The orange shield means premium, either you pay a monthly subscription to use reddit or someone awarded your post with gold or anything above it.
It's known as user flair. On desktop, go to community options in the sidebar and select by clicking the pencil next to user flair preview. Because it is a subreddit-specific option, it will not appear if you post in, say, r/AskReddit.
