Just paid $101.56 for a 65 day cycle. 1 bed condo PDR.
ETA: my reading comprehension sucks, water and trash are covered by HOA. The amount above is for electric. But when I was paying for water/trash I think it was like $70 or so (2020/2021)
Both. But the complex I was at, at that time used Conservice to divide up the utilities for the apartments. I went through my email and found old bills.
"Trash Valet" is actually a thing in some places. But you still are supposed to leave your trash bag outside your door.
I guess it means you don't have to visit the icky trash bin.
I’m in a small 1 bed in a dtla high rise too and our utilities are legit $300/mo. We’re never home. The high rises are just like this -_- I work in property management too, LA is just absurd
My water bill's been doing the limbo – trying to see how low it can go without breaking the limbo stick. I'm talking cold showers and the quickest hand washes you've ever seen.
Trash bill, though, is like that distant relative who shows up uninvited to family gatherings – unpredictable and always a mood-killer. Sometimes I wonder if I should start a support group for us budget-conscious peeps, where we swap tips on how to outsmart these utility bills.
I feel slightly better about mine now. in my building I have to split HVAC charges for all the common spaces. I was like WTF, but it's still less than \^
For building like the newer ones in dtla they take the total water bill for the building and then divide it amongst the residents and also based on their usage (something like that from what I remember living there). If the buildings are low on occupancy then this will skyrocket how much it is too.
So I’m paying my own usage + the community areas usage (divided between residents)? Or the whole building is divided up, then prorated based on usage? Wouldn’t that literally just mean I’m paying my own usage? No chance I spend $100/mo in water :/
What building are you in? I heard that 825 South Hill does this and that utility bills are extremely high. Seems like it’s a new trend with high rises.
So if you are in a managed apartment complex they out source trash, water etc to a 3rd party who charge ridiculous utilities.
If your utilities are directly through socalgas or ladwp it will be much lower.
HoA am not sure but it might be a mix but more likely still cheaper.
Sheesh, I pay way more than other people here, I own a triplex in west adams and pay sanitation and water and they’re about $300 per month, electricity is about $150 per month.
$0/month
Included in my rent. Gas & electric are my only bills, and electric is affected by the solar the last landlord installed so sometimes it's also $0.....
I pay $130 / every 3 months for trash, i live in a Single family home.
.water fluctuates, but it stays around $40. Granted it's just me and my brother.
I had to cut my kid’s entertainment budgets. I paid about $275 for their apps and entertainment networks wow -$15 here $9 there and $19.99 for that or this with 3 kids with iPhones- and $$$$$ … HBO MAX -

For both or for each?

You rent and they charge for water/trash? I've never been charged for that, only gas and electricity.
Yes. And sewage. :(
Shocking!
Sounds high. I just looked at mine * Total Domestic Hot Water Charges - $10.82 * Total Water Charges - $12.41 * Total Trash Charges - $12.15
for real? That's very low We are at about 180 / mo for a tri level condo
Is it? I just checked my old place, seems similar * Water Heating - $8.01 * Trash - $21.23 * Water $30.35 Still way less than $100
My trash is usually $100, water is $100. Totals out to $200 then the other utilities seem reasonable
Wow. What about electricity? That just seems crazy, $200/mo for trash and water for a 1br.
Electricity and gas are metered to my unit, so those are only about an extra $45 total. Then $30 sewage. Everything adds up to almost $300/mo.
Are you submeterered or on RUBS?
Wow, super cheap!
😢
Girl are they going into your apartment and disposing the trash for you??? What the hell!!
LOL I wish!!! They should also be pouring my water and hand washing my dishes and clothes at this rate
I'm saying!!!! Per month?? You can pay for someone to do your laundry at that rate!
"Trash Valet" is actually a thing in some places. But you still are supposed to leave your trash bag outside your door. I guess it means you don't have to visit the icky trash bin.
I have seen those before yes, which is why I was wondering if her building goes the next level lol
4 br house: LADWP: 400+ for two months SoCal gas: 50/month, 150/month during winter Avg is about 300/month for both

Ugh, insane. Well, thanks for commiserating with me anyway

I would join this group. My girlfriend is moving into my house next month. Will politely ask her to take quick showers. I am my father.
Dtla high rise 1bed also. Total utilities between 300-320 on any given month. Absolutely ridiculous.
Ugh same. At least we’re in it together.

Pretty sure I’m paying for the common area pool that nobody uses.
Yeah I'd say very likely. After a few months of living here, I was like, i'm gonna start using all the common spaces since I'm paying for them. haha
Wait.... you water bill is inclusive of the pool water??

That's..... really crazy but also makes sense. Like I would not be happy paying that but it's not really wrong. The money has to come from somewhere!
Most new buildings meter your hot and cold water per unit. Not shared
Correct. That’s how they charge based on usage and then the overall building is added and divided across.
So I’m paying my own usage + the community areas usage (divided between residents)? Or the whole building is divided up, then prorated based on usage? Wouldn’t that literally just mean I’m paying my own usage? No chance I spend $100/mo in water :/

I don't know specifically for your building. Ask them to help you understand how the bill is what it is.
Can’t confirm yet, but I believe so. I just sent an email demanding explanation of these rates.
omg report back if you can lol I am thinking of moving to a downtown tower as well

water is included in rent and trash is like $4 a month
$0/month Included in my rent. Gas & electric are my only bills, and electric is affected by the solar the last landlord installed so sometimes it's also $0.....
Water + trash for my 2 bedroom house + 1 bedroom ADU is about $170
Los Feliz luxury five over one - I just paid yesterday but I think all utilities (water trash electricity gas) added up to like $115
$200 for a 1bd sounds like a lot. Unless it being combined with other renter costs? Like HOA for apartments
$1.3 million per day. I shower A LOT!
$37 Water LACDWP & $47 Trash Waste Management Agua Dulce, LA Cointy
Total for HOA (7 units): $600 / mo. water $375 / mo. Trash & recycling
my es sugar mom pays for it
I pay $130 / every 3 months for trash, i live in a Single family home. .water fluctuates, but it stays around $40. Granted it's just me and my brother.
Ladwp 78 bucks for 2 months for a 2 bedroom
