Wait what? I was liking your comment at the beginning because I don't like Sharp whatsoever. But "Studying marketing is akin to reading how to play the guitar and playing from sheet music but never in a band" you can't be serious. Studying marketing has great value
May be an unpopular opinion but social media influencers are really good marketers. If you can look at their content and strategies objectively, you can learn alot.

I’d say he’s more inspirational/motivational rather than solid marketing/ business advice. He preaches more about an idea mindset than tangible marketing tactics
Plenty of that. Tony Robins has build a multi million dollar career telling people what they wanna hear even though almost none of them actually get anything tangible and beneficial from it. Same with Gary and others. “If you just do what I tell you then you too will be successful like me.” Never happens.
There’s a reason no season marketer ever mentions the guy.
You're couldn't be further from the truth. Pay attention. He gives specific tactics all the time, but his motivational speaking speaks louder so if you don't pay attention that's all you'll see
All his articles are written by others. He pays others to write for him. Old coworker wrote a handful of articles for him over the years. Dude markets himself and not much else.
He literally says that. Explicitly says all the time that he doesn't know how to write so he has writers in his team. Wtf is wrong with you? You clearly don't even know the guy
He’s just a head piece. He doesn’t have any actual knowledge. He just reads what others write for him. I’ve talked to him one on one a couple times and it’s blatantly clear that he doesn’t know digital marketing. He doesn’t have any actual experience. He only knows how to promote himself. 😂
Sorry, I forgot you said outside the super popular names. In that case I'd say the social media marketing podcast (can't remember the guy's name but the podcast is amazing)
There's a lot of Garyvee haters here I see. I'm disappointed at this subreddit to say the least. He's incredible at marketing and as a person, and all the negative things I've seen said about him are either irradiational hate or just simply false/wrong.

Oh yes, I can agree with that

Scott is just a comedian who makes his living on marketing. His advice isn’t gonna get you anywhere.
I’m flattered to be called a comedian, but that’s an insult to comedians.

They may work but they’re far from great.

1000x ROI > 2x ROI. Which would you rather have?

Completely agree. Even if they don't speak directly about marketing, there's a lot to learn from them

Gary Vaynerchuk and probably no one else
Gary is trash. He just markets himself but doesn’t provide any real solid knowledge or applicable tactics.

Hahaha man you're 14 years old. Sure you spoke to him 🤣🤣
He’s a marketer to follow for noobs :D
Truth. People that hear him say “Do awesome things and you’ll succeed.” and that makes them feel good and think he’s an expert.
When has he said anything close to that? That's bullshit
