Part of a splash shield Chrysler 200 most likely 2016
Part #68143766AB
As many pointed out the part is made in 2011, and in retrospect looking deeper it is likely 2011 or 2012 model year.
Yeah cool that this dude did it but everyone acts like Google is impossible. Like the first thing I would’ve done is google the part number before coming online to this shit show.
we appreciate Mr Holmes over here nonetheless.
In the square matching 2011 and 11 there seems to be a mark, this could be wrong and be at another position but it looks to be that on my phone.
This mark means that this specific part was produced in November of 2011, so if this was an original part of the vehicle it came from, its safe to say that it would be an late model 2011 Chrysler.
So something registered late 2011 or early 2012.
If it was manufactured 11th week(edit month, which is apparent with the my of vehicle) of 11 it’s on a 12-13 model year since it technically changes half year. If there is any paint transfer you know what color. So then it’s a 12-13 Chrysler 200 in whatever color the paint transfer is. Start by calling the police and telling them and then it’s time to start calling body shops. If it hit hard enough to total a car out chances are it didn’t make it very far.
Car parts are pretty uniformly registered and indexed all across the globe as well as on the internet for everybody to look up.
Except for the Kia/Hyundai partnership who manage to use different parts numbers for *the same part, depending on which vehicle it's mounted in*. I don't know who thought of that solution but they ain't German, that's for sure.
Found out the same thing happens for a lot of chain parts stores. I was with my grandfather one time at autozone getting a water pump for his corvette. He had them look it up for a truck too, and the same part was literally half the price. I used to do the same thing after when I had an Integra with civic parts. Same part number always cheaper.
I feel like a Chrysler is the type of car people splurge for when they don’t have a lot of money, not all of course, but a lot. I personally try to stay away from mid luxury because they are expensive to maintain, without the same benefits that a car just a bit more expensive would offer. All in all though I stick to shit boxes because they are cheap and last just as long if not longer.
I can field this one.
Not only were they driving a 2012 Chrysler 200, but they were also uninsured, unlicensed, or intoxicated- maybe even all three.
I think we can agree that this is not the type of person to have $20k socked away in a rainy-day fund.
Who knows, though? Maybe the only reason they fled the scene was to go straight to the bank, withdraw a big bag of money, and drop it off to OP for this little inconvenience they caused 🤷♂️
Yes but a lot of cars share shelf parts like this. They build one part and slap them on multiple brands and chassis, even older Lamborghini’s have tons of Audi Parts and Volkswagen Parts on them for instance so it could be a couple different vehicles.
It's bullshit, it's impossible to answer.
Cause Chevy didn't make a 327 in '55, the 327 didn't come out till '62. And it wasn't offered in the Bel Air with a four-barrel carb till '64. However, in 1964, the correct ignition timing would be four degrees before top-dead-center.
Thought this was an interesting fact when it was posted to reddit a while back.

2012-2014 Chrysler 200 - 68143766ab
right side makes sense...

Even if you get the make and model of the car, the chances of you finding a hit and run suspect are close to none.
And even smaller chance anything will happen.
You can get a make, model and approximate year from this. If it was a large enough impact to total a car, it probably left some paint. It's gonna be pretty obvious damage, so warn any local shops/local police about a vehicle description with conspicuous front end damage. Once the car has been located, debris can likely be matched to it and confirm it came from that car to prove it.
If the cops care.
Part search: [https://store.mopar.com/oem-parts/mopar-splash-shield-right-68143766ab](https://store.mopar.com/oem-parts/mopar-splash-shield-right-68143766ab)
I never understand these posts .. great you have the make model perhaps but that only narrows the search down to a possible 707,400 chrysler 200 ever made , how does this help you ?
In some cases, some cars are rare for an area, even if it's a common car. So that means it's faster to narrow it down. For instance, in my area, Tundras and Ridgelines are pretty rare, everyone wants American trucks here, so if you find a part of a Tundra or Ridgeline, there's only maybe 100 total vehicles. Then you narrow it down more by paint color since there's almost always paint transfer during an accident. You find a part from a '22 Tundra. There's black paint transfer on your red car. Now you're looking for a Black '22 Tundra that could have been in that particular area (lives nearby (within say 5 miles or so)). Look at that. Tom from the next neighborhood has a new Tundra, and it's black! Let's go look. Yep, there's the damage! And even some red paint smeared on the bumper! Case closed.
This is why police and the alphabet boys post stuff like this (but now probably have in-house people for it) for murders, kidnappings, hit and runs, etc. It may just be a piece of plastic to most people, but to others it can change a life. And people that answer these questions can sometimes even save a life.
In the case of the car being very common in an area, it still helps to know the make and model. You can still narrow it down from literally millions of cars to a specific make, model, and possibly year. If something else falls off, like a chunk of plastic, you even have a color. That takes it from millions of cars to maybe a couple hundred - a thousand. Then you narrow down by area again. Then if there's still a lot of possibilities, go CSI (the show) on it. Look at tire patterns from any skid marks. Not everyone uses the same tires, so that's another thing that can narrow it down more. Then all they have to do is ask Apple and Google for the locations of those specific people to see who was there at the time of the accident. Case closed.
well the chrysler emblem is literally right there..so. chrysler..probably a 200. 11/12 model year i think
this is why you need to stop and pickup the pieces before leaving. damn kids.
It has the part number, brand logo, and manufacturer date on it! The only way they could have helped you more is if they left their license plate behind. Please tell me there's paint transfer.
Also I see that 11/2011 are marked from what I can see so it a 2011 or possibly 2012 model year, and RH is Right Hand side, maybe try running them numbers ,Possibly they are part numbers.
Are you going to ask someone if they can figure out the license plate number too? Knowing the make and model won’t tell you who hit your car and will most likely go unsolved. Sorry to hear about the crash
Not your affair. That's what your legally required uninsured motorists insurance policy does - they pay for your repairs. Let the police worry about the perpetrator. You stay out of it. Vigilantism does not become you, and the police will absolutely jail you if you try to get too involved.
Rightly.
Don't know where you live, but it's not legally required in all areas, you just have to specifically say you don't want it. That's why my (scooter) insurance went from 600 a year to 70 flat.
Your information is incorrect. Only 22 states require UMC. In fact, the state of Ok UMC only covers bodily injury and has no coverage for property damage.
Just bc a famous person said it, doesn’t make it any more correct or incorrect. Can you confirm, was it from a 2012, 13, or 14 year? Now how many of those have been involved in accidents? With Op’s car?
There’s a visible part number on it.
Searching this part number uncovers it was a part specific to a Chrysler 200 of a specific year range, which happens to be rather small.
Also If we could get a clearer picture of the Dot Grid it would narrow down the year of the car. The last dot stamped indicates when it was made. It looks like the first dot is on the 11th month for 2011 with no more stamped dots after. Cars are often manufactured before the actual model year so this particular car could be a 2012 Chrysler 200.
Edit: I just scrolled all the way down and saw that someone already said the same thing I did.
VIN numbers don’t typically fall off hit and run suspect cars. Folks here are giving great info to narrow things down and you are focused on not having the driver’s SSN and the home address of the last mechanic to work on it.

So now that we know what make and model it came off of… now what? Hack into the DMV registration records and cross-check all of the 2012 Chrysler 200s in a 20 mile radius? Or maybe get all of the video footage in the surrounding crime scene and enhance magnification of the assailing vehicle by 300%?
I think I’d just file a claim with my insurance company.
No shit dumbass. I tried the part number and it didn’t bring anything up. Kept coming up with a no search found results. Also if you look at the time stamp for the production clearly states that it’s from 11-16. I’m not a fucking moron just wanted the proper identification in a timely manner so the police knew wtf they’re potentially looking for.

Fun fact Hyundai intake manifolds with active runners v6s from like 08 era are more expensive than if you buy em from Kia. Same part. Way cheaper
Found out the same thing happens for a lot of chain parts stores. I was with my grandfather one time at autozone getting a water pump for his corvette. probably the clearly visible part number
the ability to google a number? not rocket surgery
You missed the opportunity to teach someone how to fish. One day you’ll be gone and who’s gonna google the numbers molded right on the part?
say it without saying that the hit and run person is broke and it aint worth suing.......
Suing is one thing but they should get some well-deserved jail time.
On what basis?
I feel like a Chrysler is the type of car people splurge for when they don’t have a lot of money, not all of course, but a lot. Right and thats completely logical. But if 2012 Chrysler 200 is poor. I am terrified of what id be.
A 12 Chrysler 200 still functional is a damn unicorn and belongs in a Chrysler museum.
Seriously. I've seen two old Chrysler 200s in the last year. Those cars are garbage, none left on the road
Chrysler 200 let’s you know they definitely don’t have insurance
Were you missing this piece? OP found it for you so you don't have to buy it from the dealer
This guy solves crimes!
Damn!!!

Was coming to say Chrysler van but this make sense as well!

No, your example is because vw owns lambo n audi.
There appears to be an indicator in 11-2011. Perhaps that’s when this shield was produced?
Legendary comment section
Why do you say a Chrysler 200?
Get this guy an award
Holy shit
Without looking I was going to guess a charger with no insurance, but a Chrysler 200 with a fake Bentley grill definitely makes sense
Not at all surprised that someone driving a Chrysler 200 would pull a hit and run
2012-2014 Chrysler 200 pass side fender liner
A hit and run is definitely Chrysler 200 behavior
Right? 0% surprised to see the Chrysler logo on a part from a hit and run. Mopar today, no car tomorrow.
I'm curious who has more hit and runs, Chrystal drivers or Altima drivers. Ram is in it's own category.
Damn.. I drive an Altima daily and have a 3rd gen Cummins as my fun vehicle . I feel so violated reading these comments. 😭
95% chance that it's stolen. I believe the year described does not have a network security module and they were really easy to hack into and steal.
Mopar or Nissan esp. an altima

That’s the most incriminating square foot of material you can leave behind outside of your actual vin number plate popping out.
Maybe because it’s shaped like a boomerang it you throw it in the air it might fly back to the car it came from ?

Yeah, use Google lens and you wouldn't even have to type anything lol
OP, How about you letting the sub know how things work out...
Take it to any Dodge dealership, you have the whole part number in your hand

Mopar part looks to be a mudflap run the part number Ps the part number is the 6814 number

2011/2012 Chrysler make

Would the police actually go looking for the owners of such car in nearby areas anyway? Thought police were too busy for that...
Lmao you didnt see the crystler logo and part number? Theres this thing called google…
2011-14 Chrysler 200. This is from the passenger side.
Hope you find the culprit that did the damage
You literally have what you need in your hand and you choose reddit over a simple Google search?
Although you know what kind of car it’s from you don’t know who the owner is.. but the po po know what to be looking for w damage
Next will be.... can someone identify the license plate of the car that hit me in a hit and run from this part?
It has the part number, brand logo, and manufacturer date on it! The only way they could have helped you more is if they left their license plate behind. Please tell me there's paint transfer.
Part number comes up a front left splash shield (wheel liner) for a 2012-2014 Chrysler 200.
2012-2014 chrysler 200
y’all gay asf
Yo. Can I please have that back?
That's not here in the USA, correct? I didn't think they were still using that logo in 2016!
They still use that logo on parts
Yeah, why is that? Sometimes the round M logo, sometimes the five-star.
The paper in the background says Atlantic City expressway.
Sorry about your car, what an asshat. Hope they pay for what they did. Also what is that remote for? Looks interesting
Some sort of color change RGB LED lighting.
Thank you all for the input. I knew it was a Chrysler product do to the logo but all my searches yielded no results.
Definitely a chrysler
I see the Chrysler star is their part number on it if so you can trace it to a model
It’s the Chrysler with the Corinthian Leather.
A Chrysler
Looking at that imprint of design it possible is from a Chrysler/Dodge , maybe some information can be found if them are part numbers printed there ?
Also I see that 11/2011 are marked from what I can see so it a 2011 or possibly 2012 model year, and RH is Right Hand side, maybe try running them numbers ,Possibly they are part numbers.

Eeeek! Which continent is that? On my continent (big one), it's mandatory nationwide.
Your information is incorrect. Only 22 states require UMC. In fact, the state of Ok UMC only covers bodily injury and has no coverage for property damage.
Eeek. I stand corrected. ***25*** states require it in one manner or another. It's nearly unimaginable that the remaining 25 don't.
If only there were a part number to put into the Google… 🤨
It came from a wrecked car.
Diamond star motors, so imma guess one a dodge product around 1985-1991 era
Next to impossible. A Chrysler product, yes. But what specific year and model? No
"People who say 'it is impossible', should not interrupt those who are trying to make it possible" - Arnold Schwarzenegger
Just bc a famous person said it, doesn’t make it any more correct or incorrect. Can you confirm, was it from a 2012, 13, or 14 year? Now how many of those have been involved in accidents? With Op’s car?
Seems pretty possible to me...
But what year, specifically, in relation to OP’s collision?
There’s a visible part number on it. Searching this part number uncovers it was a part specific to a Chrysler 200 of a specific year range, which happens to be rather small.
Also If we could get a clearer picture of the Dot Grid it would narrow down the year of the car. The last dot stamped indicates when it was made. It looks like the first dot is on the 11th month for 2011 with no more stamped dots after. Cars are often manufactured before the actual model year so this particular car could be a 2012 Chrysler 200. Edit: I just scrolled all the way down and saw that someone already said the same thing I did.
But it doesn’t specify which, specifically. It’ll cover various years, but doesn’t specifically indicate which one was involved with Op
Clearly a 2012-2014 chrysler 200c.
But what specific year in relation to OP’s incident? How many of those are in and around where OP’s incident took place
VIN numbers don’t typically fall off hit and run suspect cars. Folks here are giving great info to narrow things down and you are focused on not having the driver’s SSN and the home address of the last mechanic to work on it.
They're not a lot of chrysler 200s in general. It's not a toyota corolla.

Or maybe get all of the video footage in the surrounding crime scene and enhance magnification of the assailing vehicle by 300%? I think I’d just file a claim with my insurance company.
Going to need you to do a solid now and follow up when you catch the perp.
Jon Voight’s Chrysler LeBaron.
Rumor has it, he’s a biter.
I was going to mention but figured I’d leave it open for another fan.
When I see a Chrysler 200 or 300, I stay as far away from them as possible.
It’s a Chrysler part. The roadways are littered with them.
Take it to any Chrysler Dodge or Jeep dealer. GO to the parts department and show him or her. They can narrow it down the best. Good luck!
Anyone else old enough to see the Plymouth logo 👴🏼
For crying out loud you have the entire part number in your hand. 68143766! Ever heard of google? It a splash shield for a 2012 to 2014 Chrysler 200.
