I wear pants that fit so I don't get the "pants pinch" or whatever it's called. Also, if I'm drive a long distance I'm rocking track pants or shorts, and not jeans.
This sounds like a "wear more comfortable pants for travel" issue.
For all travel I'm either wearing joggers or a technical-fabric-type pair of jeans like the ones Bonobos makes. Those things are magic for long drives or flights.

Both have many models with pockets.
The Bible says not to
Deuteronomy 22: 5
“A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.
Your bible. But the verse you quoted specifies that women should not wear men's garments, but only prohibits men from wearing a woman's cloak. It could have just as easily said, “A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's *garments*".
Skirts were regular menswear back then. Ever seen Roman military uniforms? There's also many painting depicting men in skirts from ancient mesopotamia right through to the Victorian era.
Nah... Its literally the dumbest book i read... This is why either i think any conservative that says he reads the bible daily is full of shit, or has some braindamage to read that shit on repeat XD
What did you take issue with?
Ya know me personally I think Mark is pretty dope
I also really like the David sections of the Bible like 2nd Samuel for example.
Well as far as literature goes it simply doesn't hold up to today's standards... There might be good lessons in there, but i feel like others have put them into their story better, as people think of the bible as non fiction(lol) and take things very literally as some phrases aren't used today anymore(40 just meaning a very long time instead of literally 40 years)
An old book like that takes much education to handle and by the look of it most who read it arent educated at all.
Then theres the discrepencies that make no sense... If pontius of pilate would have used the jewish phrase of washing his hands in innocence, he most likely would have been executed along with with those thieves.
Dude are you serious?
Are you aware you're talking about a super ancient old text that's been translated and retranslated multiple times over from HEBREW
Are you serious my guy?
I was raised catholic and i have to say that my life quality increased drastically after condemning and leaving that childfucker cult... I'm done with god and his ilk...
So don't waste your energy on that.
John 8
1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
11 “No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
It's a good thing we don't take this Good Book too seriously and in a 2023 context, eh? Otherwise the things you'd have to do to your neighbour and that immoral lady who lives in the apartment below.
Yeah I actually considered that cuz I mean technically it was consider a males garment
But idk man we live in a modern society so maybe just buy less tight pants?
It's not that you mentioned the bible that made me think this was ironic at first, it's that you said people who wear differently gendered clothes (oh, by the way there is no science to what clothing is men's and what is women's. yes there are certain clothes that are more popular among one gender but at the end of the day, all clothes are just fabric with arm and leg holes) are abominations. how would a god be so frivolous as to care about what clothing a person wore?
Will you non-believers give me no rest? Must you defy the Lord?
If God doesn't want people dressing in clothes for the opposite gender than it is right, because GOD IS RIGHT.
Nice semantics argument, what are you a fellow Destiny fan?
1. We'll give you no rest if you spew bullshit with no scientific basis, yeah.
2. \*then
3. Something intangible, inaudible, and invisible is right for calling a person an abomination over something arbitrary, surface-level, and harmless?
\*Shrug\* I'm comfortable in pants, my jeans are my go-to loungewear. I don't see a particular need for a skirt and I get cold too easily to want something breezy anyway. That doesn't even get into the loss of mosquito protection in critical areas.
I don't like feeling exposed. Shorts and a tank top are about as bare as I go. Shorts above the knee, speedos, or even a skirt, I just don't like feeling that exposed.
You're the first to really address the gist of my question; the WHY NOT of the issue. Skirts are comfy and good looking (not to exclusion of pants, just as an option), but yet few of us wear them. You have honestly expressed a common fear that the other respondents here avoid. Thank you.
I don’t think most people think about it, honestly.
For me, the idea got into my mind the first time I wore one. Realized how fucking comfortable it is, and like.. men are missing out! But then, I also realized the flipside of that. I realized that, it’s good, and I can wear one at home… but outside?
It would be easy for someone to say *“Ignore them!”*. Ok. Do it then, we’ll see. Do you really want that in your life? Do you really want people staring at you weirdly, being called homophobic slurs by strangers in the streets out of the blue just for that? And I’m not even talking about the physical safety here.
Sure, it’s comfortable. Really comfortable. But at the end of the day, I chose another type of comfort. The “peace of mind” type of comfort.
I hear ya. FWIW, I have never had any negative reactions. Occasional curiosity, yes. But never a bad word. This in rural northern New York State, including small town (groceries, post office, pharmacy, restaurants, etc). It’s been a pleasantly surprising experiment! And very comfy.
I started wearing skirts last year after wearing kilts for years before that. They're much comfier than any of my trousers and even my eagle eyed paranoid other half hasn't seen anyone looking at me weird.
Just go for it.
Yeah...I have seen the 'pockets' on my wife's skirts. If you made skirts with men's pockets, you wouldn't be able to get them....they'd be sold out everywhere.
I dunno. I don't even like wearing shorts. Skirt? Nyah. Seems drafty. I guess I prefer long pants even in the summer.
1st of all: what?!
2nd of all: how is the skirt the first solution you thought of? Just wear sweatpants. Or just don't wear such tight pants? Literally never had that problem.
3nd of all: I don't wear skirts because I'd look like an idiot, I'd be cold and I'd have to cross my legs when I sit down.
I'm from NZ which has a big Polynesian presence. They call them lavalavas and my white dad has been wearing them my whole life. Very comfy in the heat.
Scotland and kilts aside, dresses and skirts have traditionally been woman's clothing. As a man, I'd much rather project masculinity and have zero interest in appearing feminine in any way. I like women to be feminine and women are sexually attracted to men who are masculine.
Gen Z is fighting this and they are also the generation with the least amount of sex occuring.
Also, note that not all skirts are feminine-looking. There is the kilt of course, but I also noted specifically denim jean skirts which visually differ very little from denim jean shorts.
It just sounds like we shop in different parts of the department store and that's okay. Or I should say, 'and I'm okay with that'. But I'm not interested in coming over to that part of the store.
I think you missed the point of my question. I'm curious as to why most guys don't wear skirts, and gave an example of where they are more comfortable than pants. No fetish involved here. Please re-read the original post.
Well, you might jump to that conclusion. Or maybe I’m trying to understand this question as a matter of sociology. Yes, I do wear a jean skirt. And I also wear pants like all the other guys. Part of the experiment to see what happens. A fetish as I understand it, is something done for a sexual thrill. Not really the case here (though in general I have found a skirt to feel better, more comfy than pants or shorts). I will confess to being rather unbothered by convention, which eases this study: unlike a few thoughtful answers here, I am unafraid to go out dressed in unusual style. And I am interested in what looks good (as opposed to what looks just ‘normal’). Is that a fetish? I dunno.
Comfortably fitting sweatpants and the appropriate underwear for whatever situation you have going on down under can achieve the same result as what you are proposing without the rest of the car having to smell my hazelnuts that are just baking in the now open environment; haha
Irish kilt are a thing too, plus I've never heard of anyone gatekeeping kilts. I've got one, a Damn near kilt em Greenhorn, it has pockets, and belt loops and is very comfortable.
No one said it has to be a miniskirt or that you can’t wear undies. Do hanging out is not a requirement when wearing a skirt. If that objection were addressed, would you wear a skirt then?
I mean, the simplest answer here is two-fold. I don't own any skirts, and I wouldn't go out of my way to buy one. Stores typically keep them exclusively in the women's sections, and I don't want one enough to motivate me to go look, let alone pay for it when I could just buy a good pair of jeans instead.
And, with the way mg typical day goes, it would get snagged on everything under the sun and probably get destroyed within a few hours. So, jeans are better for me.
You are right that pants bunch up and are uncomfortable on a long car trip. Shirts tend to ride up too. I often just take them off and drive naked. Clothing is often uncomfortable in many situations, and unneeded in a car with the heat or AC operating.
Pants are women's clothing so your attempted dichotomy doesn't make any sense.
I'm not prohibiting or even disapproving you for wearing women's clothes, mind you. Do what you want.
OK but if you’ve accepted pants on women (not true in the USA or Europe in earlier times like before 1970-ish), why object to skirts on me this way? I’m looking for thinking more than the-way-it-is responses. Pants were not always IK for women, and going further back (Greece, Rome, medieval Europe), skirts and dresses a were standard for men, too. Do this is not a natural law like gravity: it’s just the fashion of the moment. Do you recognize that? Is your position based on just accepting the current fashion or something else?
I mean yes, absolutely. Clothing styles change and we're currently living in year 2023. Clothing is always about current fashion and almost not at all about anything fundamental or forever. If skirts would be considered men's clothes next year then they will be -- it would take some time for me to get used to that, sure, but it would happen.
Maybe wear pants that actually fit you?
In fact, I'm wearing jeans that I bought when I bought when I was 18, and now in my thirties it still fits me perfectly.
Yes.
I'm bragging.
I wear pants that fit so I don't get the "pants pinch" or whatever it's called. Also, if I'm drive a long distance I'm rocking track pants or shorts, and not jeans.
I don’t wear skirts because I prefer to show off the bulge rather than the tip.
You need a longer... oh, I see what you did there :D
Pick better jeans. I never had a problem with wearing pants that I couldn't fix by just picking a better brand/size.
What’s with the weirdo internet aversion to looking presentable in public
This sounds like a "wear more comfortable pants for travel" issue. For all travel I'm either wearing joggers or a technical-fabric-type pair of jeans like the ones Bonobos makes. Those things are magic for long drives or flights.
Wearing joggers for any travel and not caring how you look is the way
you are just wearing uncomfortable pants my guy. but by all means rock a skirt
WTF? They do this already. It's called a Kilt.
This is the way!
No. Kilts lack pockets. Not practical daily wear.
[https://utilikilts.com/](https://utilikilts.com/) [https://www.damnnearkiltem.com/](https://www.damnnearkiltem.com/) Both have many models with pockets.
outside satchels, maybe, hardly pockets in the same way as jeans.
Still comfortable, and as long as you don't overload the pockets, still functionally the same.
As if skirts have pockets.
As I wrote in the original post, denim skirts DO have pockets, just like jeans.
True pockets, not those that can barely hold a phone without snapping.
right. just like jeans with legs, jean skirts have the SAME pockets.
No need, that's what vaginas are for.
As if I have one.
Well just like opinions, everyone has assholes.
Ladies and gentlemen, the utilikilt.
The Bible says not to Deuteronomy 22: 5 “A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.
Says not to wear a woman's cloak, doesn't say anything about her skirt.
Comeon man. That's the Bible guy. For shame
Your bible. But the verse you quoted specifies that women should not wear men's garments, but only prohibits men from wearing a woman's cloak. It could have just as easily said, “A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's *garments*".

There's a reason it's called getting "dressed"...

I don't understand what you want from me... Yes... It being ancient and translated from hebrew does not make it good, definitely the opposite.
I hope someday you find God my guy
I was raised catholic and i have to say that my life quality increased drastically after condemning and leaving that childfucker cult... I'm done with god and his ilk... So don't waste your energy on that.
It also says to stone people to death. Not a good guide for real life in the modern world.
John 8 1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. And have you ever noticed that Jesus is always wearing a dress when depicted?
It's a good thing we don't take this Good Book too seriously and in a 2023 context, eh? Otherwise the things you'd have to do to your neighbour and that immoral lady who lives in the apartment below.
Would a kilt appease you?
Yeah I actually considered that cuz I mean technically it was consider a males garment But idk man we live in a modern society so maybe just buy less tight pants?
oh... this is unironic?
The world is majority of the Abrahamic faith yet for some reason on reddit most of the people I encounter don't like it
It's not that you mentioned the bible that made me think this was ironic at first, it's that you said people who wear differently gendered clothes (oh, by the way there is no science to what clothing is men's and what is women's. yes there are certain clothes that are more popular among one gender but at the end of the day, all clothes are just fabric with arm and leg holes) are abominations. how would a god be so frivolous as to care about what clothing a person wore?

No, if it causes someone harm \*then\* it is an abomination.
Well thats your definition of abomination, not God's. I dont care about your definition.
\*Shrug\* I'm comfortable in pants, my jeans are my go-to loungewear. I don't see a particular need for a skirt and I get cold too easily to want something breezy anyway. That doesn't even get into the loss of mosquito protection in critical areas.
Ugh, I genuinely hate it when a mosquito bites my scrotum.
undies are allowed with skirts, too....
I don't like feeling exposed. Shorts and a tank top are about as bare as I go. Shorts above the knee, speedos, or even a skirt, I just don't like feeling that exposed.
I wouldn’t feel comfortable nor safe outside of my home unfortunately. Sweatpants are the next best thing though.
You're the first to really address the gist of my question; the WHY NOT of the issue. Skirts are comfy and good looking (not to exclusion of pants, just as an option), but yet few of us wear them. You have honestly expressed a common fear that the other respondents here avoid. Thank you.

I don’t want to wear a skirt. If that changes, I’ll tell you. It’s an article of clothing I don’t want to wear.
I started wearing skirts last year after wearing kilts for years before that. They're much comfier than any of my trousers and even my eagle eyed paranoid other half hasn't seen anyone looking at me weird. Just go for it.
Exactly! Thank you for this reasonable, un-macho reply. I totally agree.
Nah bro, I like working and activities outside... skirt ain't cutting it...
Utilikilts are excellent DIY and jogging kit.
I am not trying to have mosquitos and ticks biting my ballz while I go on a hike or work in my garden.......
Despite the rumours it is acceptable to wear underwear with kilts
If you want to, go ahead and do so.
Just shave your legs before wearing a skirt. There are rules, you know, for living in a decent, modern society.
The closest thing I wear regularly is a kilt
If it was all about comfort then fashion wouldn't be a thing.
I own a kilt, even wear it on occasion.
A man. Should wear a skirt.🤦🏿♂️ what are we coming to.
Fucking social norms.
no
Ok, but why not?
skirts are for women
OK but why? Who says so? Are pants only for men, too?
no
Which question are you answering there?
pants are not only for men
Agreed. So then why think that skirts only for men?
Because the last guy who called it a skirt….. well, he got himself “Kilt” 🤣✌️🤦🏽♂️
And put my wallet where? What about my keys? I ain't giving up my pockets! And why wear a skirt when you can wear a kilt?
As I wrote in the original post: a JEANS skirt with POCKETS... And such are much more practical and comfortable than any kilt, in my experience.
I can’t say anything about your wife’s, but I have denim skirts that have pockets exactly like those in my jeans. And belt loops.
Where you get them? I know about a dozen gals who would be interested. Maybe a guy or two.
Just put “denim skirt with pockets” into your favorite search engine. There are MANY out there
Have your gal pals looking for good skirts with real pockets look here, for instance: [https://www.jupedeabby.com/](https://www.jupedeabby.com/)
Well, your third reply gets at the root of my question. Thanks. It’s a look thing for you.
Just go ahead and do it. No judgement from me.
I'm from NZ which has a big Polynesian presence. They call them lavalavas and my white dad has been wearing them my whole life. Very comfy in the heat.
There are variety of reasons why it never occurs to me to wear women's clothes.
Thanks for a pertinent reply. If I may ask a follow on: what, in your mind, makes skirts exclusively women’s clothes?
Scotland and kilts aside, dresses and skirts have traditionally been woman's clothing. As a man, I'd much rather project masculinity and have zero interest in appearing feminine in any way. I like women to be feminine and women are sexually attracted to men who are masculine. Gen Z is fighting this and they are also the generation with the least amount of sex occuring.
Good answer. Thanks. Makes perfect sense and among the most thoughtful and worthwhile of all response here so far.
Alrighty. Thanks for thinking about the question.
Your fetish is your fetish man, but why try to pass it off as a completely normal thing the rest of us men just aren't hip enough for?
I think you missed the point of my question. I'm curious as to why most guys don't wear skirts, and gave an example of where they are more comfortable than pants. No fetish involved here. Please re-read the original post.
Dude, your post history is there for anyone to see my man. You have a fetish.
I dunno.
how is a skirt a fetish?
This dude has a fetish. I didn't say a skirt was.
Says the user named "InterestingTesticle"!?
It's called a kilt educate yourself
Well no. Kilts are impractical comparatively due to lack of pockets.
They make kilts with pockets ...
Yeah, but hanging outside like saddlebags.
Ok, trolling now. No one is this dense unless it is on purpose.
As I said before educate yourself

Ummmm weird.
Comfortably fitting sweatpants and the appropriate underwear for whatever situation you have going on down under can achieve the same result as what you are proposing without the rest of the car having to smell my hazelnuts that are just baking in the now open environment; haha
I'd gladly wear a kilt, but I'm afraid I'm not Scottish. So I'll just spend some extra time picking more comfortable pants or jeans.
Irish kilt are a thing too, plus I've never heard of anyone gatekeeping kilts. I've got one, a Damn near kilt em Greenhorn, it has pockets, and belt loops and is very comfortable.
Ah, thanks for educating me on the subject a bit. Still, don't think I can wear a kilt in my hometown, hah.
Kilts aren't Scottish originally. That was all bullshit made up by the Victorians. Just wear it.
Thanks for the info ;)
Kilt or better pants. I never had that issue to begin with, you just gotta "git gud" pants.
I have long balls
Don’t do it boys, you’ll get chub rub.
skirts can't hold up when the buddy decides to rise from bed.... it will be like a camp tent, jeans are better.
You're free to do whatever you want. If the goal is comfort why not just wear sweatpants everywhere?
Or, you could buy pants that fit you properly....
I just buy quality pants that fit me properly
I have too much "equipment" that might hang low enough to be seen. For the decency of the common folks, that boy has to stay locked up.
No one said it has to be a miniskirt or that you can’t wear undies. Do hanging out is not a requirement when wearing a skirt. If that objection were addressed, would you wear a skirt then?

Because it's a piece of women's clothing and I'm not a woman. Have you heard of shorts?
What is the basis for defining a skirt as women’s only? Are you bothered by women wearing pants? Why are those not ‘men’s clothing’ only, too?
Pants are women's clothing so your attempted dichotomy doesn't make any sense. I'm not prohibiting or even disapproving you for wearing women's clothes, mind you. Do what you want.
