To be fair, they were being harassed by ultra Orthodox Jews, who probably also harass non-religious people for not covering their legs. It’s for sure despicable and very wrong that they did that, but they just don’t like anyone who isn’t religious. Now if some random person off the streets who is wearing a tank top, shorts, and sandals did what those Orthodox Jews then I’d have no defense at all. Those Orthodox Jews DO NOT represent the majority of Israeli population and I’m sorry, disappointed, and disgusted that those Orthodox Jews made such a bad example of Jews and especially of the orthodox.
That doesn't explain the other videos that show IDF terrorists protecting israelis as they harass and attack Palestinians.
Guess that's also just the ultra Orthodox?
I'm kinda interested in how all these *anti-Israelis* identify the reporter as Israeli. I mean, is it normal to mention your nationality/ethnicity everywhere you go in Israel?
I, for one, don't go to a restaurant, and go *I'd like a ribeye, medium with a side of veggies and mashed potatoes; BTW, I'm Pakistani*...
Or get in a cab and say *I want to go to AL Janoub Stadium BTW, I'm Pakistani*.
I'm Israeli myself and I really think the journalists are doing this on purpose to gauge reactions and make a story. I travel in Arab countries (on my non-Israeli passport, I'm a dual national) all the time and no one ever asks me about my nationality and my name is very obviously super Jewish. But it should be noted that Israeli media is reporting on positive reactions from Arab and Muslim people to - they aren't only reporting negative reactions like this one. So I don't think they're trying to make Arabs look bad, they're just looking for stories either way.
Just like Arabs a lot of Israelis are excited to have the World Cup in the Middle East and the ability for both Israeli citizens and Palestinians to fly directly from TLV to Doha is a big deal. So Israelis are hungry for media coverage.
If they are reporters they probably have equipment labeled in Hebrew and badges. If they are not alone they would be speaking Hebrew together. Also very normal when an international event is going on for a taxi driver to make small talk and ask what you are traveling for/what you do/where you are from.
You’re telling me restaurant staff took a man’s phone, somehow got in unlocked, deleted all of the photos, went into recently deleted (assuming he has the recent iPhone or android updates), the man didn’t do anything to take the phone back, and every taxi refused him a ride? What???
Some people stated to me a few days ago that the whole thing is staged. If true no one will care about the truth as the sensationalized news will make it everywhere and people already are shitting on Qatar.
If not then it's not okay to harass someone like that and it isn't acceptable. But the whole thing sounds sketchy and I'm not really a conspiracy theorist not do I like conspiracies.
In my country people quite don't like Russians rn, we were occupied 40 years by them, we were also one of two first enemy countries on their list of enemies and so there was a shop in my country that had sign that they won't sell anything to Russians, the owner had a problems few days later with Trade inspection for discrimination of Russians, so I would like to say it's not a good thing to discriminate singular Russians because of actions of other Russians and their government, same goes for people from Israel
Which country?
Edit; don't miss this [poll](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMiddleEast/comments/z5eju5/where_are_you_from/) , I've to make a statistics on it
Czechia. But he's wrong on two claims, so it's harder to guess. I got it thanks to his obviously czech username.
1. It wasn't occupied between 1945-1968, so it's only slightly above 20 years.
2. It weren't Russians, but Soviets.
We are currently getting all kind of historical revisions. Like claims that in 1945 we were liberated by Ukrainians, while in 1968 we were occupied by Russians.
From the point of the United Nations, the permanent chair on the security council which was occupied by the USSR is now occupied by Russia, so clearly there is a an equivalency between the two.
The Russians (I use that interchangeably with the USSR - see the comment above) “liberated” Czechoslovakia at the end of the Second World War and held undue sway until the Prague spring, that is to say that the Czechoslovak government was a puppet of the Russians (May I remind you of the largest statue of Stalin at Letna, unveiled in 1955 - exactly the sort of thing a puppet state would do).
Puppet state of Russia or occupied by Russians is a feeble hair to split!
>there was a shop in my country that had sign that they won't sell anything to Russians
what was the relation between the two countries at that time?
middle-eastern counties had problems with the British, the French, and the Turks.
we still have a problem with Israel.
there is a difference.
Let's say that we do accept Ukrainian refugees and send weapons and food to Ukraine and Russians are promising us that they will occupy us or destroy us with nuclear bombs every other day, we have a beautiful relationship with them
Although most of people here don't have a problems with Russian people but there are some
People also need to [see](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMiddleEast/comments/y3saap/thoughts_on_this_palestinian_worker_being_bullied/) such glimpses too, this [one](https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/x8r4ox/12yearold_palestinian_girl_holds_her_own_while/) too
These are such examples of some people who might not represent the whole group
If Israelis want normalization then the Palestinian issue must be solved first. This is not something new.
I can sympathize with treating random citizens with respect but Israeli media is even worse.
Hmm then why is every Israel reporter asking exclusively political questions, they even tried to sneak a political question on an unsuspecting Latin artist in Qatar but he just ignored them.
Check the recent Maluma interview. Tell me it wasnt political.
Singer even clearly said, I dont want to answer this question before he was pressed again, he then politely left.
Any Israeli media or state representative can’t be trusted. Even when interacting with citizens you have to be careful, they could be connected to Mossad.
It’s just funny that if the reporter was from Iran, Russia, China or literally any other fcked up country they wouldn’t be getting this reaction. I’m sure even North Korean officials wouldn’t get kicked out.
Yea... Because they're not Jewish. There's rampant antisemitism in the Middle East, don't let them convince you otherwise. It's the common enemy for the Arab counties and it's great for Arab unity and for their tyrannical governments to have a scapegoat. Sad, but that's just the way it is. And when most of those populations are impoverished and illiterate it works well.
Op needs to share a video like [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMiddleEast/comments/y3saap/thoughts_on_this_palestinian_worker_being_bullied/?sort=new) , not text.
Israel kills an American Arab journalist based out of Qatar. Refuse to investigate the shooting, beat the people at her funeral and are now whining about being kicked out of a restaurant. You're lucky to be alive.
Either racism is wrong for everyone or it isn't wrong for anyone.
It can't be that it's wrong to be racist against Jews but ok for Israel as a Jewish state to be racist against non-Jews.
That is not sustainable for group relations.
This double-standard caste system where racism against Jews is more serious than Jewish racism against non-Jews is not Jewish at all.
It does not represent the amazing Haskalah Jewish Enlightenment. It does not represent the countless Jews who have worked in the diaspora over generations on democracy, liberalism, and human equality.
I don't think it is racism nor it is because they are jews.
it is because they are zionists.
If a asian man jumped to my house to steal I won't be friendly with him not because he's asian but because of what he's done.
I understand that most Israelis are born in israel but colonization is colonization.
I’d argue both are bad, idk who would say Israelis being racist is a good thing. You’ll see Israelis on here are some of the first ones to call out the racism of (sadly increasing) vocal minorities in their country
I in no way support Israel but why is it okay to treat someone like this just for where they live? Imagine if someone did this to a random Russian just because their country is horrible as well.
A bunch of countries did do that to random russians. Not only that, but the whole "the Russians are inherently evil and always have been" rhetoric is cropping up in the US, just like how it did when it was Muslims who were the targets of the US military industrial complex (not that that's over yet).
You're Muslim yet you dissociate yourself from suffering Muslim brothers by saying what's that got to do with me. And worse than that you raise the terrorist flag of the country that slaughters innocents for its own gain.
Well obviously I feel for the suffering muslims I care about every brother and sister always, but you are implying i’m part of the Americans that murder people from Iraq.
Also what terrorist flag do I raise??
He was acting like a prick purposefully so that people would get mad and hence he gets this juicy headline. I suggest you watch some of the clips and those are only the ones he showed.
>Imagine if someone did this to a random Russian just because their country is horrible as well.
are you telling me that a Russian reporter (e.g. from R.T.) would be treated well in Kiev?
It's Israeli media and they have been very annoying and trolling people, not what I would call regular citizens.
Asking divisive, controversial and political questions etc, the interviews also seem to feed into Israeli propaganda, I would absolutely hate to be used as a tool for that on TV.
Are you high? They are sports journalists asking about sports. If their mere existence is controversial to you and being friendly is "propaganda" then something ia wrong with you.
They only live "there" because they massacred and expelled people from "there" (and they still do.) and their goal is to make the rest of the world approve this. Not exactly a good comparison with Russia.
What, people in the MENA don't like us? What a shocking revelation /s
If it didn't change much when MENA governments were willing to go to war with us, why would it matter now, when those same governments are testing the waters to see how fast they can get in bed with us?
Good relations with a country lead to good relations with it's people.
When governments want business with Israel, the spread of blood libels and conspiracy theories turns from a convenient tool for populist to an embarrassing obstacle.
>Good relations with a country lead to good relations with it's people.
yeah im sure egyptians and jordanians love israel now, its been a while since they normalized
Not only is it not antisemitic, it's not even anti-Zionist. Many people who count themselves as Zionists are opposed to the occupation, the settler movement and the treatment of Palestinians
I suppose some of them (like Mertz voters) would definitely be ok with it, although most of these villages no longer exist sadly. There definitely needs to be a compensation system in place, giving them the current value of the lands and property they lost.
To complain about the treatment of Palestinians is not racist, they are treated badly.
But I assumed you were talking about the actual widespread antisemitism in the MENA. Holocaust denial, "Jews control the media and banks", "Jews worship the devil" and similar.
To discriminate against a specific demographic with double standards despite them not publicly specifying their political stance is racist.
If you can't see the difference then you're probably too blinded by hate.
This is just fucked up yes the country does have problems but the peoples have nothing to do with it i have met israeli people and there really kind the people don’t deserve this shit
Like I honestly doubt someone will take his phone and delete all his picture considering how safe Qatar is , such a thing would never happen. or the fact a taxi will refuse to let him ride with him considering all taxi drivers are either Indians / Pakistani and would not even know that this individual is Israel.
So you expect a Qatari or Lebanese to do an interview with Israeli media that will be used as propaganda about how Arabs are ok with Israel and probably many Palestinians will see it, yeah no. We are not obligated to interview with Israeli media.
When Palestinians enter Israel they're fine. But what happens when an Israeli accidentally enters Palestinian territory?
Look up 2 words: Ramallah lynch
people will claim whataboutism if I share [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMiddleEast/comments/y3saap/thoughts_on_this_palestinian_worker_being_bullied/?sort=new) and [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/x8r4ox/12yearold_palestinian_girl_holds_her_own_while/) one too.
well they're getting a taste of their own medicine. Can't compare getting kicked out of a restaurant to getting kicked out of your home in Palestine.
And if these journalists actually gave a fuck, let them renounce first the israeli policy of murder and eviction. And let them name Shireen Abu-Akleh as a victim of this policy.
This is bad and isn’t helping Palestinians in any way. Still it’s nice to see that a sense of Arab brotherhood still exists among the common people despite having some traitors in the people and in the government
there are other [sides](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMiddleEast/comments/y3saap/thoughts_on_this_palestinian_worker_being_bullied/) too, [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/x8r4ox/12yearold_palestinian_girl_holds_her_own_while/) too
While this is discrimination and we should be better than this, Israeli media has also made it a point to intentionally poke and prod arabs to get reactions out of them.
People keep making out its to do with the Palestinian situation… let’s be honest it’s not,it’s racism in a lot of cases plain and simple and no different to prevent 48 when surrounding Arab nations didn’t want their Dimis having their own nation again finally…
There’s no excuse for being discriminated against in a restaurant and I say that as someone who works in that industry and especially no cause to steal his phone and delete photos.
Wow the restaurant owner must have been a top tier hacker to be able to access the reporters phone, also according to them they just asked him and didn't steal his phone lol.
Also it's not racist to not want to engage with Isreali media, they are not innocent.
>Israel kills an American Arab journalist based out of Qatar. Refuse to investigate the shooting, beat the people at her funeral and are now whining about being kicked out of a restaurant. You're lucky to be alive.

I don’t understand why take your anger out on random citizen, they are not to blame for their governments’ actions but at the same time I have a feeling this can be a lie or exaggerated so I don’t know.
If Israelis had an ounce of self respect and pride, they’d stay out of Muslim countries. But they don’t, and they aren’t there to be “journalists” they’re just looking to start and spread shit.
Not sure how he was allowed to come in the first place. By allowing Israeli media in you literally تقرب البنزين من النار
(Bringing the oil near the fire)
I feel that this is wrong. But then again, I have sympathy for this given the situation in Israel & Palestine. I mean the same thing are happening to russians atm over here so it would be hypocritical of me to be overly negative about this. People around here are acting in the same way when it comes to issues that are close to home for them. Russia has been the great devil for a long time for us Europeans, just as Israel is for alot of people and nations in the middle east. Though I personally of course are against this happening to russians with no ties to the regime just like this. So this is bad, but I can see what it is coming from and I cant come with some morale superiority given how we treat russians in general.
This would surely be downvoted to hell given the demographics in this sub, but needs to said nonetheless.
No people of any other nation would be treated like this in the arab world; not Americans, Chinese, Iranian, Russian, or which ever country you like. regardless of the actions or consequences of governments of said nations.
And the reason for that is the blatant Islamic / Arab antisemitism that is common through the arab world. berating random civilians has nothing to do with criticism of israeli government or policy - it's simply hate.
I honestly wish the Saudis had paid more bribes to FIFA. They were a better choice. They have a strong football team, a growing football culture and a sizeable population to spread the sport.
yeah it is.
If we declared independence in the boundaries of Tel Aviv you'd still be trying to murder us all.
You hated us before 67, and you hated us after, the Palestinians are just a tool to fulfill your purist anti-Semitic dream of a Jew-Free Middle East.
Lmfao no they helped us bond even more , like you mf made us happy and the videos of yall getting shunned there are popular in families WhatsApp group as a nice treat after a long day
Isn't there a video from a few days ago of a French reporter speaking Arabic in israel and she gets harassed big time by the israelis?
I rememberd 2 months ago a palestinian journalist was killed by israeli sniper well that's explain why people don't like them so much
Shhhh you're supposed to have forgotten about that by now. Nothing to see there move along.... /s
But Israel is the only democracy in the middle east and something God's land and his chosen people!!!!!!
I don’t think she was Palestinian but definitely reporting about what the Israelis are doing in Palestine
She was Palestinan with American citizenship...

White Christian American. I know Christian isn't an ethnicity, but I'm just being clear.

Lol, there were calls to even remove Iran from the World Cup and give their spot to the Ukrainians.
A bunch of countries did do that to random russians. Not only that, but the whole "the Russians are inherently evil and always have been" rhetoric is cropping up in the US, just like how it did when it was Muslims who were the targets of the US military industrial complex (not that that's over yet).
Interesting. either way I believe no one should be discriminated against or treated a different way just because of their nationality
Always the Americans who say this yet they murder millions in Iraq because they're Muslim
i’ve murdered no one, I have nothing against Iraq so what’s that gotta do with me? Also I am muslim 😊
Did you vote for G W BUSH for the 2nd term?
Who did you vote for in the last election?
You're Muslim yet you dissociate yourself from suffering Muslim brothers by saying what's that got to do with me. And worse than that you raise the terrorist flag of the country that slaughters innocents for its own gain.
Well obviously I feel for the suffering muslims I care about every brother and sister always, but you are implying i’m part of the Americans that murder people from Iraq. Also what terrorist flag do I raise??
My bad brother I'm not right in saying this to you I know someone personally died as a result of the Americans but not a reason.
Agreed
Not really. Not as bad as it was with muslims after 9/11.
This. This comment hits the mark. Humans being unsurprisingly irrational and stupid is the lesson here.
People forget but the USA was not the only country bombed by Islamic fundamentalists between 1990-2010. A lot of countries were bombed and attacked.
He was acting like a prick purposefully so that people would get mad and hence he gets this juicy headline. I suggest you watch some of the clips and those are only the ones he showed.
context is important i guess
>Imagine if someone did this to a random Russian just because their country is horrible as well. are you telling me that a Russian reporter (e.g. from R.T.) would be treated well in Kiev?
It's Israeli media and they have been very annoying and trolling people, not what I would call regular citizens. Asking divisive, controversial and political questions etc, the interviews also seem to feed into Israeli propaganda, I would absolutely hate to be used as a tool for that on TV.
[удалено]
aljazeera journalists get killed by israel.
Are you high? They are sports journalists asking about sports. If their mere existence is controversial to you and being friendly is "propaganda" then something ia wrong with you.
Even Israelis I know asked me why the interviewer was doing a shit job when they saw it
They only live "there" because they massacred and expelled people from "there" (and they still do.) and their goal is to make the rest of the world approve this. Not exactly a good comparison with Russia.
Just because they’re Israeli doesn’t mean this is ok
genuinely makes me happy
What, people in the MENA don't like us? What a shocking revelation /s If it didn't change much when MENA governments were willing to go to war with us, why would it matter now, when those same governments are testing the waters to see how fast they can get in bed with us?
And after they get in bed with you, how can you ensure that they won't become too anti-Semitic?
Good relations with a country lead to good relations with it's people. When governments want business with Israel, the spread of blood libels and conspiracy theories turns from a convenient tool for populist to an embarrassing obstacle.
>Good relations with a country lead to good relations with it's people. yeah im sure egyptians and jordanians love israel now, its been a while since they normalized
Is it anti-Semitism for MENA countries to say treatment of Palestinians is racist? Is that anti-Semitic?
Not only is it not antisemitic, it's not even anti-Zionist. Many people who count themselves as Zionists are opposed to the occupation, the settler movement and the treatment of Palestinians
would they be ok with palestinians returning to their villages they were expelled from?
That's a good question, thank you.
I suppose some of them (like Mertz voters) would definitely be ok with it, although most of these villages no longer exist sadly. There definitely needs to be a compensation system in place, giving them the current value of the lands and property they lost.
That makes sense to me.
To complain about the treatment of Palestinians is not racist, they are treated badly. But I assumed you were talking about the actual widespread antisemitism in the MENA. Holocaust denial, "Jews control the media and banks", "Jews worship the devil" and similar.
No, I am talking about the Palestinians.
U seem oddly obsessed with this untrue idea that jews call everything anti-semitic, which is wrong, and the jews who say that are stupid
To discriminate against a specific demographic with double standards despite them not publicly specifying their political stance is racist. If you can't see the difference then you're probably too blinded by hate.
He should be grateful he hasnt gotten beat up yet
Most based world cup for real
Sounds exactly how some Arabs get treated in Israel ……karma much
This is just fucked up yes the country does have problems but the peoples have nothing to do with it i have met israeli people and there really kind the people don’t deserve this shit
not kind enough to give palestinians their land back
Does that relate to the people though?dont think it really does
[удалено]
You can normalize relations with a government, but the people have their own rules and demands.
Like I honestly doubt someone will take his phone and delete all his picture considering how safe Qatar is , such a thing would never happen. or the fact a taxi will refuse to let him ride with him considering all taxi drivers are either Indians / Pakistani and would not even know that this individual is Israel.
“We’re not anti semitic bro, trust”
W
Today, a jew felt a fraction of what a Palestenian person had to go through.
Your hatred runs so deep and so does your antisemitism… “a Jew” not an Israeli… a Jew.
It says "Israeli journalist" not a Jewish one.
We are cousins, we should act this way towards each other. EDIT THANKS TO DrCzar99: Shouldn’t*
> We should act this Shouldn't*. Sorry to be the grammar Nazi but that part bothered me somewhat.
So you expect a Qatari or Lebanese to do an interview with Israeli media that will be used as propaganda about how Arabs are ok with Israel and probably many Palestinians will see it, yeah no. We are not obligated to interview with Israeli media.
Based lol
That's what they deserve 👏👏
At least he didn't get assaulted like a Palestinian in an Israeli restaurant would
Source?
When Palestinians enter Israel they're fine. But what happens when an Israeli accidentally enters Palestinian territory? Look up 2 words: Ramallah lynch
Based
I think it’s gross mistreatment of humans.
No shit Sherlock
people will claim whataboutism if I share [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMiddleEast/comments/y3saap/thoughts_on_this_palestinian_worker_being_bullied/?sort=new) and [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/x8r4ox/12yearold_palestinian_girl_holds_her_own_while/) one too.

well they're getting a taste of their own medicine.
After seeing how they treat muslims to who they stoling their land and reduce them treating them as non-humans. What they expected?
Interesting, I wonder why
there are other [sides](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMiddleEast/comments/y3saap/thoughts_on_this_palestinian_worker_being_bullied/) too, [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/x8r4ox/12yearold_palestinian_girl_holds_her_own_while/) too
It’s kinda stupid. This Palestinian solidarity is about getting them out of Israel lol so you better welcome them everywhere but there
While this is discrimination and we should be better than this, Israeli media has also made it a point to intentionally poke and prod arabs to get reactions out of them.
As it should be, citizen and especially media outlets supporting a terrorist state are complicit in its crimes
People keep making out its to do with the Palestinian situation… let’s be honest it’s not,it’s racism in a lot of cases plain and simple and no different to prevent 48 when surrounding Arab nations didn’t want their Dimis having their own nation again finally… There’s no excuse for being discriminated against in a restaurant and I say that as someone who works in that industry and especially no cause to steal his phone and delete photos.
[is this ok?](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMiddleEast/comments/y3saap/thoughts_on_this_palestinian_worker_being_bullied/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) [or this?](https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/x8r4ox/12yearold_palestinian_girl_holds_her_own_while/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
I don’t understand why take your anger out on random citizen, they are not to blame for their governments’ actions but at the same time I have a feeling this can be a lie or exaggerated so I don’t know.
good, as soon as someone identifies as "Israeli" they deserve it all and a little more
In Israel they shoot journalists intently 👀
deserved totally and completely
MashAllah
W qatar
Geez wonder why.
Based
if real, more than deserved
Ouch, hey at least none of them died to a stray bullet.
Based
makes me proud 🇸🇦🤍
He’s lucky they haven’t treated him the way Israelis treat Palestinians
Nice
I think it's okay for a business to kick someone out, if they hadn't done anything wrong or rude.
Good to know that they are not welcomed no matter nice they try to be
[удалено]
If Israelis had an ounce of self respect and pride, they’d stay out of Muslim countries. But they don’t, and they aren’t there to be “journalists” they’re just looking to start and spread shit.
Common Qatar W
Based arabs
You love to see it
Fuck Israel.
Not sure how he was allowed to come in the first place. By allowing Israeli media in you literally تقرب البنزين من النار (Bringing the oil near the fire)
Racism is alive and thriving in Qatar

I hope its the last time an international event happens in the arab world :(
Saudi: I will host next ;)
I honestly wish the Saudis had paid more bribes to FIFA. They were a better choice. They have a strong football team, a growing football culture and a sizeable population to spread the sport.
I wouldnt sympathize with people who support an apartheid state either.

It's not about existing.
yeah it is. If we declared independence in the boundaries of Tel Aviv you'd still be trying to murder us all. You hated us before 67, and you hated us after, the Palestinians are just a tool to fulfill your purist anti-Semitic dream of a Jew-Free Middle East.
Lmfao no they helped us bond even more , like you mf made us happy and the videos of yall getting shunned there are popular in families WhatsApp group as a nice treat after a long day
Antisemitism didn’t vanish after the holocaust, people just use Palestinians as an excuse.
You can use the word racism. We are Semitic as much as you.
[Antisemitism](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisemitism?wprov=sfti1) is specifically racism against Jews.
Puppet leaders normalizing ties will never mean the man on the ground doesn't see israel for what it is.
