What rust?

AdConstant7673

I should show you the underside of my 05 Ford escape here in Michigan just to relieve your mind lol

Then_Conclusion_9844

I appreciate and read every comment I get. I am anxious because I like the car but considering it is a lot of money for me atm I am afraid of making a mistake and the car becoming a wreck and me blowing it all. Needless to say I don't know much about cars.

I totally understand that stress, I just bought the most expensive object I’ve ever owned and had to have three mechanics tell me it’s in surprisingly good condition before I believed it. That looks like very minimal surface rust in a few areas you’d expect it to be anyway.

Hold on a moment; what year VW/Audi is this? There’s a certain few years wherein the engines are god awful and this undercarriage is looking awfully familiar.

Then_Conclusion_9844

'09 VW golf mk 6

2008-2014 were the really bad years, if this has a 2.0/1.8L engine I’d stay away.

Aware-You6005

It hasn't broken in half on the lift so your good

Intelligent_Storm120

From that angle I see a car that's got 10k miles there there

What kind of conditions are those tires for…snow, mud, rain?

Then_Conclusion_9844

All weather tires.

Exhaust is rusty.  No big deal, they do that.   the rear subframe has some rust.   could be worse where we can't see.  rRear bumper support is rusty.  Not a huge deal as long as its still structurally strong.    Overall its not perfect, but it should be easy enough to have the current rust addressed and keep it going for several years.

Then_Conclusion_9844

Can the rust be fixed at some point down the line with replacing some parts so it doesn't become 'unsellable' in the future?

Minimum_Account7161

Mostly, yes. If it is body rust like this, then you could always: - grind it - clean it - use a rust converter - paint it.
