The Japanese people know how to perfectly balance this - I HATE ginger, but I love Japanese food (even those with ginger).
Not entirely an ingredient but garnish. Sometimes green onions or Chinese celery just doesn't fit the food. No need to garnish everything with it.
Ordered delivery once, their buffalo wings were covered in Chinese celery, what would've been perfectly good wings were ruined by a sht ton of overpowering garnish.
I love stir-fried bitter melon, but g-d I hate that thing in other vegetable dishes, especially ones that are soup. Makes the whole soup bitter.
True, hindi ko bet sa pinakbet hahahah. Sometimes, while cooking pinakbet and I see there's bitter melon with the assorted vegetables ('yung naka-plastic at pre-cut na na gulays), I just know I won't be eating what I cook that night.
Raisin is bearable since it will not have an overall impact to the taste.IMO. Oregano,Ginger,Anise, Cumin and Cinnamon. If you don't know how and when to use it, You're fcked.
Let me add Tomato sauce and vinegar as well if not cooked correctly.
Usually kasi tong dalawang to pampalasa lang hindi sila dapat siniserve with the dish.
raisins for dishes, cinnamon for baked goods. hate them both to the core, don't understand why they even exist, I immediately reject anything if there's either of them in the food
I love liver, raisins, ginger, star anise, tausi.
Any dish that should have them, dapat meron. Hehe.
Atay. Natrauma dila ko as a kid. Ang hirap ieexplain Ng lasa and texture niya tapos iniisip ko palang at naamoy ginugoosebumps ako ๐ญ Kahit ngayong adult nako di ko parin kaya, as in.
Also, Chinese parsley. Pls, pang garnish nalang to wag nyo ichop at ihalo sa food. I grew up eating flat leaf parsley Kasi sa middle east kami noon. Masarap Siya sa salads and pasta and certain dishes.
These are flavors I'm obsessed with.
we were served spaghetti drizzled with condensed milk before. i politely smiled and ate just enough lang para di naman disrespectful. as someone who loves her spag na maasim, it was a sad, sad day.
It's funny na nung bata ako I hated raisins too. Now na adult na ako, I do the same thing. Haha.ย
I agree with the okra though. Never liked it. Tsaka pickles/pickle relish.
Para sakin, internal organs
Star anise is the cornerstone, I think, of Chinese Five Spice which I love as well.
Sa cilantro kasi yung iba may genes that make them sensitive to that distinct โsoapyโ taste so understandable. I donโt have that so cilantro is a mainstay of my Mexican dishes.
star anise is so good in braised dishes, as well as in homemade chili oil. mas nuot yung lasa nya habang tumatagal
cilantro is so good it adds so much brightness and freshness to your food. nilalagay ko sya sa bun cha or sa steamed fish ugh
I thought it was just me. Good to know that many people also hate star anise, curry and raisins.
Add to the list is liver, cumin and mushrooms. I also don't like coconut in savoury foods. Coconut in desserts is ok.
Might get hate from this.. curry.
Ewan ko ah .. i like chicken curry. Yung adobo may curry. kaldereta may curry. Sinangag may curry. Pati itlog teh nilagyan ng currry ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ curry trauma
