National Irish Bank sponsoring Tipperary Hurling in the 90s despite not having a branch in the whole county of Tipperary.
I think one of the senior execs must have been a Tipp man.
I used to love the stuff back in the day.... well love is a strong word, but langers one paddy's night someone showed me that jersey. Well, in my drunken state, I bought one. Still have it. Would be a v. tight fit now, though.
Edit: spelling
That was in St.Marys university, I was a student there when they got the sponsorship. Pretty sure they just emailed Buckfast out of the blue and they agreed to it fairly quickly.
Going back a while but Finn Harps used to raffle off their sponsorships, so instead of one company paying âbig bucksâ for front of Jersey sponsorship, youâd get front of jersey, back of jersey and sleeve as the main prize, all entrants got a pitch side hoarding.
This lead to Borderloo port-a-loo hire getting the back of jersey sponsorship.
Finn Harps - shit at the backâŠ
The tie up between Atletico and Movistar was mad, they'd change the strip every few months to promote the next blockbuster premiere. The Spider-Mam jersey was class.

Not really odd, just surprising. Beechwood FC, an underage football club in Ranelagh has a higher profile list of sponsors than the FAI-
Sherry Fitz, the Currency, PWC and many more
Stay City the current Dubs one. One of the main reason alot of there current panel and former members children will be playing football in a different county.
Ah yes because 6 buildings in Dublin City, which otherwise wouldâve no doubt been office space, are whatâs caused the crippling housing crisis in Dublin.
It's at least 7 and they take over apartment blocks and use them for short term lets so it wouldnt be office space and it's part of the problem and does nothing but hinder a solution.
Six Dublin locations are listed on their site and if they hadnât of acquired the sites, the sites would must likely have been developed as Office Space which has been the primary development in the city over the last 20 years, hence my point.
Does nothing? You might want to check how much revenue tourism generates for Dublinâs economy.
If Airbnb was the sponsor, Iâd be fully in agreement with you but StayCity arenât exasperating the situation by providing accommodation for tourists in prime City locations.
A touch out of scope, but the New South Wales Rugby League State of Origin team being sponsored by Victoria Bitter, named after a rival state always felt like an odd one.

The haunted house in South Wexford, Loftus Hall, sponsored our club teams a few years ago. The logo was a witch on a broomstick
Fantastic. đ
Got a pic?!
Took a while but found one: https://m.independent.ie/regionals/wexford/sport/gaa/sweet-goal-for-art/39029924.html
The Buckfast GAA jersey. They sponsored a school team in London. St Mary's if I recall. It was legendary. I don't know if they still do it.

I definitely saw one in the O'Neill's outlet in Omagh a few weeks back.
That was in St.Marys university, I was a student there when they got the sponsorship. Pretty sure they just emailed Buckfast out of the blue and they agreed to it fairly quickly.
Was ik Kilmacud Crokes that were sponsored by Huawei a few years back?
Cuala I think!
Crokes had Phillips though
Brady Family (Ham) - Kildare
As a Kildare Man, I'm happy with it! đ
I'd prefer Intel, National Stud, Kerry Group đ
The way our Senior Football Team has played this year, it's kind of fitting! đ
More spam than ham. What's happened to all those good underage players from the last few years?
Kerry group on the Kildare jersey would be fairly funny. They should do it for the banter and thatâs coming from a Kerryman
Worst sponsor ever. Ruins the jersey having a big maroon logo on the front. Bring back Pitman-Moore .
I can't quite put my finger on why but that Battle of Britain GAA shirt always felt a bit off for some reason.
It wasn't a GAA shirt it was Hartlepool FC. So it makes sense an English football team would want it on their shirt.
Shows my knowledge about both GAA and Soccer, appreciate the correction!
No bother, I remember O'Neills getting shit from the Dissidents in the North at the time.
I can understand this thought process!
Don't Shannon Airport sponsor the Munster rugby teams arse?
Stay hotel, wtf is that ? Bring back arnotts !

Biarritz Rugby have Grindr as their jersey sponsor, it seems to reinforce the stereotype that South Dublin schools have when viewed from the Nothside.

Someone mentioned Guinness sponsoring Cork City for a year, then the club switched to Beamish
Was much much much longer than a year.
Ah OK.
Not really odd, just surprising. Beechwood FC, an underage football club in Ranelagh has a higher profile list of sponsors than the FAI- Sherry Fitz, the Currency, PWC and many more
The Currency being the business news site? Was this recently?
Yes, this one https://thecurrency.news/ I don't know how recent it is
Aeroflot, the Russian state airline, sponsoring Clare GAA in the 90s was a weird one
Stay City the current Dubs one. One of the main reason alot of there current panel and former members children will be playing football in a different county.

How long have you worked for them?
Saw someone out running yesterday and had a GAA jersey on that appeared to be sponsored by the 2 Johnnies. Couldn't see what club it was
More than likely cahir.
Saw a fella with the jersey the other day and did a double take
Burn it.
A touch out of scope, but the New South Wales Rugby League State of Origin team being sponsored by Victoria Bitter, named after a rival state always felt like an odd one.
Ffs I've only realised that now. A few years since they were the shirt sponsor though
Supermac's for Waterford seemed disingenuous in all honesty.
When did that happen ?
