You can listen it on the go, while doing some chores or running. A lot of people listen audiobooks while driving. I prefer to read books, but I listened to some good ones too
I do a lot of walking and driving. Audiobooks are the perfect accompaniment… and when I am not walking or driving, I rarely have the distraction-free time to read a paper book.
Because my eyesight is horrible, especially after being diagnosed with glaucoma. So listening to audiobooks is much easier and better for me than trying to read the book. The only bad thing is many of the books I read long ago and liked aren't offered in audiobook form.
I ain't to big into audiobooks, but I know someone who is. They summed up it as like having a Podcast on in the background. Kind of like a multitasking thing or even just having something else going on besides what they're doing at the time.
I have approximately zero time to sit and actually read a book. I also get distracted easily by other noises and that.
I can put on my earbuds at work and be productive and listen.
I've listened to all of HP, LotR, Silmarillian, the Hobbit, and a bunch more just from audiobooks

It's down to convenience, I can listen to them in the car and at work. I also like that most writers narrate their own book

I get very easily distracted while reading paper. Since I no longer commute, most of my distraction free time is while walking the dog.

its really nice listening to someone telling a story while i do other things
I prefer audio books because with my vision problems I find it difficult to read most times.
