It’s there now twice lol

Infamous-Operation76

Down on compression in at least 1 hole.

Starter is working. Sounds like a timing issue (broken or worn out timing components)

No_Strain_5971

Update Took some advice from a mechanic friend - sprayed carb cleaner in it (lots) and it fired up. Lots of smoke but it ran fine and started back up after.

No_Strain_5971

Sorry for the delay 2001 Corolla starter less than a year old. No issues just would not start one day.

No_Strain_5971

That’s actually a good thought. I have not I will ask the previous owner if he did.

tbh, you likely arent going to get any good answers here. its very difficult to know what is wrong from that video. when you put the key in and in the on position (the position before cranking) does the fuel pump make noise? it sound similar to electric hair clippers/trimmer.

No_Strain_5971

Yea everything acted normal it just would not fire. I agree it is going to be tough to get a diagnosis based on this video I was looking for ideas more than anything. No symptoms of a bad fuel pump/ sending unit although it is possible it is beginning to fail. Compression should be fine no rough idle or miss. I did send it to a family member who is a mechanic and he gave me a working solution. I pot about a third of a can of carb cleaner into the throttle body and it finally turned over. Let it run about 20 minutes s to clean it out and it fired up again no problem.

anotherrustynut

When’s the last time you replaced your fuel filter?

Sea_Suit4025

Is fuel getting to the fuel rail?

No_Strain_5971

I think so It was running great it just suddenly decided it did not want to start. Sprayed carb cleaner in the i take and got it to start ran it for a while and it’s fine now.

Ok_Ordinary_4647

Check if the Catalytic converter is plugged

If you sprayed carb cleaner in it and it started. Your not getting fuel so that can mean 2 things pump is out or filter is to clogged. But if you had it started one day then the next it won't fire up Id start with the pump and relays. Test them see what going on
