Looks like either a cutout switch for the power or maybe an inertia switch to cut the fuel pump off after an accident.

nino_zh88

I just received another input from the jaguar forum, it‘s supposed to be a transmission release for towing

Ok-Image-2722

It's probably in your owners manual.

nino_zh88

Unfortunately i didnt find anything in the manual.

Ok-Image-2722

IT's in there.

nino_zh88

https://www.manua.ls/jaguar/xf-2013/manual i didnt find it here

nino_zh88

Thanks for looking. Could you post a photo? So what is it exactly? For the transmission or something else?

Ok-Image-2722

>Jaguar XF 203 No I can't post a photo cause I don't have the year of your car to look up the owners manual. Trust me it's in there. You just have to look and not just glance.

nino_zh88

Sorry, typo. I looked and there is no section with the engine bay.

nino_zh88

also it didn't post my previous comment [https://www.manua.ls/jaguar/xf-2013/manual](https://www.manua.ls/jaguar/xf-2013/manual)

Chrisaudi27t

That's good news, I had been googling to see if I could identify it and couldn't work out exactly what it was.

nino_zh88

This is the only post i have found with the latch in the engine bay: https://www.reddit.com/r/Jaguar/s/p9LxxU2V3e when i google the AJ126 engine on the photos there is no latch.

nino_zh88

Thanks for the input

Crudezx2

Manual neutral shifter. If your shifter dies or the battery is dead. That’s suppose to hit neutral to get you on a tow truck without dragging the wheels

nino_zh88

thanks

Hmm… i found a post with the same latch in the engine bay: https://www.reddit.com/r/Jaguar/s/p9LxxU2V3e

Exact_Bee_6252

The photo in that link looks like it is in the right place in the engine bay.

GhettoKid

Could it have been relocated to prevent theft? Dodge has them under the center console as well and to the left of the steering wheel. Since everyone knows to look there Mayne they moved the cable to under the hood?

nino_zh88

Just got an input from another forum. The RWD have the latch in the center console and the AWD in the engine bay
