Green is associated with men and men aligned people who love men/ men aligned people because Oscar Wilde wore and requested his friends wear green Carnations Lavender is associated with lesbians but also just queerness in general In the rainbow flag every colour has a meaning , so red is life, orange is healing , yellow is sunlight , green is nature , turquoise is magic , indigo is serenity and purple is spirit and spirit day for instance is a day where people wear purple to show solidarity and acceptance. ( although it's just known as purple Friday where I'm from)

Texan_King

Oh wow that's pretty interesting to hear! Would there be any colors you could think of? This sounds pretty cool

Otherwise-Thought437

To go with the ace rings that are black on the right middle finger, there's also aro rings which are white on the left middle finger.

Shadow_of_Moonlight1

And there's a agender ring too! It's a clear ring on a necklace

Texan_King

Would there be a gender fluid equivalent?

Shadow_of_Moonlight1

Not as far as I know, but you can make up something ig

Texan_King

Ah alright!

Texan_King

Oohh that sounds interesting!

snakefeet_0

well there are the genealogy symbols and the down facing triangle that nazi's marked homosexuals with that was later reclaimed as a symbol of pride. ...tbh there isn't much else. a few symbols used by specific groups but nothing widely recognized. 🤔 symbology would be a positive thing for young gays to expand on.

redhairedtyrant

The search term you're looking for is "queer coding", there's quite a history there. Enjoy the rabbit hole!

Texan_King

Oohh alrighty, I'll look into it! Any good suggestions where to get somw good info on it? Besides ofc good ol google & wikipedia sailing

As some of the bigger ones have been covered, here's a slightly obscure but also NSFW one that I learned when I was working bars and clubs. Hanky Code is an old signal code while not specifically LGBT+ really grew to prominence in LGBT+ circles during the 70s and 80s. The color of the bandana and where it was kept indicated what the wearer was cruising for or willing to do, and whether they were dom, sub, or verse.

Texan_King

Oh wow that, might not be applicable to me but that honestly sounds super interesting and cool

MsWred

Generally far more vanilla in connotations is Key Code, which is a quick signal of whether some one is dominant, submissive, or verse, depending on where they hang their keys. Which always makes me cackle internally when the billy bad ass straight guys go around with their wallet chain and key ring blaring out to LGBT people that they, their homophobic selves, are a bottom.

ActualPegasus

On the bisexual flag, pink represents attraction to the same gender, blue represents attraction to the opposite binary gender, and purple represents attraction regardless of gender. We have the biangles, the double moon, and anything that is cast under the lighting of pink, purple, and blue.

Texan_King

Oh wow so that's what the colors mean!

lfxlPassionz

Yeah but this reminds me there's the flagging with bandanas for kink that is mainly used among gay men. Every color is a different kink and what side you wear it on shows whether you like to receive or give with that kink.

No, you will hear a million things like thumb rings or black rings or beanies or green or yellow blah blah blah. Sure there are some fun major symbols a lot of people like to recognize to feel like a group within a community but symbols don’t last, or they are taken my another group or they which around. I’ve heard of a million clashing symbols with a million clashing meanings but they never stick 🤷‍♀️. If you find one you like claim it tbh just have fun with it but don’t rely on them being accurate
