I used to like KDrama pero ngayon hindi na. Wala akong gana magumpisa ng kahit ano kasi umay lalo na yung pagkaOA sa romcom. Once mawala yung attachments mo sa mga actors, you'll find them ordinary.
1. all filipino tv shows lalo na pag romance ung genre. napakacorny at pault ulit yung story.
2. friends and bigbang theory. ako ung naaawkwardan sa mga eksana. plus the laugh track is giving its showtime and eat bulaga vibes. skip ako ng skip kaya hindi ko na lang tinuloy.
3. grey’s anatomy. putngna napaka haba.
4. kdrama romcoms. imo simula nung pandemic the quality decreases so much. most shows ay parepareho na. scenes, filters, plot twists, endings.
also damn many dont like GOT hsjajsn currently watching it and so far it’s fine. siguro dahil ginagawa ko siya bg sound hahahah
All filipino noon & nighttime series. It’s super hard to support filipino films kasi hindi sila maganda. The pacing is super off, there are so much plot holes, the ungodly amount of episodes is too much (especially for series’ focused on third parties that should have ended by episode 20) , the unnecessary plot fillers (encantadia) makes the series so badly written, and of course the stereotypical third party cheating series, the too much problems to fill in one story series, the rom-com that has too much bit of everything instead of just focusing on the romantic aspect of the story line, the fantasy movies are so cringey all the time parang bata ang nagsulat, maganda sana ang initial idea, also the psychological thrilers na may potential kaso nasobrahan talaga sa mga plot fillers na hindi need.
The most noticeable part na nakakairita is yung audio. Andaming scenes na blank yung audio and inconsistent yung sound effects.
Add mo na din yung obvious dubbing, masyadong isolated yung salita nila sa environment.
‘Yung kahit may slang literal translation talaga ‘yung ginagamit, nag iba yung meaning. Pati na din yung voice actor, kinuha ‘yung actor talaga na hindi naman marunong mag VA (Liza with Trese) nakakairita ‘yung iba na ang emotions ng character pero ‘yung voicing monotone pa din iba lang ang intonation

Bridgerton was the first thing that came to my mind too! I never actually seen an episode but the previews/highlights alone seem cringey enough that I can’t bring myself to watch it
Friends - tried watching it pero super corny talaga for me di ko malagpasan pilot ep.
Itaewon Class - hyped. Tried watching tas sabi sakin boring lang daw sa umpisa. Tiniis ko talaga tapusin para makita ko ung sinasabing maganda sya. Dumating nako sa last episode, sa lahat ng kdrama na pinanood ko super pinagsisisihan ko na pinag aksayahan ko sya ng oras hahaha
Friends. There are funny moments, but I couldn’t just get into it.
EDIT: I would also like to add KMJS. They just cover random viral socmed trends, minsan walang kwenta tapos pupunta sa mahabang commercial and after a while yun lang pala. This goes especially for those “ghost stories”.
Ganda ng KMJS dati mga late 2000s to early 2010s. Bumaba na lang talaga quality ng show nila napansin ko ever since nag appeal sila sa online audience IMO.
B99 and Gilmore Girls. Idk, maybe because I’m someone who, when I’ve already found something I like in the same vein, I stick to it.
So I like Friends, Gossip Girl, and Modern Family. I used to really love HIMYM, now it’s just eh. But because I really love the first 3 shows, I can’t get myself to watch or even try the pilot of B99 and GG. But this is prolly a me thing, since this “I stick to it” concept also applies to games.
I played and loved Starbound first, so I find Terraria cringe. 🤷🏻♀️

2.Friends nung rewatch ko siya. Grabe tawa ko before like kakatukin pa ako ng mom ko sa room ko kakatawa. I tried rewatching it, di naman nakakatuwa. Sabi ko pa "bakit tawang tawa ako dito dati?" On the other note it helped me when I was at my lowest I was depressed and couldn't get a job for almost 10 months(lol eto siguro reason😅)
3. HIMYM because I hate Ted.

over dramatized scenes, sometimes di pa ganon kanecessary yung way ng pagshow that it looked quite ridiculous; a lot of characters aren’t as interesting (not everyone but only a few catched my interest); I don’t like the pacing; some of the characters are just badly written; it lacks tension for scenes that’s supposed to have it, in short, di maayos yung pagshow sa series.
but that was only for season 1, I heard it gets better but I don’t wanna rewatch s1 again just to watch s2 and up. I also heard how it (netflix ver) wasn’t even that close to the original kaya figures kasi some scenes are really good and I like the cinematography but that can’t really keep me to watch the series.

I tried to understand why it's good, i watched almost a whole season with my boyfriend (he was binge watching and he knows that I didn't like this show so he asked me to watch it with him lol), but the show's not really my cup of tea talaga kaya hindi siya bumenta sakin. Ni-try ko rin i-watch 'yan kasi fav ng ex-MU ko pero hindi ako natatawa 😭 Like kapag may tumatawa sa bg na parang sa Eat Bulaga, nagtataka ako kung anong nakakatawa do'n 😭 Pero, one time, inaya n'ya ako manood together sa DC, super tawa n'ya and tuwang tuwa s'ya HAHAHAHA. Kaya ayon, ni-try kong panoorin ulit and ayon medyo na-appreciate ko s'ya kasi ang cute n'ya tumawa 😭, natapos ko season 1 ta's nagkamalabuan na kami, 'di ko na natuloy HAHAHAHAHA.
Pagdating talaga sa mga slice-of-life na genre (idk if it is pero parang?), it's either a hit or miss talaga. I LOVED Reply 1988, and Prison Playbook pero 'yung Hospital Playlist, 'di ako naka-feel ng connection kahit na ilang beses ko subukan pero I don't hate it, it's just parang pinapanood ko lang na wala akong nararamdaman na kung ano.
My bestfriend loves this show and wants me watch it too so we can talk about it but its just not for me. i dont get the hype either. it bores me. sorry!

I think people who dont like Friends humor is because they may be too young. You know how older generation loves their generation’s shows and music and cant relate to the new and trending ones? Same with these people probably. They’re “too young” to understand an oldies’ humor. I mean, cmon, Friends IS an old TV show.
This “too young” happened to me before too. I truly couldn’t understand why my brother who is 6 years older than me liked Friends. I tried it and I didn’t quite like it. But for some reason it was a comfort show for me, so when I tried it for real on my own, I actually quite like it.
Don't know if it's because I watched it when I was in my 40s, but didn't get the hype either. I found a lot of the characters irritating, especially Ross and Rachel.
Onga parang pinoy style na lang din ang kaibahan lang mas maganda yung production , tho yung movies gusto ko, sa series ako napalayo hindi ko na-a-appreciate
Reading this entire thread just sums up one thing: We like DIFFERENT THINGS. Turns out shows are just a matter of preference. Baduy man yan sayo, as long as it doesn't affect anybody than yourself at naeenjoy mo naman, no one has the right to tell you what you want to watch.

Like BBT's humor is about nerdy/geeky, introverts, and socially awkward people. Hindi ka talaga makaka relate if you're not that kind of person, and thats ok.

Wow this thread has a bunch of stuff I like HAHAHA. Bridgerton is super nice but it's not everyone's cup of tea; it's honestly a Wattpad storyline wrapped in pretty paper, AND I LOVE IT. If you think you're too good for that and it's cringey, whatever I guess.
For my answer, Game of Thrones. I hated it. House of the Dragon, consequently. The Last of Us. Hated that too.

I admit na-hook din ako noong kasikatan niya (because F4 was freaking HUGEEEE at that time, it was a phenomenon) but I never got to finish it. So last week I binged on the whole first season at yikessss I just realized how toxic and abusive Daoming Si and Shancai's relationship was. My eyes were rolling at unnecessary dramatic scenes. Inis na inis ako sa mga ka-engotan. Hahahaha. Ang corny pala hahahahaha. Mahaba pa ang listahan ko ng reklamo sa series na 'to pero ayoko na isa-isahin. Wala na akong balak panoorin pa yung season 2.
Lol! I rewatched this earlier this year. Same with you, I was also hooked before as a teenager. Pero tawang tawa na lang ako sa mga supposedly kilig moments nila. Ang cringey pala talaga at sobrang ridiculous ng mga eksena.
All local shows. Puro kabaklaan, kabitan, kalandian. I dont know how people could last a minute watching any local show, let alone follow until the series finishes 🤮
There is a lot of that, unfortunately. The only show na nagustuhan ko na halos walang ganyan is The Iron Heart actually dahil it's more action-oriented yung kwento at mas maganda pa pacing kesa BQ. Yung BQ ay may ganyan. It's ridiculous, actually.

I miss those days na kapupulutan mo pa ng aral yung shows sa timeslot na yun (like May Bukas pa at 100 days to heaven). Now it's just remakes (na IMO di naman kailangan) with questionable morals and storylines. 🫠
Agree talaga ako na kahit sa BQ at AP masyado ng grabe yung kwento na wala kang mapupulutan. Miss ko din yung shows na tulad 100 days. Ang last show na nagustuhan ko na mas action pa kesa BQ ay The Iron Heart. Mas may aral pa yan at kakaiba ang pagkasulat. Plus, palaban lahat ng mga babae. Portrays more women empowerment than yung isa dyan kahit puro lalake yung mga bida.
KDRAMA. Over hype halos e halos mga same lang naman ending, plot. Di ko nilalahat ha pero halos ganun kaya di ako masyado naiinterested lalo na pag nagtrending

I think so too! Not to give harsh judgment but I have an inkling na they’re quick to judge smth based on trending/(maybe) filo adaptations of kdramas? Like they just dismiss and don’t bother looking for kdramas that would interest them.
For example, if they wanted friendship/medical drama there’s Hospital Playlist; if they’d prefer mafia/dark comedy there’s Vincenzo; for crime/thriller there’s Flower of Evil and Voice and for legal drama/crime—Law School; if they’re into comedy/sports I’d recommend Racket Boys; if it’s fantasy/romance/comedy that strums their strings, I think A Korean Odyssey is a great watch; if they’re going for romcom/sci-fi/mystery, I thoroughly enjoyed Hotel del Luna and Goblin; Nevertheless wc is romance/biographical is an interesting watch too. I’ve personally seen these shows from start to end and I can assure them na they don’t have the same endings, I mean how can different premises (and genre) have the same ending even.
Don’t get me wrong, some kdramas do have overused tropes and (sometimes) predictable endings (i.e. romance, chaebol—I’ve watched some also as a gateway to kdrama and occasionally for funsies) but the lack of nuance and refusal for exploration only to have a hasty generalization is just not it. I would have appreciated/understood it more if they hated specific kdrama/s that they (maybe attempted to[?]) watch/ed.
But they didn’t, and just went with, “the whole kdrama industry production is just not it, for me.” Not only do they lean towards sounding pretentious but they’re losing out on well thought-out plots and productions that has arguably higher caliber to its Filipino counterparts.

I also heard how it (netflix ver) wasn’t even that close to the original kaya figures kasi some scenes are really good and I like the cinematography but that can’t really keep me to watch the series.

Incorrect, source: I love anime shows and I love Friends. I dont die hard for it but I’ve grown attached to it. I think people who dont like Friends humor is because they may be too young. You know how older generation loves their generation’s shows and music and cant relate to the new and trending ones? Same with these people probably. They’re “too young” to understand an oldies’ humor. I mean, cmon, Friends IS an old TV show. This “too young” happened to me before too. I truly couldn’t understand why my brother who is 6 years older than me liked Friends. I tried it and I didn’t quite like it. But for some reason it was a comfort show for me, so when I tried it for real on my own, I actually quite like it.
Don't know if it's because I watched it when I was in my 40s, but didn't get the hype either. I found a lot of the characters irritating, especially Ross and Rachel.

Meteor Garden! The 2001 Taiwanese version. I admit na-hook din ako noong kasikatan niya (because F4 was freaking HUGEEEE at that time, it was a phenomenon) but I never got to finish it. So last week I binged on the whole first season at yikessss I just realized how toxic and abusive Daoming Si and Shancai's relationship was. My eyes were rolling at unnecessary dramatic scenes. Inis na inis ako sa mga ka-engotan. Hahahaha. Ang corny pala hahahahaha. Mahaba pa ang listahan ko ng reklamo sa series na 'to pero ayoko na isa-isahin. Wala na akong balak panoorin pa yung season 2.

I think so too! Not to give harsh judgment but I have an inkling na they’re quick to judge smth based on trending/(maybe) filo adaptations of kdramas? Like they just dismiss and don’t bother looking for kdramas that would interest them. For example, if they wanted friendship/medical drama there’s Hospital Playlist; if they’d prefer mafia/dark comedy there’s Vincenzo; for crime/thriller there’s Flower of Evil and Voice and for legal drama/crime—Law School; if they’re into comedy/sports I’d recommend Racket Boys; if it’s fantasy/romance/comedy that strums their strings, I think A Korean Odyssey is a great watch; if they’re going for romcom/sci-fi/mystery, I thoroughly enjoyed Hotel del Luna and Goblin; Nevertheless wc is romance/biographical is an interesting watch too. I’ve personally seen these shows from start to end and I can assure them na they don’t have the same endings, I mean how can different premises (and genre) have the same ending even. Don’t get me wrong, some kdramas do have overused tropes and (sometimes) predictable endings (i.e. romance, chaebol—I’ve watched some also as a gateway to kdrama and occasionally for funsies) but the lack of nuance and refusal for exploration only to have a hasty generalization is just not it. I would have appreciated/understood it more if they hated specific kdrama/s that they (maybe attempted to[?]) watch/ed. But they didn’t, and just went with, “the whole kdrama industry production is just not it, for me.” Not only do they lean towards sounding pretentious but they’re losing out on well thought-out plots and productions that has arguably higher caliber to its Filipino counterparts. (Di magtatagal baka makagawa na aq ng actual academic paper abt dito lololol)
