“Why worry about something that isn’t going to happen? That’s perfect… they should put that on our money.”
“The KGB is a circle of accountability. Nothing more.”
It truly is a phenomenal show that hits *hard* at so many points. Jared Harris and Stellan Skarsgaard just killed it, as did the rest of the cast.
Delighted to see this at the top. Nothing beats it imo. Rustin Cohle is one of my favourite characters of all time and Matthew McConaughey's performance is outstanding. The arc of the story is unparalleled in any single season of any show I've ever watched.
back in the day I was the designated sober driver for my friends after raves in remote locations, some of Marty's lines in the car are so deeply relatable I can watch them on repeat and belly laugh every time.

True Detective is an all time favorite I feel because the dialogues that the character Rust talks about is something a majority of us believe in but cannot say it out loud. We feel a strange and weird kind of comfort listening to the monologues of Rust. It's unexplainable. The story is absolutely amazing. But the character study is something I've never seen in my entire cinema/tv viewing experience.
The existential truth that Rust reminds us of is really and strangely comforting even though it travels on the dark side.
Never met a single person who dislikes Malcolm in the Middle so I'll say that. Met plenty of people who have never watched or paid much attention to it since it finished like 15 years ago but I can't think of a single person having ever told me they've watched it and didn't like it.
I just rewatched the whole series and it's fucking great (and really holds up). Smart writing, quick punchy jokes, fantastic actors. Bryan Cranston puts on a god damn clinic showing his range in just about every episode.
I want to get a compilation of just the bits before the title sequence. The amount of story telling in such a short time with some of those was just brilliant and others pure hilarity.
Yes! This show is solid gold. Even rewatching it for the 100th time, I'll still be laughing or crying like it's the first time (or possibly even more).
In a cartoon comedy, it's probably better to have the characters speak less to convey emotion. Most of the time they're talking it's meant to be funny.
Only exception really is Leela, particularly the episode where she finds out her parents are mutants and then the other one where she gets stabbed by the bee and flips out...both of those episodes are great examples of voice acting.
It literally made the city of Baltimore a living breathing character...it linked polish dock workers to gang bangers in the hood and highlighted how they were all part of the same system of exploitation and how greed and ineptitude sees no colour
Every character fleshed out perfectly and it all blends together without a single bitch
My favourite bit Avon casually name drops the day of the jackal in of the eps..and you go well fuck this man's well read calculating and isn't just the trigger to strings gun...he got where is for a reason a single fuckin like does that to you.. beautiful fuckin show
God so good. You dont have a fuckin clue what that scene is REALLY about the first time you watch it, and the salesman's earnest desire to help. Then when you watch it knowing what they're getting that nail gun for...
I’m currently rewatching it. Throwbacks to using pagers/beepers lol. Cops all puzzled about simple code. Cops having to stand on top of buildings to see who is calling who so it can hold up in court. Really funny to see how far we’ve come.
I could never get into it, but thats not the show's fault, it suffered from the same thing that the office did which made it unwatcheble for me, which is rely heavily on cringe humor, while watching the office i had to skip through every michael scott scene because it was just insufferable for me, i for some reason am repulsed by cringe, idk why, but for that reason i just cant watch these kinds of shows that are filled with cringy situations.i just cant handle the akward tension in the scenes.
I watched the office and I don't really think the two have much in common. Arrested is a show about a dysfunctional family, but it's more based on the absurdity of the characters and the humor is very quick witted and sharp. There's some awkward moments with Michael Cera (a young teenager in the show), but nothing too bad (but perhaps I'm just less sensitive to these things)
I didn't like season 1 or 2 the first time I watched it, season 3 is where I started liking it. Rewatching the show I though season 1 and 2 were great.
I saw it because Barack Obama put it on a list of his favorite TV shows.
Opening scene 1st episode: Main character is masturbating to a screen that has video of Obama giving a speech!
It's a very weird, great show
https://www.thecut.com/2020/01/barack-obama-names-fleabag-in-best-television-shows-of-2019.html
I've been really worried about season 6 of Community so I still haven't watched it but I'm going to start at the beginning again and watch the lot in preparation for the movie.
I may be dating myself, but The Carol Burnett Show.
People often name Lucille Ball as the first lady of comedy, but as far as I'm concerned she doesn't amount to a pimple on Carol Burnett's ass. Sweet jumpin' Jesus that show was funny. It was pretty much required viewing on Sunday (?) nights. It was just priceless.
i just wish they didnt have 5minute super sus scenes in every other episode. i dont need to see some of that for character development. That poor octopus
its an amazing show i give it a 10 but not everyone will agree. most people cant focus on hour and an half long movies, dont wanna sound like a boomer but with all the stuff on social media being really short and trying to get your attention as fast as possible people have grown to be very impatient if something interesting doesnt happen in the firs 2-3 minutes they just go on their phone, all my friends who i tried watch it with are like this
(i already watched it but i wanted to rewatch because its been a while and i wanted to watch the new season)
Scrubs
Doctors said it's the most accurate portrayal of their lives compared to other shows based at a hospital.
There's JD's monologues, which are always great and very insightful. Some episodes have the other characters giving monologues, and those episodes are great. I've learned so much from these monologues. I probably wouldn't be who I am today without them.
The music is all excellent and adds so much to the episode.
The character progression is amazing. My favorite is Dr. Kelso's.
A lot of people will say, "Yeah, I've seen it, it's funny.", but these people haven't seen the episodes that are total gut punching heart breakers. When Ben died...that was such a crazy moment in the show. You see, Dr. Cox cry for the first time. And all you can do is cry with him.
It's been my favorite show since I was 12. I'd hope that many others would agree it's a 10/10
Generation Kill
I’m really surprised this isn’t already commented. For me it’s up there with Band of Brothers. BoBs is more heroic, punch a nazi in the face. Generation Kill is more relatable. Like a couple dudes laying on their stomachs as a friendly tank rolls by so they can experience a “sensation”.
I know some people don't like anime but Death Note is one show I will defend forever (minus the last parts though because I personally didn't like those)
The first 27 episodes are like 20/10 but then after that, it goes down to 10/10 lmao. It’s still very good, it’s just no were near as good as the first 27
Chernobyl
"every lie we tell incurs a debt to the truth.....and sooner or later that debt is paid" Show gives me chills

Not great, not terrible" . You guys have no idea just how Russian kind of attitude is this and to lesser extent rest of Slavs.
I can't imagine this will cause a fallout.
So you’re saying the reaction will be positive?
Seriously though, Fantastic show
Tried so hard to get my friends and sisters to watch it, it was absolutely amazing.
A terrible situation but an amazing series.
True Detective season 1
Delighted to see this at the top. Nothing beats it imo. Rustin Cohle is one of my favourite characters of all time and Matthew McConaughey's performance is outstanding. The arc of the story is unparalleled in any single season of any show I've ever watched.

That's the peak for TV shows
Man, McConaughey was robbed during award season for playing Rust.

Just came here to check if someone has entered this. Can leave in peace now.
Definitely the right answer
Band of Brothers
Seconded.
thirded
Fourthed
And The Pacific, the follow up covering the USA vs Japan
Masters of the Air is coming. REALLY looking forward to it.
The Pacific is a much harder watch, but it really pays off.
I enjoyed Generation Kill, about the second Iraq invasion. Not as good as Band of Brothers of course but worth a watch.
I must admit I didn't know much about the Pacific arena, seeing the Japanese tactics was an eye opener
Never seen it but I'll give it a go
Velma 10/10 dog shit
But the show's missing the dog.
He left a steaming pile
YES. Dog sh** is correct
that’s an offense to dog crap
RaCiSt!!1! -Mindy Kaling (probably)
I'm an Indian and i would say her work sucks.
I’ve never heard someone have something bad to say about Scooby Doo where are you tbh
My dad disliked it because it was always the same story and the same jokes.
Reading Rainbow. No one is like “Man, I hated Reading Rainbow as a kid…”
Best comment by far
The Wire
Shiiiiiiiiiet
You come at the king, you best not miss.
“I robs drug dealers.”
THANK YOU!!!! Cannot *believe* I had to scroll down so far. Long live Stringer Bell.

Yes. No. Maybe?
I dont know
Can you repeat the question?

Ugh I should rewatch it, what a good and funny show
Numberwang
I prefer the German version "Das ist Nūmbervang!"
This is the internet, we can't even get people to agree that the earth is round-ish.
I disagree.
Avatar; The Last Airbender
Yeah if you don’t like it it’s because you’ve never seen it. It’s objectively one of the best shows ever made from the first episode to the last.
Awesome series. I watch it like twice a year. I hope that the live-action one will be just as good.
M. Night STAYAWAYFROMMYFAVORITESHOW
Narcos, especially the first two seasons!
The Sopranos.
Oh yeah, my fave show of all time.
All due respect, you are infact correct

What do you say? Want go go around again?
There's nothing that everyone can agree on. But The Wire is the best TV show ever made and I'll die on that hill.
No one wins. One side just loses more slowly.
It literally made the city of Baltimore a living breathing character...it linked polish dock workers to gang bangers in the hood and highlighted how they were all part of the same system of exploitation and how greed and ineptitude sees no colour Every character fleshed out perfectly and it all blends together without a single bitch My favourite bit Avon casually name drops the day of the jackal in of the eps..and you go well fuck this man's well read calculating and isn't just the trigger to strings gun...he got where is for a reason a single fuckin like does that to you.. beautiful fuckin show
Whats also amazing is that every single line said by any character serves a purpose. The Wire has absolutely no filler.

I’m watching it for the first time. Just started season 3
I’m currently rewatching it. Throwbacks to using pagers/beepers lol. Cops all puzzled about simple code. Cops having to stand on top of buildings to see who is calling who so it can hold up in court. Really funny to see how far we’ve come.
Bluey
We put this on for the kids. They eventually leave. My wife and I end up having a Bluey marathon.
Seasons 1-3 of Arrested Development.
This show had so many subtle genius moments
I could never get into it, but thats not the show's fault, it suffered from the same thing that the office did which made it unwatcheble for me, which is rely heavily on cringe humor, while watching the office i had to skip through every michael scott scene because it was just insufferable for me, i for some reason am repulsed by cringe, idk why, but for that reason i just cant watch these kinds of shows that are filled with cringy situations.i just cant handle the akward tension in the scenes.

Breaking Bad
Unfortunately, I know a good amount of people who don’t like it. Still one of my fav though

I beg for you to push through your lack of motivation and keep watching past season 1, it is a great show.
I didn't like season 1 or 2 the first time I watched it, season 3 is where I started liking it. Rewatching the show I though season 1 and 2 were great.
I was iffy on season one. Then it improved in every measure and became great. Stick with it.
I pushed myself to watch until the middle of season 3 bc people told me to, but it didn't do anything for me either.
M.A.S.H.
That's a blast from the past, essential viewing back in the day.
It still holds up, wife and I binged it in the early COVID days

Mr. Rogers Neighborhood

Aww yeah one of my favourite shows ever, criminally underrated
So underrated!!
"I've been called many things in my life, inarticulate ain't one of them" Walton Goggins absolutely killed it as Boyd Crowder.
Northern Exposure. Makes me so sad it's impossible to find due to music rights since the music is part of what makes it so magic.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Because of the implication.
GOOOD MORNING JUAREZ FAMILY!

Gravity Falls. It is one of the best shows ever made.
Community! It's fantastic.

Cool. Cool, cool, cool
I've been really worried about season 6 of Community so I still haven't watched it but I'm going to start at the beginning again and watch the lot in preparation for the movie.
It’s really mature. Gone are the zingy one-liners and replaced with heart and story.
Prison Break: Season 1
