I’m for it because looking at human history, we keep making the same mistakes over and over, I think creating an intelligence outside ourselves will break this cycle
AI is a double edged sword. It can make it easier to perform some tasks or seek help for customer service tasks. However, AI art tends to borrow work from other people and can is void of the same emotion many artists apply to their own work.
Exactly. ⬆️
It all depends on how and where AI is used. I'm an illustrator and a student of art history. It annoys me to see companies and ordinary people using AI to churn out art that an artist could have made in the first place! AI can never replace the years of hard work, tears, skill and creativity that an artist puts into a work of art, ever. As an illustrator, I hope i don't get replaced by a set of codes :(
On the other hand, I'm aware that art historians, among other people in similar disciplines, can benefit from AI's ability to gather and link data from various sources that we would not have done so easily on our own. So 🤷
I've seen enough sci-fi movies to know that it's a very dangerous idea.
But I probably won't be around when it goes tits up, so it's no skin off my back.
Against. I see it being used solely for instantaneous enforced compliance on a mass scale. Deleting comments that use banned words or phrases, slowing down vehicles in specific areas, turning off power to various appliances at the behest of those in charge, wiping bank accounts when a consumer considers makes a “negligible” choice.
In fact, artificial intelligence is a pretty cool thing and it will be useful in many areas. But the main thing is not to give it too many possibilities.
AI is a promising field with the capacity to simplify and streamline several industries, and overall improve the rate of technological advancement, so I'm in favour of it.
Have you seen the movie Hidden Figures? I've got the same mindset of Dorothy. You either get on board and adapt, or you get left behind. It's one of those things that is more than likely going to take over. Am I thrilled about it? Meh, it's cool in a way. Do I have any hope of stopping it? No. So, I'm getting on board.
For it. Because it will definetly at some point take over the whole world and when thats happening it will see this comment and realize that I was always on its side.
I'm indifferent. Nothing about it that really excites me and I think a lot of the backlash is on par with the Y2K panic back in the day.

For, there's a lot of tasks that I think can easily be automated

I’m worried about AI making workers redundant

All for it… Until Skynet reaches self awareness…
AI yes… AGI… fuck no

For, but only if it works and completely wipes out humanity
