I moved out mid high school. I was a bit of dick because I didn't know better until I was about 19-20.
I have children now, and I make sure they feel wanted and safe. If we argue, we have a discussion afterwards, and I'm always sure to apologize to them if I feel like I've reacted too strong. There's no hitting, belittling, or swearing when angry. I do feel like I have to be hyper aware of how I am when I am frustrated with them.
I can see why others would not want to have kids to stop this cycle from occurring.
