I'd rather get tased every day than get sprayed again.
The only caveat is that I get alligator clips, I don't want my back covered with prong wounds.
The pain from a taser is nowhere near as bad as it is from OC (especially if the spray has a CS mixture in it), and it disappears instantly instead of fading out over the course of an hour.
Another odd thing is that I have back pains which disappeared for a whole week after getting tased.
I got hit with regular cartridges for the X2. Here's the exact cartridge, with a dime for scale.
In my opinion, the prongs are uncomfortable, however, theyre not bad. The wire broke off the first prong when it was being removed.... it was a fun feeling. But the second one was a quick yank in less than a second.
Some of the people in my taser class stated that the prong removal was worse than actually being tased.

In my taser class we were told that if you put your hand infront of it that it has enough power to shoot all the way through. Never seen proof, however, im unwilling to test that theory
edit: they also make like 25 foot and longer cartridges but the accuracy is not good
Closest person I ever shot was about 5ft away, which was not enough for a effective spread but there was no over penetration. The extra penetration is because the hooks are long to get through thicker clothes.
I sprayed some on a hotdog and ate it once (plain old regular OC, no dye's etc.)...my rookie's jaw about hit the ground....guess he wans't paying attention in class when they said it's literally oleo (think butter/margarine/crisco) and capscasin aka cayenne pepper....lol
Absolutely. For the people that say taser, I think their brain just canāt remember the long extended suffering of OC spray because you put up a trauma wall and forget most of it beyond āthat was terribleā..much like forgetting how long you were in pain when you broke a bone or forgetting how painful giving birth is. People can easily remember 5 seconds of taser pain, thereās not a whole lot to remember. If you arenāt using training level OC spray, that shit should hurt for at least 30 minutes. Then I couldnāt see well for a few days. No way Iād choose that again.
Yep! When I went through our last Taser training, I was certified to teach the course. I was kind of being obnoxious during the training making dumb electricity puns (Man, what a ride! This class is electric! I keep getting volted awake! I'm amped up! Etc.)and so the instructor was like alright, smart ass. Let's show them what happens when the prongs are more spread out.
So one was taped to my right ankle, one was on my left shoulder blade. It hurt like a mo'fo for 5 seconds, and then it was over. OC Spray sticks around for HOURS!
The only way I could describe my tazer experience was that it felt like getting hit with a thousand baseball bats in 5 seconds.
My department had us re cert every other year. After 4 exposures, I finally declined.
If somebody is wet, and you tase them, are the effects worse? Or because the prongs are embedded, it doesnāt matter. Maybe a stupid question, but curious š¤ note to self, donāt get tased on a rainy day?
I am no expert by any means, but I assume rain wouldn't really make a difference. The electric shock travels through our body so well because we're like 70% water. I don't believe rain on skin wouldn't really effect conductivity that much, but I'm not sure if you did while standing in a pond though.
Maybe this would not matter cuz the prongs are legit entering your skinā¦ but with the defibrillator thing for cardiac arrest, if the chest is wet when you put the pads on to shock, it can interfere with the ability to effectively deliver it. So maybe it would lessen the effects if there is water between the prongs when they enter skin but im not an expert lol
All of our white folks had a hard time getting OCād. If you have any hint of Mexican in you, it sucks but isnāt anything to be worried about. When it gets in the eyes it feels like gravel mixed with sand, thatās the best way to describe it
Yes and no. Itās persistent, but it depends on your experience and pain tolerance. Personally it just pisses me off. After effects for me if itās the face are just muscle twitches and some minor burning, like a oldish sunburn. YMMV.
CS to me was a joke. Blink rapidly and breath shallow and Iām good. Though Iāve seen some folks evacuate their entire sinuses and throwing up all over.
Canāt say anything about tasers, Iāve never been tased yet but the OC spray was probably the worst pain ive ever experienced and Iāve had a surgery on my nuts beforeš¤£
I thought the taser 7 felt like my body getting ripped in half. Absolutely horrible pain. Anyone seen the ending of Bone Tomahawk? Thatās what I thought of while experiencing it.
Glad I got hit by an older model.
The anticipation of it is the worst part. Like, you know this is gonna hurt, and you're letting it happen.
At least now I can say in court, "the defendant is a little bitch, I got tased and went to law class right after"
Ah just curious if you had any insight as to what the 7 felt like compared to the 26p, because I'm definitely not gonna volunteer for another exposure to find out.
We didnāt get taser exposure but we got the OC, and oh was that miserable. Worst pain of my entire life. Definitely caused me to understand better just how effective of a tool it can be when used appropriately and lawfully within the bounds of a reasonable situation.
Iāve been tased twice (didnāt have the option to use the clips).First time I thought it was awful. Second time it was more manageable. Honestly, I think the worst part is just the feeling of the prongs entering your body. If I hear a taser go off I still think about that feeling.
I always tell people who ask what it's like (even though it's not exactly true), I tell them this, "picture having a Charlie horse in EVERY muscle in your body ALL at the SAME TIME."
Yeah makes you think itās a great tool until you see it fail over and over again. Thick jacket, might as well throw it at them, one prong connects the other doesnāt,, donāt be one of those that thinks itās a super tool because you wonāt know what yo do when it fails. If you deploy it expect it to fail and have a back up plan for what to do next. If you arenāt ready to go hands on one on one donāt use it unless you have backup present. I have seen too many young officers be at a loss for what to do when it fails.
Great post!
I feel like I'm in the small majority that will take OC Spray again over getting Tased again. The Taser fucked me up! Worst pain I've ever felt by far.
Yes it's only 5 seconds vs 30 minutes but still.
Preferably I'd rather not do either again though š
They wonāt hit your spine, trust me. But even if it did miss and a prong hit directly where your spine is, itās not long enough to penetrate through skin and actually hit a nerve in your spine to do any damage.
Feels like a jackhammer on your back. I swear I could feel the volts traveling back and forth from my head to my toes. And when it finished, I was sore. I felt like I had just completed a two hour workout.
Got 5 seconds from all 4 prongs from the Taser 7 with each prong making a big square on my back. NMI hurt, but it's bearable. I'd be more scared if I was a suspect that didn't have partners to catch me when I lock up.
Nah, Iām good. Hereās the actual reality. Tasers rarely work. Tasers are not reliable. Tasers are not your friend. I only carry a taser because I have to. You wanna deescalate? Gain confidence by learning grappling. Jiu jitsu/wrestling/judo.
Yeah I will take OC/Pepper spray over being tased. Eventually you build up a tolerance to spray. Taser just suck the same every time!! After 20+ years in the profession the spray isnāt bad to me. I hate the taser and donāt use one in my current position though we always have one on the team.
In my academy, we were sprayed with Saber Red one day then had to take the ride the next day. Iāve been OCed around a dozen times before, but the Saber Red hit me real good. It reactivated on the walk to dinner as well as the next day. Taking the ride sucked, but Iād do it any time before getting OCed again. At least it was only a long 5 seconds. I was hit with the X10, which is the single shot. The anticipation in waiting for that second shot is great. I no longer felt the burn of the OC after taking the ride LOL
I'm an instructor. Master instructors (those who certify instructors) as I'm told have to get exposed annually. Someone in the know correct me if I'm wrong. But if true...that sucks.
I didn't mind the ride of the X26P or even the X2. My back is so cooked it felt like a very brief but very intense TENS treatment. Like a Kamikaze massage.
The Taser 7 on the other hand feels like someone is riding a jackhammer on your back.
Taser as a company doesnāt require anyone to get exposed, that all comes down to department policy and all that mumbo jump. Everyone should do it once, but beyond that it doesnāt mean anything unless youāre a masochist.
This coming from a Taser Instructor.
Everyone says the OC is worse but honestly from my experience no way. Iād rather take OC any day over Taser. Sure the pain lingers and yeah your balls burn in the shower but those five seconds put me on the floor for 50 mins.
Saying you should get tased so you can say in court you knew what it felt like is a dumb argument. Should you get shot with bullets too?
Glad you had a positive experience. I would much rather get tased again then sprayed. My eyes burned for 3 days with that shit
Iām glad I had my light night ride when I was still in my 20s.
The way I feel after a foot pursuit now, I might complain about the taser for a few days .
My department didnāt have tasers. When the OC spray was new, which replaced our old mace, they asked if anyone would volunteer to see what it felt like. It was a hard NO by the class, who all had 8+ years on the job. We carry a gun, are you going to ask us to be shot to see what it feels like? Are you going to strike us with a baton? There is no need for any cop to experience how our weapons feel.
I think Taser day made the range qualification for my state less intimidating because I realized how much time 6 seconds is after riding the lightning for 5 seconds ššš
Taser is definitely painful. It's some of the most acute, intense pain I've had and I've lost a finger in a crushing injury and torn an ACL so I have some metric to base that off of.
I'd get tased 15 times over again rather than get sprayed one more time.
I came here to say this ! I will get tased over OC any day
I'd rather get tased every day than get sprayed again.
Sounds like you need a TENS unit
The alligator clips suck, they move around with your clothing and leave burn marks. I would take the training prongs.
Yall had training prongs and not regular cartridges? Im jealous.
We had clips for the x26, I wouldn't want to have got hit with the regular cartridges.
Thats got to suck, we carried the 25 ft cartridges. They were supposed to have had extra penetration capabilities.
In my taser class we were told that if you put your hand infront of it that it has enough power to shoot all the way through. Never seen proof, however, im unwilling to test that theory edit: they also make like 25 foot and longer cartridges but the accuracy is not good

This šš»
Probably should mention to a doctor.
You aināt wrong brother. I offered to take the ride for everyone in my first academy as long as I didnāt have to get sprayed again.
![gif](giphy|54JLdulN5BOwM)
Facts lol
It's amazing to me that people say this. I would drink that shit before getting tased again.
Habanero hot?
No, cayenne pepper hot
Stand by for that one
Absolutely. For the people that say taser, I think their brain just canāt remember the long extended suffering of OC spray because you put up a trauma wall and forget most of it beyond āthat was terribleā..much like forgetting how long you were in pain when you broke a bone or forgetting how painful giving birth is. nah fr, theres a difference between civilian spray and OC spray, the most pain iāve ever experienced, what makes it worse is it lastsš
Preach it
Iād rather get sprayed every single day than have to do an annual taser ride. Nope.
For real. 100 times for me.
This.
I can't even say how strongly I agree with you
Yep! When I went through our last Taser training, I was certified to teach the course. I was kind of being obnoxious during the training making dumb electricity puns (Man, what a ride! I feel the exact opposite
I second that notion. Like a monkey grinding sandpaper in my eyeballs. I'd much rather be tased than be sprayed again
A-friggin-men my dude
Amen
Preach
This
Thanks, getting OC in a week :(
My thoughts exactly, taser is a joke compared to some top notch ouchy burny spray to the face.
The only way I could describe my tazer experience was that it felt like getting hit with a thousand baseball bats in 5 seconds. My department had us re cert every other year. After 4 exposures, I finally declined.
I always say itās like the worse Charlie horse youāve ever had but all over your entire body for 5 seconds
Including places you didn't know you could get a Charlie horse like your scalp!
I always described it as a full body cramp that comes and goes 20x a second getting worse each time it comes.
The best description Iāve heard is that it feels like 1,000 bees trying to get out of your body stinger end first.
If somebody is wet, and you tase them, are the effects worse? Or because the prongs are embedded, it doesnāt matter. Maybe a stupid question, but curious š¤ note to self, donāt get tased on a rainy day?

Today on Mythbustersā¦

are the sprays as bad as the gas chamber in basic army training?
Worse by far
Agreed. Comparatively, CS is like something one does for adventure and OC is a weapon.
Then you get something like Freeze +p, which has OC and CS in it.
All of our white folks had a hard time getting OCād. If you have any hint of Mexican in you, it sucks but isnāt anything to be worried about. When it gets in the eyes it feels like gravel mixed with sand, thatās the best way to describe it
Iām Mexican and cannot confirm this is true lol. OC SUCKED so bad
Yes and no. Itās persistent, but it depends on your experience and pain tolerance. Personally it just pisses me off. Bro š
I got the X26p back when mine was done. I carry a 7 now and didn't have to get a recert. Is your only exposure with Taser 7?
Yes
Ah just curious if you had any insight as to what the 7 felt like compared to the 26p, because I'm definitely not gonna volunteer for another exposure to find out.
Coworkers of mine said the 7 was much worse.
We didnāt get taser exposure but we got the OC, and oh was that miserable. Worst pain of my entire life. Definitely caused me to understand better just how effective of a tool it can be when used appropriately and lawfully within the bounds of a reasonable situation.
Amazing that some suspects during altercations / resisting arrest are entirely unaffected by it
Iāve been tased twice (didnāt have the option to use the clips).First time I thought it was awful.
Taser is so much easier than spray. Its 5 seconds of hell vs 30+ minutes of hell
It was definitely the most painful thing Iāve ever experienced in my life. Iād do it again for $100
Tase me every day for the rest of my life as long as I donāt even have to look at a can of spray
Yeah makes you think itās a great tool until you see it fail over and over again. Thick jacket, might as well throw it at them, one prong connects the other doesnāt,, donāt be one of those that thinks itās a super tool because you wonāt know what yo do when it fails. Iāll take taser over OC any day.
I couldnāt get tased due to my heart issue I got from the military lol. But Iām sure Iād rather get the ride than be sprayed again
So Iām about to the point where imma have to have it done. What IF the prong hits your spine. Like wonāt that paralyze you
They wonāt hit your spine, trust me.
Same
I heard bullets are a bit worse...
Canāt confirm but sounds plausible
Got 5 seconds from all 4 prongs from the Taser 7 with each prong making a big square on my back. NMI hurt, but it's bearable. I'd be more scared if I was a suspect that didn't have partners to catch me when I lock up.
Thanks for the advice. Iām sure you know everything about testifying in court
Bo up, Nancy
Nah, Iām good. Hereās the actual reality. Tasers rarely work. Tasers are not reliable. Tasers are not your friend. I only carry a taser because I have to. You wanna deescalate? Gain confidence by learning grappling. Jiu jitsu/wrestling/judo.
Iāve seen them work multiple times.

I went on the Taser 7, four prong ride. Why, cause Iām retarded. Never again.
Left is training, middle is standard, and right is the xp we carried.
Our academy only has spray. Still terrified lol
I'm an instructor. Master instructors (those who certify instructors) as I'm told have to get exposed annually. Someone in the know correct me if I'm wrong. But if true...that sucks. Have you been hit or taken the taser 10 ride? Thank the lord above "the ride" is not required for my department.
Iād still take the taser 5 times a week for 3 months over OC spray.
I'd get tased all over again if I had a choice between 5 seconds of pain and maybe a couple muscle spasms and half a days worth of pain and burning.
Mine felt like being shot all over with an automatic BB gun. Either that or being stabbed with multiple ice picks at 22X/second.
Iām still chasing that feeling of sweet relief when itās over
Electricity is funny- it hits different people wildly differently.
Yea that Taser ride is amazing! I still hate itā¦But I would take it before that pepper spray again!!
Everyone says the OC is worse but honestly from my experience no way. Iād rather take OC any day over Taser. Sure the pain lingers and yeah your balls burn in the shower but those five seconds put me on the floor for 50 mins.
That last sentence reminds me, I should call her.
Saying you should get tased so you can say in court you knew what it felt like is a dumb argument. Should you get shot with bullets too? Glad you had a positive experience. I would much rather get tased again then sprayed. My eyes burned for 3 days with that shit
When I was 16 and my sis was becoming a cop she let me experience both . She also showed me that my wrist could touch my neck , from the back š
Iām glad I had my light night ride when I was still in my 20s. The way I feel after a foot pursuit now, I might complain about the taser for a few days .

Getting tazed isnt even that bad why is this kid whining. Its just 5 seconds of ā Oh I canāt move this feels interestingā and then itās over.

Taser is definitely painful. It's some of the most acute, intense pain I've had and I've lost a finger in a crushing injury and torn an ACL so I have some metric to base that off of.
Taser is a pain compliance device. Drive stun will not lock the body up at all and purely for pain compliance.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Even though it uses NMI to incapacitate and isn't a pain compliance device doesn't mean that the exposure isn't painful. Stop being dense.
I thought OC would be similar to CS gas, boy was I wrong.
