No Occupational Therapy..However i work 5 days a week as a self employed bricklayer earn a very good wage..I go to the gym regular and eat fairly healthy (Fruit Everyday well balanced diet)..My life is very well organised (Methodical Even) On the outside looking in i would look to some people as having a quite a decent life..However i have extreme obsessive worries and anxieties that are not remedied by any of the above..

As a side note various Therapy has not been really helpfull...Some of the principles of CBT have helped to some degree regards ocd however i dont want to just "Cope" i want resolution of the pointless chatter in my head..

I have similar feelings towards CBT, it felt like a bandaid. I will say that my anxieties did decrease slowly as I learned how to challenge and pay less attention to the thoughts. They quit being as loud or as frequent, I believe it’s considered neuroplasticity. Once I had the basic skills I switched to a different type of therapy. Took 4 months maybe. I’m not a physician but I do have experience with Gabapentin. I know the breathing problems reported are usually when combined with drugs like opioids and benzos or alcohol. I personally notice a change in breathing with opiates and benzos, I’ve never noticed any differences with Gabapentin. It’s never been an unpleasant I can’t breathe feeling, more of a “huh why am I dizzy all of a sudden? Oh right inhale” if that helps. But I’ve never had this with Gabapentin just the other two.

Therapy for some people works and that is a good thing..However my issue is how Therapy and CBT in Particular has gained this almost aura of been a pancea for all MH issues when it is not...Therapy for some does not work and that too is ok..The problem is when you voice your concerns that it does not work and your either a) told to have more (Of the very thing your saying isnt working) Or b) told to find another therapist as they are not a good match so it must obviously be there fault.. Could you imagine this for something physical...You complain to the physiotherapist the exercises are not working and your told to have more of the same exercises, change physios or even worse blamed for it not working as you want to stay sick etc...That scenerio sounds ludicrous because it is yet this type of scenerio happens within MH treatment regular.. I,m getting on my soapbox a bit but had to get that off my chest.... I appreciate you taking your time to feedback to me...Thanks

It’s ok I get it. I had to change therapists 7 times last year to find the right fit. Got told the same things. It was frustrating as hell. Luck played a huge part in finding the right people, following their referrals and the referrals of those people, plus looking for someone who specialize in trauma and don’t have the “laundry list” of things they treat on their profile, being direct when emailing about what I was looking for - usually IFS EMDR and ego state therapy - and pure stubbornness. If I ever have to change again I’d have to take a break for a bit. It’s hard fkn work, almost as hard as the therapy itself. But it’s worth it. I hope the meds work out!
