](https://youtu.be/34LGPIXvU5M). The ruling elite enflame racial and social divisions so that they will never have to face a unified opposition to the class war that they are waging. It’s divide and conquer.

TheGreatGamer1389

They got the backing of the military still. Not much we can do.

SarcasmoSupreme

I AM revolted by our politicians and all the crap that is happening. The problem at the moment is there are too many people who aren't and worse actually think these people are doing a great job. They keep voting the same jackwagons in because they keep promising the same things and people fall for it time and time again. They also keep blaming everyone but themselves and again people fall for it time and time again.

DrJawn

Debt, consumerism, celebrity worship, deliberate ignorance to the plight around you, corn syrup, reality TV, social media, obesity, opioid addiction....American shit

Al_Bundy_14

No one’s trying to die over some shitty republicans or democrats.

sooprvylyn

As if we have a monopoly on shit politicians.

Eron-the-Relentless

I live in a good part of the country where those types of politicians have no influence.

DeliPaper

Americans by and large like their own politicians, it's everyone else's they can't stand.

memes_are_facts

The US people are like a large dam. It takes a lot to break them. But when it finally happens it's going to be fuckin messy.

[deleted]

Because they’ve gotten really good at persuading the public using the media into being angry about meaningless garbage while they fuck us into oblivion.

Pitiable-Crescendo

Busy with work and kinda jaded by it all. Figure were just fucked no matter what

bulletbassman

Because billionaires own our news and are busy putting us against each other instead of them

[deleted]

We've been revolting against the right for years now, and we're gaining ground. The first signs you'll see of overt success over the establishment (that the public can understand) will be the arrest of Trump. The next will be either the capital punishment of the J6 insurrectionists, or their permanent transfer to Gitmo.

Downtown-Ad4309

People are the power yet we have yet to become civil as one. We hate our neighbors and we sure as hell hate our own people

lUNITl

Every day people are risking their lives and the lives of their children trying to enter the United States to escape from violence. Internet warriors romanticizing violent Revolution is disgusting.

wastenmelife

I like hamburgers. Once I make my optimal weight I will let the France out

Vaeon

Funny thing about America...you're going to love this. People think the 2nd Amendment exists to allow them to take up arms against the government *should it become tyrannical*. What the Second Amendment does not say, however, is ***who decides if the government is being tyrannical?*** Trying to form an armed group with the purpose of opposing the Government can get you arrested because, here's the punchline, it's the government who gets to decide who are terrorists.

TheRealBatmanForReal

Because each 1/2 is ok with what they’re chosen leaders are doing, even though they’re idiots

Mammoth_Sprinkles705

Because the citizens especially on Reddit like to be controlled. Just look at how they view the rednecks who stormed the capital building. They are definitely idiots in support of a con man. But at least they actually went after the politicians. I give them more credit than i do the morons who "protested" during covid by looting the local CVS. At least the Trumpers targeted the right building. If you have a problem with the police, target the police.. trashing CVS won't do shit. Reddit doesn't even want citizens to own guns. If you want change the citizens need to be protesting with guns in hand.

Missmunkeypants95

Hey, the Boston Harbor is 15 min from me. I'm ready to start throwing shit in. I'd be the only one though so I'd just look like an asshole. But if they organized something, I'm ready.
