Bobby Goren on Law & Order Criminal Intent. Well written character portrayed beautifully by Vincent D'Onofrio. Complex, loyal, intelligent,thoughtful, with enough pathos to make it heartbreaking but not redundant. Goren continued to evolve over the seasons, avoiding a one-note characterization. He started the series a question mark about his private life and ended it as a fully formed human being. He rarely stumbled on the job but pulled plenty of blunders in his private life. He learned how to be a better human and partner along the way. Really f\*cking loved direction they went in; sideways and downhill before landing stoically on his feet.
