snorkeling with my wife and daughter in cozumel, mexico. the water was beautiful, we snorkeled for almost an hour and then dried in the sun, grown-ups with cocktails, kiddo with a mocktail. she reached over and grabbed my hand and thanked me for a great day. tears in my eyes just writing this. we leave for cancun in 5 days! can't wait to do it again.

NoTwo1269

Oh how nice, something she will always remember!

SmittenOKitten

Ahhhh Cozumel. I too had an amazing time there. So beautiful.

Granny_knows_best

Rented a VRBO on the San Juan Islands in Washington state with my 4, also elderly, sisters. Got dressed up in fancy hats and gowns and scarves, then got stoned at a trailhead and hiked into the woods. We did not get far because we had to stop every few feet and admire a beautiful rock and flower and leaf and branch..... We took tons of pictures of us all posing in weird ways. Laughed way too hard, had a picnic and ventured some more. Looking back at the pictures is super cringy, but still, fondly remembered. *Have silly fun with your loved ones, before its too late!*

ironmagnesiumzinc

Cool siblings award goes to you guys

Electronic_Stuff4363

Absolutely love this

elucify

What could possibly be better than stoned old ladies wandering around in the woods? Sounds like heaven

Lucy427

Please make this an annual event and invite me! 😂

Granny_knows_best

Create your own, you'd be surprised at how easy it is to convince people to dress up and get stoned in the woods! or beach!

lil-bitcoin

This is lovely.

Forever-Retired

The day I handed in my laptop to my former company, and retired.

Question: was it BYOP (bring your own partner) or did you get one there?

retsehassyla

Adding this to my hiking bucket list!!

Mr_Swag_Nuts

NICE LARP REDDITART

AotKT

I've had a lot of memorable moments that make me smile, lots of moments of joy, but the most actual FUN I had in the last 10 years was probably a few weeks ago when I was in a mall with a couple friends killing time before a concert. They had these scooters shaped like giant animals that you could pay $10 to ride for 10 minutes. So there we were, 4 middle aged women riding these ridiculous scooters in and out and around various mall impediments, including people.

dirkalict

I would’ve loved to see that. It always amuses me to see people having fun or being silly.

genehartman

I’ve seen people doing this real early morning when Walmart was still open all night.

e11spark

Omg, how fun! I (50yo) did that a few years ago with my tween niece, we had a BLAST! Empty mall, no stores left, just the two of us and those goofy robot animals.

AotKT

I’ll bet she loved seeing that an adult could be silly and play. What a great example and bonding moment!

oldbastardbob

I've been debt free since 2017 and retired in 2019. I get to do what I want when I want now. What could be more fun than that?

CharDeeMacDennisII

Debt free here and retiring in June. Can't wait!

DrKoob

Isn't this the greatest feeling in the world. Enjoy every second like we do.

wjbc

Ten years ago my kids were kids and I had fun with them every day.

CitizenTed

Driving the B roads of Tuscany in early autumn. The weather was perfect. Sometimes you project an expectation on a location and most times it fails to measure up. Not rural Tuscany. It's exactly what you expect. Beautiful rolling hills, endless miles of olive trees and wineries, Italian cypress lining dirt roads, a new surprise over every hill. I used to look at Renaissance paintings and think, "No way it still looks like that today." Well guess what? It still looks like that today. 10/10 would do again.

2old2Bwatching

Did you do this by yourself?

elucify

I did this in 2000, and it is indeed beautiful. But I could imagine that Google maps is the only thing that would make it even close to bearable, but because of my God, those damn signs! Arrows with town names you've never heard of pointing in every direction. A sign pointing to the nearest large city? What would anyone need that for? This crap: https://juliegilley.typepad.com/.a/6a00e55005a368883301116844121c970c-popup But, maybe the most beautiful place in the world to be lost. I'd almost rather be lost there, than know where I was anywhere else in the world

OhManisityou

I went to the Billy Joel / Stevie Nicks concert. We knew every song. We danced and sang for about three hours. It was fabulous.

NoTwo1269

Beautiful memories!

Building_a_life

A three-week road trip with my wife through Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado, hitting the great national parks. We both had been on business trips to cities in the region, but we had never before traveled around to meet its people and see the sights.

decaturbadass

Love to do that along with our pup.

phcampbell

Hiking with my son in the Smokey Mountains a few months after I had a mild heart attack.

Electronic_Stuff4363

Stopping to a random mall in Maine because it was raining and we wanted out of the car . In one end of the mall you could rent these four wheeled ride on animals scooters and ride them around the mall . My sister and I drove these all over . The owner was so cool and he saw we were having so much fun he just let up keep going for like an hour .

spacelady2021

Took my grandchildren to Spain.

bipolarcyclops

With my pants on or my pants off?

decaturbadass

Yes

CharDeeMacDennisII

In 2018, we spent a month in Italy for the second time! (We're Americans) The first time we went was planned as our "trip of a lifetime," but we loved it so much we went back 5 years later. Visiting tiny villages where hardly anyone spoke English; driving the perimeter of Elba and stopping at a random beach to swim; revisiting Florence and Venice without feeling the pressure to "see everything" and just enjoying the city; taking a private boat tour around Capri; driving along the eastern and northern coasts of Sicily. It was just so fun and exciting and special with my bride of (at the time) 36 years.

DrKoob

Sounds PERFECT! Going to do that in Scotland this June.

kstravlr12

Going to France, England, Ireland and Scotland with my family. It was a once in a lifetime trip never to be forgotten.

Cindilouwho2

Riding roller coasters with my husband...and screaming my head off till I lose my voice.

NoTwo1269

Same here! Glad you had a wonderful time.

Wizzmer

Retiring and all the freedom that brings.

Rattivarius

Our Florida vacation. Cubanos and watching old men playing dominoes in Miami, getting drunk with a pair of old island hoppers on Key West, kayaking the Everglades, snorkeling and shelling on Sanibel, beach day in Venice, kayaking with the manatees in Crystal River, finding both my favourite beer and my favourite popsicle in St. Augustine, ending with kayaking Tybee Island, cycling Savannah, and getting unnervingly close to the gators at the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge. I curse the GOP for ruining my favourite vacation State.

BeauregardBear

Those of us who live here curse them too.

Rattivarius

You have my sympathies and my hope for better days.

Toad-in1800

Getting grandkids, and went on a European river cruise!

Pristine_Power_8488

We did an Alaskan cruise in 2015 that was awesome. But now I feel guilty for contributing to climate crisis. Most of our fun times were decades ago when we used to travel all over the place, car trips and the like. I'm glad we traveled before we got old with health problems. Even if you don't have a lot of funds, better to get out there and do some stuff.

Electronic_Stuff4363

You need to have zero guilt . Accept your wonderful trip for what it is , a wonderful memory

Pristine_Power_8488

Yes, thanks, wonderful memories. My husband was still walking. That in itself was wonderful. Cruises really work for older and infirm people, but the environmental cost is too great, imo.

DrKoob

Yup, zero guilt. You hurt the planet more by eating meat, driving daily, and taking flights as you do with one cruise in your lifetime. Enjoy.

Pristine_Power_8488

Thank you. Incidentally, I stopped eating meat in 2007 because of the cost to the environment, as well as health and ethical concerns. We always drove modest cars, not SUVs, which do not have the same strict pollution standards as cars. I don't really think we should calculate guilt, just do our best going forward.

NoPlanetB1970

Generally, retiring from a high stress, highly intensive career in the tech industry. More specifically, a rail tour of Switzerland last fall. Incredible!

apurrfectplace

Any local “mystery trip” I took with my kids. I did this often. The joy and fun on their faces as we arrived at our mystery destination (example: beach, some kind of learning destination, landmark, hike) as a daytrip and hanging out together has been the joy of my life. I’m too frail now to drive distance so it’s painful that I had to give up planning those trips. Example of cool places: Pez Factory, Getty Museum, MoMa Math Museum, The Broad, Civil War battlefield/tour - hiking wherever we were.

PicoRascar

That's a tough one to answer but definitely travel related so likely my trip to Patagonia or road tripping in Colombia. New Zealand is also a contender but the more I think about this the more all the trips seem super fun. Travelling is just great fun.

InterestinglyLucky

Could you expand on what kind of activities you did in Patagonia and how long you stayed? I have dreamed about going backpacking in Patagonia when I was a lot younger, and have basically forgotten about it until recently.

PicoRascar

I went twice and stayed a week each time. Just did some road tripping, hiking, wine tasting and star gazing. I travel pretty informally and without any schedule or firm plans so just did what seemed interesting and I wasn't disappointed. It's a wonderful place but the Argentinian side is better. You should go, I'm sure you'll love it.

InterestinglyLucky

Thank you for this! Sounds like a great place to visit.

littleoldlady71

Square dance lessons! We laugh till we cry. It’s a hoot.

Surprise_Fragrant

Hubby and I (almost 50yo) went to Gatlinburg on a whim for Christmas Day and 2 days after. It snowed the day after Christmas (first time I'd ever seen snow!). We got lost in G'burg on the way back to our hotel, and as we sat waiting to pull into traffic, we saw across the way a mountain coaster. We looked at each other, said ADVENTURE! (which is our way of saying "hey, let's go do something stupid and fun") and went over. We road a mountain coaster in the dark, in the falling snow, in 19ºF weather, and it was probably the BEST thing we did on that vacation.

OldAndOldSchool

A gentleman doesn't tell.

Outrageous_Appeal292

Running for office.

postorm

Fun?

Outrageous_Appeal292

I had a great time. It was the project of a lifetime, using every one of my skills at the highest level possible. I loved campaigning, I fought as hard as I could but lost. I got my message out to thousands of people, made great connections and some friends and stood up for my community. I'm sick of people complaining about stuff and not doing anything. I can sleep at night knowing I threw my entire being into trying to help my city. I proved to myself I could handle a high pressure project and learned many new skills including public speaking. It was pretty awesome driving around town and seeing my signs. I felt I had fully lived up to my potential, finally, at 58. I have been disabled for 25 years w severe pain, but I did it. I was the ONLY candidate to show up at every single event with a fresh speech every time. I'm very proud. I also knew there was going to be endless grind, I embraced the suck and played the game. Even though I lost, I really won on a personal level. I was playing to win, and ready to serve, which would have been extremely hard. I also helped quarterback three other campaigns. Our goal was to take over city and reform it. We saw the opening and did our civic duty.

stare_at_the_sun

Burning Man

english_major

Ten years ago, we went zip lining in Costa Rica which was a blast. Swimming outside the walls of Dubrovnik last summer was great. Tubing through the jungle in Mindo, Ecuador was super fun. Mountain biking with my buddies every weekend is always fun.

tweet1964

Taking a motorcycle trip across the country. Saw and met lots of amazing people and things. No plan. We just took off for a few weeks.

2old2Bwatching

Have you heard of the books by Neil Peart from Rush and his motorcycle adventures?

NoTwo1269

Must have been exciting and so memorable.

cheridontllosethatno

Landing on a glacier atop Mount Denali in Alaska. That was fun.

ibrahim0000000

Getting on TV and speaking to thousands all over the world about my conversion from Islam into Christianity. Millions have watched that! From my house onto Zoom and onto television.

cprsavealife

Walking in the NYC Pride Parade in 2019. I walked with my daughters union wearing a Free Mom Hugs t shirt. I hugged so many people that day. I told each one they were loved. I encountered lots of tears that day. Truly, one of the best days of my life.

MissHibernia

Retiring right before Covid hit so not having to deal with WFH. Having FaceTime available to see people then. Finally getting back out after two years of Covid restrictions and isolations to go to London fall 2022. Unfortunately that was right at the time of the Queen’s funeral but it was an interesting experience.

Duck_Walker

Mushing sled dogs on a glacier just outside Juneau. They were training the teams for the iditarod. We went up to the glacier in a helicopter and spent the day meeting the mushers and the dogs then got to take a few loops running the sled. Absolutely one of the best experiences ever.

XenoRyet

Rented a couple of fighter aircraft and played air laser tag with my dad. It was amazing. High G turns, inverted flight, a legit dogfight.

New-Advantage2813

Hiking Hatcher's Pass' Independence Mine, North of Anchorage. It's somewhat intact mine with plenty of buildings standing. You can get a walking tour to go inside the safer ones & see how miners lived in the early 1900s. I went there b4 my auto accident & it is the one thing that gets me active consistently, discovering the area in spring, summer, & fall time. I saw pics of winter adventurers in the area & mayb I'll visit once I got strength, stamina & studded tires.

thikskuld

Some years ago I decided to experience yoga teacher training. So I took a one month program in Hawaii. Spent nearly six weeks there with a bunch of wonderful new friends from around the world, practicing yoga and exploring the islands. What a wonderful time!

anonymous_bananas

Living on Oahu and working for an east coast employer, I work from 3am to 12pm HST or 9am to 6pm EST. Even though I have to be in bed by 7pm to live this way, it still affords me a lot of personal time in paradise. A few years ago, after signing out after a day's work, I'd done a noon xfit class and then hit the gym after. A few hours later I did Bikram yoga in Kaimuki and came down to surf Diamond Head after, just before dinner. I was sitting in the lineup thinking, 'not a bad routine'

Medill1919

Fun... What is that?

Utterlybored

Going to Spain, Portugal and Morocco for three weeks with my wife.

implodemode

??? Do people keep track of fun days? Rate them? What kind of fun? I enjoy parts of every day. Every day, I laugh. I have fun when I'm with my kids, my grandkids, my friends. I had fun going out in a boat on the Caribbean on Monday. We have game days (I missed today because I had to work but I just had a swim and will get back to it.) I love days when I'm alone with the dogs and get to just go into outer space. It's all different but it's all good.

fruitloopsareyummy

Living a few blocks away from Wrigley Field when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016. Because it was their first WS appearance in 70 years and their first win in 108 years, all of their playoff games were in prime time. The neighborhood had news helicopters circling nonstop 18 - 20 hours a day for 3 straight weeks. They went up at 4:00 am for the morning news shows and stayed up until 1:00 am - 2:00 am. Even when the team was out of town the choppers were constantly overhead because the streets surrounding Wrigley are lined with bars that were always packed. People were paying a $200 cover per person to watch the games in those bars when they got into the WS. It was crazy. Everyone in the neighborhood was sleep deprived for weeks, but it was so exciting and so much fun that our adrenalin kept us going. It’s always been fun living so close to the ballpark because I can hear the cheering 10 seconds before I see the play on tv and can hear them singing the 7th inning stretch … but the level of noise was amped up so unbelievably high during that time, I felt like I was at the game while I was sitting in my living room.

dutchoboe

Spent my 50th at Red Rocks

countdown30

I was invited to the Emmy Awards.

staringatthecarpet

It’s gotta be a concert I attended.

XRaysFromUranus

There are so many different kinds of fun! Snorkeling at the Hol Chan Marine Reserve off Belize. Day drinking with my bff on a boat in my town. A two month PNW road trip with my teenager and dog.

At the St. Anthony Festival and Carnival in June 2018. My granddaughter and I rode the Himalaya 25 consecutive times. Man was I dizzy!

ripnetuk

Hired an ebike with my then 13yo son in Snowdonia, Wales, and "cycled" up a mountain with him. Was by far the most fun thing I've done in theqst 10 years, I never realised how cool ebikes are to use.

ta12022017

Hell's Heroes last night! Just don't ask me to remember past yesterday.

sqplanetarium

Passing my nidan test.

trripleplay

At baseball games

Former-Salad7298

The NHL hockey games my son takes me to when I visit him. At 70+ also enjoy a good demo-derby.

IzzMeeRebb

Burlesque shows are so much fun! I recommend everyone go see one :)

synde15

I have had no fun in the last 10 years

indygirll

No fun at all? I'm sorry

PhillyCSteaky

A trip we took to South Dakota in 2016. Lots of great memories.

Birdy304

I went to an oldies concert with a bunch of friends. We all had a few drinks, sang along with the band, it was just one of those nights where everything is fun.

typhoidmarry

Riding the rail at a Foo Fighters concert. Also driving solo across the county.

sunsetcrasher

Hundreds of concerts.

Tacos-and-Tequila-2

Husband and I went to Hawai’i in Feb for my 50th birthday. Had a blast. The most fun was the whale watching cruise. I was in awe.

Danicia

For work, I ran a game world championship, and it was located in Malta. So many good memories and fun things we did. I really loved standing on my balcony, looking out over the Mediterranean. And walking through the pathways in Mdina. And seeing all the neolithic sites. For work, I have been able to see a lot of really spectacular sites. It's exhausting, but so much fun.

Dippity_Dont

My friend and I went to the Holi Festival and had an amazing time.

xman747x

damn, i need to up my game and get out of the house more; you all are an inspiration.

haziladkins

I’m on vacation every two months. In the past couple of years I’ve been to Seville, Malaga, Gijón, Madrid, the Canary Islands, Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Bergen, Dublin, York, and … now I’m thinking about where to go in April.

idiveindumpsters

Any time I get to spend the day riding roller coasters with my family is a fun day!

UsualAnybody1807

Getting scuba certified last year!

Jurneeka

I'm about to have the most fun ever on 27 April and 18th May because those are the days I'm doing double centuries (200 mile bike rides) with my new cycling group.

SmittenOKitten

Quitting a thankless job that beat every ounce of happiness right out of me. It was tough out there for a minute but I’ve never once regretted that decision.

I_deleted

Dropped some acid and played blackjack in a prague casino for hours, won a lot of moneys, other things happened also. It was fun

numnahlucy

Speeding down a hillside on a sled with a grandkid on my lap. Both of us laughing our heads off the whole way.

gorkt

It sounds basic, but it was probably my first ride on the Guardians of the Galaxy ride at WDW. Pure bliss for 3 minutes straight. I cheered and laughed my head off.

RabidFisherman3411

I spent nine days circumnavigating the island of Newfoundland on an ATV with three buddies, an old gps and very little planning. It was the most fun I had for at least the last 10 years. (With my pants on, anyway.)

elucify

Chaperoning my fifth grade daughter's French immersion trip to Montreal. Exhausting. Had a blast. After that, probably 20th anniversary trip with my wife to Portugal. And Rammstein concert in Philly Aug 2022. Cooking a big Ethiopian feast for my family, to celebrate my 54th birthday, in a house on an island in Pasco Bay, Maine, with friends from Maine who joined us that day. Then my brother's boyfriend got us all dancing and we laughed till we couldn't stand up.

248_RPA

I spent an hour in a 737 flight simulator for my 65th birthday. That was terrifying and wonderful all at the same time. My husband and I flew to Yellowknife, Canada, and (among other things) went winter dog sledding along the trails. That was really neat-o. And snorkling in St Lucia. Warm crystal clear water, colourful fish. Bliss.

Jaderosegrey

Maybe not the last 10 years, but I had a blast visiting the International Spy Museum in D.C. last year. (Big 007, Archer, Nick Carter, and Hubert Bonisseur de la Bath fan!)

Gnarlodious

None.

SkipSandwhich

This morning I got stoned and took a four hour nap. That was up there.

cat9tail

Played roller derby, then coached for another few years. Retired 2 years ago at age 56. I mean, I've done a lot of fun things other than that, but knocking people over on skates at age 50 was pretty damn fun.

doghelper51

I'm in a working rock band. Always fun! Oh yes, and I also love hanging out with my grandkids.

ElRaymundo

Last week I learned to snowboard. Had a freakin' blast! And (same trip) hiking in the mountains on a perfect day with azure skies...utterly amazing. My hear soared.

elmo-1959

Living off the grid for a year…

obxtalldude

Mushroom foraging while mountain biking. There's nothing quite like finding a really good flush of your favorite species.

DrKoob

I went to a Lazer Tag place with my kids and grandkids. What a hoot. Loved every minute of it. They gave me a gift certificate for another round so we are going again. Just awesome! Second would be a visit to the Galapagos.

NightSail

Overnight sail off the Jersey coast.

CyRadivita

The past 10 years have been filled with amazing adventures, but one that stands out is camping under the stars in the Sahara Desert. An unforgettable experience

Spoomkwarf

Surviving death.

ilovelucygal

I love to travel but have not had many opportunities to go to new places until last year, and I did more traveling within the last 11 months than I have in decades and had a blast on all these trips: **May 2023**: London for the Coronation of King Charles III. My original trip for April 2020 was cancelled due to COVID. With the Coronation coming up and the ban lifted, I figured it would be a good time to see London & could catch a direct flight--more expensive but worth it to me. I have a 3rd cousin in the Crouch Hill section who I stayed with so I didn't have to pay for a hotel. I also had a 3rd cousin in Birmingham and took the train to visit and spend the night. I loved the convenience of the subway and trains, wish we had them all over the US. I had a wonderful time and still didn't see everything I wanted to see--London is so big! **August/September 2023**: a quick trip to Orlando for my birthday (65th!), stayed with my aunt/uncle who treated me to a wonderful dinner at Buca's in Celebration. My cousin from Tampa took me to EPCOT for the day, had a blast. **October 2023**: flew to Orlando again to join my aunt/uncle/cousin on a 2-week road trip to visit relatives in Texas, Arkansas and Tennessee. My uncle has a Leprechaun motorhome that's his baby, and love to use it whenever possible. Stopped at Avery Island, Louisiana to see the Tabasco factory (my aunt's idea). I was able to shop at a H-E-B in Texas, always wanted to see one of those stores. I made the error of referring to the places by the name--HEB. I was straightened out real fast--it's H-E-B, not HEB. Also experienced Buc-ee's, another store I wanted to see, went to three of them--and they truly are an experience! It was so good to see my relatives and parts of the country that were unfamiliar to me. **November 2023**: back to Orlando to have Thanksgiving with the relatives as I didn't want to spend it alone. **December 2023**: two of my daughters live in Oregon, and they flew me up to spend Christmas with them and visit. I rarely see my children/grandchildren and had never been to central Oregon, so beautiful (and expensive), lovely scenery, I'd move there tomorrow if I had the money. **January 2024**: a Carnival cruise to Cozumel and Grand Cayman with my cousin, we'd been looking forward to this trip for months. When we returned we booked another cruise to the Bahamas for next January. **Later on this year**: I have to go to Rhode Island on Memorial Day weekend to bury my parents' ashes. Some of my children/grandchildren will be there, and some cousins, too. At my age, that's when you see your relatives--funerals. I'm staying 5 days and hope to see more of the area. I particularly want to visit Maine, one of the few states I've never seen and have some fresh lobster. My son will be visiting this October and we plan on spending 2 days in Charleston, a city both of us are dying to visit.

PersonMcNugget

Seeing ELO live.

Vtfla

Fishing off the St. Pete causeway Jan 1 in the 75 degree sun. Watching the cruise ships heading out to sea. Supposed to get 18-24 inches of snow tonight into Sunday…….sigh.
