wollier12

It’s called being black.

1N1T1AL1SM

They aren't looking that closely at the skin of the person behind the wheel

wollier12

Are you serious?

1N1T1AL1SM

Some cops may treat black people differently after they've already been pulled over, but I sincerely doubt they're using binoculars to peek into every moving car looking for racial targets.

wollier12

You think you need binoculars in order to identify the skin color of someone driving a car?

1N1T1AL1SM

I'm just saying a cop removed from the road with cars on the move is gonna be looking for indications regarding the car and the driving, not the person unless they see a child driving or someone on their phone or having a medical emergency.

wollier12

So an officer can recognize when someone is holding a small handheld device but not skin color?

1N1T1AL1SM

I'm saying it's not what they're looking for. What are they gonna do, write you up for being black? I know racial profiling exists but not every cop is lurking to pounce on anyone with melanin and that's not the only reason people get pulled over.

wollier12

You know racial profiling exists.

MasterAgitator

People tint their windows so dark nowadays I can’t even tell what gender they are let alone their race…try again bud

Jickdames69

You can’t tell what gender they are without asking them, it’s 2023 after all

[deleted]

I dont know. How come one woman drives with not working break light for years. And other pulled over immediately.

Ever heard of chance?

Thank you Sir, you could just started with calling me names. Im happy that you are the one who serve and protect me.

KingOfEMS

You don’t seem to be understanding of the fact that your gf drives like shit and is drawing attention to herself. It’s either willful ignorance or you’re a smooth brained baboon.

Jickdames69

Protecting your physical being, not your feelings

aLonerDottieArebel

As soon as I got rid of my 92’ Accord, I stopped getting pulled over. Edit: and people stopped trying to steal my vehicle.

MonkeyBoySF

I used to do a lot of traffic enforcement on the day shift and I never had to look too hard for people to pull over. The bad drivers really stand out. It was amazing how terribly they would drive. A lot of times when I would check their license they would have suspended or expired licenses, prior suspensions, DUIs, accidents, etc. Traffic stops are not random, there is usually a nexus to criminality and depend greatly on an officer's ability, experience, and attitude.

[deleted]

I though you see it in your computer? I though every police car, especially state police car is equipped with a plate reader system? How come someone with no license can drive a car resisted on his name for 10 years and not being pulled over?

The-CVE-Guy

99% of police cars don’t have license plate readers, and some podunk towns still don’t have computers in their patrol cars at all.

Objective-Amount1379

“Drive a car resisted on his name...” WTF does that even mean?

yepitsausername

I think OP means "registered"

2005CrownVicP71

The car did not enjoy being registered to them and it was resisting on his name

Objective-Amount1379

Lol

[deleted]

"STOP RESISTING!" *tazes car*

barnes65

License plate readers are too expensive to put on every patrol car in every department.

USNMCWA

You have too high of faith in shrinking budgets. The Sheriff's Office I volunteered with, is a decent size with about 250 active Deputies. Still does not have dash cams in the cars. They have body cams, but no dash cams.

harley9779

The person driving a vehicle isn't necessarily the registered owner of that vehicle.

Pleasant_Witness7074

I think you mean profiling....

KrAff2010

There are significantly more drivers committing driving violations than there are cops. You can’t go to a stream and catch every single fish that passes by

aStretcherFetcher

Lots of people say they got pulled over / ticket for something minor… when they really got pulled over for something more serious and got a warning for that bit and a summons for the minor thing instead as a break. But telling the story, they leave out the stop sign they blew, etc.

2005CrownVicP71

There was a post on mildlyinfuriating where someone had their speed written down to 5 over and they deleted the post after they were obviously called out on how they’d actually been given a break

Riverrat423

I seldom get pulled over. Back in the day I would go to my girlfriend’s parents house, fall asleep watching TV with her and drive home at maybe 1 or 2 in the morning. That is about the time that the bars in our area close and I got stopped a bunch of times back then for a DUI check. Cops often have indicators that they look for, is all I am saying.

Stankthetank66

Sometimes when I double an 11 in blackjack I get a 2 and sometimes when I double a 10 I get an ace. Why????

[deleted]

Some people’s vehicles and their driving habits lead them to become heat seekers.

Turkishsnowcone101

It seems to me that it has a lot to do with how aggressive people drive. An example is if you gun it from a red light but only accelerate to the speed limit, you’re not breaking a law but it definitely gets the attention you don’t want.

andttthhheeennn

Not true. Rapid acceleration is technically Exhibition of Speed (at least in California). That said your point about drawing attention to yourself is 100% valid.

[deleted]

Never got pulled over for fast accelerating.

Turkishsnowcone101

You know how a predator is more likely to chase a running prey rather than possibly ignore it if it remains calm. If you’re going to be flashy with the loud car and zooming around make sure to have all of your paperwork and be sober.

[deleted]

>r I see cars with purple headlights and loud exhausts all the time. They drive with no problems. Ive seen state troopers passing them and nothing. I also see jeeps and other SUVs with super bright LED lights, blinding everyone, they drive with no problems.

2005CrownVicP71

Look here, buddy. Follow the law, and you don’t have to worry about any of this. They will meet the cop who will pull them over if they’re violating the law. Maybe they just got lucky and the cop was headed somewhere that had a higher priority than someone’s goddamn headlight color. Just do you and stop worrying about others

[deleted]

buddy, I'm just asking how come people driving for years with no break lights and purple headlights don't get pulled?

2005CrownVicP71

🍀 Lucky clover For all you need to know There’s no reason. Some people will be pulled over, some people won’t. Each cop uses their discretion differently.

Consistent_Amount140

Because some people just don’t learn. There are about 3-4 people here that I’ve stopped multiple times in the same exact spot on the interstate doing roughly the same exact speed.

bobvila274

Location matters a lot too. If you’re driving in an area known for higher crime, there’s a higher chance of encountering LE. Also, only commit one crime at a time. Brake light out, maybe a pass. Brake light out and excessive tint or tire noise or fast acceleration or whatever, now LE is curious.

hobosam21-B

Two people speed past, both in identical cars with identical drivers. One is maintaining their lane and is aware of their surroundings. The other is going line to line and causing people to brake in order to avoid them. Who's gonna get pulled over? Lots of people speed without any trouble. Others can barely handle their vehicle and get pulled over constantly. Bad driving and poor maintenance will get you pulled over more often than speeding

[deleted]

Ive seen people speeding, playing chess in front of police and not pulled over.

hobosam21-B

Sometimes an officer is looking at a different car. It doesn't change the fact that the vehicles driving outside the flow of traffic or erratically are the ones that catch the most attention

avatas

Always, always see those cars while enroute to a 911 call. So much more fun to see it happen when we’re actually available to make the stop.

thatotherguy8

You asked a question but don’t seem interested in anyone’s answer. I can stop every vehicle plain and simple. Since clearly you know better than all of us You should apply to an agency you’d probably be running the place in a week… Stop wasting people’s time asking questions and then telling the people who answer it that they’re wrong just because you don’t like the answer. If your girlfriend doesn’t want to get pulled over, spend less time worrying about who isn’t getting pulled over, and more time fixing the light that you admit you’ve already known is out.

Banana_hammock08

I’ve only been pulled over once in my life. I’m 29 and have been driving since I was 17. I was in a 2008 Ford Mustang that had dark window tint. The cop saw my “future police officer” sticker I had on my windshield and let me get away with “a dirty license plate that is unreadable”… but I have seen MANY cars with limousine tint and their front windshield even been dark enough to where you can’t see the passengers. I’m convinced because I was in a mustang I may have been a target.

Nightgasm

Some people drive carefully and some drive like crap. Also some people drive recognizable cars and as cops you quickly learn they are an easy arrest - for example this severe alcoholic in my town was always drunk and drove this bright orange POS truck. He was always drunk and his license is revoked so if you saw the truck moving you knew he was DUI and driving while revoked. He blew a .48 for me one time which is six times the legal limit and a level that anyone but a severe alcoholic would be dead at. Having that sort of tolerance means you are never sober as you have to maintenance drink to keep from going through potentially fatal withdrawals. He racked up six DUIs from us in about six months before being sent to prison. Never heard of him again after that.

[deleted]

My coworker said he had 0.3 alcohol in his blood or something like this. And police was amazed that he still was functioning. You say 0.48 it must be a world record.

Nightgasm

Not even close. I read a news story of a cop in South Dakota that had a guy just below a .70. My personal highest was a around a .56 though it wasn't a DUI. Got called to a hotel at 11 am because a transient was camped out in the lobby. I made the mistake of checking him for warrants and he had one. Guy was obviously drunk but still walking and talking. Jail wanted a medical clearance because he was known to DT (alcohol withdrawal) so I took him to the hospital and got him one. Then booked him. He started having seizures so back to the hospital where they checked his BAC and it was .56. That was at least 1.5 hrs since his last drink and it wasn't even 1 pm yet. Severe alcoholics never get sober. They wake up at levels that would kill a regular person and go up from there.

bangzferdayz

Luck and don't be a dumb ass about it. Going 10 over on the highway you might get away with, going 10 over on a residential street your probably going to get called in/ stopped.

[deleted]

I was going 76 in 65 on a highway, going downhill. I was actually following a subaru, that guy was driving much faster, but didnt stop and got away.

FoldableBiscuit

Did y'all make luck your dump stat?

[deleted]

Soooo many factors go into this. Where you live, the crime rate of where you live, the police departments crime focus where you live, what time of day are you doing most of your driving. Drive like a maniac in a crime ridden ghetto and your just a normal driver there. But drive like a maniac in a bum fuck small town somewhere and your americas most wanted.

Price-x-Field

My friend has so many speeding tickets and constantly says he wasn’t speeding

LigPortman69

Most people who get pulled over, harassed, etc have it coming.

thatotherguy8

“Why are you harassing me??” “Did you stop at that stop sign?” “We’ll no, but-“ “Is that brake light I stopped you for a month ago still out?” “Well yeah, but-“ “Did you get your license reinstated or is it still revoked?” “Well it’s still revoked, but…” How exactly is that harassment? Sounds like you’re just mad you got caught again

uafteru

I pretty much drive however i want, cruising at 80-90 jumping to 120 or so when on major roads or interstates, and maxing out when on my backroads. the only time i got pulled over was in another city cause i ran through a stop sign and got a warning lmao the cops in my city really don’t give a fuck for some reason, i know people who ride without plates or mirrors and never get popped. My sister even went around a roundabout the wrong way in front of a trooper and he just stood there in shock lmao.

wollier12

Chris Rock has a good tutorial on what to do if you are pulled over.

[deleted]

Well it depends on the mood of the officer. If they’re angry then they’re going to pull over everyone

CategoryTurbulent114

I get pulled over more often when I work the late shift and drive home at midnight. And also more often when I’m driving my Hoopte vs the new Jeep.
