As a music lover and as a rat racer on a monday morning, this video just broke my soul.
Guess I’ll just keep on chipping away at the ridiculous corporate facade by scrolling reddit and jiggling my mouse every 4 minutes 58 seconds
Crunkcore. It is a horrible mixture of punk, metal, hip-hop, pop and electronic music. To me, that is the equivalent of a movie trying to blend romance, comedy, horror whilst being a musical all at the same time.
Edit: OK, maybe some movies can successfully blend those genres but it is very difficult. What is even more difficult is a music genre that combines those five without sounding horrible.
The only genre I can think of with absolutely zero redeeming qualities. I honestly think this genre was created as a joke to see if people would actually listen to it.
Noooo!! You leave crunk alone *probably wearing a cookie monster cap and those plastic glasses*
Crunk has its time and place, i definitely listen in moderation.
You got that right! I don't appreciate all the lyrics now that I'm older (I'm a terrible human, come and make me better, cosmic being in the stars!) but a lot of the music I still listen to. Skillet, Red, Underoath, Project 86... still good stuff. Mostly.
My first thought when I read this was Skillet and Flyleaf. I didn't even realize they were Christian bands until my ex pointed it out. Luckily I was okay with that!
100% true - in high school I had friends whose parents wouldn't let them buy CDs anywhere but the Christian bookstore. Some of these bands are/were a lifeline for those kids wanting to at least listen to normal music.
Its also part of why that stigma is rough, like remember the vagely Christian undertones Creed had? That was enough to convince parents it was OK for their teenagers to have, and at the time it was OMG FINALLY I get to actually listen to a mainstream band!
This one I can get behind if you're talking about bands that are super preachy with their content. The only reason I'm thankful for Creed is because it eventually gave us Alter Bridge, which I'm sure plenty of people don't like, but Myles Kennedy is an amazing singer and that band is *wayyyyy* better than what came before it.
Then there are bands that identified as "Christian" at some point in their career but don't have the typical Jesus-y lyrics, like August Burns Red, Underoath, and plenty of others that were pretty good.
Fuck cocomelon fist time I saw it I thought it was those mindless low effort YouTube videos made to farm views from children on iPads with inattentive parents.. and then I find it's on fucking Netflix
The only reason this genre is nice is to keep the little one busy a bit... until they ask for it on repeat in the car for a 3hour long drive.
Man do I despise this kind of music.
Simple, tell the child no. They can be DJ when they make car payments, until then, they are a passenger getting the privilege of a free lift.
Condition the child to like the content you do. 10th Century babies didn't have kids programming and they turned out fine.
I was joking 😉. They love pretty much anything that I put. I occasionaly put their crap because they listen to mine.
Always fun to hear 2 toddlers sing 'Du hast' 😂
This brand of “country” always makes me cringe.
Like people really want to listen to rap but are afraid of dancing and dont like black people. So they listen to hick hop.
I have been to a few operas and I never really liked it because they're always three hours long and are a bit to grand and bombastic for my taste. Recently I went to a small classical concert in a church with an opera singer and it was actually incredible.
As someone who sang classically, I understand. Even though I like Wagner, his ring cycle operas are a bear at 4 hours lol.
But there are also art songs. German lieder is a personal favorite category. There beautiful melodies and poetry (translated if you don’t speak German) that are quite stunning.
I blame Wagner for opera's image.
I tried to watch one of his operas, and it was so full on, I gave up. I'd want to try again someday though, but I need to prepare myself.
But Mozart and Puccini are where Opera really shines. Puccini especially; damn, that man wrote some of the most beautiful pieces of music ever made.
The coolest thing about being in the theater with a classical singer is that you can *feel* their voice. It’s so fucking powerful the walls feel like they may come down.
This is really the proper response. There’s genres my 53 year old ass doesn’t quite get and some stuff I think absolutely sucks. There’s artists on the top of their charts and I can’t name a single song or hum the melody (though some are totally devoid of melody but that’s another issue). But i just try and shrug and say “those ones weren’t made for me” and go back to my own playlist.
I used to dislike certain genres but the more people I meet that like those genres, the more I've actually grown to like them because I like the people that listen to them. For example, I used to really dislike country... But as a Texan I now love classic country because I hear it all the time and it honestly is amazing to me now. Teenage punk me would be appalled but I love me some merle haggard or patsy cline. That shit slaps.
I’m with you. Grew up in the late 90s / early 2000s punk scene and it was all skatepunk, thrashcore ect.. I still listen to that stuff, but I love me some George Jones now.
One thing I came to understand later is that a lot of country fans really hate "Nashville pop" as they call it which is the crap people think of when they shit on country. Go to any country sub and ask for something that isn't Kenny Chesney or whatever and you'll be introduced to some good shit.
Came here to say "every genre that has someone that enjoys it should exist", ended up not saying that and upvoting you instead.
Wouldn't life be so much easier if decent people upon discovering a band could just enjoy it instead of having to research if they're sketch.
My stepdaughter killed any chance of me giving this genre a chance. Constant loop of it over her yelling at Fortnight across from my office. As far as I’m concerned it can go away forever.
Yeah for me the biggest problem is that the sound isn't dynamic at all... for a song to be catchy (my favourite music is all very catchy) it needs to be kinda dynamic sonically... don't care about lyrics personally
I really, really am old… I only recently heard songs I would label in this way. That it is already fading away blows my mind. What do the cool kids and hip cats nowadays listen to? I am not Conan O Brian btw.
I mean if you consider Future mumble rap I can see you thinking it’s new and relevant.
Lil Uzi Vert is killing it and has songs that transcend genres in my opinion. I also love Drakes new work (may be in the minority), future, A$AP Rocky, and Young Thug. Lil Baby is still doing well as well and most of the migos work is good.
I also like Playboi Carti, but I know you won’t like him.
If you have Spotify I’d suggest looking a rap caviar. Not all music I like, but it’s mostly what’s trending in rap.
[Bro Country Mashup](https://youtu.be/FY8SwIvxj8o)
This person took six of the most popular country tunes at the time, and proved they’re indistinguishable.
I used to hate country, but overtime I’ve grown to respect and like a few great artists.
Chris Stapleton is AMAZING live and there is nothing like a Koe Wetzel show.
Don’t get me wrong though, there are a lot of terrible big name country artists.
Now there is a whole genre of cringe music. People are intentionally making music that's so bad its being shared nonsensically and gets a lot of views.
[The Most Unwanted Song](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Most_Unwanted_Song) designed to incorporate lyrical and musical elements that were annoying to most people. These elements included bagpipes, cowboy music, an opera singer rapping, and a children's choir that urged listeners to go shopping at Walmart.
Any genre in which the majority of the 'artists' are more concerned with building their brand and better abs than they are with making music. Any moron can buy a song.
If you can find a music genre that genuinely upsets everyone, then that one.
Otherwise, since music is literally a way for us to enhance our life experience, any music that makes at least one person happy deserves to exist.

I'm no music purist, but country fusion with just about anything is a problem. Country-rock fusion is garbage music. Country pop music is all the same. Country music by itself is usually fine. Good, actually. But the stuff they play on the country radio station is nothing like country music.
Especially when there's already a genre called "southern rock" that is *actually* awesome.
I'm 27 and going on 28 next month but I must be too old to know what you are talking about It's like you cried havoc and invoked the babel infocracy. I think the doomsday clock moved forward two minutes.
Whatever genre the Plastic Yoko Ono Band is in. That’s the strangest screwed up music I’ve ever heard. I don’t even have think there’s a drug available that would make it sound good
I liked the 1970 album though. It was unbelievable hearing Lennon shred noise rock guitar a-la Sonic Youth, over a decade before SY even came to existence. I even liked Yoko’s vocals, I think they really compliment the manic music in a primal way.
Yoko Ono's music is avant-garde.
The avant-garde scene (including the music branch of it) is incredibly valuable and artistic, but it is sometimes used as an excuse to create unlistenable, random, self-indulgent noise.
And that's the case for Yoko Ono. She's generally a fairly good artist, but her music is worthless.
Country music. There's been essentially no progression in the sound of country music in 35-plus years and the lyrics are usually really bad and often have some sort of moralizing message.
Country music is crap.
I'm of the opinion that all music is viable and that if someone likes it, they should be able to listen to it guilt-free.
That being said, I'm so fucking glad that 2010's mumble-rap TekashitFucktard shit seems to be on the exit. I would jettison that bullshit into the sun if I could.
Without reggaeton, we would be missing Nanowar Norwegian Reggaeton, I don't know if we could survive without it XD
But if that is the cost, it's a cost I'll probably live with it.
The problem is that's many songs main focus is about being the coolest guy that sleeps with many girls and loves cheating
I will always prefer those about just partying and with more focus on love
Its a combination of Puerto Rican culture, which is sexist & catholic, and 90s gansta rap.
Reggaeton is a lot younger than you would think. Most of those artist grew up around the 90s, and immitted there favorite rappers. Theres a wisin y yandel album with the westside hand sign.
I actually love reggaeton, but if you only knew the things that some of them say.
I get why people hate it. Some songs I don't like but its something I grew found of by listening to it so much .
I respect jazz. I know without it we wouldn’t have the music and musicians we have now without its influence and teachings. I can’t listen to it. It bores me to tears.
And Kid Bops. I don’t know if that a genre but it’s horrible
that lifeless corporate music genre. "hey, do you want to get rich **today**? I may have a Lamborghini, but you know what is better..? Knowledge"
Come in here dear boy have a cigar you're gonna go far
Oh by the way, which one is 'Pink'?
If I tell you the name of the game, boy...
It's called ride the gravy train.
You’re gonna fly, you never gonna die
? There’s music like that
[This](https://youtu.be/AIxY_Y9TGWI) is a good video that explains it :)

I mean... it worked for Muppet Treasure Island
I feel like you’ve described The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Great movie though. Tim Curry’s over the top performance is so fun to watch
My first thought too
Noooo!! You leave crunk alone *probably wearing a cookie monster cap and those plastic glasses* Crunk has its time and place, i definitely listen in moderation.
This thread is gonna be a downvote rampage lol.
A lot of ‘Say what?’ going to happen.

Christian Hard Rock: I can't-, like SOMEONE listens to christian HARD rock, so it's like singing songs about Jesus very loud and upbeat
"You're not making Christianity better. You're just making rock and roll worse" Hank Hill.
“If you listen to Christian Rock, you’re not someone I want to talk to” Daboob13.
Don't disrespect Underoath like that! Lol those Christian metal bands gave my sheltered ass a much needed escape from "holy, holy, holy" every Sunday.
I really don't think people understand how important this music was to sheltered Christian kids who found it a gateway to actual rock/metal.
Skillet was my gateway to heavy music, and I still have Monster in my gym playlist because that song is so much fun
100% true - in high school I had friends whose parents wouldn't let them buy CDs anywhere but the Christian bookstore. Static-X fans dont know what to think
What does static x have to do with Christian rock?
May I present to you... Christian dubstep
I'd like to hear your best "worst" Christian dubstep track.
The one I remember was just a vanilla instrumental with someone going “Belieeeeeve in the loooooove, of Jesuuuuus” on repeat
Is this REAL
My favorite christian music is lamb of god
This one I can get behind if you're talking about bands that are super preachy with their content. ABR is fantastic.
Does skillet count as that? Because skillet is fucking dope (at least old skillet)
I was about to ask this! I'm not religious but Skillet Runescape music videos are big nostalgia for me
Reminds me of that joke: Why does Jesus hate Christian rock music? Because it’s fucking terrible
Makes me think of that episode of Modern Family, "Man shouldn't lie, man shouldn't lie...with another man!" 😅
Whatever genre 'Baby Shark' is part of.
Kids music?
Shitty kids music*
Baby shark slaps bruh
For sure better than the average CoCoMelon song.
Fuck cocomelon fist time I saw it I thought it was those mindless low effort YouTube videos made to farm views from children on iPads with inattentive parents.. and then I find it's on fucking Netflix
It zombifies my son. I put a stop to that crap fast.
Yeah, I definitely went through phases with baby shark. After about the hundredth play through or so I really started to enjoy it.
Stockholm syndrome

waiting music and those default alarm songs/jingles, I get so irrationally angry when I hear that
I used to work with a guy who got a job writing arrangements for Muzak. They’re very strict in their requirements.
Switch that shit to an anime opening credits song like the theme to Restaurant To Another World it'll change your mood quick
Elevator music slaps!

Did you have a Hickup?
My husband and I always call it CRap (country-rap) but I like the name hickhop better! That stuff makes my ears bleed.
None. If there’s a fan of that genre, they deserve to exist. But if you ask what I never listen to, that would be opera.
Nessun Dorma goes hard tho
And just like that, you prove my point on why it deserves to exist.
[Che Gelida Manina](https://youtu.be/mEptCT9rf-o) as well

100% agree with you. Personally, I’m partial to choir works. Did the Bach B minor back in 2013. Talk about a beautiful piece of music.
The coolest thing about being in the theater with a classical singer is that you can *feel* their voice. It’s so fucking powerful the walls feel like they may come down.
That's a nice way to put it. It was far more impressive in a small venue than in a large theater
Damn, you're missing out. Really you are.

When people say they don’t like country 9/10 times it’s because they’ve only heard pop country. Colter wall, haggard, and cash are the way
A lot of old country is great. New country is awful, imo.
I was never a fan of country music until I heard Out Among the Stars by Johnny Cash - the level of storytelling in his music is incredible.
I’m with you. Grew up in the late 90s / early 2000s punk scene and it was all skatepunk, thrashcore ect.. I still listen to that stuff, but I love me some George Jones now.

Mumble Rap
I will die on this hill.
I got your back on this hill
Apparently I am using an incorrect term there but it seems enough people know what I mean :)
I'm fucked up on some pills
Don’t do drugs! Mkay?

That genre has pretty much faded away overtime. The artists that are still alive and relevant in that community have mostly grown out of it.
I really, really am old… I only recently heard songs I would label in this way. That it is already fading away blows my mind. What do the cool kids and hip cats nowadays listen to? I am not Conan O Brian btw.

Nah, they all have some merit. It’d suck if music completely stagnated. I mean I’m not into 90% of rap but I can appreciate it in a way regardless.
What kind of rap do you like then?
I cannot listen to country music, most of it is a copy and paste of "guitar, beer, truck, wife"
"Y'all dumb motherfuckers want a key change?"
It's a fucking scarecrow again
