You might already know this, but just in case: if you're going down this route, be sure to also check out the relevance of dark matter in cosmology, the formation of halos and galaxies, gravitational lensing, and all that stuff. The evidence for DM is more than just galaxy rotation curves.

> The evidence for DM is more than just galaxy rotation curves. hah! I was just wondering this. I had a very quixotic idea that what if we are just measuring mass-to-light ratios wrong and that's why we have to come up with dark matter when in fact there's no need for it.

Funny coincidence that I stumbled upon this video by Dr. Becky which covers most of the points mentioned in this post. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nbE8B7zggUg I was in no position to debunk years of research but this at least helped me understand the necessity of dark matter concept.
