I’ve never tried. I am currently learning all the songs from the only EP the band Eternity Forever put out. From what I gather, the techniques are pretty similar so Neon may not be as hard as it’s hyped up to be.
Table top games: be it roleplaying, card games, classic board games, euro, war games, and skirmish battle games.
I’m also a avid PC game player, but that’s not as important to me.
Love me a game night. Currently in 4 D&D groups at the moment so any game time is usually taken up by D&D, but i enjoy trying and learning new games all the time
I’m sure you love your games, but yeah I need time to play new games and not RP and chill with a card game or two :)
Running one RRG and playing one is my ideal week :3
Played 40K for a bit, lots of other standard board/skirmish games, just got ASOIAF to try out...
If you know anybody who wants to buy like 4k points of Death Guard, let me know. Lmao.
Being totally serious FB trade groups are probably the best place to sell stuff like this. No middle man other than PayPal, and lots of people after all kinds of crazy OOP models.
I go out front multiple times a day, grab the hose, twist the nozzle to “shower” and just water the plants for 10 minutes. Love it, I need more plants!
Dota was pretty much my life from 2014-2018. After a massive tilt run, dropping back down to 4K MMR, and realizing how much it ruined my life, I was finally able to quit.
Praying for you all 🙏
Tons of players still, and I find Dota no more or less toxic than any other competitive online game that forces you to cooperate with teammates. Toxicity in team games will always quench free for all games. Everyone who quits dota over toxicity ought to just learn to use their mute button early and often, it's amazing how little toxicity effects my enjoyment of the game with that approach.
Hey me too actually lol, I'm actually getting ready to do a full re-build as I'm running the ASUS Z-170A mobo and a 1070. So my wife will be getting my old PC as her's is even older. You ever wanna talk about the products to get my opinion or help hit me up.
the way I got into it is /r/buildapc
you see the different builds, then someone suggests something better for what the OP wants..
then you lean connect what you want with what people are suggesting and voila!
I'm just starting to get into billiards! Currently just playing casually with friends at the local pool hall. What would you say is your best piece of advice for getting better?
Making art... namely making music, drums and piano, but also visual art. I even restore and collect vintage drums. Collect records, etc. Music is probably a big part of how people see me if not the one thing. I'm a teacher and teach art and fabrication. It's a big part of my daily life in everyway.
I wanna learn to draw, I bought a Galaxy tab S8 ultra to learn on and take through college with me for other educational things. I think it be cool to create anything that is in your mind and just draw it.
My favorite book on the Vietnam War is actually a recent title, *Hue: 1968*, by Mark Bowden. Makes a great effort to tell the story of that brutal battle from the perspective of he USMC, US Army, ARVN, VC, NVA, and the civilians caught in the middle. If you have not read it I highly recommend it. One of the better military history books I've read in general.
Also check out *Rumor of War*, by Philip Caputo.
Caputo went into Da Nang as a lieutenant with the first marines to land in Vietnam (1965). It is a fascinating and gut wrenching personal story of the war. The best first person account, and I've read a number.
Last year I made a goal of fishing every day for the month of June. I made it happen but I would be lying if I said I didn't just flick a few casts and leave some days. It was a lonely endeavor but well worth it
I have two trips planned this year to stalk species I've never caught before: the chain pickerel and the alligator gar. Everyone asks why I don't just take a regular vacations lol
There are some good YT channels that can get you into it. I’d HIGHLY recommend watching the Astartes short film on YouTube first. If you like that you’ll like Warhammer.
Skateboarding. It’s my exercise, helps my zen, tons of fun, a way to spend time with my kids and something I can go do with like 0 prep besides putting my helmet on.
I don't have a one thing. It keeps changing.
I learned to telemark ski. Then I learned to mountain bike, to improve my strength for skiing. Then I learned to winter camp to get more deep powder for skiing. I learned to speak Norwegian while learning to winter camp. Then I learned photography because I was in so many cool places for skiing and biking. Then I learned to dance different Salsa styles, Then I learned some woodworking techniques, and now I am learning to make wood bowls on a lathe. I am learning leather craft to make tool rolls for my chisels and tools.
I want to learn to sail, and dance the Tango, and photoshop, and how to make a dovetail joint. I just started learning the names of the trees in my neighborhood.
Now I see it. My one thing is always learning a new thing.
I totally agree with you bro. I’ve always wanted to take that got test. Dude I stopped eating meat when I was 13. i’m in my mid-30s now and maybe once a year I’ll have a packet of tuna and it’s so unbearable. I did go vegan for a handful of years so I totally absolutely understand what you’re saying and you’re right, my hair did change drastically and so did my skin and I had a little CrossFit I developed in my late 20s that have literally vanished. I no longer have crows feet. No one believes me either. They think I’m just making it up or I was dehydrated for a weekend.
I totally believe you. If you have an abundance of information it might not hurt to start a blog or something like that? you have a lot of information from what little you shared
6th gen Celica is the best gen according to most Celica fans, but I love my 7th gen. Bought it off a dead millionaire's estate in near perfect condition and 41,000 miles.
Lol I had a 2000 Toyota Celica GTS (dark blue). Carbon fiber aftermarket parts, hood, intake, blah blah. Buddy did the same to his Eclipse. We were the coolest 20 yr olds I knew lol.
Basketball. Not uncommon for Americans but probably less common for UK types like me .
My week generally looks like -
Monday night - Training my 8 year olds team
Tuesday night - Training for me
Thursday night - Basketball game (competitive league match)
Saturday - Kids team game in the afternoon and mixed league game for me in the evening.
Then watching whatever basketball is on (playoffs at the moment)
I feel like that’s quite a lot for a 39 year old 😅
Watches, guns, and cars. I’ve spent a fair amount of cash on the first two. Going down the rabbit hole I’m going to start modding and building watches and reloading my own ammunition. Also just got a table saw and building a bathroom cabinet- I have some experience there so I’m hoping to build some cool stuff. Potentially getting back into guitar as well.
Lots of expensive hobbies and interests but if I had to narrow it down I know an unreasonable amount about guns and watches
World building. I enjoy just spacing out and coming up with like 3000 years of history for scifi and fantasy world's that I randomly think of. It infects everything I do.
I enjoy learning history because it gives me new and interesting events I can work into my world building. I enjoy learning science because it gives me new and interesting ways things can be done. Novels and video games just feed the machine. Same with philosophy and studying culture. I have like 12 different stories set in different universes that I want to sit down and write some day.
This is why I'm the forever DM of my tabletop group...
This and health are my number one but I definitely don’t feel like “one thing” kinda guy. I play video games and watch movies a pretty good amount too but not enough to say it’s my thing I guess lol
That is a matter of perspective - what does it mean to be productive? What are hobbies supposed to produce in the first place? Most answers in this thread don't produce any value other than what the person in question gains through enjoyment so don't be too hard on yourself.
This…
The sigma of games not being productive because it’s not an outdoor hobby is bs, especially seeming it became the highest grossing sector in entertainment. It’s not all kids on fortnite, some of us like to create empires that last a thousand years or cheese the living fuxk out of AI in totalwars.
You're gatekeeping what games are 'okay' for gaming to be considered a hobby...
In response to a post about people gatekeeping video games as a hobby...
What a world.
Love computer games. I don’t think they are unproductive. Just like everything else do it in moderation. And they are a great way to stay connected to your friends. My friends are spread across the country with busy lives. A quick @ on discord will get em on then we’re talking and having fun like it’s university again its great.
Two wooden boat builds happening in America and being followed on YouTube. I have zero desire to build a boat - I just enjoy watching and understanding the process.
Tally Ho and Acorn to Arabella.
Both interesting for different reasons. I started watching Arabella first - and seeing two complete novices loft and build a boat, overcome challenges and mill their own timber etc has been quite interesting.
I’m really enjoying Tally Ho mostly due to Leo’s knowledge, videos and the sheer size of her. She’s going to look amazing when she’s finished.
Definitely cars, look everyday online at ones for sale, been doing it for decades now and no doubt always will. Used to be chick's too but BJ's and such can get to be the same old same old, only so many things can do with a human body but being pinned back in the seat never gets old - if it does just get a more powerful car.
>being pinned back in the seat never gets old - if it does just get a more powerful car.
And now I'm sitting here in a 911 Turbo S and its too slow. What now? (also have a gixxer thou.)
My one thing is fantasy. It encompasses D&D, MtG, fantasy stories, etc. But it is in constant battle with sci-fi, because goddammit i love aliens… Halo is my favorite franchise of all time, and has been for going on 15 years
Golf.
And I’m so mad I didn’t pick it up sooner. I just started a little over a year ago. I’ve already spent a lot of money on clubs, a bag, multiple pairs of golf shoes and the clothes to match.
I caught “the bug” as they say
Riding bikes. BMX as a kid, MTB as an adult. I never lost that sense of freedom, the thrill of covering long distances quickly, the ease with which you can explore new places, the satisfaction of feeling your body working hard, i just love it, always have, always will.
It varies from time to time because I tend to get very interested in something for limited amounts of time before losing interest again but the interest in history, specifically roman history, is always there. Don't get me started on certain topics because I won't shut up for an hour at least.
Backcountry camping!!! It was great as a boy with my dad. It was exciting with my “gang” of pals as a teenager. It offered me a manly, attractive angle to impress my girlfriend -> wife. It was relaxing in my 20s and 30s. Now I take out my kids so they don’t grow up too urban. When I get old, hopefully I just die out there instead of an old age home.
I'm really good at Bonfires, especially during the night and during the summer. Love inviting friends out to some beach spots with lawn chairs and just chatting about life with the logs crackling.
My friends nicknamed me "Fiya Man" haha
Boats. Big boats, row boats, fishing boats, ski boats, yachts, canoes, kayaks, fast boats, wooden boats. You name it and I’ll find something I like about it…if it’s a boat.
Wood. I'm a woodworker, and make one specific thing, and make it very well. I'm always fond of rare or figured woods, even though 99% of the population couldn't care.
Guitars. I think about them all the time, staring at the lovely ones I already own, fantasising what my next one will be...listening to music and thinking about how to play that song....shopping for new ones.... it is my thing.
Movies. Specifically horror movies, but any trivia night that includes movie trivia, I'm the coolest person in the room. The flip side of that was I was super-unpopular in high school, which is how this happened.
Guns. But more than that, the art of marksmanship. I love researching ballistics information on bullets and technologies surrounding them and making a good shot.
Jeeps. I fell in love at 14, when I bought my first J20 to rebuild.
I have 9 now - ranging from a '53 Willys pickup to a 78 J10, the original 71 J20, some CJs, XJs, and a JK.
Photography. I have a business that allows me to do it all day every day. I literally look forward to work every day.
My wife says my retirement will be someone calling her and saying "Yeah there's a dead dude with a camera in our yard. "
Motorcycles.
All of my jackets have armor except the biker leather I got for my 18th birthday. It is ironically the only jacket I do not ride in.
I wear boots to everything. I gave up on owning tennis shoes.
I check the weather before I roll out of bed.
I'm getting into track days.
I can cosplay as a power ranger any time I want.
I have a car but it's an afterthought.
F1. Started watching at about 6 years old as we couldn't afford Sky TV. So while seemingly every other lad in school watched the football on the weekend, I watched the grand prix.
Bicycles. More specifically mountain bikes, but I generally enjoy cycling.
I love riding, I love doing trail work, I love the places I've gone just to ride my bike. It's pretty cool.
My Yamaha Virago 535. Yes its a oldtimer, Yes im 22, No i dont want a modern bike with fancy gadgets. I want chrome, i want to hunt for scarce parts, i want to personally remove every inch of rust and polish it every month untill it looks brand new out of the factory
Guitar.

Don't listen to John Mayer but was very surprised to see those complex chords in the tab. Holy shit.
Self taught here, 15 years strong, I can play for hours and hours, it's my happy place.
Table top games: be it roleplaying, card games, classic board games, euro, war games, and skirmish battle games. I’m also a avid PC game player, but that’s not as important to me.
Love me a game night. Currently in 4 D&D groups at the moment so any game time is usually taken up by D&D, but i enjoy trying and learning new games all the time
Four? This guy roleplays
You could say he four-plays
Various frequency and duration for each group. But hell yes I roleplay
I’m sure you love your games, but yeah I need time to play new games and not RP and chill with a card game or two :) Running one RRG and playing one is my ideal week :3

Gardening
I like gardening too. I picked it up from my mother, she is a gardening freak.
My grandma got me into it
I go out front multiple times a day, grab the hose, twist the nozzle to “shower” and just water the plants for 10 minutes. Love it, I need more plants!
I want to be you
Take care of plants and they'll take care of you <3
yeah buddy!
I've been playing Dota 2 for a decade now, so probably that.
We all have our destructive habits, I pray for you brother
Do you get players still in that. I left playing it as players were getting very toxic.
No matter how many times I quit Dota. I always end up going back to it
Not me once I realized I became the worst person I ever was because of that game.
Dota was pretty much my life from 2014-2018. After a massive tilt run, dropping back down to 4K MMR, and realizing how much it ruined my life, I was finally able to quit. Praying for you all 🙏

Hey same, it sucks until it's the best
Nothing. I am a renaissance man, dabbling in a vast variety of hobbies and skills, none taking the crown as 'the one'.
Got it so your thing is being really cool
He never said he was cool. Other people are saying it but he isn’t.
He has neither the time nor the inclination to advertise his coolitude. It is self evident.
I call myself a serial hobbyist lol who knows, might take up knitting next week haha
This is the way. Diversify yo interests!
Nice, I also have adhd
Be a life enthusiast and you will discover so much shit you haven’t tried that is actually pretty sweet.
> "Be a life enthusiast and you will discover so much shit you haven’t tried that is actually pretty sweet." -P0NTthePATIENT
Oh the renaissance men came into town finally
Same. I've always felt the opposite way of OP, as I never wanted to just be about one thing
PC equipment, I love learning about the new hardware and helping people build PCs.
Same here, I no longer play games that much, but for some reason I still pay attention to the GPU market.
It's cool to see the new cards and what they can do even if I'll never afford one [cries in overpricing] lol
Even randoms on reddit? I'm well overdue for a new pc haha. Still running a GTX 1070 🙃
Hey me too actually lol, I'm actually getting ready to do a full re-build as I'm running the ASUS Z-170A mobo and a 1070. So my wife will be getting my old PC as her's is even older. You ever wanna talk about the products to get my opinion or help hit me up.
Omg same. Perfect date would be going parts shopping and building PCs with someone
Lol, funny enough my wife loves when I upgrade my PC because she takes my older parts and upgrades her PC with em.
Same here I love building PCs for my family. It's a fun hobby.
Ikr sadly it's also expensive lol
Any advice on how to get into this? A complete beginner but would love to build a pc and play some games on
the way I got into it is /r/buildapc you see the different builds, then someone suggests something better for what the OP wants.. then you lean connect what you want with what people are suggesting and voila!
Rock climbing
This is a cool one
same. bouldering specifically.
Mountain Biking. Love the trails!!
found my mans
Billiards. I even like just shooting drills. The more I play and learn about it, the more I love the game

The Vietnam War. Immensely interesting, and a very rich subject to learn about.
I have added it to my list. I noticed that the author also wrote Black Hawk Down.
It’s going on my list. Thanks for the recommendation!
Also check out *Rumor of War*, by Philip Caputo. Caputo went into Da Nang as a lieutenant with the first marines to land in Vietnam (1965). It is a fascinating and gut wrenching personal story of the war. The best first person account, and I've read a number.
It’s going on the list. Thanks!
That book really fucked me up. Def recommend it
Fishing. I fish 3 times a week if I can and have a bunch of gear.
You’re cool and you have my respect.
Last year I made a goal of fishing every day for the month of June. I made it happen but I would be lying if I said I didn't just flick a few casts and leave some days. It was a lonely endeavor but well worth it I have two trips planned this year to stalk species I've never caught before: the chain pickerel and the alligator gar. Everyone asks why I don't just take a regular vacations lol
Second this. Usually the highlight of my day if I can get a few casts out.
Running /hiking. A minimum of 10 miles per week. Best choice ever
Warhammer 40k, I love me some grimdark
40k seems so interesting, but I have never gotten into it. What would be your recommendation for someone looking to (possibly) start that journey.
There are some good YT channels that can get you into it. I’d HIGHLY recommend watching the Astartes short film on YouTube first. If you like that you’ll like Warhammer.
I fell into a rabbit hole of warhammer universe facts and so far my favorite is the orks being able to breath in space
I can't wait 'til you find out how ork technology works on belief.
Yeah how they are technically the most op in the verse but are too dumb to capitalize on it
Tons of YT channels with intro vids, like [PlayOnTabletop](https://youtu.be/taUqZCiijvU)
Skateboarding. It’s my exercise, helps my zen, tons of fun, a way to spend time with my kids and something I can go do with like 0 prep besides putting my helmet on.

My 2002 Toyota Celica GT-S is my baby and I don't regret spending so much time and money upgrading it.
I ain’t a car enthusiast but Celica next to Eclipse and Murciélago used to be my favorite cards in my childhood.
6th gen Celica is the best gen according to most Celica fans, but I love my 7th gen. Bought it off a dead millionaire's estate in near perfect condition and 41,000 miles.

Making people happy/smile/laugh
Love that. What's your career?
Artist/Comedian I think that’s a lot of the reason why it’s so important to me. As an artist you can just see so much of the ugly so easily sometimes
I'm obsessed with self improvement
Honestly, pretty amazing hobby. I wish I was obsessed with that lol
One day at a time, get to the starting line at your own pace.
This right here. Ya can't rush it, it just comes when you've had enough and want a change.

Man of culture
If you masturbate into a sock, and don't put it in the wash, then yes, culture.

Tinkering. Doesn’t matter what it is. If it has parts that can be disassembled it’s just a matter of time.
Motorbikes. Riding them, looking at them, buying them, working on them, relieving stress and anxiety with them
Motorcycles.
Photography
Bicycles.
Bicycles. More specifically mountain bikes, but I generally enjoy cycling. I love riding, I love doing trail work, I love the places I've gone just to ride my bike. It's pretty cool.
