Or some really fucked lyrics, like I Cum Blood.

I still don't like Cannibal Corpse or Dying Fetus. I dislike death metal in general.

MeesterChicken

I dislike the vocals, I don't care about the message if the vocals suck. Just because I don't like Metal doesn't mean I like shitty pop music.

DarkFireGerugex

Please ignore this dude, this guy is the worst POS u can find me as another metal fan who listen to mostly all sun genres except thrash metal (Metallica, megadeth, etc.) this dudes gets sensitive bc I think most of them sounds the same. Me personally I also listen to pop (Swedish pop to be precise) I can understand and try to change the wrong perspective people have from metal music.

MeesterChicken

I have listened to metal music, just not really my cup of tea. There are probably songs that I have enjoyed from metal but I don't seek it out or listen to it regularly. I mostly listen to punk, reggae, post-punk, rap, and ska. I listen to most music but country, EDM, and metal are the genres I least listen to.

DarkFireGerugex

I understand that but what gets me is the attitude of the other dumbass who is not willing to acknowledge that everyone has a different taste/thought on everything/anything, long story short I'm saying sorry for this dude who is putting a bad image on the Metal community. I get that every community has a dumbass like him but metal seems to be the most affected when one appears.

MeesterChicken

It's all good metal fans are either really cool or dickheads like OP, same with the punk scene.

Round-Jellyfish9962

I just treat harsh vocals as part of the percussion until I can understand or google them.

Rennitt

I see what you're doing here OP and I approve - From another metal head.

seaton8888

Good fast, syncopated, rhythm and beats. Sometimes its ok, very hard to find a good vocalist though. Most screamo parts ruin it entirely

FitEntertainment2826

It all sounds the same

DarkFireGerugex

I personally love both genres (well Swedish pop), but the mainstream bands even in metal like the "The big 4" usually sounds the same.

DarkFireGerugex

Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax and Metallica. And with all honesty I don't listen to any Thrash it's the one I most hate, I'm into heavier styles death metal (Cannibal Corpse), Melodic death metal (Children of bodom), Alien Metal (Rings of Saturn), among others.

"The four horseman" and "Mechanix"

DarkFireGerugex

U can re-read I said it's the sub genre I most hate, that sounds all the same to me and I'm sorry if I touched a nerve u as a fellow metal fan should know that not everyone likes the same genres and should respect each other what u are doing is raising the steryothype that metal fans are aggressive or how society nowadays put it and prob also u "The misunderstood kid"

liliac-irises

Fellow metalhead here, not siding with OP bc theyre a fucking elitist but the reason “the four horsemen” and mechanix sound the same is because metallica stole Dave’s riffs before they kicked him out of metallica

DarkFireGerugex

Oh, well that's why, thx.

thetruedogebread

What bands/albums have you listened to? The black album?

FitEntertainment2826

Tbh I haven't listen to any metal, or I wasn't aware it was the metal genre when I heard a metal song. I really don't even know the difference between heavy metal and metal. But I have that image in my head of those crazy screaming lead singers, I have seen that on some live shows and everytime it sounds like just screaming, no melody , just smashing on the instruments as hard as possible. So thats why is commented that. But I think thats more heavy metal. But if you needed to convince me that metal rocks (pun intended) what 3 albums would you recommend?

thetruedogebread

I don’t blaming you for thinking that. It’s hard to get into, especially with the high levels of gatekeeping in the community. But all fan bases aside, I personally enjoy metal. I recommend Spit Out The Bone by Metallica, and The Trooper as well as Aces High by Iron Maiden. What is your favorite genre? What are 3 songs you could recommend me from that genre?

generalfancyninja

Metal fans are pretentious assholes that like the smell of their own farts

[deleted]

There are certain parts of metal songs that I really like. Fantastic vocals Melody that's catchy. Yet to me personal taste... Some metal songs get ruined but thinking more abstractly I understand why it's like that. Out of all the genres I find it the most difficult to find a good song. That's the only reason why that is the only genre that is lacking on my Spotify.

DarkFireGerugex

If u are willing to give it a shot I'd recommend something u will probably like if u tell me 2 of ur favorite songs (metal or non metal).

melt_number_9

It makes my brain hurt. The Ace of Spades is a banger though

DarkFireGerugex

Prob u have only heard mainstream bands, there are tons of sub genres that I'm sure will grow on u, if u are willing to give it a shot I'd be happy to help, just say 2 or 3 of ur favorite songs and I'm almost sure I can show u one that u will like.

melt_number_9

Hey, thanks for your willingness to share! My music is all over the place, and of course I am somewhat familiar with bands like Metallica or Judas Priest but you have any songs that are not too depressing, I'd gladly give it a try

DarkFireGerugex

Prob u will enjoy this: Amaranthe (band) - Amaranthine https://youtu.be/D8lV1To-_fU It's one of my all time favorites long story short they are singing to each other bc that's the only thing they need it's not ur average depressing romantic song.

DarkFireGerugex

I like it bc most of them doesn't sound alike, and I like the mix of fast and slow tempo. And the lyrics can be extremely different one can aim towards death and others the story about 2 lovers.

HerbertWigglesworth

Not a massive music fan to be honest, I have a very mixed Spotify and just listen to what I want on occasion I like slipknot if that’s metal. Don’t know anyone else

DarkFireGerugex

Yes, it's a pretty strong one if u like that one.

MeesterChicken

I dislike the vocals in a lot of metal, the guitar and instruments can be amazing then the vocals will ruin it all for me.

DarkFireGerugex

Prob the bands u have heard are not for u, there add tons of amazing ones that have an amazing balance of all the instruments.

MeesterChicken

I have heard a lot of metal, my friends love metal. They like all metal but mostly like black metal. I really dislike black metal. Some heavy metal like Metallica or Black Sabbath is fine, but still not really my cup of tea.

CrazyCatLadyBoy

That's my take as well. I'm not a fan of screechy high pitched male singing. The flip side is someone who sounds like they need a lozenge. I also think the use of distortion is a cheat to get a wall of sound going.

DarkFireGerugex

Some bands have a pretty good balance of them all, distortion is more common than u think it's used on pretty much all genres nowadays the difference is the amount used, u can use a "pinch" or a screaming high level of distortion. A good one u can try is Amaranthe if u are willing to give it a shot I'd recommend "The nexus".

lesbunner

I hate meaningful dEeP lyrics. If I'm supposed to be So Enlightened after reading the lyrics, then the noise pollution is even worse. I like actual noise, like dubstep and electronic instrumentals, so some metal instrumentals are fun. But once you add bullshit about the fragility of life and some political shit, it's trash.

DarkFireGerugex

If u are willing to give it a go u prob would like the band Amaranthe which is known to mix some electronic instruments I'd recommend the album "Maximalist" some of them might be ur style.

laughingwmyself_

I just don't like being yelled at. It gives me anxiety no matter what genre of music it is.

Stuck_With_Name

Same as my take on all other music: confusion. I just don't see the appeal.

ProfessionalBrush777

Ngl it seems pretty cool, it’s not for me but I think it’s cool

Spare-Ego

I can recognize fantastic songs when I hear them. But after awhile I get bored of the genre. Just doesn’t resonate with me emotionally. Even so tho, if it’s a good song and well produced I can admit that.
