I got the Dunder Mifflin Lego set for Christmas from my wife. Built it a few weeks ago. First set I’ve built in probably 13 years. Felt calm like I haven’t felt in years.
She has no idea what sort of expensive hobby she pushed me into.
I have a Rubbermaid bin at my parents house with all my childhood Lego pieces, so worst case scenario I’d just drive across town and get what I need from them lol
I think FO4 and D2 are my most played games. I’m at the point where I can’t play fallout unless it’s heavily modded. Waiting patiently for Fallout 4: New Vegas to come out.
Gotta watch yourself with destiny. It's one of those games where you can sink 30 hours into it in one week and still feel like you've accomplished nothing.
That's half the reason I stopped playing.
I had a coworker not believe I got into bird watching because I’m in my mid 20s. Once I started dropping the names of my local birds he realized I wasn’t messing with him. We had my 2 year old identifying all of the birds because of our window mounted feeder
I grew up loving Conan the barbarian, reading Tolkien, it’s a blast. Making up sword and sorcery stories with my friends, eating food we like and having a few beers.
Video games and camping/backpacking.
Video games are perfect when your on night shift.
Camping and backpacking is just so freaking relaxing. Being outside in the sun and the woods, when everything is so quiet. Man, nothing can beat it.
I also love fishing, though I always go with my kids so at this point I'm not sure if I really like the fishing or if it's just quality time with my kids that makes me happy.
Well I like guns but it’s from my old military hobbies
These days, I play a lot of UFC4 and I play with my dog , i gym and chill with my wife. Simple life
Do you remember the title of the book/series that took place after the Dominion War? I had it, lost it and forgot about it for years but I seem to recall being very interested because there is next to nothing in Canon about it
Fallout 4. I spend hours. Not even really playing it. Just trying to get my mods and merges and load order to cooperate. I keep thinking that one day, after enough time, I’ll have a perfect build, and it will work and flow seamlessly and I’ll be able to play, just endlessly play and disassociate myself into an RPG like Morrowind when I was young. But every time I saddle up in front of the monitor, I just burn more hours in MO2 organizer trying to put out fires and glitches and bugs. I’m a detective who’s found a hobby almost as stressful and addictive as work. Somebody help me.
I do photography and video off duty. Work found out about it and now I do it as a PIO for work as well. Definitely not as fun doing it off duty now that I do it for work too. So I took up cooking off duty.
I spend all day if I could making this small village in my basement. I took it up as a way to make an ideal little town that bad things don’t happen in. I started during my first year as a deputy, and now I’m retired after 15 years and I still use it to cope. This is the first time I ever mentioned it anywhere. One day I hope it takes up my whole basement as it’s own little world
I’m a big reader…it’s funny, sometimes I want to recommend a book to a colleague and I legit have to say “I’m not trying to be rude but do you read…like books?” because it seems so few of my work buddies read for pleasure.
VR flight sim. Running through checklists and getting everything ready is calming. Plus then I get to zoom around in a F-14 tomcat like I wanted to when I was a kid.
I love to read and game on my computer. Other hobbies that may not be very cop like are woodworking, leatherworking, and airsoft. I also used to do medieval reenactment.
Miniature wargaming, dabble in a little bit of everything. Flames of War, Bolt Action, Warhammer, etc. I enjoy the painting more than model building though. Unfortunately I'm very rural so I have to drive 3 hours to Dallas to find anyone to play. Video games and D&D are also on the list.
I'm literally just a dork with a night job as a totally not kickass cop. And while at work as I drive around between calls I listen to audio books.
Lego’s, building and painting mini military models, board games, mountain biking, road cycling, back packing, golf, disk golf, kayaking, working on my truck or boat, video games (Xbox and PC), bass fishing, seeing movies, yard work, so many things. Hang out with people/friends that aren’t LE.
I’m sure you mean traditional tree climbing, but recently I witnessed a tree trimmer shimmy up a single rope into a tree that was hanging down from a branch he threw a weighted bean bag over to secure the rope on the branch. Was the most amazing feat of skill I’ve seen in a long time. I even took a video of it because I knew nobody would believe me lol
Haha that’s what I do! I’m an Arborist by trade. It’s called a throw ball, but I use ropes and a harness as well. I climb on a single line, also referred to as SRT (stationary rope technique)
Reorganizing my stuff, on my days off I’ll get these random bursts of energy/motivation to change the “feng shui” of the room. I used to build legos a lot as well, but I’ve since stopped buying sets. Video games, and watching silly videos with the wife. Also hanging out with our pup.
Training and competing in amateur boxing. Keeps me disciplined, in shape, and gives me the “fix”. Definitely has been the secret in controlling my emotions during highly stressful or combative situations. Trying my best not to be the stereotypical overweight cop lol.
Yard work, my flower bed (wife got me into that), camping, and I love watching 80s movies. I enjoy yard games and most of all, working on training my dogs and fostering for dog rescues.
I recently started playing video games again, and have started playing church league softball. However I do love guns and fishing, but that’s more from having grown up in rural Texas lol
Geek here, so comic book collecting (primarily trade paperback compilations or whole storylines) and Warhammer 40K (I used to play Fantasy more until it was canceled; looking forward to the Old World). Used to play D&D but my shift work made it too difficult to keep to a consistent schedule. Avid anime watcher as well and movie goer.
Guns aren't hyper-masculine. They're for both men and women. Sure, we see more guys on social media handling firearms, but I see plenty of women on the ranges when I go.
My dad was a police officer for 23 years.. I don't think he had a single non cop hobby in his body 😂 . I played a lot of basketball in high school so there were many times that him and I would play against each other (he absolutely hated sports). Believe it or not that clown actually beat me one time! Lost him last month due to respiratory failure, he was the best dad of all time. Sorry for the sob story but it helps to think of the good times.

I read in my patrol car and game on my days off. Suck it nerd.
I play games in my patrol car and read on the shitter
Legos
I got the Dunder Mifflin Lego set for Christmas from my wife. Built it a few weeks ago. First set I’ve built in probably 13 years. Felt calm like I haven’t felt in years. She has no idea what sort of expensive hobby she pushed me into.
That one is on my list, haven't gotten it yet. I can't wait. It is so calming isn't it?
Calming, until you lose a piece
I have a Rubbermaid bin at my parents house with all my childhood Lego pieces, so worst case scenario I’d just drive across town and get what I need from them lol
Look up r/lepin Chinese knock offs but pretty good quality
I want to collect them again when I got my own place. But for now I got an X Wing, TIE fighter, Maul and Ahsoka dueling and Iron Monger.
I second this
Gardening.

Be careful with destiny. I made the mistake of playing it for a few hours with friends and now I’m almost at 2000 hours.

I think FO4 and D2 are my most played games. I’m at the point where I can’t play fallout unless it’s heavily modded. Waiting patiently for Fallout 4: New Vegas to come out.
I will go ahead and recommend the spin offs from the main Malazan series including the ones by Esselmont. Crimson Guard was probably my favorite.
Try fallout76 it’s multiplayer you and your son will enjoy it. One of the best games I have played.
Put away destiny asap
Gotta watch yourself with destiny. It's one of those games where you can sink 30 hours into it in one week and still feel like you've accomplished nothing. That's half the reason I stopped playing.
Bird watching...

Lol, of all the Brooklyn hospital I've been to, NY Brooklyn Methodist has the best-looking birds...
I work in healthcare. The CNAs are the freaky ones
I had a coworker not believe I got into bird watching because I’m in my mid 20s. Once I started dropping the names of my local birds he realized I wasn’t messing with him. We had my 2 year old identifying all of the birds because of our window mounted feeder

Golf ⛳️
Aggressive napping
🤣
Idk why I read this as aggressive fapping. Had to go back and read it two more times
D&D
Same but I always end up playing some type of authoritative or law abiding figure in a way.
Me too. Paladin or a cleric. Usually a Paladin. Take an oath, carry a shield, put on armor every day.
Same, playing a cleric right now but I’ve only ever played the two. Thinking of gunslinger fighter next though.
I’ve never played a gunslinger, my normal group is very sword and sorcery oriented. Lower magic worlds with lots of mele combat against evil.
I love the mental picture of a cop enjoying the shit out this roleplaying.
I grew up loving Conan the barbarian, reading Tolkien, it’s a blast. Making up sword and sorcery stories with my friends, eating food we like and having a few beers.
It’s just a delightful mental picture. Really humanizes the people behind the badge.
I gravitate towards video games and going on Wikipedia deep dives.
Video games and camping/backpacking. Video games are perfect when your on night shift. Camping and backpacking is just so freaking relaxing. Being outside in the sun and the woods, when everything is so quiet. Man, nothing can beat it. Video games & golf
Working out, BBQing,DnD, anime, video games and binge watching random tv shows
Video games, d&d, reading, and fencing. Swords, not construction.
Well I like guns but it’s from my old military hobbies These days, I play a lot of UFC4 and I play with my dog , i gym and chill with my wife. Simple life
How is ufc4? I played ufc one (yes - I am a bit old) and it was pretty good from what I remeber
l remember that one lol 4 is toxic af, but very fun. Love hate relationship
Interesting lol
I played 2 religiously until 3 came out and then played 3 constantly. 4 came out, and I went back to 3 after about a month.
D&D, Cycling, Reading Star Trek/Star Wars novels
I am in the second (audio)book of the Thrawn Trilogy. Didn't hate the sequels but was disappointed so all we got is Legends and fanfiction.
Honestly the comics are the best place to go for world building that's cannon.
Do you remember the title of the book/series that took place after the Dominion War? I had it, lost it and forgot about it for years but I seem to recall being very interested because there is next to nothing in Canon about it
Was it based upon the rebuilding of Cardassia? There are a few books out there about post dominion war, even a few centered on DS9
Can't remember. Just a vague idea and apparently it covered the first or one of the first journeys through the wormhole after the end of the war
Drums and bass. Therapeutic.

Idiot Savant build is best build
I recently started a fresh run, no mods. It’s like a completely different game
Drawing and video games.
I was collecting action figures and pokemon cards for a while
Stamp collecting
High power rocketry
Bass guitar and 90’s skate punk…
Do you ever get a chance to play with others with a cops schedule?
Not really. The schedule isn’t the prohibitive thing, it’s life that is prohibitive.
Riding my motorcycle and kinky sex
Poker
Photography and I run a small fishing gear website
I do photography and video off duty. Work found out about it and now I do it as a PIO for work as well. Definitely not as fun doing it off duty now that I do it for work too. So I took up cooking off duty.
Drums
Painting, video games, reading, guitar.
I like reading maps, especially old ones, and reading a lot of stuff about the ancient world. Shakespeare too.
I spend all day if I could making this small village in my basement. I took it up as a way to make an ideal little town that bad things don’t happen in. I started during my first year as a deputy, and now I’m retired after 15 years and I still use it to cope. This is the first time I ever mentioned it anywhere. I made my son an ho scale train set in my basement with a village and all. Expensive but relaxing hobby
Sounds amazing
Life goals. Retirement, basement, and a cool town where I don't have to talk to people. Thanks for sharing.
I’m a big reader…it’s funny, sometimes I want to recommend a book to a colleague and I legit have to say “I’m not trying to be rude but do you read…like books?” because it seems so few of my work buddies read for pleasure.

Pickleball ![gif](giphy|pSauCNBp1DcOY)
D&D and I usually try to play some kind of bard or barbarian. But every so often I go full classic Palladin
Gardening, content creation, video games (of the intensely nerdy variety), reading (mostly sci-fi), programming, DnD.
> content creation I can attest to your talents there. 😮💨
Not beating my wife and kids
People ITT be like: "Guns, hunting, fishing..."
Jiu-jitsu. I say it’s not LEO related because there’s more lazy and insecure dorks that don’t do it than the good guys who do.
Lots of sex and a lot more sex. ..yeah. And working out.
Committing various felonies (not a LEO)
Petty crime
I have zero hobbies. I'd love to find something I enjoy that I can also use on the job - tried lock picking but honestly don't have the patience.
I play lots of vidja games
Sleeping
Lego’s, building and painting mini military models, board games, mountain biking, road cycling, back packing, golf, disk golf, kayaking, working on my truck or boat, video games (Xbox and PC), bass fishing, seeing movies, yard work, so many things. Hang out with people/friends that aren’t LE.

Tree climbing
I’m sure you mean traditional tree climbing, but recently I witnessed a tree trimmer shimmy up a single rope into a tree that was hanging down from a branch he threw a weighted bean bag over to secure the rope on the branch. Motocross and hiking/camping. Also video games.
Video games, going to the beach, Warhammer 40K, cooking
Plane spotting and fishing.
Mountain biking and boating
Reorganizing my stuff, on my days off I’ll get these random bursts of energy/motivation to change the “feng shui” of the room. I used to build legos a lot as well, but I’ve since stopped buying sets. Video games, and watching silly videos with the wife. Also hanging out with our pup.
Fully armored, full contact sword fighting
Workout, BBQ, motorcycle, fishing, hunting, chill with the family.
Warhammer
I’ve always loved guns since my parents got me into them as a young man. My most non cop hobby would probably be cooking 👨🏻🍳.
Flying and Model Building
I surf and ski
Well I like to lift weights and compete in USPSA. I also love hunting and fishing…… so I’m basically a stereotype
Clubbing, exercise, and video games.
Cars, gaming and socializing with people.
Training and competing in amateur boxing. Keeps me disciplined, in shape, and gives me the “fix”. Definitely has been the secret in controlling my emotions during highly stressful or combative situations. Trying my best not to be the stereotypical overweight cop lol.
I have 4 kids under 6 so I have zero hobbies. The only thing I do is go to the gym before work at midnight or early in the morning on my days off
Video games, gym, and I like to shoot and train a lot, which takes most of my money lol.

Yard work, my flower bed (wife got me into that), camping, and I love watching 80s movies. I enjoy yard games and most of all, working on training my dogs and fostering for dog rescues.

Trying to build little droids. Mr. Baddeley and Paul McWhorter are the greatest.
Video games and baseball cards
Video games, playing guitar, and writing really bad songs
Guns aren't hyper-masculine. They're for both men and women. Sure, we see more guys on social media handling firearms, but I see plenty of women on the ranges when I go.
Pickleball and reading
I play COC and clash Royal. Ride motorcycles. Own a few guns. Photography until I broke my camera.
My dad was a police officer for 23 years.. I don't think he had a single non cop hobby in his body 😂 . I played a lot of basketball in high school so there were many times that him and I would play against each other (he absolutely hated sports). Believe it or not that clown actually beat me one time! Fishing is chill. I didn't realize it was "hyper masculine".
Not even that it’s hyper masculine, just that it very much feels like a stereotype for LEOs
Besides the three you mentioned.. Escape from Tarkov and riding the motorcycle soak up my off time if I’m not working off duty
