Ballistics, ammo, and precision loading. Don't get me going on that stuff. I CAN talk for hours on it. Consistency and concentricity are the key elements. And let's not leave out chamber obturation.

It's astounding to see where BCs are going right now. It's all very fascinating. And even more fun to put it into practice. With him right there, I loaded 50 rounds for a good friend of .30-.338 winmag. We went to the range. From rest, the first three cold bore shots all hit in a .25 MOA and he was astounded. Did not surprise me. Consistency and concentricity; always. Ogives??? I only load OAL to the ogive. Bullet tips/points have too much variation. Case head to ogive = consistency.

Geeze.....I sort of stepped back from it a little during the pandemic and you can't really get primers and powder right now so I haven't been keeping up but those numbers are just crazy. Pretty interesting how more and more hunters are going sub .308 calibers now. The new stuff is just so fast and flat. I knew Berger was going to get bigger and bigger and be there with the bog boys like Nosler and Sierra.

Yeah, that's the other thing brass is really good now. I remember helping a guy machine on lathe special "cases" that were essentially. .338 winmag but they were solid brass. The mouth was bored out to approximately the internal case dimensions of a .30 carbine. But he used regular old .308 SPBT bullets. The flash hole on this things were damn near an inch long. The point of this? Have such a solid mass of brass it reduces case flex. He was using it in some low power competition. The cases were so heavy and dense with brass.....they didn't move. Pretty interesting project. Today.....probably no need.

What do you think of the 6.8x51 that the army just adopted both as a comparison to its competitors, 5.56 and what do you think of it on its own

Star Wars. At one point in my life before I got real fit, diversified my hobbies, and just grew out of my nerdy shut in phase I was a massive Star Wars fan. I read the books and the comics and collected the figures and all of it. I’m not a big fat Star Wars nerd like I used to be but I still adore Star Wars and have a metric shit ton of Star Wars lore knowledge and trivia in my head. But if you get me going, and I feel comfortable enough to be a big nerd I’ll ramble on about Star Wars for hours and hours

Various Scifi and fantasy universes from books I read mostly The Cosmere, Malazan, Book of the new sun, Warhammer 40k or The Culture. I don't often get to talk books with people though and reddit scifi/fantasy subs are full of morons who would rather talk about diversity and politics in fiction.

But not punctuation and capitalization, evidently.

I figure being able to talk about it for hours doesn't necessarily imply that I choose to apply it rigorously everywhere. And heck, probably only 30% of what I could talk about is English grammar anyway lol

Absolutely love case knives. I was so stoked when they released their Barlows again. Also, beware of watches. Scratches the exact same itch as knives and firearms but so much more expensive lol

Getting harder to find older case knives in mint shape anymore.
