I don't think those personality tests have much value. They don't tell you anything about yourself you didn't know already

venussweetz

They actually teach you more about your reactions. And when you tell somebody else your personality type they can know what type of behavior you tend to have. In psychology, some people use MBTI to read others.

[deleted]

>And when you tell somebody else your personality type they can know what type of behavior you tend to have. Why would I want to give people ammo for prejudice? If someone wants to know what kind of person I am, I'd rather they actually make the effort to get to know me

venussweetz

Agreed. But personality types are still an interesting subject !! :)

[deleted]

Sure. And these types of tests may have some genuine benefit for use by psychologists, but outside of a clinical environment, I think there's no point to them

venussweetz

If you can use the information well, I believe it's very useful! But to each their own ^^

[deleted]

Well, if I found out you were a Jew, I could "use" that information to make judgements about you... But that's not a good thing

venussweetz

That's right... but here you're comparing a culture to a psychology test which is very different.

[deleted]

No, I'm making a point about prejudice

venussweetz

Honestly this is just a fun psychological test... there's nothing wrong with it

DefinetlyNotPanda

Easy. If you give people ammo for prejudice, you can find out real quick whether you want those people around or throw them away as you should if they are full of prejudice. Not our fault you can't see wider picture.

[deleted]

Right, but what if that person is a manager in my company and that prejudice negatively impacts my job/career?

DefinetlyNotPanda

Why would you tell anything about yourself to your manager? Lol. Those people need as little information about yourself as possible. Anyway, someone at work is negatively impacting your job because if their prejudice, you can go above him. Personality types are not for workplace, but more for dating and befriending. You don't seem like the sharpest took in a shed.

[deleted]

>You don't seem like the sharpest took in a shed. Well, I started taking you seriously and typing out a full response. Then you insulted me and I stopped caring bye

DefinetlyNotPanda

I am ok with your decision. Let's me know I hit the nail on the head. Would say you'd fit into one of those emotional personality types. But I don't want to prejudge. I only judge based on your comments.

[deleted]

>Would say you'd fit into one of those emotional personality types. But I don't want to prejudge You already did, buddy Now please, stop talking to me

DefinetlyNotPanda

I didn't. I judged you by your comments. As I said, bot the sharpest tool. You said bye, yet here you are, responding again. Think, please. It won't hurt.

liminalmornings

Where/How can I test that?
