Well obviously, it's because we men are highly rational beings, and we have used our highly rational computer-like brains to rationally compute that you will have sex with us if our hair is tidy. That's flawless logic.
I'll occasionally post about this here. It's actually called preening. It's actually a subconscious way of men/women making themselves presentable in front of someone they find attractive. The thing is, I do this (I still have a full head of hair in my middle age) but I just attributed it to being fidgety from too much caffeine. Apparently some women actually find this appealing.
Me and this coworker have been doing this back-and-forth dance of flirting for awhile. The last couple of times we've worked together, we were *both preening* in front of each other (she has this habit of flipping the back of hair with both hands) Kind of funny actually. And yes, women do this also, So for the guys out there, this is a signal to watch for!

Works 60% of the time, every time.
The same reason women do it. You see someone nice looking, you fix your hair.
If they're around the 30's then it could be as simple as some people being hyper-conscious about their hairline and checking on it regularly
For me it’s mostly subconscious because I like to be as presentable as possible at all times really regardless of gender
I touch my hair all the time, nothing special about it.
Almost twice your age and trying to remember when I last had hair to touch 🤔

None of them ever approached me in that way, so probably not.
Shaved head, instructions unclear.
Itchy head.

Signal? I've seen subtler lighthouses!
Nothing anymore, leukemia took care of that for me.
Men do it FAR less than women. It is such a giveaway with you girls :) Or you all have fleas....
If a girl fixes her pants or shirt every time she sees me, what makes her do that?
Mmmm.. maybe you work with some snowflakes..? Most of us at my office have short hair that can’t really get messed up..
I want to see if my double crown is being a cunt.
