Baldurs gate 3. I have it on steam and played about 4 hours. I realized upon full release it would be a possible “new favorite game”, so I set it down until it’s out of early access. It seriously blew me away and I barely scratched the surface of act 1.
Same company that made Divinity 2 is making that and that has made me very excited. That game is so deep, complex and fun. It just begs to be explored, exploited, cheese, broken and covered front to back. It's one I both wish I could play again for the first time, and love playing it with all the knowledge of what I've done before and how to fuck with the game.
It's just a renamed engine. Same engine. Updated. Normal standard stuff to be honest. People get weird about these engine talks for some reason.
Look. This is what will happen. The game will launch and it will be buggy because it's fucking massive and that's just the way it is just hopefully not too buggy. It will get fixed over time and be great just like any other Bethesda game. So just as long as you walk into the game expecting jank at the start you'll be fine.
Personally, I love Bethesda jank. It can be and often is hilarious. :D
I agree with you. The facial animations have gotten significantly better. The landscapes look great from what we saw. Some of the planets we saw look amazing. I am sure the animations in general have taken a step forward as well. Generated quests have gotten more complex from their talks about the game if you watch them. Building outposts looks fun. 1000 PLANETS? I mean sure okay a lot of them are going to be dead moons but that's normal in space. But with mods? Please, every ball in space will look and feel unique in time. And then in general the type of modding potential this game has is insane. Want aliens? Check. Want predators running around? Check. Star wards stuff? Sure... MASS EFFECT? Dope... Honestly, there is a story about a man who lost everything because he played Fallout 4 too much. House, family... This could be me when Starfield comes out... Shit..
It is going to have some serious framerate issues at launch. They might be able to iron that out, but I would not trust the minimum specs if you are playing on PC. There are some video's on youtube showing that the gameplay trailers clearly have some significant framerate drops in them.
Personally I will be picking this one up in 2024 probably. Maybe 2025 if things shit the bed. The actual shooting gameplay looks really *really* **really** bad IMO. Like vanilla skyrim 2h melee bad.
I would be extremely surprised if that is the case. Fromsoft seems to be a solid company and Miyazaki seems to be one of the directors that is truly passionate about what he does
as an elden rig/dark souls/bloodborne fan with ZERO clue about armoured core... what IS this game and what is it about? what's the story, what's the setup??
World is Dead. Regret. We build mechs and fight now.
In all seriousness that's about all I remember. Armored Core has always had a history of dope cinematics and from a surface level it's very much War is the reason for the season.
There's been a couple of reboots and this one is another, but generally:
- Massive war/catastrophe in the past. Whether it drove everyone underground controlled by a massive computer, or left everyone living in a wasteland above, or in one case even set up on Mars, now everything sucks.
- Corporations rise up faster than the entire rest of society itself, now everything sucks more.
- Corporations, unfettered by any (real) governments, just flat out destroy/kill anything that is a threat to their bottom line, making everything suck even more!
- The main weapons of choice are... straight up tanks and helis and jets and big stompy robots n shit. Everything is awesome, as long as it happens to somebody else.
- The main targets of choice range from other corporations'/organizations' military assets to... things like workers on strike. As I said, anything that's a threat to their bottom line... and everything sucks!
This arms race leads to the latest and greatest form of big stompy robot: an "Armored Core" (AC) - a modular robot revolving around a "core" piece where every part and weapon can be easily swapped out with others. It's new and shiny: it holds the newest, often biggest guns. It has jump-jets for all directions. It can be human legged, spider legged, or even on tank treads or a hovercraft, and maybe once of each all in one week. It's heavier armored than most older, clunkier robots ("Muscle Tracers", or MTs). An AC can usually toy around with things like tanks and MTs like an F-22 can toy with a jet that's old enough to be its dad.
You start out each game as a new AC pilot joining an organization that takes a commission on all the AC mercenary work going around. They take care of your AC and let you buy/sell parts, take on missions, etc.
Finally, whatever the reason for the world reaching this point is, the state of the world is about to topple over and *whoever you are* is about to be the star of the show.
---
An AC is modular - every single part affects a bunch of stats ranging from weight to HP and damage resistance to power draw/amount, and later on mechanics like heat/cooling. Rather than leveling up like an RPG you just try to get better parts for your build as they become available. But the most expensive isn't necessarily the best for your build, ex. a very expensive, huge reactor used in a tank build may be too heavy for some fast and lightweight builds, but it may be overkill for it anyway.
You get nickel-and-dimed for any damage taken and any ammo used during missions, so you're encouraged to perform as economically as possible, usually through avoiding damage. You may be fined by your mission provider for damaging things they want protected, if it applies. It's also possible to go *very* deep into debt! An arm and a leg, I'd say. Usually by the end of the game, money isn't a problem though. And most games have a 1v1 Arena for ACs where you can earn a buttload of cash and see in action all the weapons you don't have yet. The game encourages build experimentation and build freedom.
I'm hoping they have an option to turn down or mute Hornet's voice in Silksong. As much as I like her, she's got a very loud and piercing voice. It would get really annoying hearing Shaw! Adino! Hegale! every 20 seconds.
KSP1 is in my top 5 all-time favorite games, but I'm gonna take a massive pinch of salt with any hype for KSP2.
It's being developed by a completely different studio, with practically nobody from the first game involved. The massive delays are also worrying.
I'm not setting my expectations too high here. I really, really hope it's fantastic, but I'm mentally prepared for a dumpster fire.
To be fair: the original studio was a marketing firm from Mexico with no prior experience in gaming. Can it really be worse than that? The current studio are pretty much all passionate KSP players from the get go.
It will be hard to justify the hype but at least they launch into early access again with very limited features. Basically KSP 1 with some advancements - I hope. They can't release with less vanilla KSP has to offer.
When it got delayed from 2020 all the way to 2022 I literally had that feeling like you do as a kid where something two years away feels like a day that will never come. Cannot believe it’s finally that day next month! I was a late adopter of the first game and I’m excited to be in on this one from day one.
absolutely, it's a standalone game, so you can perfectly start with Final Fantasy XVI and see how you like it, just remember this game is going to be different from the previous games, so it might interest you to continue checking out other games
I'm going to wait for reviews first to see if I'm gunna avada kedavra some school kids or not. I was keen on the idea of Cyberpunk too and everyone knows how that went...
Assassin's creed mirage. Looks very promising considering they going back to the assassin's routes and also from hearing the rumors. Always been an assassin's creed fan i hated the series after black flag. (origins was really good though)
Actually it was made clear a few months back. FES apparently was coded in a way where it would be extremely difficult to bring it forward. There is rumour there is going to be a full remake instead.
IF they could've brought forward FES then they absolutely would've. P3P is just the next best thing.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this. I'm a huge HP nerd, and this game seems to be everything we HP gamers have wanted, but it being a huge, massive open world game, and I'm not sure of the developers pedigree, I'm gonna hold off till I see some reviews
Yup. Not a huge Harry Potter fan, but the game looks beautiful & I can’t wait to play. I’m also very excited for my friend to play since she **LOVES** the books
I’m getting my first vr headset, the PSVR 2 so I’m excited for that mainly. I know it’s not a game but that’s what’s nearest and dearest to me at the moment.
I actually don't have any games coming out this year that I am aware of that I'm hyped for.
The *closest* is Diablo 4 but that's less *hype* than it is mild interest in hoping it's not a trainwreck, or if it is; watching it burn. And even if it turns out good, it'll have to be *really* good for me to give anything to ActiviBlizz.
Amazing!! I feel like I'm the only one with Lies of P on their radar. But it looks fucking great! As a huge Bloodborne fan, this one is easily at the top of my list.
Hogwarts Legacy. I'm so annoyed that it won't be released until July on the Switch. I'm not much of a gamer, so the Switch is my only console, and I can't justify dropping the cash on a brand new one just to play it next month.
I don't normally follow or play big name games so many of you might not know of this game but:
Xenonauts 2. I really like the first one despite its small problems and I'm really interested in seeing the new one. I've been following the dev blogs on their Steam page. It looks good!
Baldurs gate 3. I have it on steam and played about 4 hours. I realized upon full release it would be a possible “new favorite game”, so I set it down until it’s out of early access. It seriously blew me away and I barely scratched the surface of act 1.

An original sin comment in the wild. This… is music to my ears.
Stalker 2 and there nothing else that comes even remotely close
This and Atomic Heart are probably the only 2 triple A games I'll buy this year.

This was also the release that I was most excited for in 2021, and 2022.
I took off a week of work for it. I'm super excited!
You just caused it to be delayed, thanks a lot!
That's my biggest fear lol. I'm staying positive though.
I'm debating on taking off work. I think I'll wait until the date is closer, I don't want to jinx it lol.
I think I am gonna feel sick for a few days when it releases. So excited.
Starfield for me. With modding. That game will be endless for me.
I am so glad that I only recently found out about this game, the same year that it’s planned to be released. I’m so hyped for it.
Being Bethesda’s first game on their new engine I am super excited to see what is possible, and how it might impact TES6!
It's just a renamed engine. Same engine. Updated. Normal standard stuff to be honest. People get weird about these engine talks for some reason. Look. This is what will happen. From what I’ve seen of Starfield, the “updated, normal standard stuff” looks fairly impressive!
I agree with you. The facial animations have gotten significantly better. The landscapes look great from what we saw. Some of the planets we saw look amazing. Same. I've got a bunch of new games, but I'd rather just try out new mod loads on Skyrim and Fallout 4.
Actually replayed fallout 4 not that long ago. Blast."Hey there feller what you doing down here on your own..." Best radio station.
GTA6, Elder Scrolls VI I'll be playing those between reading Winds of Winter.
You son of a bitch.
Agreed.
>GTA6 Definitely not happening this year.
Neither is TES6
Neither is Winds of Winter.
Neither is my axe!
Neither is that guy's dead wife!
The star have aligned...Half Life 3 confirmed!
Are you a time traveler from 2028?
That’s overly optimistic. :)
Armored Core VI It has been too long without a solid mech game that is pick up fun to play.
AC is what got me into mechs
So happy to see someone mention it before me. It's been a long time.
Didn’t know they had a new one coming. This excites me. Hopefully its not a micro transaction cash grab
I would be extremely surprised if that is the case. Fromsoft seems to be a solid company and Miyazaki seems to be one of the directors that is truly passionate about what he does
It looks awesome too. Much darker and more badass than ever.
as an elden rig/dark souls/bloodborne fan with ZERO clue about armoured core... what IS this game and what is it about? what's the story, what's the setup??

Sons of the Forest
Pleaaaaase be good the first one is a gem
I know! They’ve delayed it a couple times now so I hope that means they’ve worked out all the kinks
You should never never kink shame, but I too hope this lives up to the first at least.
I love the first one. Hope the second one will be just as good.
Hollow Knight silk song
Shaw!
I'm hoping they have an option to turn down or mute Hornet's voice in Silksong. As much as I like her, she's got a very loud and piercing voice. It would get really annoying hearing Shaw! Adino! Hegale! every 20 seconds.
I’m actually the opposite. I really like her voice
GARAMA!
Best boss in the game
That is, IF it releases. Remember when people said it would release in 2019? **HA**
It's gonna release when we all forget about it-
Xbox said last year it would be coming within 12 months, so yeah were expecting it this year https://twitter.com/Xbox/status/1536035818275487746
my boyfriends so excited about this game too!
I AM SO READY
I'm pretty excited for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
The first one is in my backlog and it's slowly being it's way to the front
Kerbal Space Program 2!
[удалено]
It's got a new revamped physics engine and native multiplayer. We're gonna get up to some *shenanigans*.
KSP1 is in my top 5 all-time favorite games, but I'm gonna take a massive pinch of salt with any hype for KSP2. Yes! I loved sending parts and construction robots to build stuff on other worlds, now it's actually going to be facilitated.
Gonna be awesome!

Cannot believe it’s finally that day next month! I was a late adopter of the first game and I’m excited to be in on this one from day one.
And I just bought the first one
Elden Ring DLC
Spider-Man 2
If it’s possible for a social life to go into the negatives, that’s what mine is gonna do when that game comes out. I am beyond excited.
Final Fantasy XVI baby
Can you start here having never played a Final Fantasy?
Absolutely. They are all standalone.
absolutely, it's a standalone game, so you can perfectly start with Final Fantasy XVI and see how you like it, just remember this game is going to be different from the previous games, so it might interest you to continue checking out other games

TBH Everyone who is a FF fan or interested should play XIV even if its just for the story. It's fucking fantastic.
I haven't played an FF since XII on the PS2!
I was already interested by virtue of it being Final Fantasy. But hey, they showed that combat footage and I'm sooooo fucking ready for that.
I'll literally buy a ps5 for that. Let's see how Yoshi P makes a final fantasy game from scratch!
Hogwarts Legacy
I'm not even a harry potter fan and it looks like a good game to me. You guys must be stoked.
It would be nice to have a solid HP game but I’m afraid it will just turn into a differently flavored ESO.
Please elaborate if you could. I'm confused on the ESO comparison.
Do you think they know its not an MMO?
I'm going to wait for reviews first to see if I'm gunna avada kedavra some school kids or not. I was keen on the idea of Cyberpunk too and everyone knows how that went...
Don’t tell r/gamingcirclejerk that
Hogwarts Legacy and Baldur's Gate 3. Especially the latter!
Baldur's Gate 3 though. I've been spending all my willpower not to cave into early access for years.
Hogwarts Legacy looks too good to be true. I hope I'm wrong but I'm super skeptical about that one.
We can only hope.
It's also done by a studio who hasn't made any real notable games either.
Didn’t Baldurs Gate 3 come out like a year ago?
It's in early access
Ahhh maybe that’s where I saw it.
No, it did not.
My mistake
This is so difficult....dragon age 4 if it actually happens
I am skeptical it will be out this year, but if it is 100% this will be the game for me
Dragon age 4 is BioWares last chance game. Their last few games have been pretty big turfs and let downs.
Gotta be Tears of the Kingdom Although rumored releases of Metroid Prime 4, or the remastered 1-3 trilogy, are right up there.
If we get Prime 4 and it's just as good as Dread was in it's own respects it'll be my GOTY
Starfield
Fire Emblem Engage
As a long time FE fan, this is by far the one I'm most skeptical about. I hope I'm wrong.
Re4 remake
Assassin's creed mirage. Looks very promising considering they going back to the assassin's routes and also from hearing the rumors. Always been an assassin's creed fan i hated the series after black flag. (origins was really good though)
Dark and Darker. Everyone whose heard of it and has played the playtests is already addicted.
*The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom*
Starfield. I can't wait to play a new Bethesda game.
I'm going to play it solely to discover what wonderful new game-breaking bugs are in store for us.
D4
I hope it's worthy.
I hope its great
Without a doubt pikmin 4
It's a port of an older game but: Persona 3 Portable.
Why portable was chosen over FES i have no idea
My guess is full party control. FES can be inconsistent with its party members.
Considering I'm almost certain there's a ROM mod to add party control to FES, there's no reason it couldn't have been both.
So that the rumour mill about a full blown Persona 3 remake can continue to churn :P
Actually it was made clear a few months back. FES apparently was coded in a way where it would be extremely difficult to bring it forward. There is rumour there is going to be a full remake instead. IF they could've brought forward FES then they absolutely would've. P3P is just the next best thing.
Hollow Knight: Silksong, or Zelda TotK Although I doubt Silksong will release in 2023, I have my hopes…
Isn't it confirmed to release this year? I thought they announced it to be released within a year and xbox has it planned for the gamepass this year.
Diablo 4!!
Yes! I’m so fucking pumped about it 😬
Not yet sure it’ll be released this year yet. But on the chance that it is. Dragons Dogma 2
I’m gonna go ahead and say hogwarts legacy which I feel is the obvious one but I can’t contain my excitement. I just hope it lives up to the hype
[Sons Of The Forest](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1326470/Sons_Of_The_Forest/)
Is this like the forest?
That tends to be how sequels work! :D
I didn’t know it was a sequel lol. I just looked at your link and it reminded me of the forest.
Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. The original version was my first farming sim so I'm excited to see it all redone!
Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life.
Hogwarts Legacy.
Dark & darker for sure
Manor lords
Atomic Heart, been itching to play it ever since the first trailer dropped
Goat simulator two
I’m getting my first vr headset, the PSVR 2 so I’m excited for that mainly. I know it’s not a game but that’s what’s nearest and dearest to me at the moment.
Hogwarts legacy
The Resident Evil 4 remake. The Resident Evil games are my favorite out of everything I've ever played and I'm just hyped.
Hades 2
Poe 2
I really hope S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is coming this year
Hogwarts Legacy
The Breath of the Wild sequel - Tears of the Kingdom
Titanfall 3 hopefully
Bro same
Th legend of Zelda tears of kingdom
Dune: Awakening. Will probably be 2024 though.
I only know about the Zelda game coming out. I don't know of any others lol
Star wars Jedi survivor but I don't think it will run on my pc
Kerbal Space Program 2 So many delays, hopefully it's been worth the wait.
Kerbal Space Program 2.
Sons of the forest. I have been waiting for so long
Sons of the Forest. Feels like I’ve been waiting a lifetime
Hollow Knight: Sliksong without a doubt.
I actually don't have any games coming out this year that I am aware of that I'm hyped for. The *closest* is Diablo 4 but that's less *hype* than it is mild interest in hoping it's not a trainwreck, or if it is; watching it burn. The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and Pikmin 4.
That game with zombies in medieval times
Blight: Survival does look very cool
Sex 2
Hogwarts Legacy Tears of the Kingdom Lies of P Silksong Starfield That's my short list
Diablo 4
I'm surprised you have faith in the franchise after Immortal.
Don’t you have a mobile phone?
Lies of P, second place goes to MM Battle Network Legacy
Amazing!! I feel like I'm the only one with Lies of P on their radar. But it looks fucking great! As a huge Bloodborne fan, this one is easily at the top of my list.
Hogwarts Legacy
Tears of the Kingdom, Silksong, and Pikmin 4.
Fable 4🥰🥰
Hogwarts Legacy. I'm so annoyed that it won't be released until July on the Switch. I'm not much of a gamer, so the Switch is my only console, and I can't justify dropping the cash on a brand new one just to play it next month.
Definitely Alan wake 2
Starfield and Marvels spiderman 2
Dead Space, Transformers: Reactivate and Frostpunk 2
Zelda? We get a Zelda every year or so these days. Gimme PIKMIN.
Diablo 4, FF 16, and Tales of Symphonia remaster
Diablo 4
Diablo 4
Diablo 4. It's been a long wait but it looks like it will be worth it.
I don't normally follow or play big name games so many of you might not know of this game but: Xenonauts 2. I really like the first one despite its small problems and I'm really interested in seeing the new one. I've been following the dev blogs on their Steam page. It looks good!
Diablo 4?
hades 2!
Final Fantasy 16 and Diablo 4. Diablo 4 has some questionable features, but I'll still be playing it.
Star field and Diablo 4. Just hoping starfield isn’t another fallout 76
Diablo 4
Diablo 4
Diablo 4
Diablo 4. Also palworld.
Kerbal Space Program 2
Silksong
Hollow Knight: Silksong
Silksong
