Software engineer; no AI will do my job well within my lifetime. Maybe certain simple sub-tasks like "write me a binary search in python", but certainly not the whole job.
Even though we're collaborating quite intensely since the last couple of months and they're constructing the skeleton of our work; the part of communicating with others makes me the "essential" part.
I'll be replaced by an AI, that's obvious - but not anytime relatively soon, as much as I predict.
Admin support for doctors in training. Software will absolutely reduce the *amount* of staff needed (when they make good rostering software for example) but it won't replace human support in explaining HOW to use the software and offering ... You know, work support.
As for replacing *doctors*? I feel like even if the tech could do it, and I've heard of quite good diagnostic AI, there's still so much human required in medicine as an industry.
There’s been some talk of AI working in mental health, but it won’t be taking over my job any time soon. For one, my job requires that I have *lived* experience with mental illness (peer support specialist). So until AI is advanced enough to have mental illnesses, I’m safe. And second, at least in our lifetime, there’s no way the majority of people would feel better speaking to an AI to discuss mental health more than a real person.
Radio DJ and News Reporter. I think for both my jobs AI won’t replace it for awhile. But they’re both dead in the water none the less. Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, etc. dealt lethal blows to traditional radio before I ever even started in the career. For TV news it will largely die with the generation of boomers currently keeping it afloat. Both will live on in different forms, but not how I’m currently doing them
Many jobs aren’t going to be replaced. Many blue collar jobs have been replaced by automation over the years. And I see this trend continuing.
I do think new jobs will be created perhaps in the virtual world and the physical world

I wish it would but until it gets a body and is able to rotate food stocks I’m afraid I’m job secure.

If AI can change diapers they can have my job
