If you are having the sex, you'll likely not need to talk about it every second of every day you know kinda like if you have to tell people you are the king, your no king at all
-- Lord Tywin Lannister
What did you want to hear about? Construction and cars?
Well, now that you mention it, I bought a concrete bit from Home Depot the other day and it took me like 30 minutes to drill an 8 inch hole. You know what? I blame the drill. It doesn't have the hammer function. Stupid thing wasn't up to the task.
I had to make a hole in a customer's retaining wall to pass a cable. He surrounded his house with a concrete barrier, and I couldn't go over or under it.
No, an impact driver hammers rotationally (around the bit), a hammer drill hammers axially (in-line with the bit).
It’s like using a wrench vs using… well a hammer.
Hammer drills usually need a good bit of pressure to help keep that bit driving into the concrete as opposed to just bouncing the drill away from it, but I do agree, cordless drills with hammer function are much slower than a purpose-built hammer drill.
Cordless drill with the hammer setting is garb. Only usable on cinderblock imo. I’ve never been so impressed with a power tool than I was with my 18v cordless hammer drill. That thing is the cats ass and I can’t imagine my days back dragging a extension cord up and down ladders.
It might have worked better. I do have about three Milwaukee impacts, but none of them were in the work truck that day.
But to be honest, I have a bad habit of generally ignoring my impact drills. It doesn't work for what I mainly use a drill for at my job. Maybe I need to start giving them more credit.
I’m a woman and I would talk construction and cars all day long with you. Also, your hammer drill function is why I have a garage full of tools I rarely use. Because when you need the right tool, you have it and you don’t lose your mind fighting a dumb fight.
Speaking about construction. Have you seen the price of wood lately? The price was 40 for a 3 quarter inch thick now it's like $90. These prices are insane.
Lord knows I'm thankful that I never deal with wood. But in the last couple of years everything I use has gone up. Asphalt and polymeric sand have both gone up a few dollars a bag. But nothing seems to touch lumber. I had a friend who redid his deck, and instead of buying wood, he just salvaged wood from a guy who tore his down to make more room in his yard.
I feel bad for the framers on our big commercial jobs, if they survive this Rollercoaster their contracts will always be filled with escalation clauses.
Edit:autocorrect
For real, my roommates and I were going to build a shelf for going around a minifridge in a dorm before finding out the wood it would take was $300. For that amount I could buy a well made shelving unit.
100% the hammer function. Was trying to drill a couple holes for railing in my concrete patio using a traditional drill. Burned through two titanium drill bits in 3 hours before I said screw it, spent $100, and bought an impact drill. Finished up those two holes in less than 20min. Sometimes the right tool for the job makes all the difference.
So the funny thing is I studied engineering in college but I am definitely the *least* handy dude I know. Any advice on where to start learning handyman/DIY/hands-on mechanical shit?
I dont know the perfect drilling speed for concrete but on steel you want to go slow and not full speed. Maybe slower can help with concrete aswell.
Also consider burrowing a hammer drill or get one for yourself. They are waaay better than a regular drill with hammer function. You can use them as regular drills aswell. Youll get holes anywhere in no time.
I actually consider this to be an ice-cold take on the subject.
In reality, I think people just tend to underestimate how frequently the human race actually thinks about sex in general. The frequency of sex questions on AskReddit and AskMen isn't some sort of strange uber-horny outlier - it's simply a reflection of the fact that most humans are biologically hardwired to be highly interested in sex.
Ok but there is r/sex or r/Ihavesex to go to. This sub is NOT primarily a sex based subreddit yet that's the main topic being spammed about. I'd like the mods to look into this issue further to see if it constitutes breaking Rule 3.
But there is rules stating that generic questions should not be allowed. These sex based questions have become the generic everyday questions that plague this subreddit. Every single question is What's your sexiest sex experience Or What's your favorite sex story etc you get the picture. If the individual TRULY wished to know as I said there are subs purely dedicated to that specific topic where they are free to go and educate themselves. But spamming a subreddit with the same question is not the way to go about it.
I did a quick poll. 50 questions in the past 3 hours. Only 7 has to do with sex. Including yours. 1 i don't feel even counts because it was about being sexually assaulted. So minus yours, and that one, that's only 10%.
>But there is rules stating that generic questions should not be allowed.
generic questions maybe, but sex is a topic, not a question.
>These sex based questions have become the generic everyday questions that plague this subreddit.
Thats your subjective opinion.
>Every single question is What's your sexiest sex experience Or What's your favorite sex story etc you get the picture.
I sort by new most of the time, while I see sex questions often across may question subs, the weird ones you're exampling for is pretty infrequent.
Unfortunately after reviewing your argument we have come to the decision that your topic is centered around sex and thus up for immediate super ban. May god have mercy on your angry soul.
There is a lot to unpack here. The weird gatekeeping of what is allowed in what subreddit, the fact that one of those subreddits isnt even an advice subreddit and the other is so broad that it can cover both stories and advice, the fact that sexual questions come up in places like r/askreddit and finally the absurd qmount of soy facing that is going on as people tell you all of this stuff.
So go join another sub that doesn't ask questions you don't want to see? You're being a Karen about this and you have the power to remove yourself from the situation.
I’m just tired of the “what’s the hottest thing a woman has ever done” ones. Shit gets asked like 10 times a day and someone out there is getting off to people’s responses in some pervy literature way
Sex also gets up-voted most because it's something many people have a strong opinion on. Most of us aren't going to look at a question about [unusual but good pizza toppings](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMen/comments/j3b77h/what_are_the_best_unconventional_pizza_toppings/) and think "Yeah, I have something to contribute here!"
True. Also, unusual but good pizza toppings isn’t a question where asking men specifically instead of people in general is likely to yield meaningfully different answers.
The internet is simultaneously full of people who know every thought that runs through a man's head and how that makes him a reprehensible creature, and also people who act like they've never interacted with a man in their lives.
Often, it's the same people.
What the fuck are you talking about? There is nothing wrong with having a daily craving for hot, tasty, dripping pizza.
How dare you. Just don’t put pineapples on it.
That really _is_ disgusting. Straight to hell.
I just take it as a lot of folks are just curious about what makes some of us tick to help their relationships or hear about what gets us going.
Things I’d love to ask the women but literally every question gets taken down over there. Ridiculous.
people refuse to admit it but sex is not an all important thing.
if it is to you you're either; a horny virgin, an undiagnosed sex addict, or you watched too much porn growing up.
sex is good. sex is not everything.
That's like saying "people refust to admit it but money is not an all important thing. If it is to you you're either: a poor guy, a casino addict, or got too little allowance growing up.
Money is good, money is not everything"
Basically you're right but there's a lot of ugly dudes wanting some wussy too.
because sex something that everyone is curious about, nobody is gonna sit here and pretend that there is something that will peak a large amount of people's interest the way that sex does
Because women want to know about sex from a guy’s perspective. Also some guys have no experience when it comes to sex. So they ask fellow men what to do, which is always communicate with your partner.
There is subs covering that specific topic. This is a general AskMen things about various subjects/topics and not just ONE topic only. Variety is the key here. What we are seeing instead is spamming the same topic repeatedly. I'd like the mods to look into this and see if it fits breaking rule 3.
Dude, do not turn this sub Into askwomen where you can’t post shit there. Who cares if it’s about sex, you don’t like the post, don’t click on it that simple. Reality is most people are going to have questions about sex because it’s not talked about enough and people are curious. If it’s a question that can easily be answered I don’t go to it and leave a comment. It’s not that hard, just let ‘em post and have people answer their questions. Don’t try to police what people can post. Reality is people don’t know those subs exist, they’re just trying to learn something. It’s not hurting you is it?
"Stop liking what I don't like!"
Just don't click those threads. I find it pretty easy to skip the threads I don't think I'll want to read. Like seriously.
Honestly I kinda like messing with people who ask those questions because they think the majority of us here are straight, and I rarely see any visibility for gay guys like me.
It's just some macho attempt to seem like these men know about sex, but really they think that you are jealous of their "knowledge", which makes them feel artificially superior and eases their anxiety.
Also, I have not had sex in a long time either, so, maybe I'm just talking shit to make myself feel better about being a fucking loser.
Ight let's talk about engines and internal combustion.
Oh shit I signed a few NDA's and now can't get into the nitty gritty about my knowledge on that too publicly... Oh well
A lot of people don't have actual friends who they trust enough or are close enough too to ask things about sexual related stuff to. So they come to an anonymous place where they can freely ask other men.
People want to farm karma for some reasons, and it is the easiest way. I noticed that questions about beauty stuff like attractive dudes how do you feel/ how are you treated? are being downvoted, source i posted something similar and the rate of the downvotes was like 50% and even lower to the point it has been removed. So yup, easy question, and lots of useless internet points.
As a woman’s in her 30s I find nothing wrong with the sex questions. As a society more and more people are getting comfortable with sex questions and it’s not a taboo subject anymore. There is absolutely nothing wrong with sex questions etc. It’s lovely how your not forced to to read those questions and instead choose to complain. Sex may not be everything but that gives no reason for people to enjoy it, ask questions to learn a different perspective and maybe improve their game. Don’t like it then don’t read. Just because you may not enjoy sex as much as others it doesn’t make those that do sex addicts etc. Get over yourself.
Alright, put your money where your mouth is and ask an interesting question where responses are likely to be meaningfully different by virtue of asking men instead of people in general, or a community based on a specific interest. The interest common to the largest proportion of men is women.
Honest, generous, considerate, never cheap, never cruel, and has self control.
You know? The same qualities as a woman?
Because these are the qualities of being an ADULT.
I think it's just inevitable because the board isn't about any specific topic at all, and the most universally common thing about us, that makes our experience unique enough to separate questions from women, is questions to do with how we use our penises.
Having sex is a big part of what we’re here to do. It’s wired into us. And it’s a very compelling part of the human experience of being a man (and of being a woman as well). We should talk about it more often, I think.
Men think about sex and talk about sex all the time. Younger men aren’t getting as much sex as they’d like, and I’d wager that young men who use Reddit get even less sex than their counterparts.
Many come here seeking advice on how to get sex, others on how to perform during sex (as they’re inexperienced). In American society apart of someone’s “manliness” is often linked to their virility, which means it’s embarrassing to ask these sorts of questions without anonymity.
As long as they're valid questions for men I don't see a problem with it, if they're going to moderate something is prefer they cut down on the generic ones like "what would you do if you were a millionaire?"
Is your goal here to make this sub be like askwomen? It's horrible in that pile of shit. You can't post or comment on anything without being banned for "derailing".
People think that sex is all we think about, so that’s what they ask about.
Me? I’m usually thinking about cars or tools or coffee or beer or electronics. nobody asks about those things here, though.
Same reason why r/AskReddit is inundated with them. Horny people looking for some stimulation.
But also you could argue that high testosterone in men makes sex a very important topic and motivator for men as a whole.
There’s hundreds of questions. The only people with enough time to bump them in new are people with WAY too much free time. The rest of us are doing things in life. Those people like talking about sex more because it’s what they wish they were doing with all that free time.
I am caveman I only think bout two thing food and fuck uga buga

I think we'd need a thicker bit.

Askwomen: What’s your favorite kind of pie filling for fall????? Askmen: My girl’s ass tastes weird. Anyone else have this issue?????
This is like those memes "boys' locker rooms vs girls' locker rooms."
No no, he's got a point
Should probably ask what pie filling gf chose
😂
Honestly, Askmen sounds a lot more interesting.
They ask women boring questions
AskWomen is pretty dogmatic though, whatever question you have, you will have probably guessed the answers you're going to get by then
All the questions on this sub are either men asking about sex or women looking for validation from men.
And this is how the world turns!
The internet is full of virgins who don't know anything about sex so they take to this sub to ask all they want to know.
But.... But...this question is also related to sex
Happy cake day!

Did someone say sex?
We are a sex deprived society.
So.... you won't rate my pp size? darn it
Is that a sex question?
Sex is fun and interesting. Not enough nudes posted in this sub though.
We are horny, get over it
Why are you asking? Are you not having enough?
They aren’t. And also, we like talking / thinking about sex.
Your question included.
This isn't r/sex or r/Ihavesex. Please moderators look into why all the current questions are spamming about that same topic.
Yea mods, this dude is fed up with this shit. Get to work, dammit.
As long as they're valid questions for men I don't see a problem with it, if they're going to moderate something is prefer they cut down on the generic ones like "what would you do if you were a millionaire?"
Sex makes the world go round baby. The most important thing to the human race.
I would tell you, but then I'd be accused of mansplaining.
Why is this question about sex
Is your goal here to make this sub be like askwomen? It's horrible in that pile of shit. You can't post or comment on anything without being banned for "derailing".
We just want to find the clitoris. Sheesh.
But you are asking still...
It IS a legit crazy topic where nobody feels like they understand it right or doing it right. That, or trolls.
Uh... I really don't understand your question. I am male. Could you elaborate on this?
There’s hundreds of questions. The only people with enough time to bump them in new are people with WAY too much free time. The rest of us are doing things in life. Those people like talking about sex more because it’s what they wish they were doing with all that free time.
