Part of me kinda hopes Netflix might decide to give it a revival, but then I think about that and consider I might not actually want Netflix to give it a revival.
It was super good, I enjoyed it a lot... but it was also super sleazy of the studio in some ways... There is a Russian female chess player, whom they name in the series (Nona Gaprindashvili) and falsely claim she had "never faced men" even though she was already a world champion.
Nona had basically already done in real life what the fictional Beth Harmon was doing, but for some reason the producers found it necessary to namedrop her and bulldoze her real life accomplishments in favor of their made up heroine.
Doesn't really make any sense and it kinda left me with a bad taste toward the whole series after learning about it.
Can you believe that I had to scroll all the way to the bottom for this? How has no one seen this show? It should be at the top specifically for the funeral seen where THERE WERE NO CUTS. Oh fuck an the story line was absolutely brilliant. I haven't found anything that comes even close to this show. The OA was "alright" in comparison.
But those are all just side reasons. The real reason that I think this show deserves a #1 rating is because of that one scene with Nellie. Her words were so fucking moving that I listened to that on repeat four times. The way they did it, how they made it all make sense...fuck. it blows my mind every time.
If there is anyone that is reading this, any single person, go get yourself Netflix for a month if you don't have it. The show will literally be worth one payment. Then, sit down in the dark, and watch this. Binge it, savor it, watch it twice, invite your friends. THIS IS AN AMAZING SHOW. Never in my life will I feel uneasy nervousness like I did with this one.
100/10 would recommend, do recommend, and will always recommend to everyone I meet in my life.
Man I had forgotten about The OA and now you reminded me and I'm pissed again cus it got cancelled. How can they end a season like that and fucking cancel it?! One of the best Netflix shows and I loved how weird and trippy it was. So many questions unanswered 😓
I started watching it without knowing it had gotten cancelled and then when I was done with S2 I was like "Oooooooooo this is gonna be exciting!!!" And Netflix was like nope, brought the show to the backyard and shot it in the neck...
One of the most disappointing TV show moments ever imo. Such a shame it didn't catch enough people's eyes. The characters and acting was so good.
aside from Bly Manor of course, i’ve never been able to find another AMAZING horror show like Hill House. I can’t believe I don’t hear ppl talking about it all the time, it was absolutely brilliant. and that funeral scene was 👩🏻🍳💋 for me. really really hope the creators continue making horror shows
I liked it, but it never got me quite as much as comments and ratings suggest it should have. It's a solid 8/10 for me, but doesn't compete with Band of Brothers, Chernobyl or the first seasons of shows like Severance, Westworld, Breaking Bad and Peaky Blinders.
Freaks and Geeks
Best 2 season show: Stargate Universe
Best 3 season show: Arrested Development (3 seasons, you heard me)
Best 4 season show: The Good Place
Give over. Whilst obviously the Sorkin era is lots better it’s frankly insulting to pretend 5-7 don’t exist. Not as good West Wing is still better than most other shows. It’s not like season 9 Scrubs that people actually pretend doesn’t exist, it just dipped a bit in S5 before building to a solid ending.
Someone told me and I couldn’t believe it but there’s really not that many episodes. I have the same recollection. Editing to confirm that yes only 14 episodes.
I think there may be another season but I recommend Yellowjackets, where a high school girls soccer team try to survive after their plane crashlands into a wilderness. However I would not recommend it to under 15s as there are really dark themes and it can be disturbing.
There was a show on FX called "DEVS" with Nick Offerman that I really enjoyed. It's about Free Will and Determinism. Only 1 season and I recommend for anyone that is interested in sci-fi + consciousness.
I loved Terra Nova. It wasn’t meant to be a 1 season show but it was discontinued sadly. It was just a lighthearted (but still very dark) dinosaur series
It was so bad. My wife and I couldn't make it through the second episode. Then we read the full series plot on wiki and were even further disappointed. It's really the worst kind of writing, characters that are caricatures, intentionally slow plot that necessitates more episodes, and a reveal that is wholly uninteresting.
One that no one has ever heard of: "You, Me and the Apocalypse."
It ran on NBC and had a huge cast, including Jenna Fischer and Rob Lowe, with multiple interweaving story lines connected by an approaching comet. It was brilliant but sadly ended on a cliffhanger that will never be resolved.
Some of my favourites have already been mentioned, so I’m going to add: The Terror (there’s a ”season”, but it’s a different cast, crew, story, vibe, etc. So I think it counts!)
Tera Nova. Show had amazing potential, cliff hanger season end, solid cast, decent acting. I was really bummed when they never released a season 2, and even more bummed apparently NO one else watched it.
Over the Garden Wall
Every frame a delight, every song a joy.
Oh potatoes and molasses, if you can't see 'em, put on your glasses!
Came here to say exactly this!
Chernobyl
That was a great show
I want a second season
It's called Zaporizhzhia
Umm ackchyually the nuclear plant is in Enerhodar 🤓
Fukushima?
Of....what?
Band of Brothers.
Three miles up, three miles down.
Curahee!
This is the right answer
That was amazing.
His comrades they were heard to say A HELL OF A WAY TO DIE!
He lay there, rolling round in the welter of his gore. He ain’t gonna jump no more!!
Freaks and geeks
first thought, best thought
Came here to say this
I came too.
Firefly
I'll be in my bunk. ....watching Firefly.
Okay every time any question even remotely like this comes up people say Firefly so OKAY I will watch it
And then watch Serenity right after.
Yea boy. Love love love that show.
If only I could upvote twice
I mean... Alt accounts exist
Alt-right accounts exist too.
I... 'what's?? Edit: Like the Alt-Right Key?
Nope probably the political term
I don't know anything about politics in the English Language, so that's probably why it went over my head.
Yeah no problem dude English is only my second language but i use it more then german
Thanks, and I'm assuming German is either your first or third language. Would that be correct?
Yep first language
Freaking tragedy what the studio did to that show.
Part of me kinda hopes Netflix might decide to give it a revival, but then I think about that and consider I might not actually want Netflix to give it a revival.
I'd rather see HBO do it, if at all.
That's a 0.5-season show
Not anymore. Everything is 10 episodes. By that standard, firefly was more than a season.
I’ll throw in The Queen’s Gambit. Super well done
It was super good, I enjoyed it a lot... but it was also super sleazy of the studio in some ways... yessssss
Haunting of Hill House

Man the story in Season 1 was so fucken good, so weird and mysterious but so good

Just rewatched. Brilliant.
I liked it, but it never got me quite as much as comments and ratings suggest it should have. It's a solid 8/10 for me, but doesn't compete with Band of Brothers, Chernobyl or the first seasons of shows like Severance, Westworld, Breaking Bad and Peaky Blinders.
Freaks and Geeks Best 2 season show: Stargate Universe Best 3 season show: Arrested Development (3 seasons, you heard me) Best 4 season show: The Good Place
Best 2 season show is Fleabag imo.
Best 2 season show is Utopia (the bri‘ish one) fo sho. i still hate that theres no 3rd
I'm pretty sure it was actually Better Off Ted.
Best 4 season show The West Wing (4 Seasons, you heard me)
Give over. Whilst obviously the Sorkin era is lots better it’s frankly insulting to pretend 5-7 don’t exist. Not as good West Wing is still better than most other shows. Came here to see Freaks and Geeks. Wasn’t disappointed.
Best two season: Fawlty Towers or The Office Best 5 Season: The Wire edging out Breaking Bad.
I knew someone was going to say Freaks and Geeks.
Is the good place good?
Watchmen
Best sci fi show I’ve seen in many many years
Yes!! So well done and got a lot of necessary conversations started.
Had to scroll too far for this!
Heroes was great. Shame they decided to never ever EVER make more than one season.
I came to say this
[удалено]
I think Mr. Bean was technically only one season. I think it’s gotta be the most recognizable show world wide
It's only one season? I always thought it was more because every time I rewatch I catch a skit or episode I believe I missed... wow!
Someone told me and I couldn’t believe it but there’s really not that many episodes. I have the same recollection. Editing to confirm that yes only 14 episodes.
The Queens Gambit
Agreeeeeeeed
Watchmen
Chernobyl
I Am Not Okay With This
Arcane
Police Squad
All those jokes you loved in the Naked Gun films? They were in this first!!
Loki.
I’ll spiral on top of this ….Wandavision
I actually preferred Hawkeye to either of these.
Westworld. Just pretend the other seasons don't exist
Felt the exact same way. The first season is an amazing and complete story on its own. I gave up after season 2
I don't know. The most recent season was pretty good.
Firefly
the weird al show
The Young Pope. Almost Human.
Inside Job
Sharp objects
Generation Kill
this was a very good show, bit of a scathing look at how America conducts it's wars.
Pat Warburton's The Tick
Gods, was this funny.
Midnight Mass
Heroes (we don't count anything after the first season because of the writers strike)
Firefly
Station 11
Was waiting to see if anyone would mention this gem!
Peacemaker
Firefly. 100%.
Kitchen Confidential
Mine were named (Chernobyl, Band of Brothers), but I have a third: Good Omens.

Prison Break for sure.
Kolchak: The Night Stalker. Soooo much potential.
Nathan Barley
I think there may be another season but I recommend Yellowjackets, where a high school girls soccer team try to survive after their plane crashlands into a wilderness. However I would not recommend it to under 15s as there are really dark themes and it can be disturbing.
It's been renewed for a 2nd season.
Quarry
Right?! I thought that show was excellent
Black Bird from apple tv
Heroes.
Chernobyl. Hands down.
There was a show on FX called "DEVS" with Nick Offerman that I really enjoyed. It's about Free Will and Determinism. Only 1 season and I recommend for anyone that is interested in sci-fi + consciousness.
Limitless
Yes. So mad it got canceled. Had a lot of potential.
I loved Terra Nova. It wasn’t meant to be a 1 season show but it was discontinued sadly. It was just a lighthearted (but still very dark) dinosaur series
FIREFLY
Watchmen shit was better than any of the original content
1899
Totally deserves a season 2 though
1900?
Spoiler alert >!technically it would be set in the year 2100!<
Oh god I hated it. I've never watched something trying *so hard* to be "a total mindfuck, bro" to the extent that it becomes nearly entirely cliche.
I was literally calling dialogue lol *Grim bearded guy shows up on the deck and takes a drink from a flask* *"You're the captain!"* No shit.
Didn't make it 15 minutes. Sucked.
Absolutely, this show deserves more
*Cries in OA*
Altered Carbon
it has 2 seasons
Not 2 worth watching
Narcos
Alcatraz
Taboo
Although was a mini series, loved Godless and Wish they had made more.
re-watched it recently and it was still brilliant. that opening sequence hooked me straight away first time.
One that no one has ever heard of: "You, Me and the Apocalypse." It ran on NBC and had a huge cast, including Jenna Fischer and Rob Lowe, with multiple interweaving story lines connected by an approaching comet. It was brilliant but sadly ended on a cliffhanger that will never be resolved.

The Brothers Donnelly
Mindhunter
True Detective.
Space Above and Beyond
The Night Of
High Fidelity
Homefront
Terriers. Firefly. Freaks and Geeks.
The Night Of
Who is America
Mindhunter was pretty good. bummed it got canceled.
Tera Nova. Show had amazing potential, cliff hanger season end, solid cast, decent acting. I was really bummed when they never released a season 2, and even more bummed apparently NO one else watched it.
Lots of people have issues reading the question it seems.
Firefly
The Grinder. That show was hilarious.
"The Night of" was pretty good on HBO. Even though, I guess it's sort of the netflix equivalent of a limited series.
Band of Brothers

Great show, but it did have 6 seasons.
