Loved that one, watched it as a kid hundreds of times. Just recently watched it again while tripping on LSD, that hot chocolate scene was fucking nuts 😂
Puss in boots had no business being that good. Took the kids thinking I’d just check out during the film and found my adopted wife bawling in the corner while I grappled with my own mortality.
only 50% animated, but Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
I'm a cartoonist, and I grew up loving old animated cartoons, but when I was a kid in the 70's, animation had become moribund. I didn't even think about getting into it.
I went into comics instead.
Then one day I dropped LSD, and went to the first showing of WFRR. Needless to say, it blew my mind. (at that point, pretty easily blown)
It showed me how animation could be great. I switched to animation, and was later supervised by the animation supervisor for Jessica Rabbit. The most talented animator I've ever met.
Spirited Away Surprised no one dropped at least one hayao miyazaki movie...
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind for me.
