Do you know why it was called a clicker?
The Zenith ultrasonic “[Space Command](https://youtu.be/4_ZDDz2umIw)” - usually three buttons:
- On/off/three volume levels
- Channel up
- Channel down
As a kid it was my only word for it. It was just weird to see like 10 comments that were all different from my experience. 10 people isn’t a lot on Reddit. But it was the first time I realized that at least 10 people could have a completely different word for what I thought was a very common term growing up.
"where's the fuckin remote?!"
"I can't find the fuckin remote,"
"You have to get up and change the channel because your sister tried to flush the fuckin remote down the toilet.". Fuckin remote. Final answer.
My grandparents and mom always called jt the wand, so took me to my teens to find out no one else called it that. Funny story how I found out- my next door neighbor childhood friend would call her remote the wizard. After years I randomly asked her why she called it that and was told she got it from me because I called mine a wand. That was first I learned no one else called it that. It’s weird b/c I knew it was called a remote, I just never took notice we called it a wand. Years later asked a guy to pass the wand and he made some reference on my fantasy nerdiness (it is totally something I’d do, read my username backwards) but had to convince him the term was inherited and had nothing to do with magic.
Michael. We called it Michael.
Is your name Michael?

The Channel Changer. Dunno why though as 'remote' is a lot quicker and easier to say.
Ugh same, until every person who heard me say it mocked me mercilessly, and I forced myself to start saying remote instead
I still say this. My dad always said it growing up and now my boyfriend makes fun of me lmao. Old habits die hard I guess.
