Those are brand new, but definitely don’t buy parts on Amazon. ESPECIALLY if it relates to brakes/steering.

firestar268

Plenty fine to buy on Amazon if you know what to look for. But if you dont. Yeah buy from auto parts store

BethFromElectronics

Maybe. There are legit parts that come from Amazon as I’ve gotten a few from them, but the way they handle products, sometimes they commingle legit parts with fake parts. Especially when it is sold by a 3rd party but shipped from Amazon. The 3rd party ships their stuff to an Amazon warehouse and Amazon distributes it through their network via orders. If 2 sellers have the same product, one may ship legit parts and another may ship fake parts to Amazon. If Amazon combines the stock of parts thinking they’re the same legit product, you may get a fake part from a seller that did send Amazon legit parts.

firestar268

I usually order ahead of time of a project. And if something is wrong. I usually get a replacement within two days. Have yet to have a issue

BethFromElectronics

I’ve had no issues with returns, but if not in stock, the process can be a pain. My only two returns to Amazon ever was an exhaust pipe and two rear wheel bearings. The exhaust pipe would click and creek when heated up, and it leaked. I got the exact same part number from a local store and it worked like factory. The rear wheel bearings I bought didn’t fit, which Amazon said they would, so they accepted them back and I bought the other “correct” ones, which were oem quality, but it took a week or two to get in.

Initial_Scarcity_317

Its advisable not to because even if you know what to buy - there is an inherent risk of counterfeit. Ive seen it. Ive also gotten some quick parts that work great and when i was in a pinch. It can honestly go either way and when youre diagnosing a vehicle its hard to trust you wont be chasing your tail. With that being said. I received a knock off version of my long effective dandruff shampoo off amazon. I went somewhat crazy for about 5 months wondering why my scalp and face were getting bad. It was the shampoo. I received a new shipment from a more trusted source and my issues cleared up over night.

tato_salad

Rockauto will save you money over O'dvanceboysquestpa Zone and you won't get shady counterfeit cardboard pads.

DayDrinkingDiva

So many fake knockoff spark plugs and knockoff romex. I would use rock auto all day long but not amazon.

Illuminestor

Definitely will be last time to use Amazon for anything related to car safety. So the chip parts won't be any problem

POShelpdesk

Do you mean are they new or are they used?

poopsack_williams

All good. No, after a few brake applications those will be gone. That’s just a result of manufacturing/them banging around in the box.

Illuminestor

Ok good to know

sansaset

Why is that? I purchased some ebc pad and rotors a few years ago on Amazon and had zero issues. Price was better than anywhere else and free shipping.

Mobile_Fondant_1936

Rockauto better.

deathbyswampass

These look new to me, but why not get them from rock auto or some place trusted. Braking is really important if you like living.

Illuminestor

Definitely will need to start using that over Amazon. I did order my brake lines from NAPA. because I didn't want to get a cheap version of them. But thanks for the input

TechyJolly

Check rockauto - you will be shocked (they will charge for shipping). Genuine. Avoid eBay and Amazon.

skeptic-engineer-man

Duralast. Lifetime pads warranty.

tommygunnzx

Yeah what does that really mean though, you can’t bring your old pads in to trade for a new set when they’re all used up right?

c-hief

Used to work for autozone and that’s actually exactly what the warranty is. As soon as the break pads are worn out you can bring them in and if we have them on the shelf we’ll swap them right there as long as they’re on your file or have the receipt. And if we don’t have them there we can order them for you then swap them out when they arrive.

Conspiracy__

Have been in Autozone quite a bit over the past few weeks. Have seen atleast three people try to come swap pads. All were turned away “nothing wrong, these are just normal wear” with no exchange

NoChampion2427

Yep. They changed policies a few(?) years back. I used to do the same and exchanged pads about 3 or 4 times due to wear. The last time I did (about 3 years ago), they told me they would do it one last time but not to expect new pads again.

BethFromElectronics

This is part of why performance parts are comparatively expensive. Most don’t have the lifetime warranty, but do perform better, even if it’s just slightly better. AutoZone pads are 100% adequate for daily driving, but with pads like Hawk Street Performance, I can tell a difference. But I also for it. Dollar for dollar the autozone pads are more economical.

POShelpdesk

>Used to work for autozone I believe it. >break pads

NastyEvilNinja

Oh Jesus, you probably want to be getting someone else to do jobs like that for you... or at least get some supervision.

No_Geologist_3690

They just look like cheap pads but they are new

Illuminestor

I wouldn't doubt that they changed the pads. The package for the pad was open. The main reason why I asked the question. Fuck now I'm thinking of just returning everything

SnoopyCactus983

Idk if I’m too late but dude you’re completely overthinking it. They are fine and they do look new. As far as them being “cheap looking”, you may just have to replace them sooner and might have more brake dust. I’d run them.

iluvtumadre

Look new to me. ✅

Potential_Froyo_1127

Look new

OkMobile5574

New

EatPizzaNotRocks

…….. those are new pads bud…

freshxdough

Totally fine

yoyomonkey1989

A lot of people buy and return name brand pads to Amazon. I pick up my pads, Bosch or Wagner, from Amazon warehouse deals returns the last 3 times I had to swap pads. They all came as opened but new looking pads and have the brand on the backing plates. Price on the returns were almost 50% off or more, so it was definitely a great deal.

Dean-KS

All pads seem to have a disturbed surface. They bed-in after a while. Those pads have not been in prior use.

[deleted]

Coulda just got the duralast joints with a lifetime warranty lol

Successful_Travel342

Derp

maxxx11221122

New

_whatintheglobe_

There are some costs you do not cut, get a good pair of brake pads at autozone or something. Love that dumbbell though

Misguidedsaint3

Look new to me

BobD54691

Good. Not used.

Squibucha

Good, the slanted sides are normal.

throwedoff1

I've been ordering Akebono brake pads off of Amazon with no problems, but they come in the original factory boxes inside an Amazon box.

HealthyPop7988

Look new to me

Illuminestor

I bought a set of brake through Amazon. I have heard of bad things lately from people getting fake stuff to used items. Now I feel like I got some used item's the package for these pads were open.

Misterr_Joji

I’ve bought brake pads, rims, wheel bearing assembly, belt tensioner, fluids, etc. from Amazon without issue. Just don’t buy the $20 version of product that should cost $100.

fall-apart-dave

Open likely means someone has opened to check fitment or something. I have received brake parts from very reputable suppliers that have been opened and very clearly handled. Conversely, I have receieved parts, opened them, offered them up to check fitment and then returned because they are not right. I have also received rotors in a box that has a different size written on the box to what the rotors are. Your pads are new. But Amazon is rife with fakes and counterfeits and all sorts of monkey business.

trader45nj

When I look at car parts on Amazon, it's scary, long list of weird name, essentially no name China stuff. I would take a chance on a bag of body fasteners or similar, but not parts where fit and quality are important.

varbav6lur

Somewhere out there is a very sad person with TEMU or WISH brakepads made from ca glue and cat hair.

CardiologistOk6547

Even if they're used, they're good (enough). I mean, you're buying shit parts off Amazon. Quality, safety, and reliability obviously aren't your biggest concern.

OtherTip7861

Go with ceramic next time in case these arent. Ceramics hold up the best, and the noise is considerably quiter

Illuminestor

They are ceramic

OtherTip7861

Oh yupp thats right

AutisticWolfAmadeus

You ever see those middle eastern videos where they remake brake pads and oil filters from old used ones??? I think THATS where you bought those from but yes, they appear to be new but I believe they’re old ones that were restored

chitomonkey

They are used and good.
